Though, well, up until I was 10 our closest lake was 10ish km away (but we still went there at least weekly) and from 10 to 14 5km away, but I spent most of my summers at my grandparents or at my godparents' summer cottage where water was right next to us. From 14 til 20, my closest beach was 500m away and the other about 1,5km... they were ok, but, well. They were city lakes. So they were somewhat dirty. So, sometimes me and my friends just biked 10km to the national park to enjoy clean water.

The second time was last night or the one before - it was this lovely mellow rumble in the distance, clouds fluffy and grey, air heavy added with some amazing summer rain. The air smelt so nice afterwards, with all the lush scents from the plants around me.
Ooo, that all sounds very nice! We aren't suffering the same miserable drought as we did last summer, but I could still use some more rain just for the sheer cosiness of it.

Plus the really creepy hole that definitely went down way deeper. It was astonishing, me and boyfriend were in awe. Tried to take some pics, but they really don't give credit to how deep and... just, deep and vast it was. Definitely gotta go there again. I'll try to get yous all some pics to see!
Old mine shafts and pit mines can be pretty awe inspiring. We visited an abandoned pit mine near Ancestral Farm last summer, with a lake formed at the bottom of it. It was heavily contaminated, so there was no life whatsoever in it, and the water was incredibly clear (if somewhat turquoise) as a consequence. No swimming though, for very obvious reasons.

Not to make you mitherable, but I think you missed a few.

This reminds me of a time we had like, three or four pages worth of stuff like this in every comment. It's so long ago no it feels like it's descended into mith and legend.

Ah, that explains how they went so much faster back then. Because since the time I got here, there's been... a dozen threads. (2014? Huh, coulda sworn it was more recent than that when I joined. Time flies.)

Very impressive that you can fit multiple pages into a comment, though.

Dammit, that's the sort of pun I was trying to get in the first place!

As for accruing in-jokes, I'm aware that they get cleared out over time. I just like the idea of the entire rules list becoming hyperlinked.

It honestly feels like yesterday when randman22222 told me about Order of the Stick and the forums. It was wild. I remember him just telling me to go to the Random Banter thread and start talking. And talking about OLD in-jokes - randman made the good old Banana manifesto post way before I joined (iirc it was in RB). But I love it. So much. I love his humour and divine hatred of bananas. He's one of my best friends IRL anyways. Another friend of mine from the uni RPG society's here as well, both of these dudes inactive as of now, though.

Me slowly taking Amidus' corner, though... ah, how time flies. And the good ol' drawings. I sometimes just go and look at them. Teddy's jam jar throne, Kneebs preening my hair, shoving my middle finger at Amidus' face... ah, classics.

Oh cool a new friendly banter. Yesterday I went to my job annual picnic at Randall Island and I have a great time. It took me a long time to get there because I took the train and walk there. So anyway I eat a lot of food and we play game to get to know the staff members and play the raffle. I random shuffle and choose one card to give one of the staff to announce the winner and there was prizes such as gift cards, Yankees baseball tickets and an Ipad. Of course I didn't want because I really want those Yankees tickets but I have fun.
