Default The Jungle Ruins of Madaro-Shanti [OOC]

    Welcome All

I'm looking forward to a fun game. I will have the player table up in due course, but in the meantime feel free to introduce yourselves, your character, or any other information you'd like to share.

I'll also get the initial IC post up, most likely tomorrow. For reference, here is the link to the IC thread: Jungle Ruins of Madero-Shanti IC

    Player Character Class
Triskavanski Jack Candle Human Occultist 6
    Koral Human Sorcerer 6
    ChaoticHarmony Gearforged Ranger 6
    Yas392 Janna Changling Witch 6
    Foryn Gilnith Human Ranger 6

Here is a nice, if nor particularly necessary in the context of the adventure, regional map.

For some reason that I can't figure out, if I try to get this to display in the post by inserting the link into "Insert Image" button nothing posts.

Sorry saw the post then went to go get my character sheet to post.. I don't think you had the table at the time, and got lost somewhere on the corner of memes and interesting but ultimately useless facts that are quite possibly dubious.

Jack Candle here. You want treasure, I'm your man!

Atrux does not lead. But Atrux stands in front to prevent smaller ones be eaten. (I will choose green)

I would welcome that you elect the Int 8/Cha 7 character to lead. It will be great fun. Atrux is supposed to be behaving much on instincts (wis) rather than logic (int) or social grace/sympathy. (cha).

Yet, as a headsup, Janna's sheet is linked to your own TBD sheet, Merc.

Oops! Thanks for pointing that out.

Edit: It seems to go to Janna's sheet for me ??

Thought we have another girl in the party but it looks like my witch is getting a reverse harem. She must be the luckiest girl in the world.

Anyways, Janna, the BFC specialist is here and accounted for. Using bold black as her default speech color.

And just to note, the players are spread out around the world, quite literally. We are in at least +12 GMT, +3 GMT, and -6 GMT time zones, so that will definitely play into the posting pace for the game. I'll endeavor to push the pace as much as possible if for the simple fact that a slow game can quickly become a dead game, but just an FYI to keep in mind.

As far as speech colors, do them if you want, but it doesn't matter particularly to me. I'm also perfectly fine with just bog standard plain black text so long as you put quotation marks around it.

    Yep, incredibly lucky.

I just realized that most of us either have negative or no charisma mod. Interested to see how this play out since we can only rely on our unreliable sorcerer to get us through social situations but that will unlikely happen. Looks like we have to do this, the HARD WAY!

Unreliable? Who are you calling unreliable?
Are doubting the integrity of a scion of the Guanahato lineage? Are you questioning the worthiness of the official representative of the Grand Guanahato (inc.) Cartel to the southern lands?
My dear man, mind your words and manners!

    Unreliable, pffft.

Could have fooled me. From the way I read it, I felt like the response belonged to the IC thread. That's why I redirected you to my witch.

Just to clarify locations since we have nothign but a mental map of the Chologadi at the moment, Aedon and Atrux are being invited/lead to the Council Hall, and it appears Elias is trailing after them.

Ignasio is in the town square outside the inn he took lodging at, and Jack Candle is nearby watching a spice trader try to sell his wares to him (Ignasio). I believe Janna is headed there--and can be assumed to see this haggle as well.

So perhaps Atrux is actually speaking to Aedon, rather than Ignasio?

I am confused. How did Ignasio jump from talking to the innkeeper to haggling with a spice seller? Did those events occur at different times? Just to get a clear picture before my next post.

Yes, one followed from the next. Koral indicated that Ignasio was going outside to the town square, but I interjected an encounter with the innkeeper on the way out first. So that being complete (though I need to follow up on his examination of the idols), he moved outside to the square.

Hope that clears it up, but if not just ask.

    Default Posting standards?

    Hi all,
Sorry if I am overstepping here:
Seeing that we come from different places I would suggest that we agree on basic posting standards that will make it easier to follow up on all the posts and keep the flow of the game.

I do not know if one system is better than the other so I can only recommend on the one I have been using on my games until now:

Character name on the post subject (Re: The Jungle Ruins of Madaro-Shanti [IC - Ignasio] ) Personally I find it hard to link player name to character, at least for now.

Post is always in past tense. (Ignasio made his way through the marketplace showing little to no interest in the wares on display)

Anything that is said out loud in quotation marks ("So, my good man" said Ignasio "About those idols".)

Thoughts in tilde (~hmmm, I wonder what he'll do next~ he thought, not showing his fear)

    Shouts in bold ("duh")

Any need for inline OOC comments in brackets ( Ignasio observed the man [OCC: sense motive role 11+2] )

Any requirements of others to reference your post with brackets tagging ( "So, what do you think?" he finally asked [TAG: Janna] )

And of course: never assume other character's actions or words in your own post, but that is basic courtesy.

    Any thoughts? [TAG:all]

I'm pretty laid back on the format people want to post in so long as everyone is able to follow along. Like I said, you want to post speach in color? Fine by me. You want to use quotation marks? No problem.

I think the confusion might have been Spore simply mislabling who his character was talking to, which can easily happen early in games as everyone deals with learning not only each other's characters, but a sudden influx of NPCs typically, too.

I habitually post in the present tense but since half the group (including, significantly, the DM) seems to narrate in past tense I'm open to shifting for consistency's sake. The tag system is interesting... I'd have to see it used to fully grasp how it works.

You may do as you want. But I assume people remember the six characters we play as.
Post is always in past tense. (Ignasio made his way through the marketplace showing little to no interest in the wares on display)
    Reasonable.
Anything that is said out loud in quotation marks ("So, my good man" said Ignasio "About those idols".)

Thoughts in tilde (~hmmm, I wonder what he'll do next~ he thought, not showing his fear)

I don't agree. My words are in bold, my thoughts in italic, shouts are underlined.

Any need for inline OOC comments in brackets ( Ignasio observed the man [OCC: sense motive role 11+2] )

Any requirements of others to reference your post with brackets tagging ( "So, what do you think?" he finally asked [TAG: Janna] )

I heavily disagree. I try to RP a game with organic speech and "stage directions". I like to sequester OOC and roll away in a spoiler at the end. Not every other sentence needs to be interrupted by a @tag or a roll or some OOC post that rips my immersion right out again.

Do as you wish, we have the OOC to refer to. People often remembered who was who in my games.

Tense use, I prefer present. But I am flexible to switch to past if the majority is going that direction.

Thoughts in tilde (~hmmm, I wonder what he'll do next~ he thought, not showing his fear)

    Shouts in bold ("duh")
Speech format, I use quotations around dialogues, italics for thoughts, capital for shouts/roar/any similar intonation.

    Any thoughts? [TAG:all]
The OOC comments I usually have them spoilered. I only post them open IC if players are fine with them. It is very rare that I use or see tags being used elsewhere other than recruitment posts or OOC. Outside of them, I haven't seen them used IC whatsoever. I agree with Spore's post about the frequent use of tags and OOC in the open. It tends to ruin the IC experience.

@Mercurion 2 Does Janna know the path to the council house? I have implied in my post that she followed like Elias but kept a further distance and turn back to her original path. If the implication was vague, I apologize.
