Re: Beyond the City of Thieves OOC
Quickly, as I don't have much time to post this weekend: I say we go to that silversmith next, finish our grocery list. Then we can go sewer crashing and try to talk to some of those sea hags.

Re: Beyond the City of Thieves OOC
I just feel like we outsourced the wrong task. We could have sent any errand boy to buy flowers and pearls - but we elected to do that ourselves, and let a priest we don't trust do our information gathering.
Eh. It's propably fine =)

Our 3-man band is missing the scholarly archetype, I believe. This is what happens. Apparently, our best information gathering technique does consist of shaking it off people.

Re: Beyond the City of Thieves OOC
Ever the best way of asking any question.
Yes - that is so. At heart, Borgrim is kinda-sorta a gentleman. Raised proper, he was. He knows that - even from beyond the grave - if he treats women disrespecfully, his mom will come and slap him silly.

Initiative - (1d20+9)[23]... does Rosa act even before Enfys... ?
EDIT: I made an modifiable map.
I moved Borgrim to stand right south of Enfys, but I may have misinterpreted Keen's intentions.Last edited by WalkingTheShade; 2019-10-25 at 04:31 AM.

Re: Beyond the City of Thieves OOC
Thanks for the map. I'll link it in my next IC post. I was thinking I probably should have made one in google docs, but didn't have time last night.
For the sake of convenience Rosa acts just after Enfys for this first round, due to Enfys' familiarity with the sewers in general.

Re: Beyond the City of Thieves OOC
I'm literally happy that I can help with our game's logistics. It's the same as Nick helping with the map. I've done a few of those maps already, I'm probably faster than others with that task.
Moreover, I know It's sometimes hard to find the right time to post: You need both the free time and the mental availability, and GM posts are a lot longer than player posts to write. I had iddle time on my hands the other day, so it didn't cost me much more effort than my own post.'Jernau Gurgeh', the machine said, making a sighing noise, 'a guilty system recognises no innocents. … The very way you think places you amongst its enemies. … Prevarication will be more difficult than you might imagine; neutrality is probably impossible. Re: Beyond the City of Thieves OOC
Heh, this is getting interesting. We had the bad cop, the good cop... and now the very angry cop.
Each post (both players' and GM's) changed my opinion of how to proceed.
I'm trying to find reasons not to turn this into a fight, but none convince me, neither IC nor OOC. The main OOC reason is that fights are fun. The main IC reason is that Gloy is so very clearly an ******* and instead of trying to calm things down, she keeps gloating, acting dignified, and (hopefully) overplaying her hand.
Time to rumble! I'm writing an IC post right now.'Jernau Gurgeh', the machine said, making a sighing noise, 'a guilty system recognises no innocents. … The very way you think places you amongst its enemies. … Prevarication will be more difficult than you might imagine; neutrality is probably impossible. Re: Beyond the City of Thieves OOC
I am itching to try a (possibly) harder fight myself. Also, I do not know if there are spells inside that grimoire that we might need/want.
However, OOC I think that having a clearly well-informed Hag as a contact warrants evaluating as a benefit.
IC Ben believe that the Hag is acting according to its nature, and sees no reason for concern.
That said, if we're fighting, let's get it on.My day job is killing me. But I will rise again, more powerful than ever!

Re: Beyond the City of Thieves OOC
I probably didn't draw specific attention to it, or glossed things over when you first found the grimoire. There are definitely a few spells that Rosa could get from the spellbook if she had some quiet time to study it (and higher level spells would be available if she decides to continue advancing as a wizard). Nicodemus let her keep it for that very reason; he assumed that Rosa could get a little use from it.
And now, I figure I'll make a couple of ominous rolls here, and see what the dice have to say about what happens next
OminousRoll1 - (1d20+3)[5] (vs. Borgrim's Intimidate)
OminousRoll2 - (1d20+1)[20] (vs. Rosa's Dex: Sleight of hand)
EDIT: Ooo, now that's interesting.

Re: Beyond the City of Thieves OOC
Neither does Rosa. What I can say is that the more it goes and the more Rosa is seeing Nicodemus as a replacement for a missing father figure. She stole the grimoire before knowing Nicodemus, but surrendering it know seems impossible to her.
However, OOC I think that having a clearly well-informed Hag as a contact warrants evaluating as a benefit.Last edited by WalkingTheShade; 2019-11-12 at 02:10 AM.

Re: Beyond the City of Thieves OOC
I'd like to know the effect of Rosa's spell before committing to a course of action.
Also, we can't just let her go NOW. We tried to kill her (at least in her eyes, but I can see how she thought that).
What do you propose we do?My day job is killing me. But I will rise again, more powerful than ever!

Re: Beyond the City of Thieves OOC
No no, Rosa did try to kill her. Rosa just didn't get the occasion to enact the actual killing part of her move. It was still attempted murder.

Re: Beyond the City of Thieves OOC
Noted. I'll have a post up in a little bit. I'll wait for Benedict to act before Lady Gloy takes her full turn.
I obviously misread your post. Sorry about that. I agree that it wouldn't have changed how Lady Gloy reacted.
Noted as well.
Here is the dex save:

Edit: So Lady Gloy saves against falling prone, but the grease is still difficult terrain for her. If Benedict still wants to act before Lady Gloy takes her turn, he can.

Well, you're not wrong on that account.
From now on, maybe-madness, maybe-curse caused voices heard exclusively in one PC head do not count anymore : D

If Borgrim arrives behind her (which seems logical, since Gloy was running away from the party) then he might reach hand-to-hand distance, while standing just outside the grease thing.Last edited by WalkingTheShade; 2019-11-12 at 02:02 PM.
