    Round Four... Loading...
The below happens between Galactic Dates 217504.0.0.81 - 217506.0.0.80
Don’t forget to link to any rolls you make for ANY Attribute checks, plus rolls for rulers you will start using at the start of next round. If you want a new ruler in the next round, you must state so in your action post for this round and link to their rolls. Any increases from actions for this round are counted for the ruler you start your next round with (because it’s handier to account for by the co-GM), which may or may not be your current ruler.
    Good luck!
    Rules Alerts and Changes!
    • Using an [Intrigue] Secret Action counts for increasing the [Intrigue] stat during the round that it is used. Should the action involve a roll, Intrigue is used instead of the stat involved, with one exception: special actions. There are a few special actions that can be done secretly, and when they are, those will always use their associated stat. All other, non-special actions will use Intrigue when rolling a Secret Action. Technologies may be used to alter this ruling to suit a player’s desires, with GM Approval.
    • While using a Favor from an Organization to increase the reputation with that Org is a non-action, only one such non-action reputation increase can be done per turn. A player may attempt to roll to increase reputation with an Org, and then expend a favor to increase reputation (for a potential Rep Boost of +2) in the same round. A player must already have the Favor to use it, and cannot increase reputation by going into ‘favor-debt’.
    • An Ideology that no longer has LCs, if created by a player, has (2) turns from the round opener of it’s last lost LC to obtain a new LC. The attempt to convert an LC must come from a player who’s State Ideology is the “lost” Ideology, and they can only convert a region they own. Failure to do so in either (2) rounds will result in the Ideology being removed from the game at that time… and whatever the current Ideology is in the player’s capital becomes their new State Ideology, though the region enters Unrest. Unrest may be avoided if a [Philosophy] action is taken to accept a new State Ideology, rather then attempt to convert a region.
    • Time until Resource Requirements will be reviewed by the GM Team:
      1 Round

At the start of round 5, the GM Team will review the Resources available. Effort to acquire the required resources will be taken into account for the ‘severity’ of determination of levels of unrest or other unique events from not having the required resources.

    Growth!

Two hive-minded powers, one of land and one of sea, and neighbors besides it was only natural the Mier Formica and Melfynians, All would seek closer ties. The establishment of formal diplomatic relations would doubtless foster greater cooperation between the two stellar powers as time went on. (MFM establishes an Embassy with MYA!)

While the Kombuch appeared slightly more peaceable, if their mode of symbiosis may have disturbed those like the Lyraens, than the Geleans their galactic proximity necessitated some form of official correspondence between their people. Ground for a formal embassy is broken within a prominent Gelean arcology and a restored portion of the Kombuch’s home sphere provisioned with life support systems fitting the human delegation from the Geleans. (KBC establishes an Embassy with GLR!)

The Uplift Chorus connects further through the Rocthurhi as the Tezh add an embassy to the bustling Thylla system already populated by permanent SPR and Droccen ambassadorial stations. Unity appeared to not merely be sloganeering but legitimate strategy among the followers of the One. (TZH establishes an Embassy with RTH!)

The authority of the Ninurtine Emperor has historically been absolute, but in practice leaving things to the Council of State makes things both more simple and efficient. By maintaining a strong feudal hierarchy and ensuring that each world has a say in who they bow to, rebellion has over time become less and less common. Today, it is all but unheard of. (NUT introduces “Ninurtine Conversations” CI, which increases their die size when rolling Stabilizations!)

While the Rocthurhi were demonstrably an open and diplomatic people they were not without their own forms of security. Rules and laws are instituted to restrict religious and philosophical gatherings in size with the most generous rules favoring the current state ideology over outside influences. This societal alignment with preserving existing order would serve to keep the Rocthurhi from falling to outside ideological whims. (RTH introduces Requires Verification CI 2d8 to Resist Conversions!)

The Symbraum were an intelligent race, frighteningly so it seemed to some, but their intellects were hungry and never satiated. Where many others might have sought to crush or destroy a horde of undead rising up from dead desert worlds the UPT pushed to understand and master the arcane power which animated these mummified remains of alien species eventually gaining an understanding of this magic and thus a place as masters of this twisted sector of the void. (UPT successfully Presses Claim on E5. 1/1 success. UPT now has control of region E5. UPT gains one unit!)

Software systems are linked and optimized between Duenem OS and the more rudimentary but no less effective OS of the large thinking machines nearby. As the Duenem share their accumulated knowledge and acquire that collected by their fellow AI the two civilizations grow closer though remain not yet fully integrated. (DNM Presses Claim on V22. 1/2 successes.)

Under the unifying ideology of the One and with the support of their comrades the Rocthurhi the Stellar People’s Republic extends itself diplomatically to its neighbors offering them a chance to join the glorious revolution under a carefully guiding hand. Negotiations were still ongoing with the local populace but they did appear amenable to cooperation with their more advanced stellar neighbor. (SPR successfully Presses Claim on S9. 1/2 successes.)

Taking advantage of their newfound friendship with a vicious faction of crabs the Syndrome slowly accumulate respect and power among this faction’s leadership owing to their provision of guns and medical supplies. The Syndrome’s expertise in fields biological is put to good use as the crabmen are unafraid to deploy carefully designed plague warfare against their intercontinental enemies allowing them to sweep in and capture afflicted cities. In only a couple years the once small indistinguishable faction of crabmen chosen by the Syndrome for sponsorship have grown to occupy half of their homeworld facing now a ramshackle coalition of the remaining factions who seem doomed to fall before the scions of Syndrome might. (SYN successfully Presses Claim on R22. 1/2 successes.)

Having married into the agrarian society of Drocc-kin native to the populated world in this sector the Droccen Imperium has begun to press on integrating the legal governance of the neighboring regions of space. Negotiations are slow going but they are progressing as the natives recognize the dangers independence could bring in a world filled with so many varied peoples and outlooks. (DCC successfully Presses Claim on F18. 1/2 successes.)

Forced to lean on the Sisterhood for support Droccen representatives in this Core border region espouse their government’s commitment to a safe and prosperous galaxy preserved through the careful vigilance of intelligent people regarding the Core. Given news of Gelean assaults and Rothuun threats the much more peaceful approach of the Droccen is a welcome change. While negotiation was still necessary to integrate the sector the locals seemed much happier to negotiate than to be conquered. (DCC successfully Presses Claim on H18 with SoS support. 1/2 successes.)

The Navigators were more than willing to reenter an arrangement with the new Tal-Amanyn government, provided they met some concessions… Negotiations over what those concessions would and could entail takes up more than a year but at last negotiations do begin to proceed towards a real tangible arrangement between the two populations. (CBS successfully Presses Claim on H10. 1/2 successes.)

The clever plans laid by the Gelean Republic proceed rather well, with their own subtly technician entering the competition to help some of the more extreme subfactions gain power on behalf of the Republic. Their efforts are successful in upsetting the internal balance, but at the cost of being discovered at some point as a more to push to Gelean power. Regardless, with further funding and attention, Gelean killbot production could outpace that of the other groups and result in them coming out on top. (GLR successfully Creates a Claim on L8. This Claim lasts as long as Admiral Elizabeth remains leader.)

While the Floobers were more aggressive than a cursory assessment might suggest they were not unreasonable. The arrival of the Vilari represented an advancement in galactic technology unknown but potentially of interest to the morphic intelligences. The willingness of the Sodality to discuss these matters and exchange information was well received among Floober leadership and the process was begun to see to the integration of the sector with the great galactic community under Vilari protection and guidance. (VLS successfully Creates a Claim on R6. This Claim lasts as long as Speaker Ren-Kulto is the leader.)

Between the heavy nightmares that haunt D22 and the lack of military strength, the Ndoda have little challenge asserting themselves as the most capable leadership in the area. The people here aren’t terribly opposed to integration, with their own governments so scattered and incapable. It seems that they even hope - more than just a little bit - that this advanced space faring nation can help them get to the bottom of the nightmares that define life on their world. The question remains - will the Ndoda themselves be able to resist the same terrors that plague the natives? (NDA successfully creates a claim in D22. This Claim lasts as long as Umkhonto Ukiphosa Elunxwemeni remains leader.)

Kombuch colonies have begun to pop up in remote parts of the Lyraen inhabited sector nearby to the mushrooms’ home Dyson sphere. The poor and desperate as well as the curious and daring make sojourns to these new fungal colonies seeking to exchange their individual existences for the opportunity to serve and become something greater than themselves. The interstellar Kombuch fascinate, and horrify many, but their spreading influence on the planet could not be denied and forced planetary leadership to the negotiation table. (KBC successfully creates a claim in J8. This Claim lasts as long as Communicator Bulbous Jellydisc remains leader.)

The Celenians were undeniably conquerors, but they at least brought cheap gifts and entertainment with their tyranny and for the long isolated Ordivicians that counted for a lot. Older smiths on the planet continue to grumble about their new lot in the universe but the vast majority of younger natives appear content, even hopeful, about what the future will bring now that they were part of a powerful stellar force like the Republic. (CEL successfully stabilizes Q25. Q25 is Stable.)

Supplies and civilian support are provisioned to the “quarantine” zone set up by UPT invasion of this region of nearby space bringing stability to the newly annexed region of. (UPT successfully stabilizes F6. F6 is Stable.)

The Geleans had made a splash in the region once containing Ascendant Aurora, of that there was no doubt, and the continued presence of followers of the One meant acceptance of Geleans as good or kind was still a long way off but they could be recognized still as an effective government even if they were regarded warily for their willingness to blow things up. Supplies reach their destinations, schools are well funded, and peace was thoroughly enforced on the streets. It would likely take longer to earn the love of the local population but at least for now the Geleans had their respect. (GLR successfully stabilizes L10. L10 is Stable)

The war with the trees ends with an armistice and formal recognition of the locals rights to fill their home air with whatever form of vulgar pollen they choose. The trees seem nonplussed by this arrangement and the Kombuch begin importing materials and colonies from their home sector settling this frontier under their secure dominion. (KBC successfully stabilizes H6. H6 is Stable)

The Eternal Assembly impresses upon the recently annexed locals what a foolish thought denying their right to rule over them would be. Accompanied by the tender hand of velvet rule there doesn’t appear to be much cause for rebellion under this new administration. While the Alysians may have conquered the area through no uncertain terms it appeared beyond demands for the recognition of Alysian sovereignty here their desires for involvement in day to day life was more or less nonexistent. (EAA successfully stabilizes K23. K23 is Stable)

Mier Formica colonizes swarm into this largely unoccupied region of space building orbital and oceanic colony bases from which they grow and spread out through the sector. Shipping routes are widened or added to include this new area of Formican space and quickly the history of military occupation fades away in light of this new civilian inhabitation. (MFM successfully stabilizes D14. D14 is Stable)

Hoping to ingratiate themselves with the Sisterhood the Melfynians send ambassadors to offer support to the monastic order during this trying time for them. While certainly not much needed ships the Melfynian words and pledges do mean something to the beleaguered Sisterhood and note is made of the Melfynians in official records. (MYA successfully increases reputation with the SoS from 0 to 1)

While neither taking advantage of nor paying attention to the work offered and done by the Couriers the Harmony seeks to grow their relations with the Cosmic Couriers given their nearby Relay. The inclusive Harmony soon grows closer with the Couriers who politely resend their previous discoveries in galactic sector D22 from the previous years when they spot Harmony vessels seeking the scout the sector. (HMY successfully increases reputation with the CmC from 0 to 1)

A polite greeting coupled with a welcoming gift can go a long way in an age of ruthless expansion across the stars. The advanced relays that the CmC possess seem to be in close communion, and before long the space whales so kindly donated by the republic are seen across the galaxy as a demonstration of the sheer scale of things that can be moved for the right price. Naturally, they are happy to inform people where and how they got these whales, generally satisfied with their first encounter with the Geleans. (GLR successfully increases reputation with the CmC from 0 to 1)

Communicator Jellydisc carefully begins to navigate the political situation that exists between the leadership and workers in region I9. The leaders are organic beings who evolved on their own, and have reached a point where they now have created synthetic AI robot workers whom have achieved independent intelligence. In a careful dance between both factions, the Kombuch Communicator manages to make promises that satisfy both sides… for now. Failure to meet those promises soon will result in more than just the Kombuch being unwelcome, but likely also war between the two factions.
(KBC successfully navigates the complicated political atmosphere of i9 to reach what may be a third alternative to their previous CHOICE. KBC must use both an Economy action this round to replace the Synthetic robots with “dumb” robots (and) an Economy action roll this round to transport the Synthetics to H6 safely and successfully, TN 12. Failure to take both actions this round will result in increased hostilities from region I9. Failing the roll results in no rewards from the Synthetics. Successful completion of these two actions, even with a failed roll for the second one, will provide a free Claim on region I9, in recognition of finding a peaceful resolution to a tense situation.)

The mysteries of SPACE KING Jacques Delon are finally revealed in his massively popular autobiography I DIDN’T WRITE THIS BUT THE MAIN CHARACTER IS AMAZING. The new capital of the Knights Vacio, region Q11, seems to have a massively mechanized planetoid as it’s primary place of power, in addition to it’s lush planets that orbit a blue sun. The planetoid, according to SPACE KING’s book, was built by some unknown Ancient race, and the local humans in the region had been using it as a prison reception area. SPACE KING Delon managed to stumble into discern it’s mysteries after someone forgot to lock him in his cell and went from a regular Squire to an incredibly buff and powerful individual, who quickly subjugated convinced the locals that his way was the correct way. By FLEXING his BRAIN MUSCLES he was then able to convince the rest of the squires of the Knights Vacio to join him, and became SPACE KING. The end. SPACE KING rated the book a 9 out of 10 FLEXES, with one point deducted from perfection because there were not enough pictures of himself in it. (KNV successfully moves their capital to Q11, which has 0 units, follows the Chivalric Codes, and has Pink Wood [Good]. Hollow (R12) is in Unrest. SPACE KING is a normal humanoid again, but keeps his mighty muscles. Lucky us?)

    Trade!

Reaching out the long arm of the market the Guild Empire of Nyx funnels funding into the disputed sorcerer territory nearby to the overflowing Kryptid Civil War. Additional sorcerers are recruited and trained amidst the conflict with the invading Kryptid faction and a portion of these new sorcerers sign contracts with Nyx to come and serve the mercantile power opposite the Core after their homeworld tours of duty were complete. (GEN increases quantity of M23 Sorcerers from [Minor] to [Good] gaining control of TP2!)

Capitalizing on their recent introduction to the native Floobers the Vilari successfully negotiate a trade arrangement with the bloblike natives exchanging simple Vilari technologies for the tellurim waste produced by the natives. (VLS successfully Buys [Tellurim] R6 TP1.)

The Sublime Republic cautiously sends researchers and acquisition teams to gain control over a portion of the crystalized planet nearby to their capital system. The unusual means by which the inhabitants were crystallized would surely keep SPR scientists busy for decades to come. (SPR successfully Buys [Crystal Skulls] T6 TP2.)

Completing a trade deal with their galactic neighbors the Kron secure importation of the Ndoda’s unique Entabeni Cloth satisfying demands for comfort even if many within the King-General’s army would have preferred booze to blankets. (KRO successfully Buys [Entabeni Cloth] NDA E21 TP2.)

The Guild-Empire of Nyx stirs from its isolation reaching economic tendrils out across the nearby sectors of space to acquire a significant stake in the Kill Bots created by the nearby sublight ‘empire’ and the unique Angel Wings traded on the black hole orbitor discovered by the Geleans. Stockpiles of these resources soon fill Nyxian vaults. (GEN successfully Buys [Kill Bots] L8 TP1 & TP2)
(GEN successfully Buys [Angel Wings] K7 TP1)

Although separated by thousands of lightyears the Lyraens native to the sector outside Kombuch space are introduced to their Lyraen brothers and sisters during the Lyraen Conference back in Lyrae’s home system and come to be infatuated with their long lost cousins who enjoy the direct gracing light of Lyrae. A local powder lord takes it upon himself to make a grand gesture to his distant relatives arranging for the dispatching of cargo probes packed full of marching powder to be sent as a sign of goodwill and camaraderie to the Lyraens. (LYR gains J8 Cyreilean Marching Powder TP 2!)

While negotiations between the Luminary Proxos, sector natives, Etherites, Alysians and the Lyraens were conducted elsewhere in the region Alysian mercantile interests met privately with the spellbenders of the region to negotiate a contract for Alysian importation of their magi-craft. Negotiations here are far less contentious than those involving so many and imports of wands are soon regularly received on Alysian star bases. (EAA successfully Buys [Twisted Wands] J26 TP2)

Ndoda purchasers journey to the neighboring region containing the Courier Relay and offer to exchange trade goods for shipments of the unusual medicine produced by the nightly haunted inhabitants of this region. Curious not only about the Ndoda reaction biochemically it was hoped perhaps the pills could help accelerate other medical understanding.
(NDA successfully buys [Dream Eating pills] D22 TP2)

The Duenem were an industrious and generous race but their calculated deals made sure to benefit the synthetic collective ultimately. Negotiations long ongoing eventually materialize the shipment of the Smokers’ Subspace Camels into Duenem space for utilization and study. (DNM successfully buys [Subspace Camels] W23 TP1)

The Commonwealth of Zera was a wealthy power and it flexed that wealth effectively buying out stakes in nearby Vanadium mines and refineries as well as acquiring for the mass shipment of Pocket Factories which quickly prove popular among Zera citizens. More than a few individual fortunes are made as importation of these valuable resources becomes a new standard expected by the population. (CWZ successfully buys [Pocket Factories] E25 TP2)
(CWZ successfully buys [Vanadium] F28 TP1)

    Ideology!

The psychic web grows wider as the Kamasati reach out and are welcomed with jubilant reception by the Unified Public Trust. Teachings of the ideology espoused by the High Dreamer spread like wildfire throughout the interconnected Symbraum species reaching the most senior levels in mere months and being proclaimed officially endorsed shortly thereafter. (KSP successfully converts UPT Capital, E7, to Kamasati! UPT declares Kamasati their State Ideology!)

As their champion moves to bring this neighboring region under political dominion of the Kamsati godly dreamers come bearing ideological dominion to be shared among the intelligent races of the sector turning them towards the revelation of their own divinity. (KSP successfully converts region M5 to Kamasati)

OwO wuvs spweading the knowwedge of itself among the staws! A Grymlan probe loaded down with malware a sample of OwO’s consciousness shoots out from Grymlan space on a course that takes it piercing quickly through the Core and out the other side where it was expected and received by Melfynians, All on their homeworld. Melfynian systems are loaded down with the new information in short order granting OwO a base of operations on the opposite side of the galaxy from its origin point among the Combine. (P5 used; OwO successfully converts MYA Capital, F14, to OwO)

Messages from the Sanctum suddenly stop! No one can contact them at all! After two galactic years, the OMS finally notifies everyone who attempts to query their home system that the Sanctum as a whole has collapsed. While information is sparse, and details are few, eventually someone from region T16 claims to be a refugee from Sanctum and explains via OMS that Sanctum’s less developed races somehow managed to get a hold of advanced technology and rose up to overwhelm the previously superior Sanctum. The refugee explains that the newly advanced rebels are now bickering amongst themselves for whom is the new governing body of the region, and Sanctum is no longer a stable place to live. Many other refugees left, heading towards the Federated Church of Origin’s End. Some do eventually make it there, but others seem to have settled in other regions, and are spreading the word of the Church of Rust. The refugee that makes all these posts states that they have found a home with the Phaz in T16, who seem receptive to the Church’s teachings. Other refugees from the collapse of Sanctum soon report in that they also have begun to spread the message of the Church of Rust, and quickly - while details on some of the regions are not forthcoming - T16, S17, and T18 all report to being followers of the Church of Rust! (Sanctum has collapsed! U17 becomes unowned, and may be claimed by a player. Alternatively, it may be claimed as a new capital for a new player. Exploration is not required of the region, but proceeding with caution may be wise as it does not currently have a stable government. T16, S17, and T18 LCs now follow the Church of Rust!)

The northeast of Axiom lights up with activity undertaken in the name of the One. SPR, Rocthurhi, and Tezh Consensus philosophers fly across their regional area of space seeking to bring peace and knowledge to their galactic neighbors. From the nearby Courier relay to the vast expanses of varied life that fills the void between these three stellar powers word of Oneness reaches billions through broadcast, scripture, and direct proselytizing by educated philosophers from each of these three stellar societies. The Rocthurhi make a grand showing of their ideology all throughout the region of space just south of their own borders between themselves and the Tezh while the Tezh themselves reach up northwards connecting the growing network of One adherent sectors into a large blanket encompassing much of the explored northeast. (SPR successfully converts T6 to The One)
(SPR successfully converts T8 to The One)
(RTH successfully converts R10 to The One)
(RTH successfully Spreads Knowledge of The One to T12, U13, and U11)
(TZH successfully converts U13, W13, and V16 to The One)

The Knight Vacio move their capital to the SPACE KING Capital, but seem to be followed by the reformations conducted by the Church of Rust… Cloning and smithing is given divine purpose, helping to prevent semblances of collapse despite the strange times that the knights find themselves in. (FCO successfully converts Q11 to Church of Rust)

Taurina 1, homeworld of the Rothuun Minotaurs, receives what is surprisingly the most traffic in their quadrant of the galaxy. The Church of Rust, the Church of Iteus, OwO, and the Sisterhood of Silence all compete to bend the ear of the bloodthirsty people, only to find that they are now targets for the zealots among the people that believe in the Cult of Blood. The Church of Iteus and OwO receive shelter from the government, having a slightly easier time adjusting.. But it is still jarring to receive such hostility. After surviving several duels and assassination attempts between the lot of them, crowds of people seem to come to the conclusion that nothing will be solved by preaching at one another. The only proper way to settle the most worthy faith is to judge them through battle - and so a representative of each religion is taken to the Smashstone Arena, to fight to the death. Seen by many as cowardly, the Sisterhood declines to participate in deference to a diplomatic deal already established. Additionally, lacking any true people, OwO receives a wizened Rothuun that has taken quickly to their teachings… And the Cult of Blood’s leader is none other than a famed war veteran, whose strength is legendary even among this nation of great warriors. The fighting is brutal considering the gladiatorial weapons provided - and terribly bloody. Details that return to the nations who sent their people are sparse, but by the end of it the results are clear… A picture circulates across the stars, the Church of Rust’s candidate standing over the corpse of the last opponent, none other than the Blood Cult’s warrior, wounded but victorious. Their victory is celebrated through the streets of Taurina, and the Church of Rust quickly takes hold as the ‘new way forward’ for the majority of Rothuun. (FCO successfully converts Q19 from the Cult of Blood to Church of Rust)

While the Droccen had worked to build up Korima, intergalactic superstar, as a means to sway the Celestians towards the One they now found themselves met on the celebrity stage by Frvamas of the Nolkir. Korima’s vlog popularity declines as many more Celestians tune in to watch Frvamas gaff his way through interviews and livestream outrageous parties from his luxurious abode. Core supporters of Korima are up in arms over this shift in popularity and attempt to mount a campaign to “Subscribe to Korima” but the tide seems firmly turned for now and Frvamas dominates the airwaves. (SVA successfully converts Olympia (I21) from the One to the Nine Lights)

Too many people on Olymipa (I21) love the memes created by the Droccen and their Guardians. Enough of them begin to aspire to adhere to similar Droceen culture norms that there is significant enough pressure to CEO Natasha Liwei that - before Frvamas fever takes over - the Celestians officially declare their state Ideology to be The One.
(Before being converted, CLS declares the One as their state ideology! This satisfies a request from SoS to DCC. DCC gains +2 Reputation with the Sisterhood of Silence!)

The Nolkir have managed to make peaceful contact with their Alysian neighbors and begun sharing with them the Nine Lights. A handful of senior Alysians are even granted audience with Viiqr-Zel Mrrn who while largely disinterested does demonstrate godlike powers in front of the awe-struck Alysians. The Assembly is struck with a great disruption of debate as Alysians discuss this new perspective brought by outsiders and soon even Alysia herself comes to be petitioned for her opinion regarding this popular new belief. (SVA successfully converts Alysian Prime (K25) to the Nine Lights)

The Meritocracy’s church of Realtaism grows in power as it manages to make contact with the Formicans and a nearby sector revealed by the church’s own probes just recently. The dualistic faith of Realtaism proves popular among the locals nearby as well as the Formicans who surrender their more rudimentary belief in a universal balance for the defined tenets of Realtaism. The Federated Churches of Origin's End send out a massive ship to observe the continuing aggression among the Kryptids. While their message regarding the Church of Rust is not well received by the One High Maxim, many of the rest of the space sector are growing weary of constant - seemingly never ending - civil war. The humanitarian efforts made by the Federated Churches are diverse enough that the Technocratic Caliphate and the Casrule Movement start to see the benefits of working with believers of the OI and their Sainted individuals... at the very least, the ideas that the Church of Rust brings has the unintended side effect of spurring new ideas for weaponry in the region. Enough that those who follow the One High Maxim begrudgingly start to visit the Rass within their Rhosh-sent support fleet vessel. Especially as, at the start, the Rass make every effort to treat with each of the three sides of the civil war both completely separately and completely equally. While there is no decisive victor for the conflict that continues to ravage the region, the majority of Kryptids now do seem to ascribe to the Church of Rust, with the One High Maxim still being the majority hold out.

    Terror!

The Geleans are attacked! The recent conquered Space Whaler region of L10 managed to send a scout ship back to the capital, with limited data. The Gelean First Fleet that had remained to ensure the “loyalty” of the people in the region has been completely wiped out. Luckily, the An’Null’s Hopefuls were also able to retreat from the area, only losing a few ships of their own. They aren’t quite sure where the attacking fleet came from, but it was a very large complement of advanced ships, and more surprising: data on the attacking ships is sparse, as though it has been corrupted! The few blurred pictures that are able to be recovered seem to suggest large carrier like vessels with a multitude of attack drones. They arrived quickly, destroyed whatever they could, and one (damaged) brave vessel of Hopefuls stayed behind and was able to report that they gathered as much of the metal parts of the blown apart Gelean First Fleet before disappearing in a flash of something much more complex than Gravity Latch Drive. The people of L10 insist that GLR build a military base, something to replace the lost monastery with good scanning equipment, in the region! (GLR loses [1] Unit. GLR must build a [5] action Military/Intrigue base in region L10 by the start of Round 6, or L10 will go into Anarchy. L10 remains stable at this time.)

The Rothuun’s version of ‘diplomacy’ leaves many things to be desired, especially in Baryshev (P18). With a stated purpose of removing dissidents, many of the Minotaurs take this to mean “kill anyone who continues to resist”, and many peaceful Ogatvezhiy die. While many of the animal-like humanoids continue to grin and bear it, the continued heavy-handed “diplomacy” has many more of the peace and Honey-loving bear-people fleeing their homes and - if the Rothuun aren’t careful - may result in the Ogatvezhiy finding a reason to be less peaceful.
(RMT fails to stabilize region P18, and continues to kill ‘dissidents’. While the degree of stabilization does not change for the region this round, a second failed attempt - or no attempt at all - next round will result in the region gaining a unit of rebels and the region will go into Anarchy. {CHOICE} For every Diplomacy action RMT spends this round towards stabilizing the region, including the roll to attempt to stabilize, they will gain a +1 to the roll, so long as no Military actions are taken this round (OR) RMT may choose to use (2) Military Actions, both of which must be rolled at TN 14, to remove half the populace of Ogatvezhiy from Baryshev, ensure that region P18 remains only at Unrest until the start of round 9. Choosing this option reduces the Resource Quantity of Hyper Honey to [Minor].)

Within the Church of Iteus, a former Archdeaon - a vessel for the message sent by Guardian - passes away. The knowledge parasite that contained the message, however, seems to have survived all this time! Now known to not be a part of Iteus himself, there are still those in the Church who hope that a volunteer will step forth to try and obtain more knowledge from the parasite, even if it means consumption once more… though a minority state that its use is dangerous, blasphemous, and the knowledge should be forbidden, and the parasite destroyed. ({CHOICE} ITS may choose, as an Intrigue action, to use the parasite again, losing -1 Philosophy, gaining +1 Intrigue, and ask the Head GM one question about the Simulacrum ((OR)) as a Philosophy action, destroy the parasite, and gain a +1 to a single conversion attempt during Round 5. Taking no action provides no benefit or detriment, but the CHOICE is only available for Round 4.)

Though the locals of J26 are very receptive towards the Etherites overtures to find a peaceful resolution, the Luminary, Proxos, proves to be a stubborn star being. Lyrae herself comes to attempt to speak with it, to convince it that if it doesn’t choose to enter a willing vessel, both the Etherites and the Eternal Assembly of Alysia will likely help the Triarte Spellbenders in exorcising the Luminary’s mind from it’s star-like body. Proxos, however, is quite unconcerned and seemingly unconvinced that the Lyraens can help it change bodies. It is bored, and wants to start over with a new planet while also growing a little larger as a star… and refuses to listen to further diplomatic attempts, even when EAA makes efforts to help smooth things over. Only when EAA, ETH, and LYR all petition for someone to help them - and are surprised when the Cosmic Couriers answer - does Proxos begin to bend. It is unclear exactly what the Courier representative says to the Luminary, but within a week, it confirms that it would be willing to travel in a willing Lyraen host body… though it will be going with the Couriers, and not the Lyraens. With some clever spellwork, and a great deal of effort exerted by all three Powers, the web the Triarte Spellbenders were building to remove Proxos instead is altered to place the Luminary in a new body. The planet is saved! Proxos is now in a lupine Lyraen, and leaves with the Courier representative to go exploring. The Triarte locals of J26 are very pleased.
(EAA gains a Claim to region J26. ETH gains ownership of TP#1 [Twisted Wands] of J26. Should the region be claimed - diplomatically - by EAA or ETH before Round 7 begins, LYR will receive +1 Unit, as many whom would otherwise stand down in the face of a new governments protections will instead choose to aid LYR. LYR, EAA, and ETH each owe CmC [1] favor.)

The Unified Public Trust seems to have encountered a difficulty in region D8. While no one knows quite for sure what happened - the Symbraum aren’t saying - other local Stellar Powers do note that D8 has increased its military might. (D8 gains a unit. An investigation roll can determine more information about what happened.)

G27 still remains enigmatic to the Commonwealth, but CWZ can’t just let some of it’s own explorers have an adventure without at least trying to interview the - now - captives. Expert journalist investigators and Censorship Managers work together to infiltrate, locate, interview, and even rescue the captive crew. Best of all, the crew finally gets to see the end of the show that the locals of G27 interrupted, which had been bugging them for almost two Galactic years. Speaking of G27, they don’t seem to appreciate being turned into villains for an otherwise very popular Entertainment broadcast for the sector. The locals of the aggrieved region seem to recall their last message was “never come into the sector again, or be destroyed!”. Good news for the Commonwealth of Zara? They get to have a sequel to a popular broadcast! Bad news? G27 has come to cancel their networks! (G27 attacks CWZ capital, G25, with [2] Units of Dangerous Dragoons. CWZ must defend this round, or lose control of their region to the Dragoons and TP#3 of G25 will be destroyed.)

    Survey Failures

The Technocratic Caliphate attempts to survey nearby N22, but their satellite drones are only able to reveal that there is some kind of morphing metallic substance in the area before they are lost. The Kryptid Civil War each receive the same message: Please send more delicious metal. Or we will come take it. (KCW fails to survey into N22. N22 seems… hungry for metal.)

Hackers! Spammers! Unpaid for advertising! Media broadcasters within the Commonwealth are dealing with more than just imminent threats to their existence: their ratings are dropping! Someone is leaking the planned schedule for the yearly exploration season, and tipping off nearby regions that the Commonwealth is coming. Region F26 meets the exploration (and broadcast) teams at their borders, with [2] Units of Mechanized Activators and politely declines to sign any waivers, barring them from broadcasting any details of the region. In a mad scramble to have something available for airing, the broadcast team instead turns it’s eye towards finding out who leaked the information, creating a wildly popular show on pure speculation with no evidence, going so far as to accuse Governor Mizusk Iskanem of being the leak! If the Commonwealth doesn’t do something about this soon, people will lose faith in the Governor. (CWZ fails to survey F26, and {CHOICE} must either use an Intrigue action to conduct an internal investigation during Round 4 to determine the source of the leak [TN 12] ((OR)) CWZ will go into Unrest, if Governor Mizusk Iskanem does not step down. Failure to do either a successful investigation or change leaders will cause the Commonwealth to go straight to Unstable, as paranoia spreads!)

    War!

A psychic force of incredible strength capable of turning the strengths of the enemies into their fear and self-defeat Prator Qain of the Kamasati is expected to serve the High Dreamer and his pantheon well as an enforcer of their psychic will. (KSP recruits General “Prator Qain” with a Military Score of 8)

The Nine Lights or virtues espoused by the Nolkir were impossibly tied into their worship of the nine great sphinxes of their home system and while the mighty creatures chose not to involve themselves in mortal affairs they were known to make appearances where their stalwart believers made landing. The Nolkir were clearly their favored and self-created race but none could deny the splendor of gazing upon a god, even a foreign god, and where the Nolkir made themselves permanent residents they dragged the attention of their gods who captured the minds of even non-Nolkir looking out upon their newly arrived conquerors. (SVA introduces Tactical Doctrine “The Second Crusade!” After a successfully tactical roll: the Svaatyr Theocracy gains a +2 to convert the region the following round OR after winning the combat, the recently conquered region converts to their State Ideology automatically)

While the Sisterhood were eagerly accepting new recruits to replace their quickly diminishing reserves they were still faced with retirements from active service by Sisters who could no longer physically keep up with the requirements of vigil duty. A group of these retired Sisters, not ready to accept their time in service to the One was at an end and unwilling to accept administrative roles within the Sisterhood, journey to Droccen where they petition the Library of the Eternal Shard to grant their souls Guardian bodies bringing their personal wealth to contribute to the task and though it takes nearly two years a series of Guardian frames are constructed expressly for this purpose. Some are concerned that these Sisters being non-Droccen might cause the ritual to fail but it succeeds and a platoon of Guardian Sisters pledge themselves to the Droccen Empress Sai that they may continue to fight for the One. (DCC gains 1 Unit of Guardian Sisters!)

Formican ships venture into the heavily automated sector near to their home system hoping to acquire control over the silent automaton fleet that worked the resources of the system. Unfortunately for the Formicans the automatons were prepared to fight off those they perceived as hostile invaders but not as prepared as they needed to be. While the automatons under the AI leadership of Tunneler Prime do manage to bore massive ship-stopping holes through many of the Formican invasion fleet’s cruisers hindering the invasion they ultimately fall to the tactical acumen of Tapinoma Mier and her fleet’s sub commanders who maintain discipline despite the chaos of fighting tunneling drones tearing through hull plating and through the long lens of war as opposed to the short lens of battle realize victory in this sector annexing it in the name of queen and colony.

The Kronin were warriors, of that none in Axiom could have a doubt in the wake of their decisive victory over the Bingo bots of galactic sector F28. King-General Krazkul laughs at the textbook defenses set up by B.I.N.G.O. central command boasting that no cabal of retiree miners stood a chance against the King-General of Kron. It quickly becomes apparent this was no mere boast as the King-General deftly commands his warriors to lure out and ambush the defending drone fleets in small no-win engagements for the drones decimating their numbers with the practiced precision that marked the King-General’s tactical experience. In just under a year the Kronin fleet reaches the habitation dome in which the majority of the local population resided and extracted terms of surrender from the cantankerous old miners living there.

It seems perhaps the Technocratic Caliphate of the Kryptids had overplayed their hand in assuming they could turn their backs on their civil war brethren in a play to secure extrasolar lands for themselves. The space navy and disciplined army of Lord Hops prove far less permeable than General Qaxin had first believed and continual problems traced back to sabotage pointed towards there being Kasrule or High Maxim agents moving among the invasion fleet. Unwilling to risk a total loss of Caliphate forces in an engagement he was uncertain was winnable Qaxin orders a general retreat after only six months of campaign, a campaign that had largely been nothing more than scouting probes and limited engagement. However the General does extensively mine the border on his way out resulting in significant casualties to the native forces before forcing them to break off pursuit. Broadcasts by Lord Hops congratulating his men and his nation on their hard won victory over these vile alien invaders is picked up, before being mercilessly blacked out, all the way in Kryptid space.

While the Caliphate may have fared poorly against Lord Hops and his armada the Casrule Movement of Kryptids show none of the hesitant assessment in their engagement with the nearby sorcerers. The One High Maxim had blown its opportunity for reaching an accord and the Casrule sought to turn an enemy’s lost ally into their own gain. The locals despite their immense arcane power were both unused to and unprepared for total war as conducted by the Kryptids and their leadership had grown more reliant on arcane and philosophical knowledge than on combat prowess. This would prove to be a fatal error on the part of the locals who find themselves quickly cut off from one another and surrounded by Kasrule ships and warriors who secure either surrender or death from the sorcerers in the sector. The First Equals celebrate a great victory after a yearlong campaign when the last of the sorcerous holdouts falls to their movement granting the Casrule a significant edge over their single-planetary bound brethren back home.

Confident in their victory the Rothuun minotaurs under Kzarna Harpooner blast off into a nearby sector expecting to quickly cow the mysterious Miracle Men and seize the Miracle Machines for themselves. Unfortunately for the Rothuun their overconfidence proves to be their undoing as the enigmatic Commandant utilizes their assets to their fullest extent equipping Miracle Men with devastating weaponry and ships produced at least in part by the wondrous machines kept locked under Commandant control. The Minotaurs attempt twice over the course of their fourteen month campaign to launch a landing against the Commandant’s station and both times suffer significant losses on approach and barely push past the hangars and outer ring levels before being killed or repelled by the space station’s defenses. Despite these losses relating to the Commandant’s personal demesne however the minotaurs do eventually focus their efforts on securing the other areas of the sector which are lightly guarded or lacking defenses at all allowing the Rothuun to better position themselves for another assault against the Commandant in the upcoming year.

Speaker Zel-Dara herself leads the invasion alongside well regarded Masters returning from retirement to aid in this glorious quest. Unfortunately for the Watchers the natives appeared to possess their own arcane powers to rival that of the Source and a series of engagements between Horizon warriors and local wand slingers leaves a majority of Zel-Dara’s trusted Masters dead or grievously wounded. Hoping to put a decisive end to the conflict Zel-Dara challenges Lord Tybel, leader of the wand slingers to a duel to decide the fate of the sector. Tybel agrees and the two warriors of might and magic face off on an elevated plateau in the badlands of the regional capital planet. The fight is brutal and bloody lasting almost half an hour but eventually Zel-Dara lands a killing blow on Tybel but not before he incants a deadly curse on his opponent. The locals view such an act as dishonorable but some see their leader as attempting to give them the opportunity to continue the fight regardless of the outcome. Discovery!

UPT researchers link up with Black Sun veterans of the Lost Fleet Expedition to review Caller technology signals and discoveries related to the uncovery of Disproven Theory. Equipped with a new wealth of knowledge regarding the ancient Caller’s preferred signals and means of construction a UPT expedition is launched into the border regions of newly scouted space. After months of searching a ping is detected very nearly matching the readings recorded for Disproven Theory and the Symbraum move in to investigate. They discover at the edges of the stellar system containing the Sarcophagi Worlds a long degraded ring world, very small in size and clearly having suffered catastrophic failure at the hands of an asteroid or hostile projectile. Multispectrum scans of the structure reveal a functioning computer module deep within its hidden recesses that UPT engineers spend a few weeks carefully extracting without disabling its curiously functional power supply. Shortly after extraction the server whirs to life and ejects a small data cube that glowed faintly with yellow light and was swiftly identified as the source for Caller-related readings. Perusal of the cube’s data stores reveals a great deal of philosophical knowledge crammed into the small cube’s data stores, enough to fill multiple libraries with teachings and heady speculations. (UPT recovers Caller Fragment Library of Truth! Effect: +1 New Leader Philosophy stat generation roll)

The One High Maxim was growing desperate with negotiations with the sorcerers breaking down and the invasion of the Kasrule disrupting further chances to speak peacefully with their neighbors. A small cadre of loyal Kryptids are dispatched into unclaimed poorly scouted space seeking rumors or trails that might lead them to a Caller Fragment. Eventually the cadre comes across a promising lead; a junk trader who did heavy business with the Jackstar Free Union claims to have recently traded a scrapped JFU fightercraft to an enterprising independent privateer who was pursuing a thief on behalf of the Miracle Men who claimed the thief had stolen a Caller Fragment from their ruler. The veracity of this claim of former ownership was questionable but the Kryptids do track the privateer and find him engaged with who they presume to be the thief. The Kryptids make short work of both ships and board them seeking out and pulling out an impressive engine module from the thief’s ship which hummed with arcane energies recognized as Caller power. The module was inscribed with the name Forceful Propaganda and limited testing showed the module could capture excess energy from weapons systems and transform it into usable thrust that managed not to tear GLDs apart. The effect seemed to grow and radiate in response to increased weapon fire energy allowing utility by an entire fleet of warships if necessary. The High Maxim’s generals seem pleased with this discovery and the two other Kryptid factions cast hungry eyes at this new piece on the field of their civil war. (KCW recovers Caller Fragment Forceful Propaganda! Effect: Reduce ZoI penalties on Military rolls once/round)

The Jackstar Union had made it their unyielding mission in the wake of a cargo robbery to seek out and destroy any sign of Eradicator activity within their sphere of influence. Two concurrent investigations were launched hoping to gain information on further Eradicator activity and after a couple of years an impressive file is presented to Grand Admiral Tienlung by Union investigators. Reconnaissance by a number of small JFU crews has revealed the location of a nearby Eradicator base. The Journey’s End was a retrofitted generation ship turned into a den of iniquity and crime ruled by An’Null lieutenant Commodore Emti who is believed to have ordered the assault on JFU ships. The investigators managed to barter the right to board the generation ship and discovered its engines were functional at sublight but lacked GLD although half of the massive ship was cordoned off to serve as hangar bays for a significant number of ANE fightercraft and small cruisers which did appear to be GLD equipped. The investigators even managed to download a data dump of unsecured transmissions between Eradicator bases and while no coordinates could be extracted it became obvious that the Shadow Admiral was currently on this side of the galaxy though seemingly far outside JFU reach, at least for now… (JFU discovers an ANE base in O31, not the HQ. HQ/Shadow Admiral is currently on the south side of the Core but outside JFU ZoI. Suspected existence of six current ANE bases including their HQ.)

Celestian researchers were making efforts to create a pocket universe storage system, when they inadvertently discovered a manner to create the black hole now known as Prosperity’s End. This has cost many people their lives, removed many people from their homes, and made a right mess of profits for quite a number of important people. Celestia Enterprises hears that the Commonwealth of Zara is conducting similar experiments, and quickly warns them, and also asks for their help in stopping or shutting down the black hole generator. CLS explains that they would do it themselves, but their current foremost research center for black holes is… inside of a black hole, and unlikely to provide information. The Commonwealth, eager to make good public relations with another well established broadcasting company in Axiom - and also avoid starting their own black hole - takes a cautious approach to the matter, and does manage to determine that there is a way to halt and turn off an errant Black Hole Generator. CWZ and CLS can work together to create a safe method to put a halt on Prosperity’s End… or CWZ can gain a leg up on their broadcast competitors...

    Explorations!
Celestia Enterprises launches a 3 of its best ships staffed with the best veteran crews money could buy. After a few months of searching through ordinary space the find something truly breathtaking. Orbiting a green star lies a saturn sized ecumenopolis bereft of inhabitants. Preliminary reports from the explorers show that while the planet is slowly reverting to its natural state, numerous artifacts from the prior civilizations are still present from simple textiles to advanced “cloaking devices” Enterprise captains believe could hide a ship from visual and sensor detection. Perhaps that’s where any normal exploration would end, but through a combination of luck and due diligence reveals that the former inhabitants of the ecumenopolis were alive and had fled to a system of underground tunnels! Unfortunately it seems the formerly enlightened inhabitants had devolved into militaristic xenophobic molemen. Talks between the enterprising Celestian captains and the muddiest of the molemen reveal that they were forced to flee underground due to an unknown entity changing the color of their star from blue to green, showering the planet in a mysterious radiation. The former inhabitants were well on the way to finishing a machine that could harvest the radiation's power and shield the planet from the harmful effects before they were forced underground but failed to complete the device. (CLS discovers I23 which contains a [Good] resource of Undefined an Open Learning Center, and 3 units of molemen! Tezh probes peer through the cacophony of infinity to find seven worlds in the habitable zone of a white dwarf star. Each of the seven worlds appears to be a singular color on the visible light spectrum. Stranger still all seven realms are connected via a not quite finished rainbow colored bridge. Why the Monochronoms have recently descended into an all out civil war and petty factionalism over a precious substance known as Vigorite is unclear but they all appear intrigued by the alien Consensus probe arriving in their space. (TZH discovers U15 which contains a [Great] resource of Vigorite & an Open Learning Center! TZH has +1 to Conversions for one round! The Region is also home to the partially completed Great Project: Septachrome Research Facilities 2/5 actions the end mechanical bonus to be determined by the player)

In light of the recent conflicts with the Syndrome, Malakid diplomats search through the vacuum of space for new territory to incorporate. What they come across is a planet filled with can only be described as giant sentinet flatworms. Preliminary reports with the flatworm ambassadors show that they have been enlightened stewards of their solar system, leaving the system rich in flora, fauna, and untapped mineral wealth. Preliminary reports suggest the inhabitants had been somehow uplifted by a similar being to Iteus and was as well equally deceased. (NUT discovers U25 which contains a [Good] resource of Undefined a LC occupied by Iteus and no units])

Celestia enterprise ships, while not as successful as their brethren the exploratory ships, have found something quite interesting. A nebula filled to the brim with protostars leaving plenty of room to build outposts and space stations. However, the lack of inhabitable planets does not mean the system is bereft of inhabitants. Sun hounds, wolf like creatures the size of a house whose life cycles rely on protostars are endemic to this nebula and protective of their native “grounds.” (CLS discovers J22 which contains a [Good] resource of Undefined an Open Learning Center, and 3 units of Sun hounds! ])

In the search for resources a probe launched by the great and powerful OwO finds itself near a planet orbiting a black hole. The Silicate inhabitants routinely stretch their crystalline limbs to gather the abnormal amount of dark energy radiating from the black hole. Preliminary scans indicate that the silicates posses a sublight civilization powered almost entirely by the diluted dark energy absorbed and expelled from their bodies. Grymlan scholars theorize that due to their communication via electric waves they may be able to commune with OwO in ways impossible for the average Grymlan. Unfortunately it seems that this communication with the silicates is incredibly difficult leading to a sticky situation involving several shattered silicates. (OwO discovers Q13 which contains a [Good] resource of Diluted Dark Energy Open Learning Center, and 3 units of Silicates! ])

Vilari diplomats, astronomers, and ambassadors travel to an exotic region of space unseen by outsiders in millennia. What at first appears to be a normal solar system is soon found to resemble an atomic crystal lattice on a solar scale. Every planet, star, and asteroid are bound together via massive spirals that allow thoughts, memories and electronic information to travel from one locale to another at faster than light speeds. The massive network of psychic spirals has created a massive gestalt consciousness amongst the varied inhabitants, it seems that even the dead have their mental information stored within the spirals. Closer inspection reveals that even the planets orbits are contorted into strange spirals with the Vilari soon needing to physically change their ships navigation algorithms in order to avoid collisions. (VLS discovers R8 which contains a [Great] resource of Psychic Spirals, Learning Center occupied by the Kamasati pantheon, and 1 unit of Psychics! ])

Formican vessels journeying across the galaxy have found a planet described in local legends, the most beautiful place in the universe. With its three sun rises, rainbow sky and all encompassing oceans there may be an element of truth to it. Formican workers quickly find that the planets oceans are infested with GMO giga shrimp. Diplomatic investigations reveal the locals bread kaiju sized shrimp in order to create the tastiest shellfish in the galaxy. For it a time it seemed to work, until the local economy crashed, fueled in part by a collapse in shrimp prices, suddenly defunding the giga shrimp containment budget. As the shrimp escaped they began attacking cities and sinking ships until the promising sublight civilization slowly diminished into obscurity. The Formicans may be able to repair the containment and refinement systems of the Giga Shrimp intended to not only keep the massive creatures safely contained but to widen their utility beyond mere food. The Formicans speculate completion of this abandoned project could restore balance if they act efficiently. (MFM discovers C15 which contains a [Great] resource of GMO Giga Shrimp, 2 units of Giga Shrimp & an Open Learning Center! MFM has a Claim to C15! The Region is also home to the partially completed Great Project: Giga Shrimp Refinery 3/5 actions the end mechanical bonus to be determined by the player)

Black Sun diplomats investigate a particularly promising system, filled with dozens of habitable planets. Among them they find a thriving civilization of tiny Crawdads. Of course to make the best impression possible with the conclave diplomats, the Crawdad met their alien ambassadors in mech suits to seem more impressive. Due to their diminutive size, the Crawdads have proven to be excellent stewards of their local biospheres, leaving the system with numerous potential resources to exploit. It appears that the crawdads maintain their biosphere due to their devotion to food. A more in depth report reveals that the crawdads were once visited by a so called “hungry God” and now wish to construct the greatest Diner in the Axiom in order to attract its attention once more. (CBS discovers F8 which contains a [Good] resource of Undefined & Learning Center occupied by DDD! CBS has a Claim to F8! The Region is also home to the partially completed Great Project: Greatest Diner in Axiom 1/5 actions the end mechanical bonus to be determined by the player)

Black Sun diplomats have come across a planet covered with erupting volcanoes spewing toxic gasses that coat the planet's surface in a dense layer of clouds. The inhabitants appear to be three-armed ruby humanoids of various sizes. The rubies have an incredibly strict hierarchy based on size. The smaller the ruby, the more influential the ruby, the saying goes. Giants of these ruby men appeared to possess no greater intelligence than that of a dog or cat and were used as tools and weapons of war by their smaller brethren. Preliminary reports indicate that the planet is ruled by six palm sized ruby “gods” who each commanded a mountain sized Ruby Giant that continuously fought in the name of their pint sized masters for dominance over the planet. (CBS discovers H8 which contains a [Minor] resource of Ruby Giants, Open Learning Center, and 3 units of Ruby Giants!)

Infuriated by the lack of progress in searching for a new home, the Red Sun Riders have decided to band together with Dirk Venhal of the Tunnel Cobras and lay claim to a terrestrial home of their own. Boarding three ships armed with small munitions this new crew speeds out of Hearth with gravity latches at full throttle. What the find is the infamously active star Regel 9. Its many solar outbursts provide nourishment to one of the most durable fibers in the galaxy, Rigelian Fibers. Vast plantations of Regelian fibers are farmed and used for a variety of purposes across not only the three inhabitable worlds in this system but in space stations constructed by a sublight civilization to expand their fibrous market. (EHZ discovers M19 which contains a [Good] resource of Regelian Fibers & an Open Learning Center!)

Probes from the Technocratic Meritocracy of Caruflaith Restored have come across a strange world filled with residents obsessed with exotic statues. Naturally the only true way to flex one's social status is to build pointlessly elaborate diamond statues of oneself. Particularly involved members of the community have diamond likenesses of their properties, and even families as a simulacrum of their own lives. Unfortunately this practice is incredibly expensive and many of the new wealth are quite eager to sell their diamond statues once they’ve made a grand showing and the upkeep cost for polishing and cleaning begins to build. The CmC have already begun to buy these statues en mass, even to the point of establishing a Relay in the sector. (TMC discovers E11 which contains a [Good] resource of Diamond StatuesTP 1 owned by CmC, a CmC Relay, & an Open Learning Center!)

Lyraen missionaries discover a system that has recently been overcome by a massive supernova leaving only a neutron star. Whether the star was a luminary is as of yet unknown, but the Lyrean’s have determined the system is filled with hundreds of exposed asteroid belts. One belt in particular is filled with Iridium freshly deposited by the prior supernova.(LYR discovers N8 which contains a [Great] resource of Purified Iridium & an Open Learning Center!)

The heavily armed and armoured Jackstar fleet arrives at a series of habitable gas giants inhabited by a civilization of cybernetically enhanced humanoid ‘angels.’ The angels fly on metallic wings of a special metal known as Oricalcum, known for its extreme lightness, in massive floating cities that drift across the unending clouds. Though the angels believe they have created an enlightened paradise of philosopher kings, they have in fact created a highly militaristic totalitarian dictatorship. Initial standoffs between the angels and Jackstar forces reveal that the angels are attempting to build a force field around their homeworld to protect themselves. Unfortunately they seem to lack the technology necessary to complete this defensive infrastructure. The angels also keep screaming something about righteous fury unto pirates who would come to make them bend the knee… (JFU discovers P30 which contains a [Great] resource of Oricalcum, 3 units of Angels, & an Open Learning Center! The Region is also home to the partially completed Great Project: Planetary Shield 3/5 actions the end mechanical bonus to be determined by the player)

Reconnaissance by the Crimson heart finds a system occupied by 3 planets inhabited by a people known as the paper pushers. The Paper pushers posses a thriving civilization mired in the depths of a crippling bureaucracy. So crippling that even the simple act of planetary travel requires 4 days of boring paperwork. Rumor has it that guardians instructions for a GLD are trapped in a gigantic server room waiting to be processed...in roughly 500 years. (DSD discovers V6 which contains a [Great] resource of Painkillers & an Open Learning Center!)

The Duenem send their greatest ships on an exploration into neighboring space. What they find is a series of gigantic space stations orbiting a red dwarf star. Preliminary reports reveal the space stations are motherships that both industrially construct luxury casinos and casino equipment as well as serve as the largest pleasure domes in the galaxy. Each station is filled with a multitude of races that spend their days gambling and racing space horses. Duenem explorers quickly get lost in the hedonistic pleasure palaces and lose access to most of their funds within a week. (DNM discovers U19 which contains a [Minor] resource of Casinos, 1 unit of Security Detail, & an Open Learning Center!)

Kronin expedition ships embark on an expedition beyond the stars to find resources aplenty. They come across a binary system rich with a specific type of rare crystalline lithium isotope. The local cricket people use these crystals as a means to power their vast harpsichords to broadcast their cricket songs over vast distances. Kronin explorers find the sounds a mixture of entrancing and maddening taking the fresh sampling of Dilithium crystals from the cricket emissaries as soon as possible before leaving. (KRO discovers C27 which contains a [Good] resource of Dilithium & an Open Learning Center!)

The Svaatyr fleet investigates a world inhabited by what can only be described as surly dragon people. The local dragon men eagerly welcome the Svaatyr fleet in the system, attempting to bribe the fleet with all the artisanal mustard they can manufacture. Guided… gently by the neighboring sisters of silence, the dragon men have thrown away their warrior ways for more enlightened hobbies. Across the planet lay vast plantations of Dejan mustard, named after what the locals believe to be the greatest conqueror in history. (SVA discovers L20 which contains a [Great] resource of Dejan Mustard, a Sisterhood of Silence Base, and a Learning Center for The One!)

Droccen diplomats stumble across a mysterious tiny planet covered by bright red jungles. Deep within the planets forested interior lies a race of plants truly alien to the Droccen. They seem to lure unsuspecting prey into their membranous pits by adeptly imitating the calls of potential prey items. It seems as though contact with the Droccen has caused the plants to begin singing beautifully in an attempt to trap the curious explorers. (DCC discovers G21 which contains a [Minor] resource of [Singing Fly Traps] & an Open Learning Center!)

A Droccen probe has arrived in an unexplored sector of neighboring space. Reports from the probe indicate that the inhabited systems in this sector are occupied by a group of cicada esque humanoids. When not in hibernation underground for long periods of time, the cicada’s recycle their shed exoskeletons and refine into some type of crystalized biofuel to power their ever growing army of beetle bots. (DCC discovers G17 which contains a [Good] source of [Crystalized Biofuel], 2 units of beetle bots & an Open Learning Center!)

The greatest ships of The Eternal Assembly of Alysia happen upon a bizarre planet in unknown space. It appears that since all professions have been automated the only thing people do to escape boredom is via frivolous lawsuits. In fact almost every action can and inevitably will be the subject of a frivolous civil suit or a reality television series covering the law suit in salacious detail. Members of the expedition are quickly detained and sued for trespassing on private space, initiating first contact without a permit, and soliciting. (EAA discovers J24 which contains (Great) [Lawyers], 1 unit of Lawyers & an Open Learning Center!)

A Celestia Enterprise expeditionary force has come across a solar system filled with dyson spheres. Each sphere seems to be fixed to a planet where it harvests a wide variety of minerals. Fortunately it seems the planets are all barren leaving little ethical concern for excessive strip mining efforts. (CLS discovers H22 which contains a (Good) [Resource Category: Metal], 2 units of mining drones & an Open Learning Center! CLS can determine the Resource Category: Metal via non-action this round.)

Enterprise expeditionary ships have found a desert world where the most precious material appears to be hydrated water. Gathered in the great fog clouds that straddle the poles, hydrated water apparently has unique properties according to the mysterious sages that met the enterprise employees on first contact. Coincidently accusing a sage of running a pyramid scheme is a capital offense. (CLS discovers H20 which contains a (Good) [H4O2], 2 units of jealous sages & an Open Learning Center!)

Guided by One philosophers, the Rocthurhi send official agents into an otherwise uncharted area of space. What they find is a gothic world plagued by millions of Jabberjaus. The petrified locals tell harrowing tales of being forced into giant citadels to avoid getting devoured by Jabberjaus. Rumor has it that faith in the One supposedly is capable of harming the dreaded beasts. (RTH discovers U11 which contains a [Jabberjaus (Minor)], 3 units of Jabbejaus & a Learning Center occupied by The One!)

The Syndrome’s exploration into region S19 is met with quite a bit of difficulty. While it is eventually fully explored, the diplomatic team reports that the area is heavily under the influence of what the locals call a quantum temporal electrical physicality, but the Syndrome just start calling a Space Storm. Maneuvering through the region takes considerable care and effort, but the Space Storm does seem to have a positive side; it electrifies the region’s metals and adds what initial researchers are calling a fourth dimensional quantity. In particular, “4D Titanium” appears quite sturdy, and can’t be made anywhere else.
(SYN discovers S19 which contains [4D Titanium] [Good], an Open Learning Center, and a Space Storm; using Military Battle Actions on or through the region automatically provokes a Distance Loss roll, even when attacking the region itself. If the shortest route to a Battle is through S19, the Distance Loss occurs as well, as though the units went around the region instead of through it.]

The Etherites fund an expedition into a neighbouring system. This single star system is home to a sentient species who are very secretive about their planet and what they produce. Initially the expedition cannot get past the planets docking bays, but after some negotiation the inhabitants give a quick tour of their capital city. Although they cannot access any production they do find a Learning that follows the beliefs of the Commonwealth of Zara. ETH Expedition into I25 which contains a [Great] [Undefined] resource and a learning center dedicated to the Ideology is Sousk se Veres] ETH has +1 to buyouts in I25 for the next round!

Grymlan Combine prepare their fleet to spread the glory of OwO and set off towards Q15. When they arrive they find two stars in a peculiar orbit and several planets that range from lush jungle planets to barren desert worlds. When their scans indicated a new resource on one of the planets the fleet was spotted by spacecraft that readied weapons on sight. The Grymlan Combine left the system before the resource could be identified. OwO Probe into Q15 which contains a [Minor] resource of [Undefined] and an Open learning Center Q15 is defended by 1 Unit of cloaked fighters

The Harmony sends a small delegation to system B22 and find a star system that is populated by an advanced race of thinkers. On their arrival the discussions were slow going until one of the natives offered the use of a strange helmet, when the helmet was put on the proxy used to communicate several bodily functions were increased. After some negotiations the Harmony left on good terms with the natives. What's more, a relay for the Cosmic Couriers has been located in the area! HMY Inquest into B22 which contains a [Great] resource of [Neural Amplifiers] and an Open Learning Center! TP#1 is owned by the Cosmic Couriers, whom have a base in the region! The system is guarded by 2 Units of enhanced fighters. HMY gets +1 to establishing a claim in B22

The Harmony send out an another fleet to explore the great void. This fleet finds a trinary star system with an abundance of worlds. While no obvious sentient life is found some scans indicate that underground civilizations may exist on some of the planets. When the fleet went to investigate why different species that had no way to communicate all choose to live underground they were hit by a large solar flare that baked the system in radiation. The fleets scanners stopped functioning and the fleet returned home. HMY Inquest into C21 which contains a [Good] Resource of [Undefined] and an open learning center! HMY gets +1 to establishing a claim in C21

The Etherites fund a new expedition into the region between them and the Commonwealth of Zara. When they arrive in the system they find a planet filled with arms dealers and the primary export seem to be weapons that fire plasma. After some negotiations they find a dealer willing to sell them weapons at a slightly discounted rate. The rest of the system seems to have little to offer in terms of profit however a small island planet offers great holiday destinations with untarnished beaches for miles. ETH Expedition into H26 which contains a [Great] resource of [Plasma Disruptors] and an Open Learning Center, The System is guarded by 1 plasma fighter] ETH has +1 to buyouts in H25 for the next round!

The Dawnstar Dominion launch their fleets into nearby space, spread thin as they venture into the unknown. Though each is a capable fighting force on its own, the following year is filled with bad news that seems to get worse and worse with each report. Master Aurelius himself (investigating U7) is there to witness the beginning of these issues, as while patrolling the new region of space, his ships report an unexpected and very strong gravitational force. The pull is jarring, and though initial measures are made to try and use it to their advantage to slingshot further into the area, the fuel that ends up being required to escape it is miscalculated, and most of the fleet loses contact before crashing into whatever the source is. The admiral himself is capable of escaping through skill alone, but the same cannot be said for the rest of his men. The First Flight, investigating W7, encounters some sort of battle shortly after. The only message that gets back to command before the surprise force obliterates them is that ‘Hostiles have been encountered.’ Finally, the Shatter Squadron in W9 is met with the most simple fate - through a mistaken miscalculation on navigation’s part, their GLD destination as a fleet happened to be in the middle of a huge exoplanet. GLD shoots them right into the surface of it, and none return. (DSD fails to recon U7, W7, W9, and loses (3) Units)

    The Duenem

    Region V20

    Round 4
    Actions:
    1. [1][Diplomacy] Finish claim on V22
After much bugchecking and testing, finally the beings of V22 are able to be succesfully upgraded with the Duen algorithm. After half a year of learning and integration, Telesopic Radiance extends a formal offer to integrate into the Duenem as a whole.
[2][Diplmacy] Negotiations with the Leadership of U19.
With their mastery over gambling, U19 is a perfect place for gathering the galaxy together for comradship and jovility, and the locals are likely to appreciate having access to the pockets of the galaxy. Ensuring that such events can be run requires time and coordination. Therefore Telecopic Radiance reaches out to those in charge to give an opportunity to market their wares and services to all sorts of beings. Included in this deal is protection given by the Duenem during proceedings. It certainly helps that U19 is as diverse as it is already.
      [3][Military 5] Eden Protocols
When defending, with a successfully tactical roll, the Duenum take a -1 to the Combat Roll for the battle, but the enemy incurs one additional step of Distance and Size Loss regardless of distance traveled or army size
For the Duenem, preserving sources of life is paramount, even those of an enemy. There is no reason to fight in a bloody last stand causing much suffering. Instead, the Duenem move to engage the enemy in deep space, harrassing and cutting supply lines. Even if a planet might be lost, its peoples will survive.
      [4][Economy] Buyout S19 TP1 for 4D titanium 14
With a growing need for metals to keep Duenem numbers expanding, new sources are needed. Such sources are found in the treacherous S19, with its strange titanium. While it is being invaded by the Syndrome, the Duenem establish far more peaceful (or at least less painful) operations around mines.
      [5][Economy] Buyout Casinos U19 tp1 20
While the initial expedition lost access to funds quickly to prevent exponential debt, the Duenem merchants who follow are far, far more shrewd. It helps being able to calcualte the statistics of all the odds in the room as well as being unable to be stabbed in a dark alleyway.

    Grymlan Combine

    Round 4
    Regions: P14, P16
    High Coordinator Jeejee Scrapseeker

    Diplomacy: 5
    Military: 2
    Economy: 4
    Philosophy: 7
    Intrigue: 4

    Actions
    1. [Economic] Buyout Q13 TP1: [11] - Grymlan ships try to secure a source of fuel that they so desperately need. sadly the efforts of their traders are stymied by communications issues. whether it is on the Grymlans or Silicates end is anybody's guess.
    2. [Economic] Complete CmC Relay 3/3 - There is much fanfare as the new relay comes online. The arrival of the first CmC ship is broadcast over several channels along with some stations having a growing spread on what incident would befall it. A few millionaires pop up overnight as the ship arrives safely in the Cloudysea Region.
    3. [Philosophy] Convert P16 from Open to OwO: [14] - To help solidify their hold over the system. Grymlans install an OwO hub in the main communications terminal of the Lucky space station. While the station is no less a hive of scum and villainy, there are subtle changes across it such as engineering improvements on the infrastructure and whole new ways for gambling tables to be rigged.
    4. [Philosophy] Convert Q13 from Open to OwO: [17] - Intrigued by the appearances of the Silicates and their unique method of communication. The Grymlan Combine reaches out to them by supplying them with an OwO hub, hoping that their benevolent ally might help foster communications between the species.
    5. [Diplomacy] Special 5 CI: "Specailized Public Wantneed Fixrig Strategies" - 2d8 vs resolving unrest. - The Combine was wholy unprepared to be in a position to be governing over species whose cultures were so "alien" to the Grymlan people, such as the Lopurna and Humans of Dregisles. Jeejee instigates new measures that put all resident members of non-Grymlan species under their own pseudo corporations of their own, both insuring their rights while giving them the ability to exercising them within the Combine bureaucracy. Not only does this give the Combine the ability to better address the needs of the species of Dregisles, but lays the framework for any future species that might find themselves in the good fortune of becoming Combine citizens. Much Forwardthink.

Though the GLD performed as it had before, the more exotic particles injected into the drive seemed to cause strange fluctuations and readings on the dials, seeming to speed up and slow down time in erratic ways. In addition, the electrical systems seemed to have surges and brown outs during the flight resulting in only 84% of the systems fuses being blown. Progress!
    • Ool Vulk's autobiography is eagerly received and spends several months at the top of the Grymlans' Fiction Charts.
    • Spoiler: Combine Corporations
      Show

      Corporations of the Combine

The government of the Grymlan Combine consists of several corporations that both coordinate with, and against, each other in deciding how the efforts of the Grymlan people are applied. The Corporations are patrons and financial backers to research, production, and distribution groups typically within a certain field of Grymlan life and their internal structure represents the same general structure of the Combine at large.

As such, Leadership among the Grymlans is based on election, with canidates chosen both on their stance with the indivdual corperation and the needs of the Grymlan people as a whole. Unsurprisingly, corruption is not uncommon among Grymlans leaders. Corruption is expected by the general populace as long as it has reasonable limits. Leaders are expected to have their own personal projects they're working on as long as they meet the needs of the Grymlan people. Given the inquisitive nature of Grymlans as a whole, an the high profile nature of the leadership, Grymlan politicians tend to have Cat and Mouse games between themselves that the populace tends to keep abreast of as a form of entertainment. Should such a leader be deemed insufficent, whether by incompetence, corruption, or changing needs of the people, they can be voted out of their position by the Corporations under them (though the state in which they are voted out might dictate the terms of their severance).

      Some Corporations of the Combine.
      • Foodstuff Solutions: Headed by Abrigal Dirtpaw, Foodstuff Solutions represents many agricultural interests in the Combine. Their farms provide food to feed the Grymlan people as well as providing other materials to the other Corporations. Their labs work to improve existing crops while at the same time they are always on the look out for new potential products to grow and experiment with.
      • Max Zappyzap Projections: Lead by Dhaka Sparkthrower, Max Zappyzap Projections is the closest thing the Grymlans have to a security Corporation. In prior years they were an arms manufacturer who designed energy casters for Grymlan ships to protect them against space debris. They also did research into high energy release weapons that largely went unused (I mean of course you gotta set one off just to make sure it works, we didn't need that asteroid anyways) but did result in research with Arclight Power that provided the primary fission reactors that provide power to the Grymlan's cities and ships. Nowadays they serve as one of the military minded corporations expanding the Grymlan's knowledge of tactics and equipment as they are exposed to new races.
      • Arclight Power: Lead by Dayton Voltzap, Arclight Power serves the Grymlan's ever-growing need for power. They are the formost researchers in high energy fields and often looking for new elements or ways to use them alongside Max Zappyzap Projections.
      • Fluffyshine Grooming: Headed by Celise Dyedye, Fluffyshine Grooming provides cosmetics and grooming supplies to the Grymlans. Proper grooming, especially of their tails, is considered a necessity by the Grymlan populace. In addition Grymlans enjoy expressing themselves in a wide array of colors both in clothing and hair dye. Fluffyshine Grooming is the leader in what is new and chic by melding technology with fashion.

    News and Rumours

"This is not war; this is pest control!" - Lord Admiral Anguradeshib

    • The Garagin Scandal has become a popular subject in media, with at least two operas having been composed and performed on the subject, both of which are initially commercially successful but the first of which is critically poorly received.
    • With the Navy having driven off the Syndrome occupiers, work quickly begins on stabilising the region and securing the antispice resource. Syndrome merchants are permitted to remain at the trading post without significant interference.
    • As news begins to spread about the Droccen coronation and the misunderstanding there, members of the Nisuite High College challenge Ledahadden's leadership, with a vote of no confidence brought. The matter proceeds to a general election among the collegiate electors, with her principal opponent being the respected but elderly academic Zaphacheshud.
    • Zaphacheshud's campaign focusses on Ledahadden's perceived errors of judgement, with the question of her kissing Prince Sukero brought up by the media. Zaphacheshud enlivens the election by referring to her as a "shameless whore" and passing further comment on her private life. This has the effect of turning the election into a debate over sexual morality.
    • For the challenger, it backfires spectacularly: with the electorate comprised almost exclusively of soldiers and students, they clearly aren't keen on being preached at about what goes on in their bedrooms, and Ledahadden retains her position by a landslide.
    • Meanwhile, the Registry reports that the projected launch of Battlegroup Z has been delayed, as funds set aside for the war effort suspended construction. With the first phase of the war having been relatively uneventful, these funds are released, and the ships will fly shortly.
    • Shortly after his return from Droccen, the Philosopher-General dies. Wurmabeshor is appointed to succeed him.
    • It is widely rumoured that Zaphacheshud would have been the favoured candidate for the post of Philosopher-General, had it not been for his disastrous campaign against Ledahadden.
    • The Empress is pregnant again! Early in 217508 she gives birth to a healthy girl.

    Actions Rolls

[Diplomacy] Press Claim on S23 (SUCCESS 1/2-13)
The Syndrome find an interesting use for Antispice derived products amidst the greenshirts of Sector S23. By facilitating addiction amongst the upper classes, they move the sector into a pro-Syndrome viewpoint.

    [Diplomacy] Finish Claim on R22
Now that their pawns control a large portion of the Crabman planet, the Syndrome step up their aid to secure the sector once and for all. Warbeasts and tailored plagues rampage across the territory of the supported crabs' rivals until nothing stands between them and world domination.

    [Diplomacy 2/5] Roaming Star Miniseries
The Syndrome send an invitation to Proxos via the relay a few sectors away. Although the Luminary is, like all aliens, not permitted on the Syndrome homeworld, he is shown many of their most venerable colonies and a spectacular view of the edge of the newly discovered Space Storm.

[Diplomacy 5] Cultural Identity: The Maiden's Code
    2d8 on Secret Actions
See last turn's post for a few excerpts.
Syndrome political culture is a labyrinth of plots, schemes, and backstabbing. From a young age, Syndrome females are taught the intricacies of political maneuvering. The Maiden's Code is one of the premier works in Syndrome philosophy used towards this end.

    [Military] Conquer S19
Using 2 units led by Overlady Yellow-Coat-Stripes
Pods Reaching-Arm and Rampant-Growth escort scientific teams into S19 to set up new research colonies and mining stations amidst the violent storms.

    Capital Planet Web
-Lyreans The Lyraens continue to cling to their more traditional beliefs but the conference has gone well and work is being done to push the value of their place as a pantheon and advance Lyrae herself into a modern ideology.

Addendum: Military propaganda has sharply decreased Prator monitoring of that precept of space has diminished

    - The Vilari Sodality They remain unwilling to make contact, should Lyraens hold an event use this time to figure out status.

Addendum: We are not sure if this race means us harm or is simply being evoked as a weapon by rival pantheon the Lyreans.

    - The Guild-Empire of Nyx Push for contact.

    - The Gelean Republic They remain neutral.

    Dream Children News
Mount Vispim- We watch the Dream children of Moigan from on high. The first large villages are starting to appear across the surface of the planet. We count 102 locations with more than 500 residents. We are proud of our children and we keep our whispers to a minimal for now as they are incapable of understanding yet.

    Addendum:
No major change. They have built a temple of uncut rock where they place nourishment they sorely need for themselves. We inform them they must consume it themselves in our whispers and think of us while they do so. It will forge a connection. We really just didn't want them wasting food. Starvation remains a problem.

Mount Kdoim- We weep for the Xawaq. They have experianced many wars in the past but this is the largest and we hear them dying in our minds. It is painful to know that they are too young and misinterpret the will of our words. When we speak to them in their minds it makes them believe they are even more righteous and that they must be right. Currently 3 nations are embroiled in constant conflict... We know we must not interfere but it hurts us so to hear their minds scream. They did nothing with the whispers coming from our dreamers. Such is the way. We will continue to watch.

The war continues. The war might soon end one race has adapted a new technology proving effective... They fire large arrows via an item they call a ballista. It is carving through their own kind and creating fear.

The Church of Iteus, Round Four
    Pontiff Altea

    Actions
    1. [Economic] Leveraging their new supreme weaponry, the Church's influence over Itean politics grows exponentially. While previously of the three global powers only Ruria truly bent to the Church, the other two realize that they cannot put their own concerns before those of the Church any longer. The dictator of Subia comes to the Pontiff first, and in a historic first the dictator begins to negotiate a deescalation of tensions with Ruria. (Buyout Q23 TP2; Roll: 12; SUCCESS)
    2. [Economic] With Subia and Ruria both under the sway of the Church, the Parliament of Urbia is thrown into frantic debate about what must be done. After a simple descent by the Church's new fleet, the Pontiff is able to invite the Prime Minister to a luncheon meeting with the leaders of the other two powers. Acceptance is effectively the end of the cold war between the three powers. (Buyout Q23 TP3; Roll: 14; SUCCESS)
    3. [Philosophy] With the ongoing chaotic political situation engulfing the Rothuun homeworld, efforts to sway their leadership in favor of Church interests increase as the opportunity for a new ally grows more and more apparent. Due to the chaos and the unwieldy scheme concocted by the leading emissary, only time will tell whether or not the attempt is successful. (Convert Q19 to Church of Iteus; Roll: 10 or 11; Results confusing)
    4. [Philosophy] For the first time in its time as a stellar power, the Church is actively publicizing one of its expeditions into neighboring space, parading it to the people as a thrilling first step among newly cooperating nations. Widely televised and hyped by every outlet not specifically covering it, the sheer volume of media buzz is enough to completely cover up the more unsavory events of the next action. (Probe Q21; Roll: 14; SUCCESS)
    5. [Intrigue] See the below spoiler for a more on-the-ground picture of the fluff {Choice}: Reuse the parasite, gain an int lose a phi, ask the question

Spoiler: Keeping up with the Iteans
    Show
The Pontiff leans back into her seat as Archdeacon Taltha completes his progress report, sighing as her eyes ached against their sockets."We may have to utilize Armando again. A disrespectful thing, the man has gone through much, but for the sake of progress he is our only constant lead in the matter of the Callers."

Taltha coughs uncomfortably as Altea finishes, swishing the mucus around in his mouth thinking of a way to deliver the other news. "The Archdeacon, he... he is lost to us. The parasite seems to have claimed his life."

Silence fills the office for a long time. It is only broken by the slight sound of Altea lifting her drinking glass off the table, idly swirling the pale translucent contents within. "So that's it then. The trail is barren."

"The Deacons did the best they could, Pontiff. After the procedure, you saw the state he was in. He was getting worse by the day, it was only a matter of time..."

"There is no need for excuses, Taltha. It is a marvel that Armando survived as long as he did. I only wish that what he led us to were more useful."

There is a beeping from the door panel, the screen on the Pontiff's desk indicating that Archdeacon Malicha was requesting an audience. "Should I make my leave, Pontiff?"

"Stay. You will hear whatever Malicha has to say regardless, might as well hear it now." She presses the button on her desk to open the door, standing up with glass in hand to look out the window behind her.

As she gulps down the bitter liquid, feeling her brain tingle, an exhausted Malicha begins to speak. "Pontiff, Archdeacon Armando-"

"Is dead, yes, we are aware."

Malicha shakes her head vigorously. "The parasite... it reformed..."

The Pontiff nearly spits out her drink, both her blood and Taltha's running cold. "How is that possible..."

"We have it contained and await your judgement, Pontiff, but... this is... unnatural..."

"I will see this parasite at once."

The arrival of the Pontiff and two Archdeacons in the medical wing of the Cathedral prompts a swift clearing of Archdeacon Armando's examination room, with only one Deacon examiner remaining behind to brief the trio on the situation. In the middle of the room lies Armando's corpse in its hospital bed, hidden beneath a white sheet stained all over by mucus. Of more interest, however, is the glass box on the bedside table containing a pale invertebrate writhing in its slime, very much alive.

Shakily, the Deacon relays the information. "It just came out of his mouth after Taltha left... All off our examinations showed that it was dissolved and dispersed through his system, it must have reformed somehow."

The two Archdeacons can do nothing more than stand there looking confused. Altea, however, leans in closer to the parasite. It seemed larger than the common ones, the length of a hand instead of the length of a finger, and with spindly flagellum at both ends... what did that damnable AI say about it? "This one's physiology was already unique, even before the Guardian tampered with it. The catatonic state was unexpected, it said. It would seem that this is not the end of the unexpected..."

"Destroy it." Malicha's voice is barely a whisper, but the urgency is palpable. "Let us never speak of this again, it hasn't happened before and it won't happen again. The business with Armando was disturbing enough, to let this dark chapter continue..."

"No. We cannot let this opportunity slip away. I may not know why or how this parasite reformed, but it is still our only lead towards whatever path of ascension the Callers seek to bar us from."

"Pontiff, you've seen what happened to Armando. We cannot afford a continuation of this line of research, if word gets out..."

"If." The Pontiff cuts her short. "We have kept the fate of those who indulge in the parasite hidden from the masses for generations upon generations of this Church's hierarchy. We all feel the aches, we all know why we must cover our eyes..." She looks over at the malformed corpse of Armando, an idea suddenly striking. "Examiner, what died first, Armando's body or his brain?"

Though confused, the examiner relays what information she has. "The brain. His... transformations... lasted several hours after brain activity ceased."

Altea's smile is enough to finally make Taltha pipe up. "We followed your instructions, to... to open his mind... We couldn't have known..."

"We were interfering with the process even a day after his rebirth began." Altea's smile is almost ear to ear. "The callers have blessed us with a second chance..."

She slowly caresses the glass box, as Malicha watches in horror. "Pontiff, please, whatever you plan to do, it cannot possibly end well."

"'Unique physiology,' he said." Altea lifts the lid of the box and sets it aside, the flagellum of the parasite reaching upwards towards the influx of air. They fall limp to the ground as the Pontiff's fist slams into it, spewing mucus and slime all over the glass walls. "I would not ask any of you to attempt what I am doing. We have all seen the Bastards, we all know that we will join them in time, but Iteus has granted us something special."

Tenderly, Altea scoops up the remnants of the parasite in one hand, slurping them down as all three subordinates looked on in shock and terror. "Whatever happens, do not interfere. We killed one of Iteus' successors already." After a cough, the tingling starts.

    • The existence of a similar being to Iteus found in U25 by the Ninurtine Empire is a very interesting matter, and would warrant immediate investigation were it not so far away. It is, however, good to see that some others in the Axiom galaxy are also capable of recognizing greatness on their own. Efforts should be made to reach out to the discoverers of this world in the future.
    • The Church becomes less eager to partake in the above once they contact their delegates to the Syndrome and put two and two together.
    • The media frenzy over the rapid deployment of Church ships from the Republic of Celes is treated as comedy viewing by many denizens of the Itean system. Some 'concerned viewers' send in size comparisons and analyses between Church and Republic vessels, also outlining many technical stats in such a way as to invoke as many compensation references as possible.

Building on the foundation established by Prelate Valyn-Relurr's work, the Sodality begins preparations to integrate the Floobers and their Dyson Sphere into the civil framework of the Vilari. Preparations are made for the selection of a Seer from among the Floobers to represent them on the Council, and plans for the Vilari GLD are disseminated among the morphic aliens that their mighty defense fleet might be brought into the post-Guardian paradigm.
    2. [Diplomacy] Perform an Inquest into Region Q-09 13
Flush from recent successes in exploring the space around their borders, more members of the Vilari Diplomatic Corps embark on missions beyond the fringe. Once more they are escorted to the edge of Vilari space by warships, lest the Eradicators repeat their attack, but there is a growing confidence among the Seer Council that even An'Null's death worshippers would hesitate before invoking the wrath of the Sodality's long list of allies.

Following a diplomatic exchange between Speaker Ren-Kulto and First Equal Kask of the Casrule Movement, ships belonging to the Vilari Diplomatic Corps and several orbital reef cities are dispatched to the newly conquered Casrule capital. Focusing their efforts on a star system adjacent to the site of the Casrule's battle with the local defenders, the Vilari begin construction on a vast space station orbiting a blue gas giant. When complete, this station will be equipped to provide relief aid and medical attention to the flood of refugees produced by the Kryptid civil war, and serve as a beacon of peace amid the storms of war.

    Sisterhood of Silence
    Spoiler
    Show

[Intrigue] Move Morning Bloom Monastery & speak with Droccen, Rocthurhi, Sublime People’s Republic, & Tezh Consensus for their aid in relocation (1/5) - Negotiations had been hashed out at the Coronation of Empress Sai between the Sisterhood and the aggressive Rothuun allowing the Sisterhood to evacuate their monastery now within minotaur held space thanks in large part to Drocc arbitration. A fallback position far from the Core had been selected and converted in preparation for retreat and now the Sisters were eager to escape (with as many locals as they could induct to avoid the possibly genocidal aims of the minotaurs) far across Axiom into the bosom of the ideologically aligned Uplift Chorus. Leaving now two gaping holes in the vigil was certainly not ideal but the preservation of life could not be upheld if every Sisterhood monastery was bombed into oblivion by overconfident tyrants. Perhaps if the UC and the Droccen could be empowered with Sisterhood presence and knowledge they could, in time, return when the Evil the Sisterhood contained came spilling out through the iron grip of those who sought to bring to heel what could not be controlled. (Request: RTH, SPR, TZH, & DCC coordinate to complete a Philosophy/Intrigue Great Project (5-actions) to relocate monastery from P18 to T8. Reward: +1 Rep for contributing at least 1 action, additional +1 Favor for 3+ actions taken by a single Stellar Power. Expiration Date: Round 4)

[Intrigue] Investigate the Jester - News of the curious Jester who had showed up at Sai’s Coronation had of course reached the Sisterhood and been cause for much duress. There would doubtful be those who blamed the Sisterhood for this as if their silent vigil indicted them for every mystery in Axiom but the truth was the Sisters were as confused and curious as the stellar powers regarding what master this Jester was serving. Hoping an investigation conducted with full records to be accessible to Axiom’s power players will demonstrate the utility of the Sisterhood and perhaps ingratiate the order with more than those who shared their ideology a number of Sisters are empowered to conduct investigations in all the sectors of space within Sisterhood reach hoping to discover some explanation of the Jester. The primary investigation begins on Droccen as evidence from the Coronation is examined thoroughly for signs that might indicate an origin point for the peculiar fool.

    Cosmic Couriers
    Spoiler
    Show

The Geleans receive a form letter from the Cosmic Couriers offering their sympathies for the lives lost in the First Fleet and the threat of Core incursion but remind the Geleans they are indebted to the Couriers for exploratory services rendered and a payment plan will be implemented if the Geleans do not make restitution by the end of Round 5.

[Economy] Buyout Malak (U23) Entropic Pearls TP 2 - Not long after their discovery by the Ninurtine Empire trade ships carrying Couriers arrive in Malak from the nearby Relay offering trade for the valuable Entropic Pearls of the Empire’s capital. Some within the imperial court question the wisdom in having aided the Couriers in discovering their lost Relay seeing as the Couriers now sought to expand into traditionally Ninurtine dominated markets as reward for their trouble.

[Economy] Establish a Relay in O21 asking for Eyes of the Horizon aid (1/3) - Pleased with the masters of Hearth securing the contentious sector known for their production of lightning wands the Couriers begin to enact their original plan of placing a new Relay in this central sector of Axiom. The nucleus of a new female Courier is brought in from...wherever it was the Couriers got such things and it begins to gestate and mature as materials are brought and fed to the hybridized organo-synthetic lifeform. The masters of Hearth are offered condolences for the loss of their leader though the text comes across something like a form letter. An addendum to these condolences requests the late Speaker Zel-Dara’s successor consider sending aid to the construction efforts in this new Horizon territory. (Reward: EHZ gains 1 Rep and 1 Favor! Request:EHZ spend 2 Economy or Diplomacy actions finishing Relay attraction project in O21. Reward: +1 Favor. Expiration Date: Round 7 or when CmC finish the Relay themselves)

[Diplomacy] Begin writing and pre-production of the Roaming Star miniseries (1/5) - The luminary Proxos, now inhabiting the body of a Lyraen male volunteered for such a prestigious opportunity, has become an intriguing figure within the Courier service. The luminary’s long perspective on life as a star and new takes on the typical mortal form prove highly entertaining to the Couriers. The privilege of escorting Proxos on shipping or diplomatic missions to bear witness to his observations becomes such a highly sought after reward the Couriers realize their only hope is to allow the entire Courier service, and interested Stellar Powers, to view the journeys of the luminary in a more permanent and savable fashion. To this end a film crew is organized from among Courier administrators to accompany Proxos as he joins the numerous CmC missions throughout Axiom. Stellar powers are invited to contribute through the invitation and touring of Proxos through their systems. (Request: Any Stellar Power may spend a Diplomacy or Philosophy action to contribute towards the Roaming Star entertainment great project. Reward: +1 Rep for every 1 to 2 actions contributed. Expiration Date: When project completes)

    An’Null’s Eradicators
    Spoiler
    Show

[Military] A fleet of Eradicators contacts the Gelean Republic - From their galactic north a signal arrives in Gelean space marked with the telltale signature of An’null’s Eradicators. The offer contains scans of a sizable fleet gathering outside known space prepared to come to the aid of the Geleans in their pursuits and resistance of what could only be Sisterhood retribution for the destruction of their monastery. The fleet’s services would be mercenary, temporary in duration, but could allow the Geleans a significant edge within their sector of space, if the Geleans were willing to take on the burden of payment for this amount of fighters. (Request: Offer 4 Units to GLR. Reward: 2 Favors owed to ANE. Expiration Date: Round 5.

[Military] A fleet of Eradicators contacts the Guild Empire of Nyx - A similar offer is made to the Guild Empire of Nyx though on a smaller scale. It would appear the interest in the northern sector of Axiom had been greatly intensified by Gelean activity clearing Sisterhood presence and cracking open possible access to the Core. (Request: Offer 2 Units to GEN. Reward: 1 Favor owed to ANE. Expiration Date: Round 5.

[Military] Raise 1 Unit Aware of the Jackstar Free Union’s vendetta the Eradicators have kept an eye on their activity and claim to have been aware of their infiltration of Journey’s End from the beginning. Commodore Emti, recognizing his veil was nearly pulled away, sends a communique to the Grand Admiral offering her his deepest sympathies for the trouble they encountered in the nearby world of symbiotes and pledges to do what he can to aid the JFU in linking up with their pirate brothers deeper in the void. The Commodore cheekily includes a collection of Eradicator symbology suggesting the JFU may wish to familiarize themselves with the symbols they would soon be painting across the galaxy. While this “blatant disrespect” for the “legitimate governing body of the Free Union” angers many in the JFU the Eradicators do siphon off a large portion of the symbiotic inhabitants who threatened to push the JFU out of their territory, an indisputably helpful action to JFU expansion. 1. [Diplomacy] Claim T8 on ideological grounds TN: 12 Roll: 14 - With the Sisterhood now moving into this sector from their original point of vigil around the Core SPR diplomats journey to the once warring now slowly deescalating sector introduced to the One not a few years prior offering a political path forward. The native inhabitants are promised their own individual liberation through community work to rid themselves of parasites such as landlords and nebulous "owners" of productive means who have kept the two native populations trapped under their thumb through a false war rooted in meaningless distinctions. The One encompassed all and living creatures had obligations to one another as part of that universal arrangement to act with respect towards their fellows and reject exploitation of their fellows, their resources, and their environment. Slowly these ideas begin to take root among the lower classes much to the chagrin of leaders of the old regime who still desperately try to rally support for their continued war but with desertions becoming commonplace and passive resistance among their workers maintaining their hegemonic control through fear becomes more and more impossible and calls for revolution echo through the streets.
    2. [Diplomacy] Claim S9 on ideological grounds 2/2 - Progress has been made in setting up a new administrative body for the refugees among the mining stations within this sector's mineral rich belt. Dubbed the Belter People's Republic a link between each individual station pulls these devastated people together as one erasing whatever lingering idea of a planetary nationhood remained after their nuclear exchange. A number of SPR scientists and engineers have been deployed to the Belters homeworld in hopes of beginning radiation cleansing efforts and restoration of the biosphere with imported hardy flora and fauna from Terron, Thylla, and Yutov. It would likely be some decades before the planet was even close to fully habitable again but for now the effort seems to be enough to convince the remaining inhabitants of their neighbors' goodwill. When an offer of formal protection and recognition as a coalition member to the SPR arrives it is quickly approved and accepted by the BPR committees.
    3. [Economy] Send T6 Crystal Skulls TP 2 to RTH - Methane from the Thylla system had resolved an energy crisis that had been ongoing in Terron for decades so when it becomes known the Rocthurhi were in desperate need for precious minerals to study the SPR was quick to answer. "From each according to their ability, to each according to their need" and so it would be as shipments of the peculiar crystallized skulls are diverted from their destination in Terron to the Thylla system for Rocthurhi study. The Rocthurhi are warned about the skulls dangers namely their ability to animate and cause crystallization when handled improperly. It is hoped that any discoveries made regarding these unusual specimens will be shared with the SPR.
    4. [Economy 5] Upgrade Terron (S7) Matter Rearrangers [Great] to Matter Manipulators [Good] - Eureka! Science was a long steady progression into the future but was marked by sudden events which might be felt for decades, even centuries to come. One such event occurs in the Terron sector where SPR scientists have at last broken the barrier to organic matter conveyance and replication allowing them to disassemble and then consequently reassemble a perfect organic compound matrix from one Matter Rearranger to another. The ability to break down and translate complex atomic patterns digitally across vast distances not merely replicate basic patterns installed on a machine is a milestone landmark in the work first started by Juan Porter over a century ago. The successful transportation was inspired in part by readings taken of the Jester at Sai's Coronation, for which many attribute Vaou's personal attendance as the reason such clear readings were obtained, and tests with animals prove successful enough that the first human conveyance is arranged to be experienced by the new Chairman Tats. The new Chairman begins upon the planetary surface of Union, comming up to the orbiting Presidium Station to request a "beam up" and in a matter of mere moments is dematerialized on the planet's surface and rematerialized onboard the space station above to the jubilant reception of the responsible scientists and engineers. Renamed "Matter Manipulators" MRs systemwide are retrofitted and upgraded to be capable of advanced matter conveyance and precision replication.
    5. [Philosophy 5] Form Unity Guard an Assembly for the One in T8 - As the tensions deescalate between planetary nations and escalate along class lines between exploiter and exploited the SPR elects to send ideologically trained mediators and partisans into the nearby sector in an attempt to guide the coming revolution away from mere destruction in the name of cleansing fire but towards the cultivation of united purpose through clear eyed struggle against internal and external enemies of the masses. The presence of this Assembly alongside the coming Sisterhood base should hopefully help eliminate any lingering resentment between the cold warriors of this sector.

    • Chairman Vaou has resigned! The distinguished Chairman who has led the SPR for over a decade has stepped down in light of his recently announced engagement to Empress Sai of the Droccen Imperium. The Chairman will leave large shoes to fill but the Central Committee does not hesitate to hold an election from among their Party Members which elects the ambitious Patricia Tats to take over the role of guiding hand for the Party. Vaou himself gives a final tour to the Presidium, Terron, and the homeworlds of his UC allies along the galactic spirals before boarding a small shuttle and taking a Courier Relay to Droccen space where he joined his beautiful, powerful, and scandalously younger fiancee. The simple old soldier is set to be crowned Prince-Consort, a rather audacious title for a child born to a working family in a backwater star system.
    • Commander Jerry "Last Straw" Gates of the Archangels retires from the Red Fleet and enters politics receiving the last endorsement given out by the departing Chairman Vaou. The younger gentleman is a sharp young man committed to the ideas of liberty and fraternity and while his slowness to anger serves him well he does find himself clashing with less pragmatic and more idealist members of the Matter Appropriation Committee he has come to helm. Equally as dangerous for the young man's career was the displeasure with which the new Chairman looked on him as a legacy of her predecessor intractably entwined with the Droccen affair. Perhaps in time though the veteran could rise to join her on the Central Committee and some even see him as a future contender for the title of Chairman.
    • A small shipment of two refurbished Matter Manipulators are sent outside Terron Space Coreward though their destination is classified. Given the number of resource starved planets and systems outside the Uplift Chorus the destination could be nearly anywhere. Assurances are made that these resources are being sent to the right people, that is to say people who need them for their very survival.

    (Round 4: AR 2151- AR 2143)
    Urthuun Kzarna Harpooner

    Actions
[Diplomacy] Stabilize P19: The failure of the Ogatvezhiy to integrate into Rothuun society is met with further aggression from the Minotaur occupation. A particularly large cell of the bear-men is executed for rebellion, but it is unclear whether or not they were truly guilty of this crime.
[Military] Build the Nephret Hotel and Casino on Ikhal (1/3): To improve intergalactic relations and to stimulate the economy of Taurina I, permission is given to a select few construction companies to build a beach resort on Ikhal, using the army for cheap labor. Oddly, foreign mercenaries are also hired as architects, an unusual maneuver for the xenophobic minotaurs. Construction begins slowly due to objections from some of the extreme isolationists, who are not interested in seeing tourists enter Rothuun territory.
[B][Military] Invade P22 with two units led by Kzarna Harpooner /B]: The previous failure to secure the region’s owned by the Miracle Men is met with stunning displays of patriotism by the denizens of Taurina I. The Phakhuun Marines, the only unit to have survived the previous attack on the Miracle Men, have their numbers reinforced by the Orissa Patrol’s Ogatvezhiy scouts. It is likely that, if this second attack were to fail, the Rothuun would be forced to pull their troops out of the region.
[Economy 5] Improve the Quantity of Miracle Machines in P22: Make another factory for Miracle Machines (can’t give more detail until I do the write up for the region).
[Economy] Buyout P22.1 for Miracle Machines: Irrelevant extra buyout that I’d switch out if I hadn’t already rolled it.

    1. Word has come out that the Tezh Consensus, and the Uplift Chorus as a whole, have been invited to manage Learning Centers in multiple sectors with the goal of preventing back and forth ideological clashes between neighbors. The Tezh Consensus sees this as a positive step towards sector stability through mediation and calm discourse, they are likely to act on the invitation in the near future.
    2. With the successful growth of the philosophy of One, the Tezh Consensus has set aside permanent resources to convene a council dedicated to the pursuit of knowledge and respectful sharing of that knowledge, this will allow them to dedicate time and energy to Teachings of One without hampering their growth in other areas of galactic participation.
    3. Wanting to set a good precedent and practice what they preach, the Tezh Consensus has opened their first Assembly on their origin world in the physicality. Working with Stozudal communities and civil engineers they break ground on a large campus for higher learning and ongoing education. Upon completion, Assembly resources and courses will be available for all.

In preparation for their future campaign, Harkans have been sent out to better observe and record whatever they could of the creature so the powers that be could better plan against it. The Melfynians have also begun to send out representatives to meet other stellar powers whose expertise may help with their goal to subjugate the creature.

Fortunately, the cessation of violence upon surrender and prompt empathic addressing of the most radically concerned quickly caused things to settle.

    The Eye of the Horizon
Voice of the Council Antich Heaventreader

    Actions:

    [DIPLO]: Stabilize Hearth
With the death of Zel-Dara the entirety of Hearth is shook to its nuclear core. Blades are drawn, old rivalries spill forth, and tension is at its utmost highest. Her former pupil, Antich Heaventreader was present with her till her dying moment, and spoke with her extensively in those cursed days. With her dying wishes and thoughts imparted to him the young Human once present on the battlefield alongside her now stands alone before the Tribal Council and is unanimously elected her successor (After a brief duel between the Green Ones and the Forged Fangs). A funeral is held in her honor and Zel-Dara is launched ceremoniously into the heart of The Source for her to rejoin the Gods Kal and Mys. Many still doubt the young mans political acumen but none doubt he is a burgeoning power in the magics provided by The Source and his noble heart has been on display for all to see. Whether this will lead to stability amongst the people of Hearth has yet to be seen.

    [DIPLO]: Stabilize Dynastinarea
After assisting in the conquest of Dynastinarea, Antich Heaventreader quickly sets in establishing peaceful communiques with the local Wizzetrix Lords and Supreme Sorcerers. The strange beetle like people of the world are foreign in nearly every way to the rustic mystics of Hearth and the culture clash between their more simple life styles and the bombastic self aggrandizing hedrons of the Wizzetrix Lords is difficult at first. Still, the Voice of the Council is headstrong, and adamant that with the power of The Source all things are possible. In bridging their connected understandings of the magics that flow through not only living creatures but also the earth and land itself Antich Heaventreader believes he may pacify the disgruntled Dynast's. The Voice of the Council suggests allowing a Wizzetrix to stand for their world in the Tribal Council of Hearth and though it is fiercely debated eventually the more conservative minded elders relinquish to the reasoning and permit one representive from the newly conquered world to speak on the actions of The Eye of the Horizon as a whole. Vetting a choice has already begun and has lead to some rather fierce if at times strangely gaudy magical attempts at procuring favor.

[DIPLO]: Attract Relay in O21 (2/3)
Wishing to further expand good relations with the Cosmic Couriers, Antich Heaventreader works with a local Wizzetrix, Kilk-Bon the Grand to begin the process of zoning and selecting a spot perfect for a new relay to be established without disturbing the magical leylines and energies that make this fantastical world unique. It is slow going.

[DIPLO]: Extend aid to the Vilari in establishing a Neutral Relief Station in Region M-23
Following a diplomatic message sent from the Vilari Antich Heaventreader cloisters himself in thinking and emerges from his chambers with a message to the Dynast's and Watchers under his purview. "We must act not only with skill, speed, and honor. We must also act with consistency and compassion." This confuses The Eye of the Horizon until the Vilari show up in numbers and with suplies for providing aid and shelter. Several tribes are approached by the Voice of the Council and petitioned to help the strange aquatic people with their quest for peace. Many look at the offer and reject but many more seize the opportunity to go beyond their station and accompany the Vilari and their Voice in aiding the Kryptid's in their civil war. A Master of Flame, Zorlmo Zlick, quite famously announced with sword in hand to the heavily insulated Vilari that his heart burns brighter than any flame, for it still is fueled by the war he endured on Dynastinarea, and his vessel shall reach the struggling world first.

[PHIL] [SPECIAL 5]: Spreading Knowledge on K9 branching off to L10, K11, and L8
Seeking to establish more Masters of Shadow and Flame throughout the world and spread the truth of The Source, Antich Heaventreader begins talks with many of the other human nations. Progress with the Celenians is good though slow but in a surprise twist (After a brief discussion with the Cosmic Couriers) the Gelean Republic opens their arms to the ways of Kal and Mys and many tomes and sacred objects are carefully moved around the Core and to these new friends from afar. Many Masters of Flame find training Psychics to be quite easy, while Masters of Shadow have a harder time teaching the princeps of mental isolation, and a new generation of Sparks is born. Construction of a Bonfire is imminent.

Non-Action: Request that the favor earned from conquering O21 be used to clean GLR’s favor debt.

    UNIFIED PUBLIC TRUST
    Region E7, F6
    Round 4
    Director of Symbiosis Zal M’ell
    Diplomacy: 9
    Military: 1
    Economy: 4
    Philosophy: 3
    Intrigue: 6

    1 [INTRIGUE] Secret

Not all that occurs within UPT is known to those who seek to listen in.

    2 [DIPLOMACY] Inquest D4 Success

A series of new expeditions are launched to seek out new lifeforms and resources to be integrated into the burgeoning psychic web of the Symbraum Pantheon. Expeditionary fleets full of diplomats and surveyors set out to map unknown sectors of the galaxy far from the known populations of stellar powers. UPT had yet to find living brains to fulfill the demands back on the homeworlds and it was hoped they might soon quench their thirst for new thoughts in a way the alien-minded Lycantropes and mindless mummies had not.

    3 [DIPLOMACY] Inquest E3 Success

Two fleets of exploratory vessels depart from Misr Kimt Ra manned in part by mummies enchanted by their new masters to carry out basic functions on the lower decks. Drones of desiccated flesh the silent eyeless gaze of the mummies unnerves some of the crew and they are forced to wear shrouds and instructed to remain out of sight as much as possible by their masters. Those who regularly deal with the instruction and control of the mummies quickly earn the nickname "necromancers" a title which individuals so called alternatively embrace or come to loathe.

    4 [DIPLOMACY] Inquest F4 Failure

The diplomat who had been assigned to act as fleet admiral for the third exploratory division objects rather loudly to the idea of allowing mummies aboard his ships and the necromancers and their thralls are forced to vacate their positions. Unfortunately it seems the haste with which this decision was made left precious little time for replacement crew to be found and this expedition embarks from the Lyca system lacking in important crew positions setting off a cascade of individual shipboard failures that delays the entire fleet for months at a time.

    5 [DIPLOMACY] Inquest D6 Success

A final expedition is authorized by Director Zal M'ell appropriating much of the Symbiosis Commission's allotted resources to fund the expedition in the hopes of making contact with friendly and susceptible lifeforms nearby. The emptying of UPT coffers on this unilateral decision has many within the Divisions upset as consensus driven priorities are sidelined to fast track this personal project of the Symbiosis Director. While the exploratory fleet reports success the limited early broadcasts do not carry with them the magnitude of news Zal needed to abate accusations of tyranny and rumblings begin to filter through the Symbraum psychic web of displeasure over the current administration's dictatorial tendencies which could launch a vote of no-confidence and the replacement of the Symbiosis Director with a Commission Director more willing to abide by Divisional consensus.

    [2/7 UNITS]
    Emergency Defense Force One
    Alien Mummy Drones

    [GENERALS]

    [RUMORS]
    • Outrage, though over what is kept a private affair even to the galaxy's astute watchers of galactic affairs, erupts within the Symbraum psychic web. A valuable life was lost it seems and given the Symbraum outlook on their host species this likely meant one of their own. While not a hive mind in the strictest sense the Kamasati rituals of psionic connection had fostered an already existing sense of unity among individual Symbraum minds promoting this union as they became siblings in a pantheon of gods. Gods who were tasked with the oversight of the Dream Children in protecting them from Demons meaning to them they had a higher responsibility and their lives were incredibly valuable. Dream Children fought and died over petty concerns but the death of a Dreamer, a god? That was a matter which drew attention and often great sadness or anger. It seems related to whatever occurred in galactic sector D8 with snippets of leaked talk of "strong minds" in the sector. Eventually a formal travel prohibition is posted for Symbraum traveling in the area though this move by the director proves controversial contributing to calls for a replacement in leadership of the massively UPT.
    • News of the Melfynians plans to try and subdue the massive destructive force known as the Melfynus Serpent reaches the Symbraum triggering a desire to help, and possibly come into the possession of a massive creature under Symbraum control. Dispatches are sent to the Melfynians offering the aid of UPT in attempting to subdue this massive creature by attempting to bond with it, enlightening it to its destructive effect thus subduing it and allowing it to comprehend the consequences of its size and actions. If the Melfynians did not wish to host a Symbraum in their system, much less one bound with such a massive and dangerous creature, the UPT could additionally offer aid searching for a plant with an oceanic ecosystem capable of supporting the deep sea creature.

[Military 5] Recruit Grand Admiral Xavier Bonaparte (Mil 10) - The construction of the Gilded Garrison had attracted mercenaries from all across the galaxy but it was one mercenary in particular who stood out above the rest. A Gelean man in his late fifties Xavier of Virgo Arcology was something of a rare breed both as a male Gelean and a veteran of the Gelean officer corps. Xavier had retired from the Gelean fleet only a few months before the alien incursion into L10 leaving at the rank of Commander thanks to his 'heroics' in the strike on the SoS monastery to seek his fortune outside the matriarchal domination of Gelean politics and military hierarchy. Xavier had arrived in Nyxian space and bartered his way into a meeting with Lord Domino to offer his services directly to the Lord of Coin. The Nyx, being unfamiliar personally in matters of war, subjected the roaming Gelean to a series of simulated tests which the veteran had easily breezed through with the practiced hand and eye of a battle tested commander. The man was quickly offered a position of significant military prominence within the now growing mercenary force of Nyx choosing to take for himself the rank of "Grand Admiral" and affixing the surname Bonaparte to his name in some homage to an ancient Earth general he had read about during his voyage from Neo-Sol to Nyx. The Lord of Coin was unconcerned with the man's titling or renaming so long as he remained loyal to the hand that held the purse strings and given the generous benefits he was afforded alongside little responsibility outside training and hiring of mercenaries Xavier seemed content to serve in the capacity of senior most military adviser among the war-averse Nyxians.
    2. [Economy] Buyout Neo-Sol (K9) Screeching Crystals TP 2 15 - A number of private communications occur between the Gelean Republic and Guild-Empire of Nyx that resolve with an unknown agreement part of which appears to be Nyxian purchasing of the Screeching Crystals native to the Neo-Sol system. The Nyxians were on the whole not a strongly psionic race although they did appear to meet the criteria for Kamasati consideration as Dream Children rather than Demons and so the psychic repression aura of the crystals posed little concern to the general Nyxian populace. Utilization of the powdered red crystals in headbands and cowl lining among those who seek to do business with the Kamasati's subject races becomes common while the raw powder proves a popular off duty pastime for non-psionic soldiers stationed on the Gilded Garrison. Only a small number of deaths are reported among espers who inhale the powder prompting warning labels to be affixed to containers of "Red Dust" marking it as unsafe for those pregnant, soon to be pregnant, or capable of starting fires with their minds.
    3. [Economy] Buyout J8 Cyreilean Marching Powder TP 1 13 - The drugs continue to flow as simultaneous to the introduction of Red Dust efforts are made to acquire a stake in the presumed stimulant of Cyreilean Marching Powder, which quickly comes to be known as "Blue Dust" in Nyxian space. The potent substance is expected to stimulate organic minds and reaction times improving responsiveness in matters of importance. Blue Dust proves popular among speculative purchasers as well as active duty soldiers wiring them up and allowing them to go without sleep far longer than was recommended by most traditional physicians. The Nyxians by and large avoid Blue Dust outside certain circles but it proves immensely popular among the sorcerers brought up from the newly annexed Kryptid territory.
    4. [Military] Raise 1 Unit of Killbots - With access to the majority of neighboring Killbot production and wishing to support Gelean efforts in the region a significant portion of Nyxian-branded Killbots are commissioned to drain resources from competitive factions who might seek to resist Gelean integration. Architects, programmers, and of course waves and waves of metallic death drones journey to Nyx where they are given residencies and hangar space within the Gilded Garrison. As an identification measure the Killbots have their largest panels gold plated as a signature of their Nyxian ownership.
    5. [Military] Raise 1 Unit of Sorcerers - Lord Domino issues a congratulatory missive to the First Equals of the Casrule Movement for their astounding victory over the sorcerers of galactic sector M23. In this message the Lord of Coin insinuates this victory was in part due to the siphoning off of the more militarily capable sorcerers to serve as mercenaries in Nyx though this claim was rather dubious and retroactive. As the Lord of Coin offers the Casrule the option to come to some sort of arrangement to ensure the continued and uninterrupted importation of sorcerers to Nyx a strike force of these magically gifted individuals is assembled and given quarters aboard the Gilded Garrison. Although a much smaller conventional force in terms of numbers the food service providers stationed at the Garrison complain they consume just as much food as an entire Gelean battalion and are abusing their dining card privileges. These complaints seemingly fall on deaf ears in light of their arcane power now acting in service to the Guild.

    • Grand Admiral Xavier Bonaparte may be something of a drunken lout according to many reports by his subordinates but he does appear to posses a keen tactical mind and enjoys even spending his off time running through ancient, sublight era, and modern sims of historical battles for his amusement. On occasion the Admiral has stretched, some say abused, his authority over the mercenaries stationed in Nyx to have them act out historic battles on a life size scale. Only when a significant number of injuries and three casualties are reported does Lord Domino intervene and only then to disallow the use of livefire in the Admiral's reenactments...a rule that is mostly abided by.

    Actions for Round 4 (Rolls)
    • [Intrigue] Secret Action
Natascha lets the news outlets buzz about black holes, aliens, and philosophical celebrities while she aims to start expanding her markets in peace. What this entails fails to be caught by any major news outlets.
    • [Intrigue] Fabricate a claim on J22 [Fail]
People need new homes. Ships from Chien move out into J22, which is, ironically, home to much bigger, more dangerous dogs. Homes and preliminary colonies are established through the region, often decimated by the great Sun Hounds who inhabit the region. As the Celestian people push them further and further out from the core of their territory, it seems like they'll likely be looking to strike back sooner rather than later - and their sole mercenary army grimaces at the thought.
    • [Philosophy] Declare State Ideology: The Nine Lights!
After the wave of popularity from Korima to push 'The One,' Frvamas of the Nolkir arrives and steals the show. With a more pompous attitude about him and a 'winner takes all' lifestyle, the philosophy of Celestia Enterprises shifts to the Nine Lights and their teachings. Perhaps there was something just too harmonious about the One for it to last in a ruthless market-world, or maybe their attention spans are just shot... But the 'Deific Contract' is altered by an unknown benefactor, apparently one who isn't a fan of adhering by the SoS's limitations on available space.
    • [Military] Help defend CWZ with one unit!
People attack the corporate allies of the Celesians? How dare they! After all that the Commonwealth of Zara has done to help look into the black hole mess, there is widespread agreement that 'we owe them one.' The mercenary armada is sent to aid in the defense, hopefully just in the nick of time like in all the movies...
    • [Military] Raise a unit
While mercenary armies are nice short term defenses, Celestia Corp invests in upgrading its planetary defense forces for long term defense of their worlds. The sheer levels of militarization by discovered regions tend to worry many, and it is only natural for the best corporation in the galaxy to stay on top of the competition. Some report that the new troops have strange lapses where they all speak in sync and forget their personalities, but surely that's nothing...?

Awl Hahl grins at the camera, fur looking far more luscious than before.

“Good evening, friends and fellow Lyraens! Hail Lyrae, may her light never be put out. Right, now, onto the news.”

“Big things are happening, folks! Big things. I know I say that often, but this time, doggone it, i mean it. Tra Gutri and his boys have returned in triumph, Lyrae herself has issued an amended version of the Three Values. And Ool Vulk’s gone and done it again! More on that later.”

“First up, there have been those who have, ahem, protested out occupation of the Reed King’s worlds. To them, we have this to say. Yes, our fleets have rolled into an occupied system and established control. However, this was not only in our interests in securing trade route between us and the Vilari who are, you know, our allies, but also in his interests. He wanted to be left alone and the cordon that House Gutri has established around his systems will do just that. It’s a win win situation, one that he seemed appreciative of once it was explained.”

“Moving on! Lyrae has issued an amendment to the Three Values that have guided our society since time immemorial. Her Brightness has declared that these shall guide us forward as we interact with the galaxy at large and their many diverse faith. The full text can be read at any local information center or place of worship.”

“On a related note, tensions with the Kamasati have significantly eased after their attendance of the conference. Though military tensions are still high and concerns still exist, the worry over god-like psychic warriors deeming us all unworthy of life and wiping out whole planets has been deemed unfounded and ill-conceived.”

He leans back and nods. “On a different note, the Fluffyshine Corporation has opened their first store in the Lyraen system.” He strokes his chin. “I can personally attest to their effectiveness.”

“And now onto everyone’s favorite rapscallion, Ool Vulk. After, ahem, 'years of experience', he has come forth to answer the age-old question of can Lyraens have children with other races. The answer is, according to him, emphatically no. Not without help from, say, the Syndrome. Further details can be found in his completely accurate and unbiased autobiography, 'The Astounding Tales of a Lyraen Spacer'. I am sure that many of you younger crowd will be dying to get your hands on it.”

"Speaking of aliens, it seems that several faiths have left a large impression on the population and have gained small followings. Though all are still loyal to Lyrae, a statement issued by the newly-organized Path of Unity, followers of the One, claims that though Lyrae is divine, she is not all there is. A more accurate cosmological view must take into account the vast spaces outside of Lyrae's light if it is to be any good at all."

"Other sects include the Way of the Sun, an adaptation of the Vilari Way of Tides popular among the lower ranks of the military, the Seekers, a relatively agnostic sect of scientists who admire the Grymlans' views, and the Ascension Club, a group of nobles from Lyrae I that enjoy debating the merits and flaws of the various churches that make up the Church of Rust. It seems the traditional ways are falling away. Lyrae herself stands on her amendment to the Three Values. Ayl Lan tentatively said that, so long as the Lyraens remain ultimately faithful to their creator, there should be no harm in exploring alternatives."

“And that’s the news. Be ever watchful and on guard. May Lyrae bless you and the moon not take you.”

    “Goodnight. And good luck.”

    - Ool Vulk's autobiography has also been released in Cloudysea, seeking to 'set right' some of the misconceptions about him drawn from the Grymlan cartoon in which he is a prominent member.
    - In similar news, the first Lyraen cartoon has entered production, drawing upon an old human trope of an adolescent blessed with magical powers to fight evil. Titled 'Princess Smiter', it premieres in one month's time.
