Default Mutants and Masterminds Villain Game

    Prologue
It has to Start Somewhere, It has to Start Sometime....

    Brigadoon.

The headquarters of the Valor Guad for the past several years, you've all seen the high tech artificial island somewhere before. Maybe it was just on the news or in one of the many press confrences held by the Guard. Still, some of you may have been among the unfortunate villains who attempted to take this mobile fortress for yourself, only to be thwarted by the "Worlds Greatest Heroes".

This time though.....the Valor Guard aren't here to stop you. Your "anonymous benefactor" had seen to that. You aren't sure what they did to the Valor Guard or why they tipped you off, but when presented with this window of opportunity, none of you really care. The ivory tower of your mortal enemies is defenseless, save for a small force of MDI agents and the pathetic horde of second rate sidekicks known as the Young Guard. Maybe they'd be able to hold back one of you, but not all of you....

"Go Go go!!!!" you hear alarms go off and the scrambling of MDI agents, all in uniform navy blue jumpsuits and armed with MDI standard issue laser rifles. They are taking up perimiter around the central tower of Brigadoon. Thanks to their alliance with the Valor Guard, the MDI basically acted as a small private army for Brigadoon.

It's a noble effort for them. They still won't last long.....

    KRAKATHOOM!

With a lash of lighting and deafening peal of thunder, Godhead appears in the vaunted floating city. Looking around, he sneers. Look at this monument to maintaining man's power over the earth. Had the Valor Guard chosen a temple, to honor the gods that made their world, had they shown some humility, perhaps he would have spared them. Perhaps he would have intervened on behalf of these deluded fools who need not die for their ignorance. But no, this place was nothing but a show of vanity, hubris. Godhead steps out of his smoking footprints and begins to walk forward. He was feeling sporting, he would give these fools a chance to fight back, rather than tear down the city around them. He gives a thought to his allies, but they are capable and motivated, they can handle themselves, especially against rabble like this.

    Black Orchid

The yawning, cloudless blue sky was warm and inviting. The Brigadoon had enjoyed many of these days as the headquarters of the worlds greatest metahuman team, Valor Guard, due to the protection offered by its powerful inhabitants. The mornings were pleasant, the afternoons a joy and the evenings a beautiful sunset kissing the gentle sapphire ocean, and it was doubtful any of the Brigadoons occupants could image their blissful, remote existence ever being threatened. But, as the saying went, all good things must come to an end. And as black flak clouds blossomed in the sky and alarms blared to send armed men to their posts to meet an incoming danger, a creeping dread settled over the artificial island at the realisation that their good things had had their six.

Usually, Black Orchid took care to gather intelligence on her opponents, form a plan of attack, ensure an exit strategy and then subject her plan to as little improvisation as circumstances would allow. But today, on this most joyous of days where elation was high and the mood was celebratory, Black Orchid had decided to throw caution into the wind and thoroughly enjoy herself. Though she could not approve of the Valor Guard's A-Team sudden disappearance, she was thankful for the blessing of Wave Master's moronic "insight" being removed from any future that she had to tread. Instead she chose the option of soaring through the blue skies above the ocean, the four mechanical tentacles of her suit waving behind her like some sort of ghastly cape woven from tendrils. A black-and-purple figure barely just a dot in the sky one moment, Black Orchid grinned inside her sealed suit as she ducked and weaved between the flak clouds and forest of laser fire to land in a spectacular shockwave upon the highest point of the central tower that rose above the rest of the island. Turning about and staring down at the rest of the arms of the island that branched off from its centre like a massive, grey metallic starfish floating upon the waves, Black Orchid spotted the hundreds of uniformed agents struggling to get to their posts in time before her team-mates slammed into the base, while those who did sprayed torrents of blaster bolts at those had yet to make landfall.

Some of that fire lanced in her direction. Orchids body shrugged to one side as one of the purple energy blasts impacted against her shoulder, failing to penetrate the protective casing but nonetheless reminding the mad scientist of how vulnerable the soft tissue was beneath.

Grinning, Orchid turned to face down at the roof of the tower upon which she had landed.

"EVA, deploy all drones and keep a tight formation around me."

Upon her command, the shoulders of Orchids suit started to ripple and peel as blobs of liquid metal were seemingly pulled off of her body, each sphere of reflective silver compacting in upon itself to form a black disc. Agile and sinister, each drone appeared as a dark buzzsaw given life and silent flight, as simultaneously across each drone the flickering of green lights indicated that all systems were functioning.

Holding both of her hands together and pointing down at the roof, Orchid uttered "open sesame..." and drew her hands apart; as she did so, a newly formed drone hovered over to close proximity and emitted a shifting, purple square over the area. Initially a bright, solid colour, the square abruptly became transparent and revealed the vast command section housed within the massive tower, and the dozens of its surprised occupants.

Orchids grin widened. Her four tentacles snaked forward through the air, each connecting to the inside roof and pulling her through the matter-phased gateway like a human funnel-web spider, a black swarm of drones following her inside...

The great super villains always got the cool entrance, where they appear into the sky, slowly hovering above their foes in a cool pose full of mystical, pseudo-religious symbolism, smiling silently in a mysteriously ominous way that screamed "I'm in control" while the irrelevant frightened masses ran around like headless chickens, trying to do something about it. In the best films, this would even be accompanied by a kick-ass sound track performed by a well-drilled harmonic orchestra, the dark tune slowly rising to imply the destruction soon to be unleashed, underlining how dangerous the main bad guy was.

Seeing his new boss doing just that gave Igor goosebumps as he finished swimming and hauled himself on the docks. Or maybe it was the chilly seawater dripping all along his body. He had wanted to avoid that, knowing that amphibious landing were always too wet to be cool. He had requested a chopper, even argued they could mount loudspeakers on it to play something appropriate. The boss and the other eggheads had said "no", of course. Something about the element of surprise and all. Well... screw them : if he couldn't have the chopper and land dry, he would at least get his own kick-ass entrance !!

With water sloshing from its boots at each step, Igor, alias "the Determinator", pulled down an equally drenched backpack, from which he pulled out an old-school boombox which, by all accounts, if you listened to the nerds in the boss payroll, shouldn't be working anymore, what with salty water and electronics not mixing well. Sitting the thing on his shoulder, he pushed "play" and hummed to itself to the sound of the music walking toward the local goons that were rushing to intercept him. The boss had said "Go get them !!", then "something something meet in the tower", along with a warning about something he was absolutely not to do under any circumstance. He had, however, forgotten that last part.

As he walked, the sloshing sound stopped, as Igor's unconsciously had willed himself to be dry.

Halfman drops out of the clouds above the fortress like a stone. The armored cyborg waits for the perfect moment before metal wings and turbines snap out of his back, lifting him above the crowds of soldiers below. "HAHAHAHAA! YOU CANNOT HOPE TO DEFEND THIS AGAINST ME, HALFMAN! FLEE, OR PERISH!". Compartments open on the hulking figure's armor, dispensing a withering salvo of seeker micromissiles into the defending MDI agents. He flies towards the central tower. There must be vaults in this place, where research, both original and confiscated must be stored. He lands next to the door with a heavy thump and retracts his flight gear.

Meridian's arrival to the artificial island of the Brigadoon was positively subtle by comparison to her peers. She didn't erupt from the sky like a comet, or bombard the land with missile fire. There were no bold proclamations, nor showy clashes. And while she admired the idea of bringing a music player to blast out an anthem, she'd passed on even that. Her arrival was as simple and straightforward as it could be, simply hoisting one arm out of the water to grab the landing platform, and then lifting herself up. No mess, no fuss. It wasn't often a 7 and a half foot tall amazonian could come striding out of the sea and not draw all eyes to herself, but doing so as battle erupted all around her might be one of those rare chances. She stood up, a small grin on her face, and placed her hands into the denim pockets of her jeans. The water that dripped off her body began to steam as she radiated heat, but that was about it as far as shows of force. Sam didn't think she needed any more than that.

After all, the sun was sitting at the top of the sky.

From the moment she'd set foot on the Brigadoon, as far as Sam was concerned, this entire fortress belonged to her. Nobody here could stop her, they couldn't even slow her down. There wasn't any need to join in the fighting. Looking about, she took in the scene. The other criminals, the ones she'd allowed to accompany her, were giving it a good show, as were the amassed forces of the MDI, who threw themselves into the grey with a courage that could only be commended. Wherever she turned, Sam could see the men and woman of the Valor Forces home guard throwing doing their duty, holding the line.

It reminded her a bit of watching ants. As the thought crossed her mind, she looked at the skyline of her new metal atoll, and noted it did have something of an ant-hill shape to it, with the outer banks rising up in a curve towards the central point. If that were the case, than her crew would be something akin to mice, she supposed. But not her. No, Meridian was simply herself. Unchallenged, unmatched, and unstoppable.

A laser blast from one of the MDI rifles struck Meridian across the cheek, the beam deflecting wide as it made contact, leaving no other marking on her features. Had she been hit anywhere else, she likely wouldn't have noticed (Indeed, this was actually the 9th shot to strike her as she'd been taking in the view), but the flash of light on her face drew her attention, bringing her gaze back down from the skyline to the legion of ants.

Letting out a sigh, she took one step forward, keeping her hands in her pockets as she did, moving at a slow, deliberate pace. There was no rush, the outcome was inevitable. More directed shots broke against her body, a light breeze at best. She kept walking forward. Someone got the idea to up the firepower, tossing a grenade at her feet. Meridian stepped on it, feeling the metal pop as the explosive charges detonated. She kept walking forward. That small smile on her face stayed exactly as it had been, as she loomed larger and larger over the battalion that made the mistake of trying to engage her.

One of the soldiers rifles went dead. Then another, and another after that. The tech that powered the firearms wasn't something that Meridian really knew much about, but she figured that it had either run out of charge, or been overheated from sustained fire. End result was the same. She was now in arms reach of the soldiers, but let them finish. After all, they were giving it their all to put her down, and she didn't want to belittle such heroic fortitude by simply swatting them aside. So she waited till the last of the rifles finally was spent, and a stillness fell onto the scene before her.

"If y'all are finished" She began, sweeping her view left and right to confirm that indeed the attack was over, before addressing who appeared to be the commanding officer "You there, I got something to say. Mind lending me your com-unit". It was phrased as a request, but the implications was clear. She could take it, and he couldn't stop her. After a moments hesitation, the soldier unclipped a communicator pack and headset, passing them to Meridian. She gave a nod "Thank you kindly".

The headset was to small for her head, so she used one hand to hold the microphone to her lips, the other working the buttons to turn on the broadcast function. All channels on, she spoke to all the inhabitants of the island. "Listen up. This is Meridian speaking. I'm taking this island now, and I'm prepared to accept an unconditional surrender. This is the only warning I'm giving."

There is a few seconds of silence as the agents raise their weapons, one brief moment where you all wondered if maybe, just maybe, they would drop their weapons and surrender.

Heroes. They're never really that smart.

The air is alight with the green bolts of energy firing from the standard issue MDI rifles. Brigadoon begins to smell of singed steel and ozone as lasers whip past your heads. These agents are brave. Stupid, but brave....

    Black Orchid
    CRASH!!!

Your tentacles smash through the large circular table, catching you before you hit the ground. You find yourself in the belly of the beast: the Valor Guard command room. You are standing in what's left of the Valor Guard's table, surrounded by three costumed heroes: Members of the Young Guard. You recognized the smug, blonde teen in the gold and purple costume stylized like Roman Armor: that punk Kid Adonis. Along with him was a girl with a large white winter coat lined with several belts of tech gadgets and a girl with blue skin and a pink outfit out of a bad sci fi movie. "You think this is gonna scare us? We've been trained by the best to be the best!" Kid Adonis shouts, taking a fighting stance as the other heroes back a way slowly, the alien girl's hands glowing with a violet light. Kid Adonis may have been a fool, but he always knew how to rally others to his cause.....

    Meridian

The MDI agents blocking your way listen to your demands in silence. Silently, they all give each other a look. Then, one at a time, they drop their weapons and make a run for the coast of Brigadoon, most likely towards any emergency escape method the artificial island had. Your path is clear of agents, and the street in front of you leads towards the large white tower in the center of the island: the center of the Valor Guard's operations in Brigadoon and in the world. And as of right now, literally nothing is in Meridian's way.

    Halfman

Your barrage of rockets detonates in the ranks of MDI agents, and several agents vanish in the resulting destruction. A handful of agents are still futilely trying to blast you with lasers, but the brunt of their forces were taken out by your original attack.

"You think this is gonna scare us? We've been trained by the best to be the best!"

Adonis wasn't that much younger than Orchid herself, but his voice carried with it a charming naivety that had not yet slammed headlong into a cold reality of life: there was always someone better.

Orchids response was simple, confident and passed through the vocabulator of her suit that gave her usually smooth tone a more sinister, mechanical edge.

"Then you will die braver than most."

The small octapod of black drones descended from the former hole in the roof. Operating in unison, the dark plates moved out from each other and begun to emit a nimbus of multi-colored lights; the nebulae coalescing together to materialise another, then another to create a veritable platoon of Black Orchid warsuits to misdirect any onlooker from spotting the real Black Orchid.

On cue, the tentacles sprouting from Orchids back swirled about like four angry, hissing serpents, the claws on the end of each liquid-metal arm opening to reveal rows of serrated teeth lining the pincers and hidden needle-like stabbing implements. As swift as striking snakes the arms shot out and around, spearing at Adonis, his two-cohorts and anyone else unfortunate enough to be in range.

But striking wasn't enough; as the hissing coils snapped about, slashed and stabbed, they latched onto anything they connected with - the hardened steel of the snapping claws seemingly "melting" over the faces, necks and shoulders of their target to ensnare them in an inescapable smothering of liquid metal.

Move: None, Black Orchid is just standing up where she is.

Move Action: Drones 1 through 8 are descending to within 50 feet or so of Orchid.

Standard Action: Drones 1-4 are performing "Soft-light Constructs", an Area Illusion 9; they are creating a dozen or so mirror images of Black Orchid around her; DC 19 Will to resist.

Standard Action: Black Orchid is using "Arm Swirl" from her "Liquid-metal Arms" Dynamic Array. It's a 30 foot radius sphere, so everyone within 30 feet takes a hit, DC 27 Toughness to resist.
Fast Grab: Unless any of them can dodge or not get hit by an area effect, somehow, Fast Grab allows an immediate grab check against whoever is hit.
Grab Check: I'm not sure how precisely specific you are being, or whether you are being more "cinematic" in your interpretation: but 4 extra limbs gives a bonus of +4 to Grab Checks that is not restricted by PL, so anyone hit by "Arm Swirl" needs to make a Strength check against DC 26 (10 base + 12 str + 4 extra limbs).

Black Orchid's Hydra Suit also has Improved Grab and Improved Hold; so she is not vulnerable while grappling and can perform other action while her arms hold something, and if she wins this rounds Grab check her target is at -5 difficulty next round to try and break it.

    Determinator

Igor kept walking toward the center of the island, not even bothering to attack the puny soldiers firing at him. Sure, it could be fun to bash a few skulls and to play bowling with bodies but honestly ? The fear and confusion on the faces of the MDI tools whenever they did hit him was worth a lot more than their screams of agony. Most of the laser beams just passed away from him, sometimes with the light actually BENDING a few millimeters away from his skin. What little did hit him made him feel ticklish. He did feel the occasional warmth when somebody managed to line several shots at the exact same spot but then it was a fleeting feeling at best. Nothing worth stopping to punish the offender yet.

Also, so far, nobody had shot the boombox, which was considerate of them.
He would wait until the end of the soundtrack to really get going.

From experience, "Determinator" knew that most people eventually stopped wasting ammunition when they believed him to be immune to whatever they were throwing at him. Mentally, he was counting how long it would take for these guys to believe that. The smart ones would then run away. The brave ones would try something else. To add some dramatic effect, Igor grinned madly as he kept walking. And then laughed.

Your lightning strikes the three agents, first one, then forking to hit the other two in your path. Two of them are launched into the air like rag dolls, slamming through the windows of the various structures on Brigadoon. The third, clearly injured, begins to limp away in a panic, a feeble attempt to escape the same fate as his comrades. The way is clear for you to the center of Brigadoon.

    Black Orchid

The tentacles whip around like snakes, quickly snatching the now flying alien girl out of the air, the liquid metal quickly wrapping around her body. The second tentacle strikes harder against the girl in the winter coat, quickly pulling her across the room and pinning her against the wall.

The only one to escape was Kid Adonis himself. Taking to air, he expertly maneuvers around the third tentacle, dodging and weaving until he sees an opening and slamming a fist into the 'claw', sending it flying back.

"My turn," Adonis said with his trademark grin, flying forward like a missile aiming to hit you square in the jaw. You know the punch of the young paragon would most likely break your helmet, but what he has in strength Adonis lacks in speed. One of your free tentacles is able to push you out of the way, causing Adonis's punch to smash through the floor instead.

    Spoiler
    Show
Kid Adonis made his saves, so he's the only one who currently isn't grappled

    Halfman

Your missles soar through the air again, sending MDI agents flying and running for cover. Your scan of the central tower reveals the interior: A living area, power generators, and even what you recognize as a trophy room, though you cannot make out the specific prizes hidden inside at this distance.

You also spot two figures descending from the tower. One is gliding around the exterior using a wingsuit: most likely Victory's sidekick, simply known as the Prodigy. The second figure is inside the tower, scrambling down an elevator shaft and running on all fours for the building's exit too. You recognize this as the sidekick of the Huntress: the bestial Foxhound. The two appear to be joining another group of MDI agents at the base of the tower, forming another line of defense against the oncoming villains.

    Igor

A brave (or foolish) MDI Agent rushes you, attempting to punch you in the face. You easily catch the punch as if it were a rubber ball, then proceed to strike the agent. The agent rockets across Brigadoon, flying up and up into the sky and across the ocean. The other agents drop their weapons and run.

Information read-outs materialised across Orchid's HUD as two of the three teenage Valor Guards were snapped up in her liquid-metal tentacles; the solvent steel pooling over both heroines and ensnaring them completely and utterly in an inescapable death-grip. Orchid found this very satisfying.

Kid Adonis, however, was yet to learn his true place. The young paragon shot towards the black-and-steel tarantula supervillainess, his blow missing as she darted to the side and instead his momentum crashed a hole into the floor.

Inside Orchid's hub, several commands were sent out as externally the supervillainess gestured to her right hand towards Kid Adonis - while in the background two of her tentacles were constricting and smothering over his two companions.

"Nice try, kid," Orchid muses to the paragon, "but taking a swing at me is going to cost you."

As she says that, one of her spare tentacles whips around, its claw-head morphing and reshaping into a reflective spike that speared right towards the Winter Coat-wearing captive held by one of Orchids other tentacles like a striking scorpion tail...

Move Action: None, Orchid isn't moving.

Free Action: Orchid is activating Defensive Attack, taking -5 to hit to get +5 to Dodge and Parry, giving her a score of 27 for each.

Standard Action: Orchid is Attacking Winter Coat girl, who is currently defenseless, immobile and impaired, meaning she's got a Dodge/Parry of 10. Orchid is forgoing attack as a routine action and rolling to attack vs Parry 10, because if she hits it's automatically a crit. She is using "Rapid Strikes", which includes the multiattack.
    Attack: (1D20+7)[24]
Winter Girl has to take a DC 37 toughness save, due to the hit gaining 3 degrees of success which increases the DC effect by +5.
Yes, Orchid is trying to kill her.

Ongoing Action: Alien Girl has to take another DC 26 Strength check to escape the Grab, only this round she's at -5 penalty due to Improved Hold.

The laugh got louder as Igor threw a perfect pitch and the agents ran away from him, obviously not wishing to earn themselves a plane-free flight across half an ocean. Igor picked up one of the discarded laser guns and shot blindly as he advanced forward in a relaxed pace, the music continuing to blast from the boombox resting on his shoulder.

The central tower grew closer. The boss was up there and nothing had exploded yet so that meant things were probably going peachy.

If he could attract the attention of some of the local big shots, all the better : the boss would probably appreciate NOT having to eviscerate all the brats herself.
He considered taking hostages and then screaming some kind of ultimatum to bait them into his location. But then, the only available hostages were soldiers. There were hundreds of them on the island and their very job was to die to delay invaders. No well-disciplined hero would just rush to save one of these guys if it meant neglecting whatever overall defense plan they had.
Also, given how his dramatic entrance had gathered exactly zero attention (squishy cannon fodders didn't count...), it was highly possible nobody could actually hear him.

He gazed upon the sky and then to the horizon across the ocean.

He did have a way of sending a message that these guys couldn't miss...

    Meridian

Meridian approached the base of the central tower, looking up at the spire. With the defense forces (wisely) choosing to avoid her, the path had been easy. She'd even found a vending machine and picked up a bottle of soda. Not that cheap plastic stuff either, good old-fashioned glass bottle. If there had been a straw on hand as well, the demigoddess probably would have called it a perfect stroll. But no dice on that, as things are never quite perfect.

    Well, except for her, obviously.

At the top of the tower, Sam could see Orchids drones, so she figured that Orchid herself was still up there. Others were probably still around, but with the buildings as they were, line of sight was limited. She sipped her drink and weighed her options, parking herself on a bench to ponder for a moment.

Destroying the whole island was pretty tempting. It'd send a message to the world, showing what happens when someone tries to get in her way. But, while emotionally satisfying, that plan didn't hold water. For one, blowing the whole thing up (while doable) would probably kill the rest of her team, fragile things that they were. Incinerating people who agree to work with you was a bad way to make friends. For another, if the island was gone, she'd have to swim back to land. Achievable, yeah, but annoying. Problem was that, short of moving the whole island to land (now that was an idea), there probably wasn't enough time to loot the whole thing before the sun went down. Lacking that kind of financial motive made it hard for Sam to really want to contribute much beyond showing up, at least for now, since the prospective gains were to small. While planning this out, the idea to take the entire Mobile Defense Force hostage had been floated, but that had the same issue. Unless she could negotiate a deal before sunset, then that'd just leave her stuck on an island with an army of angry folks.

Well, even if there wasn't much gain here for her, she knew the rest of her crew had their own ambitions, and getting rid of the rest of the soldiers would make that easier to achieve. Nothing wrong with helping out others, afterall. And who here couldn't benefit from her assistance? Nobody, that's who.

"Guess thats enough of a head start" She muttered to herself, downing the last of her drink. She shot the bottle, basketball style at a nearby trash can, and then settled back down on the bench, arms reclined over the frame, trying to get comfortable. Anyone who was going to try to escape her would have to have made it off the island by now, yeah?

The air around Meridian shimmered, as her skin began to radiate a dull red glow. But the light was small potatoes compared to the real effect, and that was the heat. Standing in an oven didn't do it justice, this was like being smack dab in the middle of an industrial furnace. And it spread fast, moving outward in a blast of solar heat that scorched everything it touched, erupting in all directions.

Sam thought about going back for another soda.

Everyone in 1 mile radius, DC 17 Fort Save Vs Damage, which must be repeated each turn while Meridian maintains the effect. Area should also have dramatic but cosmetic only effects associated with extreme heat.

Wasn't clear if the other two sidekicks had reached the bottom or not, so I'll just presmue that Meridian approached from the other side of the tower from them and so didn't have direct line of sight

Sorry to my teammates, but I presume you will all survive, where as the minion army will be suffering the heat.

    Black Orchid

Warning signs flashed within Orchid's helmet at a sudden spike in local temperature, with a HUD thermostat indicating a hazardously overheating climate. Fortunately, Orchids suit automatically adjusted its internal cooling systems to compensate for the abrupt surge of heat.

It didn't take a super-genius to know who was responsible for that.

'Stupid cow...' Orchid thought to herself, resisting the urge to shake her head.

"URSA!!!" Kid Adonis cries out as the metal spike pierces through the girl with ease. Kid Adonis wastes no time, smashing through the wall behind where Ursa was pinned, protecting the wounded girl from debris as the young paragon attempted to escape with his teammate. Meanwhile, the alien girl struggled to free herself from the tentacle's grasp, starting to panic and curse in a language Orchid didn't recognize. She was panicking.

    Everyone

All of you make it to the plaza with relative ease, just in time to see two teen heroes bust through the top floors of the central tower and off away from the plaza. The area was scorching hot thanks to Meridian, but otherwise it appeared to be abandoned by everyone else. At this time, there doesn't appear to be any sign of the other teen heroes guarding Brigadoon.

Orchid made a mental note to review the camera footage of her tentacles to figure out exactly how Kid Adonis had rescued "Ursa" from her iron grip. But for now, she had more important things to deal with!

Looking up and following Adonis' exit, Orchid said out loud through her metallic voice filter, "Where do you think you're going?"

As she said this, a mount on her shoulder opened up to produce a micro-missile launcher that presented a row of 5 separate rockets. On cue, one of the missiles lanced forward and towards Adonis and the near-death Ursa; the finger-sized projectile racing forward at high speeds before its warhead shattered open to produce a thousand more nano-missiles that detonated around the fleeing heroes.

    -> Insert results here <-

Orchid turned to survey the scene of the main command room, the senses of her helmet spying through the smoke, the smell of ozone and bodies slumped about the control panels and floors.

Looking up and over at the struggling alien-girl, Orchid just smiled in her helmet as the girl faced her fate. The supervillainess wouldn't kill her; instead, her constrictive tentacles would suffocate her to the point of unconsciousness, at which point her drones would ferry her away in a cage for later interrogation. If that girl really was an alien, and not just some deformed freak-show, Orchid wanted to pry every extraterrestrial secret from her that she could.

"They put up even less of a fight than I thought..." Orchid remarked when he compatriots entered the area.

Snaking her way over to the central set of control panels, Orchid's arms pushed aside the corpses of former mundane personnel and brought her fingers to the keyboards.

Directing her attention to the massive screens on display around the walls and knowing she was in the brain of the entire floating city-fortress, Orchid went about turning the bases defenses on its former inhabitants: re-configuring friend from foe so that her little entourage were the "friends" and everyone else was the "foe".

Orchid grinned inside her helmet. It was going to get a lot worse for them...

    "-Poser..."

From the ground, Igor watched, mildly ticked as Thunder Jesus took off after the heroic duo. He hated flying. And he couldn't fly. Which, given how many of his targets in the past had the tendency to flee like scared birds, was really annoying. Especially when it made his orders hard to follow : the boss had said to "get them !!", which was pretty straighforward and simple. No misunderstanding possible, you know ? He could already picture her raising her arms to the sky and screaming something about being surrounded by incompetents and idiots and how she had to do everything herself and... Mew... What use was it to worry about the future ?

    "-Ya, come over here !!"

The stolen laser gun in one hand, he waved for his hostages to follow him.
Most of them looked exhausted. And what's with the heat ?
He then walked to the bench and sat next to Meridian.

"-So... Ya ain't all hot about flying either, hu ?"

As he said so, he aimed for Kid Adonis and fired. The little turd might travel fast but light traveled faster.
His aim might be a bit off, given the distance and how the air seemed to shimmer weirdly, like on some very warm roadway.
But really, he wasn't doing to hurt the pretty boy and his girlfriend. He only wanted their attention.
