With a flick of his wrist Chaucer dispatches the fleeing Stirge with a small stone... ahead of them lies the bloodstained hallway, had it not been for the stirge Chaucer had dispatched into the floor with impunity setting off the trap, it likely would have been his or Desira's step that would have triggered it.

Nice job flourishing! Stirges are dead, but we're still counting rounds and time and I'll be posting your times. Right now you're at 42 second.

Chaucer has one action left, then Desira's.

Because Chaucer set off the trap, they know there is at least one trap in that hallway. Given the whole thing is bloodstained, it would stand to reason the hallway could have more traps. It makes them aware of the trap.

You won't get a moment to Catch your Breath until you've passed the Hallway of Arrows and completed Wave 1. Sorry, I mispoke last night.

Chaucer spends a few seconds taking in all he can around him but doesn't see anything else moving in the shadowy light or hear anything in the darkness... that is until Desira sets herself to her work...

As Desira steps forward she smashes the ground with her maul, some combination of her weight and the blow sets off the trap just in front ofher. When the whipsnap of bowstrings fill the corridor and a bolt snaps forward she wishes she had a longer reach... but her cautious approach pays off and she manages to avoid the pointy bite of the bolt.

Desira makes her way down the hall, able to nimbly avoid each trap that she tiggers, with Chaucer following her. After a few moments, they have reached the other end of the hallway and pause to catch their breath.

"All right, what's next?" Desira asks, turning to look at the obstacle course before them.

    Round 8 and 9

Congrats, both Desira and Chauncer now get to beenfit from Catching their Breath recovering their ranks in Heroism in HP and their ranks in Power in PP. Desira recovers 1HP; Chauncer recovers 1HP and 5PP.

    Wave 2: Round 1

As both Desira and Chauncer step out from beyond the Hall of Arrows a great dark expanse opens before them. Almost sensing their presence a number of torches all along the perimeter begin shedding light, enough to push the entire room into sight, even for Chauncer's poor old eyes.

The room appears to be a foggy pit, an easy 10' drop filled with platforms and stairs that reach their level. On the far ends of the rooms are ledges, easily twice as high as the platforms, overlooking the room.

But what is most concerning are the four shambling remnants of people, stirring and staring hungrily towards the living creatures that dared enter their domain. Two are on the outskirts and have bows held in their skeletal hands with the remnants of leather armor on their bodies and short blades in sheaths on their hips. Two others are standing on the pillars in the center of the rooms, warriors by their equipment, each wearing the remnants of heavier studded leather with a shield. The first carries a broadsword, the other a mace.

Desira screams in pain when the wounds begin to pile up, and Chaucer turns to see what is happening. His eyes widen, and he tries to help.

Chauncer lets loose with more power than he had ever attempted to manifest before blasting one of the warriors away from Desira before blasting a skeleton archer off the ledge and finally picking up a stone and cracking it off the warrior engaging Desira, even around its shield...

Meanwhile Desira took the opening that presented itself landing a solid blow against the skeleton warrior's shield before following it up with tremendous strike obliterating the skeleton...

Chaucer's eyes widen when Desira goes down. He knows he should probably help the girl in some way, but his power is nearly gone and certainly he, without much armor nor nimbleness in his step, couldn't stand a chance. He turns and flees back the way he came.

Desira would have continued the fight if Chaucer went down, but the old man isn't going to. He's noping out.
I guess that would be the end of the first arena run - if the archers don't shoot him in the back as he goes!

Level 5: Welcome to the Arena Desira Lothbrok and Chauncer Penstemon!

Why you're here, no one knows. All you know is that to survive, you must overcome all that stands in your way, pushing on to find a way out. And your first obstacle is but a mere wall. A dank, slick, fifteen foot wall looming in front of you in the dark...

    Spoiler
    Show

Ok, here we go! Here is the Arena Map

The Wall is a DC15(T) and Slippery(Disadvantage) This part of the is considered to to be drenched in Shadowy Light(30' normal vision, 60' low-light vision, 90' darkvision). Shadowy Light causes Disadvantage on Perception(Spot) Checks.

We'll start going round by round, either character can act first. When initiative is required, I'll roll it and we'll go from there. Once a Wave is complete, characters will benefit from Catching their Breath and I'll rearrange positions and trigger Wave 2. And so on and So forth.

This Arena will be pretty brutal for 1st level characters and they will not survive, neither will the level 5 variants. I believe it is possible for the level 10 variants to survive it and I predict even odds for the level 20s to make it through all the waves.

Also, your character is assume to have left their Rucksack behind and have their Satchel, Belt Pouches, Misc Items, and any Equipped Armor/Shields/Weapons.

"You ever experience deja vu, old man?" Desira asks, looking at the wall before her with a sense of anticipation. Whatever lies ahead, she's ready to face it.

"Oh, of course," Chaucer responds. "Plenty of time in a life as old as mine..."

"Yeah, yeah. Just wanted a yes or no, didn't ask for your life's story,"
Desira huffs, going over to the wall. She puts her hands on its surface, starting to climb, before looking back at the feeble character behind her. "...shall I carry you?" she asks, but the old elf shakes his head.

"I will manage just fine on my own," he promises, focusing his power. He takes a surprisingly fast running start at the obstacle and leaps spryly off the ground despite his age, leaving Desira to scramble up after him.
