Re: Funny Magical Items
Widget of Thingamajigary
A small case of polished wood with a dial set into one side. Turning the dial winds a spring inside the box, which will gradually unwind itself over the next 10d6 minutes.
Until the spring is discharged, all technology is indistinguishable from magic. For any creature within 60' of the widget to determine the name or purpose of a device containing any moving part requires success on a Knowledge (Arcana) check, even if the creature was previously familiar with the device. To attempt to operate any device with a moving part requires a Use Magic Device check. If a discharge of magical energy would result from a failed check, it occurs only if the device actually is magical.
Sliding a recessed switch on one side of the widget releases the spring and ends the widget's effect early.

Ring of Curious Looks (cursed)
The Ring of Curious Looks looks like a Ring of Disguise. You can cast disguise self at will.
Curse. This ring is Cursed, a fact that is revealed only when an Identify spell is cast on the ring or you attune to it. Attuning to the ring curses you until you are targeted by the Remove Curse spell or similar magic; removing the ring fails to end the curse. While cursed, people are suspicious of you. You have disadvantage on performance, deception, persuasion, and insight checks.

Sword of KAmber
This +2 Keen Longsword comes with a subtle curse - when a secret command word is spoken within 200 ft. of the wielder, the wielder must make a will save or be subject to an Confusion effect that lasts for one day. On a successful save, the wielder is subject to the confusion effect for one round - long enough to forget to add a prompt to the end of their post - and is then immune to the effect for the rest of the day.

When a command word is spoken, the thread will dance. Use the speaker's Perform: Dance skill to determine how well the thread dances. It doesn't really do anything interesting besides that.

Pants of Feather Falling
When the subject wearing these pants falls more than 10ft it causes a mass of feathers appearing in a 10ft sphere around the subject, causing it to land softly. These feathers will disappear naturally after 1 hour and take 1 minute to remove. Anyone who comes into contact with these feathers will feel as if they're lighter than they are.

Re: Funny Magical Items
Magic Item, Very Rare
A holy symbol of fluffyness is a representation of a fluffy god or pantheon (Such as Malar or Okku). The symbol itself is made of some kind of fluff from an animal that is considered sacred to the worshippers of the god or pantheon it represents, and is usually situated on an amulet or on a shield (However, it can be found on other items.) If they worship the god or pantheon the symbol represents, or are sufficiently fluffy (as determined by the DM), a cleric or paladin can use a holy symbol of fluffyness as a spellcasting focus. To use the symbol in this way, the caster must wield it, wear it, or bear it on a shield. When the holy symbol of fluffiness meets the requirements to be used as a spellcasting focus, whenever its possessor, their clothes, their items, or a spell being cast by them is being described to someone, it must be described as "fluffy" first and foremost.
Whenever a holy symbol of fluffyness is used as a spellcasting focus, roll a d20, as well as an amount of d4's equal to the level of the spell being cast. The Holy Symbol Of Fluffiness adds that many words of flavor text to the description of the target of the spell. This flavor text generally contains information that, while truthful, only gives vague, surface-level information about the target that generally isn't helpful. Whenever someone describes or mentions the target (Such as when targeting it)(not just the characters, this includes the players, even the DM), they must start by reading the flavor text added by this effect word-for-word before stating anything else about the target (excluding the name, which can be stated first, but must be followed by the flavor text).
The text may only be removed if the target no longer matches the description provided by the flavor text or by a wish spell or similar effect.

Magic Item: Figurine Of Blunderous Power
The Figurine of Blunderous Power is a small steel sculpture (3 inches tall) of a china shop, full of easily breakable ceramics. Upon making contact with a creature with an intelligence score of 5 or higher, for 2d6 hours the creature’s strength score is immediately raised to 20 as a grotesque transformation takes place, blowing up the creature’s muscles like a balloon. If already 20 or higher, the strength score increases by 2. For the duration, the creature’s dexterity score is lowered to 5 as they become incredibly clumsy. Whenever moving within 5 feet of an object, the creature must make a DC 10 dexterity check. On a success, nothing happens. On a fail, the creature somehow breaks the object, however seems logical or by the DM’s choice.

Re: Funny Magical Items
The Remarkably Witty Tree is a children's book, approximately 30 pages in length. The story contained within describes the journey of a tree who, blessed with remarkable wit, outsmarts and defeats a group of loggers that had been attempting to clear-cut the tree's forest. The book is enchanted with all manner of compelling illusions, and some special editions will read themselves out loud. Children exposed to the book have been observed to develop considerably more snark than their peers.

Re: Funny Magical Items
Aboleth blood, properly preserved, allows a drinker to temporarily transform, gaining translucent skin and the ability to breathe underwater for 1d4 hours. Additionally, the drinker gains momentary access to the Aboleth's ancestral memories; while transformed, the drinker gains a +4 racial bonus to all Intelligence-based checks. However, while tapping into this power, they must make a DC 20 Charisma save or else take on the personality of the Aboleth for the remainder of the transformation. (Said Aboleth is aware of its demise and is usually annoyed by the fact, as well as its being trapped in a thrall-like body with no psionic abilities.)

Re: Funny Magical Items
(This spell can be cast whenever you can cast an instant.)
A spellcaster with Scribe Scroll can inscribe a spell on this card, expending all of the usual time and costs to create a scroll. The card can then be used exactly like a scroll of the inscribed spell, with one exception: if the spell can be quickened with the Quicken Spell metamagic feat, the act of casting it from the flash card is quickened accordingly. This generally makes it a swift action. After use, the flash card is then destroyed, just like a regular scroll.

Re: Funny Magical Items
A Duck of Many Things is a hand-sized sculpture/caricature of a waterfowl, yellow in color and composed of a rubbery substance. At the start of each day, the Duck will be dressed in a simple costume, chosen at random from a table (printed elsewhere). Squeezing the duck causes it to let out a high-pitched squeak, as well as trigger the associated effect. A Duck of Many Things can only have its effect triggered once per day.

Re: Funny Magical Items
A hammer that conjures nails just as it it about to strike a suitably penetrable surface. It counts as a masterwork tool for skill checks centering on hammering nails, most typically carpentry. As an improvised weapon, it deals damage as though it were two size categories larger and the damage is both bludgeoning and piercing.

Re: Funny Magical Items
Carpet of the Trick Room
If anyone looks under this carpet while it is in a room with a size of no more than 20' on any one side, they find a trapdoor leading down into an extradimensional space that matches the proportions of the room they left. If they enter this space and close the trapdoor behind them, an opening appears immediately beneath anyone or any object whose weight is supported by the floor of this space. Anyone with such an opening beneath them must make a reflex save (DC15) or fall back through a new gap in the ceiling of the room the carpet was in when the trapdoor opened. Reopening the trapdoor by which they entered the space immediately closes any holes left on the floor of this space.

The deckchair of many things
The first person to sit down in this comfortable looking yet nigh-indestructible deckchair each day will have a random spell cast with them as the target. Let's say... a spell from this deck I made earlier: https://forums.giantitp.com/showthre...f-spells-(3-5). Charm spells will mean you are charmed by the first person you see, Suggestion will operate with regards to the first sentence anyone speaks to you that might suggest a course of action, Summoning spells will summon critters that just want to climb all over you and be your friend, but will also try to protect you from harm if you are threatened, and so forth as per DM fiat. Let's hope you don't draw the King of Spades.

You may use this tool to gain advantage on all athletics checks related to jumping, but it requires both of your hands to be free. Every day, the first use of the pogo stick has a chance to make you ascend to godhood if you roll two natural 20's.

Re: Funny Magical Items
Fez of the infuriated familiar
Any character with a familiar or animal companion that touches this cursed item must make a DC 15 will save or immediately put this on the head of said class feature. It's always a perfect fit and cannot be removed by the poor beast themselves. The familiar / animal companion finds itself so annoyed by the whole experience that it refuses to obey any commands, and this effect only terminates after its owner removes the fez, but they must make a will save to do so since their animal buddy just looks so cuuute.

Figurine of wondrous power: silver fox
When commanded, this statuette changes into a creature with the same properties as a wolf except that it is sized small, is endowed with an Intelligence of 13 and a Charisma of 13, can communicate in Common and Sylvan, and adds an additional +4 to its Spot, Move Silently, Bluff and Hide checks. It has 60-foot darkvision, and it can see invisibility. A silver fox can be used once per week for up to 6 hours. It obeys only its owner, and even then, only if they have at least Charisma 13 (one fox only respects another).
