This new character is very interesting and complex. He's a "good guy," enforcing the law and doing the right thing, even though he's a bloodthirsty brute. It promises to be an entertaining look at the "good does not mean nice" concept.

I eagerly await the inevitable heel face turn where it turns out he's just an evil bully and a villain with no depth or complexity.

If you are taking about officer Herix, he has been already established as an evil bully and a villain. No need to look further.

It was pretty bluntly stated he's killing everyone because the embuvalij want them dead. Maybe he's a stooge (but still a violent murderous stooge), but I'm pretty sure he knows exactly what's going on.

Yeah im pretty sure this is a bought cop going on a murder rampage against criminals so he can do it and not get into trouble. He isnt an anti hero, he isnt the punisher, he is a dirty cop on the take who erases problems for the family that owns him, and he just got carte blanche to go full genocide on the other families. Its an interesting setup though in that its technically his job, even though he is supposed to bring in prisoners, not kill everyone, but hey, they were coming right at him! With that much "reasonable doubt" in this highly corrupt world, he will likely walk free if anyone complains. "hey i told them to surrender, but they just started pulling out weapons and attacking us. I HAD to shoot them all 57 times in the back with forensics showing most bullets traveled straight through them into the floor meaning they were already face down when i shot them."

    Update.

If he were any other writer, I would presume Mookie was looking for any excuse in order to put Star Power in skimpy clothes, slave Leia style.
Because why the subterfuge? if Star Power wants to put down the Extavo she could simply walk in and blast everything. Also at this point all families must have distributed the profile of the only superheroine in town among their ranks with the order "AVOID TO ALL COST", so Danica will be identified on the spot.

Hey Danica, are you going to stick to the plan this time and only gather information?
Nope, I'll probably react the same way if someone is in need.

Hey maybe if she does it right she can turn all the families into open bloodbath territory so they wipe each other out in an orgy of laser blasts and body explosions. We already have one family going to war with the others. Then once they cull the herds a bit, danica can help mop up whoever is left.

    Update.

    1) It's official. The universe hates Burke.
    2) Not even the most blatantly corrupt and crime ridden city in the Federation allows pizzas with spineapple on the streets.

To be honest, that guy has pre-made pizza on the counter, so he should get off his high horse.

Of course the inexplicably Italian extraterrestrial mobster planet has pizza parlors. :eyeroll:

    @Vinyadan:
They could be fake display pizzas to show the customers what the product looks like. I think that's mostly done more in bakeries, especially with cakes, but this place could do it, too.

Yeah, I wouldn't fault them for having (fake) pizzas on display. I haven't seen such but I can imagine it being a thing.
I will fault Mookie for continuing the spineapple joke and still using tomatoes, because throwing them is apparently an interstellar sign of disgust, not just a thing on earth (?)

So, how are they supposed to remain hidden during the ritual when last time Danica couldn't even see someone unrelated to her get hurt?
And what information are they even expecting to gather from this?

I'm way too distracted by the brooch on that red cloaked figure. How does she not stab herself on it? At least it's not pointed to her neck, but she's still got to get repeatedly poked in the arm by it whenever she moves. I'm sure she could have found one with a smaller knife design that wasn't so dangerous.

But it would be less stupid evil looking.
The brooch is what brings the outfit together.
Without it all she has are a Darth Sidious bathrobe and a deranged smile.
No one would know she's the leader of a assassin cult, not a inmate in a asylum.

Maybe its a case of survival bias. They give all the new applicants for the job that brooch. You either figure out how to include it into your body movements or stab yourself to death within the week.

If you are a true master assassin, in fact the QUEEN of professional killers, then managing to move in such a way that the brooch causes you no harm is trivial. I find your complaint meritless and wish you good day!

So, they plan to sneak inside, and then activate the StarPower and win.

Why do they need to be inside, surrounded by people? Knowing which building it is isn't good enough?
Why is Burke there other than another someone to protect?
    Why is Grex there?
Who cares if they go first or not if all they need is for Danica to activate the power?
As long as they are in the same building, who cares about changes in the ritual?

If someone other than Grex targets her Danica could get stabbed before she can activate her powers.

What? Which those morons that's entirely possible.

More importantly, doesn't Dani have those flashlight thingies?

    True enough.
After all, that's how Danica wins; as dumb as she is, her foes are even dumber.
Maybe that's her true superpower. She pulls everyone down on her level and beats them with experience.

Her star power is fueled by being an intellectual black hole. She sucks in the brain power of everything around her. Unfortunately, being a black hole means the intellect cant escape, so its of no use to her except as fuel.

What is an ink drip reading, and why does it seem like they are incredibly popular? Im assuming she can dominic deegan scry through ink blots rather than crystal balls and write the truth, possibly read the truth. Seriously though, "Hi, im a random person who obviously doesnt live here and has done nothing to establish myself as someone with a gift that can be trusted. Pay me money and I will use this obscure method to tell the future!" If she is capable of scrying things through her ink powers, why are they wandering instead of getting the answers via magic? I forget if DD ever explained how the guy able to see the future with casual ease and scry long distances, including across dimensions, still had to physically go out and do stuff to solve mysteries.
