Candle of Invocation converted/nerfed into a UA-style incantation
The main thing here is that all gate functionality is gone--hence the name change. Please PEACH. One thing I'm wondering is if 7th level is too high.
Candle of Transcendence
Conjuration
Effective Level: 7th
Skill Check: Knowledge (religion) DC 24, 7 successes
Failure: Attack
Components: V, S, M, F, XP
Casting Time: 12 hours
Range: Touch
Area: 30-ft. emanation
Duration: 4 hours
Saving Throw: Will negates (harmless)
Spell Resistance: Yes (harmless)
You imbue a regular candle with the essence of one of the nine alignments. Simply burning the candle generates a favorable aura for the caster, and any characters within the area after the incantation is complete, if the candle's alignment matches that of the caster. Characters of the same alignment as the burning candle add a +2 morale bonus on attack rolls, saving throws, and skill checks until the candle burns out if they pass within 30 feet of the flame after the incantation is complete.
Likewise, if passing within 30 feet of the flame and for as long as the flame burns, an adept, cleric, favored soul, or paladin whose alignment matches the candle's operates for the rest of the day as if two levels higher for purposes of determining spells per day, but he must prepare his spells just prior to or while the flame burns. He can even cast spells normally unavailable to him, as if he were of that higher level, but this effect functions only so long as the candle continues to burn.
Failure
The candle rapidly melts but doesn't ignite and, one round after the skill check is failed, is replaced with a single hostile extraplanar creature of CR 7 + 1 per point by which the skill check failed, and of the opposite alignment that the caster intended to infuse the candle with.
Material Component
3,000 gp worth of silver dust and 1,000 gp worth of special oils, which are spread around the candle's sides while the incantation is chanted.
Focus
A regular 1/2-pound candle engraved with symbols of religious or philosophical significance. The candle burns with a heatless flame, surrounded by an unearthly halo, for 4 hours upon successful completion of the incantation. It is possible to extinguish the candle simply by blowing it out, so users often place it in a lantern to protect it from drafts and the like. Doing this doesn't interfere with its magical properties. Once used for this incantation, the candle melts only if burned normally; subsequent uses of this incantation do not consume the candle's physical mass.
XP Component
100 XP.Last edited by OttoVonBigby; 2019-08-31 at 01:23 PM. Reason: adjusted the Failure fluff

Re: Candle of Invocation converted/nerfed into a UA-style incantation
Why would a candle make a saving throw?
P.E.A.C.H. Please Evaluate And Critique Honestly. Being nicer and kinder doesn't hurt either. Note I generally only critique 3.5 and Pathfinder material.
Please, please, please when using non-core material, cite to the books. There are too many books to wade through to find the one with the feat, special ability or spell you use.

I'm not great at assessing the balance of invocations but this oozes flavour so I quite like it.
