Re: OOTS #492 - The Discussion Thread
Really good :)
I loved the All Steaks go to Heaven and the guilt about sex for Lawful patrons jokes
EDIT: Wouldn't "the debate hall where you're always right" be more of a place you would find in Hell? Like that Twilight Zone episode where the gambler dies and ends up in a casino where he always wins and it turns out to be HellLast edited by Pentegarn; 2007-10-11 at 05:17 PM.

Re: OOTS #492 - The Discussion Thread
I like the attractions. Yet somehow, they seem inconsistient. The debate hall and the tavern seem much different than the "Just difficult enough to be challenging" monsters, given that they have no challenge.
"I could have all the one-night stands that I want, but I'd have to have them at my mom's house?" Classic

The horror! If that's mount Celestia, why would anyone want to be LG? There's not even a theme park! OR at least not one with a significant risk of a heart attack.

Re: OOTS #492 - The Discussion Thread
Heh I enjoyed the first panel with two golden gate standing in the middle of nowhere. I'd like to see a bonus panel where Eugene tries to walk around the gates and then gets zapped.
So Roy's going to see his mother? Character Development FTW!
We've already seen how his father has affected him.

I guess we're not done with Roy yet. But this is going to be heaven, so nothing bad can happen, right? Well, I guess we'll find out.

Nice one. It'll be interesting to actually see Roy's mom as a character (not counting that brief scene in SoD).

Re: OOTS #492 - The Discussion Thread
Roy's in heaven, yay! Great comic! Especially since I wasn't even expecting one today. I was so worried some plot complication would come up before he entered...now here's hoping he at least gets to enjoy it a little while.
Oh, there might be, remember we just saw a very small number of the highlights that were apparently meant to fit Roy's personal tastes, I'm sure the place must be much bigger than that.
edit: Also, can't wait to see how Roy adjusts to living with mom again...Last edited by Solara; 2007-10-11 at 05:23 PM.
Google query for the Giant's posts, for those of us who think they're way more interesting than yet another speculation thread but don't have time to read every thread on the forum to find one he's posting in.

Re: OOTS #492 - The Discussion Thread
I will admit, this was the first comic in a long time to make me laugh out loud *which for me is a rarity, even for truly funny things.* I'm excited that we get to see more of Roy's mom. It'll be interesting to see if she fully supports his Fighter lifestyle.

Re: OOTS #492 - The Discussion Thread
Lawful Good paradise seems rather contradictory, with one of the traditional sins being 100% allowed... yet guilt at the same time? This is rather... odd.
And btw, in most religions (on earth) sex isn't a sin, it's the idea of having it out of wedlock that is.

I'm sure that there is also a debate hall where the debates are just difficult enough to be challenging, as well as one where you always lose, etc.

Re: OOTS #492 - The Discussion Thread
Well, it's true most of the themes were probably interests of Roy. One night stands, since he's single. Debates, because he just loves arguing with people. And dungeon monsters, seeing as he's a fighter and all. Yet none of them are presumably satisfying.
Come to think of it, a Chaotic character would love sneaking around with a one-night-stand in his mother's house... Emphasis on the sneaking around and getting away with something naughty.

Re: OOTS #492 - The Discussion Thread
If this paradise sounds throroughly unappealing, remember, this is Lawful Good heaven. I bet Lawful people enjoy feeling smarter than other people (the Hall) but also enjoy feeling put to the test (the Dungeon). As for the One Night Stands, I think they feel it's fair. You get the fun, but you also get the guilt. So your karma evens out. Which I think is a concept that's appealing to LG people. (Thank Goodness I'm Chaotic!)
Also, it's just a few of the attractions going on. There may be more!

Re: OOTS #492 - The Discussion Thread
Paradise means pleasure and happiness, therefore you just have to be able to have sex and beside, what make you think sex is really a sins in OOTS world? Or in D&D in general? Hell just look at the number of half-humans half-everything else there is, I say people in D&D are pretty open-minded.
But seriously, I dont know why people whine so much about this paradise. There must be something for everyone but since its Roy then the girls, the monsters and feeling smart come first...I would love that paradise too actually.Last edited by Querzis; 2007-10-11 at 06:11 PM.
