An easy solution is the joke that Elan is invisible when naked. this joke first appeared in #25, then brought up again in #302, and now Elan is joking about it in #1190 fifteenth panel. There's probably a better answer, but you'll have to ask the question more precisely for that. Feel free to try, since I'm putting this to OQ.

Sorry, Jasdoif, but I really don't feel that qualifies as "wielding" a magic item. I was thinking a wand. I suppose an argument could be made for bc56's response, so...
