    Seeing these two spawn fall and the worms inside disperse into the ground, Olofire drinks one of his extracts. This one is silvery in color and he feels a rush of energy in his legs! Hurry Frederick! We mustn't let the spawn escape! And he takes off with an alchemically enhanced blinding speed!

    Jan gawks at Olofire's sudden burst of speed. "Be careful!!" she calls after the speeding halfling. After a vague, dismissive gesture toward her grease (which causes it to melt into nothingness), the gnome darts after him as best she can.

    Dismiss the grease, and then move to follow Olofire, until/unless she sees him engage with a hostile and/or a different hostile becomes visible. 20 ft move speed.

    Round 4

    Jan dismisses her spell and the party gives chase. Olofire leads and quickly comes upon what looks like the gate into a small yard with a large, well-kept garden plot. The fence is about 4-feet high and the gate is unlocked. As the halfling opens it he sees three more spawn! (Olofire needs to roll three DC 16 Will saves vs their fear auras, one for each visible spawn - he may apply Frederick's Aura of Courage bonus to the saving throws.) As he lumbers up behind the doctor Frederick sees one more spawn turning a corner. All four spawn appear to be fixated upon the house and not looking at the party. The sound of the girl crying disappears as a door slams somewhere on the far side of the farmhouse.

    There are three doors visible in addition to the gate just below Olofire - one in 7N going up into what looks like a storage building, another at 7R going to the right into a large shed, and at 9R going into the farmhouse. All doors are currently closed.


    Jan doesn't need a saving throw because she cannot see the nearest spawn over the fence...benefit of being small. The panicked condition ends for Lydia and Marzena, though they have to run back to get into the fight still (unless they have long-range magic they wish to use.

    Marzena finally manages to calm down enough to stop and turn back. Recognizing the effects of supernatural fear, she doesn't waste time berating herself for succumbing to it. Just one more blow sustained in battle. Instead, she takes flight, and heads back in the direction of the farmhouse as swiftly as she can.

    Marzena ran to the West, so I don't think she can see any of the enemies. She'll just fly in the general direction of the fight. She fled 4x60=240 ft from her starting point in AB11, so she's now 180 ft away from that point.

    This is assuming she couldn't run in straight line (there are obstacles like trees on the map). If she could, then she ran 480 ft instead, so she's now 420 ft away.

    "Olofire, stay with me," Frederick grunts, supernaturally tipped off the the Halfling's unease. "Doctor! I have it!" The second bark carries a pulse of energy, as Frederick calls upon Heironeous' blessing to bear Olofire's burden. For a heartbeat, the hulking paladin shudders, as he gets a glimpse into the psychological assault these spawn can exert.

    Still, the iron will of Heironeous carries him forward. With a brutish sneer, he kicks through the fence and into the yard beyond. "Come now, worms. Your end is nigh!"

    Round 5

    Lydia and Marzena begin moving to return to the battle, the witch flying and the cleric running with drawn blade. The three heroes behind the farmhouse move to bring their weapons to bear on the visible spawn. As she turns the corner, Jan comes into view of three of the spawn of Kyuss and feels supernatural fear wash over her (three DC 16 Will saves, including +4 from Frederick's Aura of Courage or flee for four rounds). Frederick takes Olofire's fear and resists it with the fearlessness of a paladin. Stepping over the garden fence he calls upon his divine connection and imbues his blade to sharpen its edge. Olofire drinks his mutagen, taking on his feral form, and dashes next to one of the unholy undead, ready to get in too close if the abomination misses him with its impending attacks...

    At the noise of the heroes' approach three of the undead turn to face them while the fourth continues its pursuit of the still-unseen crying-girl. The girl's voice continues to fade, as she seems to have entered the house and the sounds of battle overpower her now-faint sobs. The spawn beside Olofire attacks with both arms, slamming the halfling once (dealing 5 damage and depositing a worm) and missing once. Seeing his opening, the little doctor dives in close and fights from underfoot the spawn of Kyuss. The other two spawn turn to attack Frederick. Both hit the paladin (for 16 total damage and depositing two worms), though one receives a damaging slash from the enlarged half-orc as it approaches. The undead seems to scoff at the wound with a gurgling, barking laugh as worms swarm around the broken, undead flesh and seem to be knitting it back together!

    The spawn Frederick hit is gaining advantage of its Fast Healing. Most of the time you all haven't seen this yet because you have been killing them in one round, but all of them have this power.

    Even after taking the hit from the creature, Olofire's speed allows him to see both the new worm crawling on his armor and an opening to confound the creature more by wriggling forward and weaving between the creatures legs. His feral toothy grin shows that he is right where he intended to be as he let's loose an assault of tooth and nail against the creature and it's little worm friend. Aaaaaaggghhhh!

    Underfoot Assault (Ex): At 1st level, if a foe whose size is larger than the mouser’s is adjacent to her and misses her with a melee attack, the mouser can as an immediate action spend 1 panache point to move 5 feet into an area of the attacker’s space. This movement does not count against the mouser’s movement the next round, and it doesn’t provoke attacks of opportunity. While the mouser is within a foe’s space, she is considered to occupy her square within that foe’s space.

    While the mouser is within her foe’s space, the foe takes a –4 penalty on all attack rolls and combat maneuver checks not made against the mouser, and all of the mouser’s allies that are adjacent to both the foe and the mouser are considered to be flanking the foe. The mouser is considered to be flanking the foe whose space she is within if she is adjacent to an ally who is also adjacent to the foe. The mouser can move within her foe’s space and leave the foe’s space unhindered and without provoking attacks of opportunity, but if the foe attempts to move to a position where the mouser is no longer in its space, the movement provokes an attack of opportunity from the mouser.


    Olofire will stand his ground in it's space and attack the Spawn with a bite and swipe at the worm with a claw. Second claw attack at the worm only if the first misses, otherwise he will swipe at the spawn again.

    In a frenzy of violence both Olofire and Frederick destroy the spawn in the garden, ending the immediate threat. As Jan flees from the scene of the horror Marzena, flying overhead, sees the little gnome and heads in her direction. Lydia continues to run back to the farmhouse, intent on bring her righteous anger to bear on the remaining undead.

    Speaking of which, no undead are visible and the sound of crying cannot be heard anymore. There are three buildings in view - the large farmhouse and two outbuildings on either side of the garden. Each building has visible doors (all closed) and the farmhouse presumably has more doors on other sides of the building. The map is largely unchanged from last round, with the exception that all the spawn of Kyuss are gone. Do you explore the side buildings or go straight for the farmhouse?

    Frederick turns away from hewing through a pair of the spawn in as many strokes and begins dashing towards Olofire just in time to see the small alchemist rip apart a third from between its feet. He snorts, smiling beneath his pronounced brow. "Good hit, Doctor!" he exhorts, as he almost reflexively calls upon Heironeous' blessing of healing.

    "Honestly, I thought they'd be harder to kill," he mumbles, looking around the small yard a little confused. "Where'd the girl go?" He squints, and begins growling under his breath. "Are we sure there is a girl? Maybe this is all a trap." He shoulders the blade, warily looking about- fully expecting something much worse to appear from... somewhere.

    While she can only hear the sounds of the fight on the other side of the farmhouse, Marzena sees Jan in full flight and has no trouble guessing the cause. She dives straight for the gnome, a string of arcane words on her lips:

    "En mon amie je vois la terreur
    Que cette vermine lui inspira
    Je viens lui dire, haut les coeurs!
    Ensemble, reprenons le combat!"


    The spell's words instantly dissipate the panic from Jan's mind. The witch calls out : "This only blocks their magical fear for a short while! Let's finish them off before that happens, shall we?"

    Jan's uncontrollable sobbing ceases as quickly as it began. The gnome blinks up at her flying companion, clearly regathering her bearings, before turning and trotting back in the direction of Frederick and Olofire.

    Arriving there (huffing and puffing) at more or less at the same time as Marzena, the gnome glares haughtily at the once-again-still corpses of the spawn, their internal worms wriggling and dispersing into the ground. "So where did the girl go? And was she being chased? We can't leave even one of these monstrosities laying around... what with their tendency to make 'friends'." the sarcasm drips off of her final word.

    Run as far as I can around the corner and into the building as far as a 60ft move will take me. As soon as I see a spawn I want to get into melee with it and full attack if I can. If I need to double move to get into melee I will.

    AoO if presented. I will not move into their space if they miss this round as I don’t have an ally with me at this time.

    I can make rolls when I get back to my laptop unless DarkOne is ready for a post and would like to roll for me. I’m good either way.

    The party takes a moment to regroup, with Marzena, Jan, and Lydia rushing up in their respective ways. As they follow Olofire around the corner of the building they find a short walkway with a gate on the right and a door, into the house, on the left. Both are closed and there are no sounds of either the missing spawn or the crying girl. A moment of consideration confirms that neither passed through the gate, so they must be inside the farmhouse.

    Everyone is together in the garden. Just give me coordinates for your positions at the start of the round. If you wish a good idea of what you can see, look at the last map I posted - it shows fence and building walls.

    There is what looks like an attic, but not a proper second floor. The windows would be a tight squeeze for a well-fed halfling and have thin glass panes.

    The attic doesn't really have windows, but there is probably a fully-enclosed room up there.

    The party can only see one spawn inside the farmhouse, on a set of wooden stairs that presumably leads to the attic. The ground floor of the farmhouse has a central fireplace, shared by at least three rooms (two that you can see, and a third that you can't yet). From where you are (and have been) you can see that there are at least two doors from the rooms you can see into additional rooms on the ground floor (at N12 and Q14).

    Of the (unexplored) outbuildings in the garden, there are two doors - one to the barn behind Frederick (N7) and another to the shed by the gate (R7). In addition to the gate by which several of you entered the garden (R5) there is another gate on the left of L10, across from one of the doors into the farmhouse. It is through this door that the spawn presumably entered the house.

    Once the visible spawn is aware of you all I will need DC 16 Will saves from everyone except Frederick or your PC will start fleeing. Remember the +4 bonus due to being close to the paladin.
