Thanquil restores Liselle's strength as the group violently brings to bear their might in the melee against the Sword Prince. The heroes' weapons bite deep into the arachnid abomination's body. Overwhelmed by the damage, the Sword Prince's arachnid legs give out and as its life fades, the drow face begins to scream.

The ichor stops flowing from its wounds as its body swells, its tongue swelling and interrupting the continuous scream. The creature's eyes swell and begin to leak venom. Eventually monster's body can withstand no more and it explodes, showering the entire party with a deluge of enormously potent poison (Death Throes).

Solstafir spat out in disgust after some of the exploding ichor found its way into his mouth. The venom didn't affect him, but tasted horrible nonetheless. Liselle stays within the mist for the time being.

Thanquil peeks out to see if he can determine what the Staff Prince is up to.
Hide (1d20+20)[24] (20 as you moved to the edge of the mist and he may see the movement)
    Enemy's spot (1d20+8)[10]

The Staff Prince has moved, it seems he's taken a position of cover behind the corpse of his mother, but is peeking around and watching the mist. You see the Staff Prince channel power with his staff, three Tiny Spiders still crawling on their larger sibling. After a moment he strikes the staff against the cords and several of the cords forming the floor violently disconnect from the wall. Twang! Twang! Twang!

It seems it will only take him about about a minute, or eight more rounds, to dismantle the floor at this rate. The floor is also becoming more dangerous as holes open up in the web structure through which a medium creature could fall through. It still appears there's nothing but an endless abyss below.

In her Slowed and injured condition, Liselle elects to stay within the mist unless given orders to the contrary.

Solstafir's Spider Zombie shimmies up towards the Staff Prince, with its climb speed, it reaches the Staff Prince upon its second movement and attempts to disarm. The Staff Prince chooses not to take an attack of opportunity against the Spider Zombie.

    (1d20+6)[18] for the zombie
(1d20+13)[15] for the Staff Prince including a +4 bonus for two handing the staff.

Knowing it has reached melee, it uses its swift action to move its essentia to Necrocarnum Defense.

The staff plummets as the Spider Zombie wrests it away from the Prince. "NOOOO!" the Staff Prince exclaims, clearly alarmed by this turn of events. The staff lands on the ground near the party. At this much closer distance, you can see it is made of a chitinous, almost bone-like material.

Solstafir's harpoon flies towards the staff prince (1d5)[1] Blind-Fight roll, lodging into the conjunction between two pieces of its body. A critical hit!
    DC 29 Reflex save (1d20+5)[12]
a stray web cord that has disconnected from structure swings down with highly unfortunate timing, clipping the harpoon and sending it off course. It eventually falls back down near Solstafir.

Orchid and Thanquil focus their efforts on bringing Orchid closer to fighting condition.

Mystic energy swirls around the Prince's Staff. "Blood of my blood, what a beautiful specimen. Your power will be quite useful. Become food for our queen."
The Staff Prince attempts to touch the Necrocarnum Zombie spider with his staff:
(1d20+9)[28] vs. Touch AC 15 (with Necrocarnum Defense).

As the staff makes contact with the Spider Zombie, the mystic energy swirls outward and around the Spider Zombie, crushing it and pulling its compacted remains into the staff. Four new Tiny Spiders emerge from the staff.

The three Tiny Spiders fire magic missiles at the only non-arachnid target they can see: Solstafir.

Clearly in a panic, the Staff Prince elects to go after the Staff. Dropping down after it.

The Necrocarnum Zombie takes the opportunity to attack, but misses the Staff Prince not quite expecting such a strange maneuver from its enemy:
    (1d20+6)[10]
    on a 26 (1d20+6)[18]
On a hit it deals (1d8+4)[6]
On crit it deals (1d8+4)[7] more.

The Staff Prince falls 60ft, taking (6d6)[26] damage, becoming Slowed and prone, and grabs the Staff. The Staff Prince is now close enough to engage in melee, just off the edge of the stone platform. It may be possible to destroy the web structure under him and drop him into the Abyss.

The Tiny Spiders are squashed by the fall.

Liselle had no way of knowing for sure what had just dropped to the ground nearby... but from what she remembered, only one of the (remaining) spiders was big enough to make a decent thump, and it'd be a really good idea to kill him too while they had the chance. Unfortunately, she can't exactly charge out of the mist, so just has to jog over in the prince's direction for now.

The group emerges from the mist, bearing down upon the weakened, prone Staff Prince. Weapons and magic come raining down on him as he ineffectually attempts to defend himself with his staff, though it suddenly becomes slippery. As he fumbles for it Thanquil's bolt of dark energy collides with him, blasting his pathetic defense aside.

Solstafir's axe cuts straight into the creature's face. Ichor gurgles out from the fresh wound and just as Solstafir yanks his axe away the creature's body goes entirely limp.

An eerie silence falls over the enormous chamber as the purple light continues to stream in from far above.

The silence is interrupted by the sound of stone grinding against stone as a slab of stone slides into the floor on the side of the statue base, revealing a chamber larger than the statue base.

Within you see another of those strange plants bearing four purple hued dungeon fruit. Piles of treasure are scattered about the chamber.

A portal to Solum opens with a characteristic whoosh.

Actually, Liselle was quite curious if this would work or not. This may have been her first encounter with them, but she wouldn't really want to eat something she'd found in the dungeon raw if she could help it, any more than Orchid would.

Seeing the last twisted spider creature fall Thanquil lets out a small cheer "We did it!"

Calming down from the rush of adrenaline, Thanquil remembers their mission and thinks in Infernal, then repeats it out loud if he gets no response. "Who are you? Was the fight to your liking?"

He returns the scroll of Grease to Orchid and gathers his things then makes his way down to the treasure room.

"We can't take the fruit back to Solum, they don't survive the journey through the portal. We eat them here or we leave them behind." Thanquil replies to Liselle, then nods along as Orchid speaks. "That's a great idea, I'd also like to take some time to study the fruit before we return."

Thanquil then pulls out a few pieces of paper and begins taking notes on the fruits and drawing sketches of them. He takes one from the tree and slices it open with a knife. Taking notes on what the flesh of the fruit is like, along with the scent. He steels himself thinking I need to understand this thing, how it all links to the Infernal voice, I need to feel the effects for myself, I have to eat it. He takes the first bite from the fruit and makes notes on the taste, then waits to see if he feels any different. If not then he will continue to consume the fruit until he feels any change, taking notes along the way.

"I've had one before, but at the time I didn't feel much different at all." Orchid comments as she begins setting up her little cooking area.

Taking a couple of logs of fire, Orchid sets both aflame. On one, she sets up a pot pours in some rice from a bag she had in her haversack and water from her everfull mug. She puts a lid on it and sets it aside to boil. For the other log, she sets down a pan and places pieces of chicken she had cut in advance. After seasoning it with salt and pepper she sets it aside for the moment. The maid walks to the tree and grabs one of the fruit off of the plant that bared it. On returning back to her cooking area, Orchid takes out a bowl and places the fruit inside. With a command, she has the spare hand crush the fruit for her as she adds in honey, garlic and soy. Grabbing a whisk, she mixes up the ingredients and pours the mixture in with the chicken and sets it aside to simmer. She then checks on the rice to see how far it has come along. One seeing it done, she removes it from the log and puts out the fire. While the chicken finishes cooking, she cleans off the spare hand she had used for crushing the fruit previously. When the chicken is done, she sets it aside and puts out that fire as well. Grabbing about a bowl, she puts in rice and then the chicken mixed with the fruit sauce- but before she begins to eat, she thinks better of it and instead puts it back.

Each of the heroes of Solums collects the various treasure from within the Death Door chamber and decides carefully whether or not to consume the prepared fruit. Once each has made their decision and there seems to be nothing more left to do (retroactive dungeons like further conversation with the Infernal Voice or what-have-you are fine) the group passes through the vortex returning the yard.

Upon arrival you see it is late in the evening. The sky, rather than the normal empty void it would be on a clear night, is overcast with clouds as water steadily rains down turning the yard to mud. Large tarps are pitched over yawning brass braziers with conflagrations dancing up from their mouths providing much welcome warmth and light.

You're met by a young human boy, the faintest of hairs barely sprouting from his jaw line. Rather than usher you to a table in the rain, he leads you inside the walls of the yard. This seems almost an unusual breach of protocol, though it makes sense when you come into a small room where Camilla, still wearing fancier clothes than a normal bureaucrat and no hat, sits at a heavy wooden desk, writing implements at the ready. Her fiery red hair shifts as she stands up while you enter.

Unlike the normal dull welcome, this time there are plush chairs and a small table hosting a variety of rare beverages and delectable delicacies for you to devour.

"Welcome. I'm hear to take account of your Delve." she says. Her sharp blue eyes turn towards the Usher who is still standing awkwardly in the room, eyeing the food on the table as drool visibly pools up behind his slightly parted lips.

"Vacate yourself, child." Camilla says, though the usher just looks back and forth between the woman and the food for a moment before Camilla releases an exasperated sigh. She reaches down underneath the top of the desk and collects a large, tall round hat and places it on her head. Not as tall as the head bureaucrat's, but it clearly shows she holds fairly high rank within the bureaucracy.

"Vacate yourself, child." she repeats, to which the usher immediately acknowledges and leaves the room, as if without the hat, she lacked any authority whatsoever. "These hats are so unfashionable." she complains as she prepares to take your statements.

(Feel free to ask questions, role play, etc)

Once you've given your statements, you return to your homes, arriving to the cheers of fans. The gold influx your team is bringing is has improved the lives of those living in your districts. Within your homes you've become household names, with children playing pretend and arguing who gets to play as you.

After the usher leaves, Thanquil sits in one of the chairs and starts picking at the spread of food as goes over the details of their delve to Camila. He summarises the fight with the goblinoid carrying the magical bag and the other encounters in the dungeon. Then in more detail goes through the fight against the Spider Princess and Princes. He relays the conversation he had with the infernal voice and adds that he ate the dungeon fruit when it was presented.

"I wanted an understanding of how the fruits power worked. I thought it prudent to try the fruit but once, the risks seem to come from repeated consumption. I've searched the libraries for details on the fruit, are there any resources you have access to on the fruit and it's effects?" He finishes.

I craft everything, though what artist doesn't enjoy their own art?

Camilla takes stock of your questions after removing her large tall round hat and running her fingers through her flowing red hair.

"Atticus and I have done some research on the fruit you've described. Our research isn't public, though for the sake of our mission I'll provide you access to our research. The long and short of it is we believe taking elixir will ward off the negative effects of the fruit. Liselle, Orchid, if you wish to take the elixir we haven't yet identified as promising a team of Delvers for our goals."

She reaches behind the desk and stashes the hat away.

Then, hearing Orchid's question she responds calmly, "It would be a waste of time and resources. Raise Dead won't work on a Dungeon creature's corpse. The standard theory is that they have no souls to call back. We've used Speak With Dead to interrogate Dungeon Denizens before, though from what we've gathered they have no memories prior to the Delve where they're encountered."

As best Orchid can tell, the hat doesn't appear to be magical. Bureaucrat hats are like badges, if a bureaucrat makes demands of you without a hat, they may be a con artist. Unlawfully wearing a forged or stolen bureaucrat hat is a fairly serious offense, generally the punishment is conscription into the King's army and lifetime of Delving.

Camilla responds "The elixir is our secret weapon to get the throne, there are likely to be things I'm unable to tell you about it. If you have questions though I will attempt to sate your curiosity.

It grants incredible power and has no negative repercussions on the imbiber. It sounds to good to be true, but it's still the truth."
