I legitimately don't know what's happening anymore, and not in a good way. It's the kind of lost that just leaves me frustrated because it feels like I shouldn't be lost.

I was under the impression that the vines just brought her back to life not crafted her whole cloth.

The phrasing is a bit unclear, but you might be right.
Still, she shouldn't have memories of whoever the body belonged to- nor of Dusty the Corpse Guy I don't think.

"Blank Slate" kinda implies it will be a new person.
So while Snout might learn more about this place I'd expect more of a Voice of the Vines deal with a artificial personality* than the previous owner still being in residence.

*With the vines being either really bad at this whole "person" thing or basing it on impressions from the -clearly deeply disturbed, even before coming to this place -mind of Mr Cultist.

I mean yeah, some of it is most likely a lie/misinterpretation, but the basics are probably true.

That the angry chick was supposed to be Mr Cultist's wife was probably a lie on the vines part or him misinterpreting things, but the part about (re)animating her body?
I see no reason to doubt it.

As for who's sitting at the controls, I suspect it's either the vines or someone connected to them.
Their creator maybe?

Joking about Mr Cultist having a weird taste in women or the vines not getting people is just funnier than dissecting this stuff.

Also, I'm pretty sure at this point I'm putting more thought into this than the author.

I was willing to go on with the actual plot without learning any more details, so the previous and this update kind of felt like Mookie is grabbing ME from behind shouting "where do you think you're going? thought it was over?!"

Also, people really seem do dislike his journal, it's the third person who is getting angry or trying to destroy it in some way.

I see them as parts where the skin is cut, broken and/or got loose and is peeling off and dirt has infiltrated beneath it.

That diary kind of appeared out of nowhere. I assume it was inside the bundle, but it got off-screen when the woman appeared. This makes me believe that the woman is actually the polymorphed bundle, which first grew arms and then transformed fully, and she is destroying the diary because she just pulled it out of an uncomfortable place in her body.

Perhaps she's just very proud of her strength. We're just not privy to her dialogue: "Hey, dudes, see that weird plant thingy over there? I'm gonna pull it right out! BOOYAH! Awesome, right? Now who wants to bet I can chuck this mongreldude into the river? Too late! I already did it! Now I'm gonna tear this book in half!"

Snout DID drag her on the dirty floor for at least a few minutes without realizing she can just stand up on her own.
Other than that, I don't think Snout did anything in this story so far.

He messed with whatever process was going on down there, he saw her naked, he was there so he's probably part of whatever weird thing was going on, he's ignoring her...

There's a few options what it could be.

Though I have given up on understanding what's going on.
I actually thought this arc was over when Snout wrote into his diary.

Dudes a chick magnet apparently. As for why lashing out at him, it could also be the trauma of the situation. She is just lashing out because she went through something horrible and he is there. Was just watching a clip of an anime Overlord where this happens. A genuinely good man named sebas saves this young woman who had been rather brutally treated for a very long time. She wakes up clean and healed, with food to eat in a nice warm bed and when he explains she is safe she starts to break down and saying things like why didnt anyone save me sooner, pounding on his chest as he holds her, and stuff like that. Its not a "rational" response, but lashing out is normal under such horrifying circumstances.

I agree with you 99%. The problem is that if she's just lashing out, then why did she specifically go for the diary? She specifically pulled it out of Snout's sack and ignored all his other items (as few of them as he had). If she snapped his stick and started tearing everything apart, then trying to rip the diary would work with this analysis, but she exclusively wanted to destroy that, implying some degree of intention and forethought. Now, I'm assuming this is just another Mookie mistake rather than a condemnation of your hypothesis. I do actually think you're right here; I'm just pointing out this issue in the writing.

It would make a lot more sense if it happened in reverse order: Emotional response right after her fight while Snout was still there, and then when she come over it, help snout with the corpse until it does the Jedi death thing.
Collapsing into the cave, tracking and chasing Snout only to have that response, takes the edge a bit.

Also, as a scene by itself it's fine, but it would help if it happened to a character we gave a crap about.

It may be connected to the plant mans journal. Its entirely likely that she got sucked in by reading the journal or some such thing so now she reacts to that with irrational hate. Its not that its snouts journal, its not that it may have anything in it she couldnt bear to be known, its just that it IS a journal and its a triggering sight for her. In the 21st update we can see she is screaming SOMETHING at him in two different panels. Until she wakes up and can be talked to (written to) rationally, we wont know exactly what she was freaking out over. She may think he was a part of the whole situation as he was there when she woke back up. She may want to know what happened to the dude who turned to dust, its hard to say, it could be a lot of things. We also dont see how the journal is even exposed. She basically picks him up, hurls him into the water, then has his journal in her hands so maybe it was the first thing she could grab? Again, this is mookie, its all unclear and hard to guess.
