The country of England, it's language English, and that language's Anglophone speakers are all referred to as such because of the Anglo-Saxons.

...So why isn't it the country of Sexland, full of Sexish-speaking Saxophones?

Sachsland is already in Germany. All three of it.

As I understand it, the 'anglo' part was (at least at a certain time) used to distinguish the anglo-saxons from the 'regular', continental saxons. It is apparently not clear who these 'Angli' actually were before moving to the British Isles. The German Wikipedia puts it quite lovely: "The exakt sequence of the anglo-saxon ethnogenesis is, like for all germanic gentes of the migration period, subject to lively scientific debate." (That means a lot of name calling and thrown books.)

    Wrong. Obviously

There are dozens, at least one per county, and sometimes per town or city. A random selection:

Geordie, Cornish (sometimes with a version of a foreign (Welsh) language thrown in), Zummerzet, Bristol, Brummie, Wacker, Manc, Manx, Yorks, and thousands more.

The question was not "how many accents are there?" The question was, "how do Americans view UK accents?" (which I condensed to just England, admittedly) So I quite literally cannot be wrong.

Not all Americans are that way, Bethesda have used Geordie voice actors quite heavily (Meridia in Oblivion for example).

I have a character for a story I have been working on whose super powers are being invincible and being able to phase through matter. He kills off a lot of the world's leaders before a teleporter sticks him on the moon forever.
