Re: RC's Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time OOC
And I did actually win diamond league and get the "Legendary" acheivement!
None of the remaining Duolingo acheivements are anything I need to compete against other people for so I can take that all much more at my own pace from now. I can actually learn new lessons now rather than endlessly repeating past lessons because they have a better XP to time spent ratio!

Re: RC's Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time OOC
It's actually not first-person, but third. Very similar to the original BG games, but with rotatable full-3d graphics, a la Divinity: Original Sin (which Larian, the BG3 devs, also made).
As for character selection: it's party-based, so you recruit a group of up to 4. Your main character actually HAS to be a custom character right now, though they've stated that you'll be able to select one of the pre-mades as your protagonist, once the game's out of early access.
You're also right that the currently recruitable pre-mades are a bit grimdark. The devs said it was a deliberate choice for the first early access build to include only the darker characters, as those are apparently more difficult to get feedback on.
If you're on the fence about it, I'd strongly suggest waiting for the final build to be released, or at least until the early access version is more polished. It's great fun right now, but it's frankly got a long ways to go before its a worthy successor. If anyone can do it, though, it's Larian.

I do have a torch, so I'll carry that (and I don't need to carry weapons). Can I see with it what is out there?

Re: RC's Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time OOC
I was about to day, "no, the lights originate beyond the 40ft range of shadowy illumination cast by a torch", but then I remembered there's a full moon so it basically counts as shadowy illumination everywhere.
I thought the reveal would be spookier left to the next post. Hang on and I'll do some editing.

Re: RC's Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time OOC
A Halloween-themed fight! Awesome! Let's post really slowly so that it's still happening at Halloween!
Or, I suppose, a Halloween-themed terror-stricken running-away.
Thanks for the feedback on Baldur's Gate, TIC.
Anything notable about the terrain here? One particular point of interest is trees, which I'd rather not light on fire with my FirePoofs (TM). Though I guess that would give us more light, wouldn't it?

Re: RC's Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time OOC
As I've already done a post, I'll roll here.
initiative: (1d20+7)[16]
as it looks like undead: knowledge(religion) to know what they are (mostly their speed and any immunities/weaknesses): (1d20+5)[23]
EDIT: no 1s this time. I roll those when I attack. Although here I think we better make a sound strategical and tactical retreat (in other words, run like hell).
Between the entangle and my wasp running interference, I hope we can get away.Last edited by farothel; 2020-10-12 at 03:03 AM.

Re: RC's Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time OOC
Right, sorry for the delay. Last week was crazy overtime at work. I kept meaning to put an update together, but chase scenes are harder to plan than straight fights! I'll try and get an update up later today.

No worries. We all have crazy overtime at times. I work in the department of infectious disease and vaccines of a large pharmaceutical company, so I know all about crazy overtime.

Re: RC's Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time OOC
I think Zifa's move rate should be 30' -- he's in Light armor and isn't badly encumbered. I think the 20' on the sheet was an error based on kokiri being Small.
Spoiler: Dumping text to go IC if Zifa's move is indeed lowKoli, moving quicker than Nippi does, keeps turning around to bark at the pursuing stalchilds. So Nippi faces no struggle in getting her to wait as Zifa runs up behind. "Zifa! Get on Koli! D'you know how to ride? Just grab the saddlehorn, this part here!"

Re: RC's Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time OOC
Question: if we have to guess, which of the two would be faster, the short way through the shrubbery or the long way along the road?
And how fast are our pursuers moving? Do they gain or do they fall behind?Clacks-Overhead: GNU Terry Pratchett

Well, it looks like cutting across would be shorter as the crow flies ... but will end up taking longer when RCG ambushes is with strangleweed plants or more zombieskels!

Re: RC's Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time OOC
No, something really stupid. Next door's building work intercepted my phone line from the telegraph pole a while back and it's been rubbing ever since, so today BT moved the anchor point to the apex of my roof.
I looked up.Last edited by RCgothic; 2020-11-10 at 05:51 PM.

Re: RC's Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time OOC
Take good care of yourself, RC. Don't try to come back before you're ready just on our account. Neck injuries are pernicious.
