As Abigale studies the undead she begins to whisper to the others. "It seems like there is some kind of vermin living inside of this creature so be careful when you attack as they may come out at you. If I'm not mistake it the creature is known as a plague sprewer, I have only read about them, but from what I recall they were resistant to bludgeoning and piercing damage everyone. Also they can inflict a disease upon people so everyone be careful as while I can cure a single person of disease, I was not prepared to engage such a monster. I would advise not closing in, and instead trying to keep our distance as we fight it. Targeting its poor reflexes due to its mindless undead nature may work best as it cannot fully remember how to use its muscles properly so we in theory should be able to out maneuver it with ease." she informs the others before watching the assault on the plague sprewer begin.

Liselle takes her position just behind Solstafir, pulling out one of her dorjes and using it to manifest Expansion on herself. With that done, she takes up her chain and waits to see if the... 'plague spewer'... comes towards them.

    Spoiler
    Show

Liselle's in Child of Shadows stance, as she usually is during exploration. So a 20% concealment chance if anything attacks her.

Having used her action in the surprise round to Expand herself, Liselle cannot also attack. But she is prepping to AOO if it tries to counter-charge them.

Her Spiked Chain probably isn't a great choice for damage dealing, but Lis is actually prepping to use Stand Still to keep it in place 10-15' in front of Solstafir.

    AOO - (1d20+14)[16] - Crit threat on a 34
    AOO Crit Conf - (1d20+20)[29]

    AOO Crit Conf - (1d20+20)[28]
    Damage - (4d6+11)[24]
    Crit Damage - (4d6+11)[28]

Since Liselle is using Stand Still, her AOOs do no damage - the Plague Spewer needs to pass a DC 10 + Damage Roll Reflex save or have its movement halted in the threatened square it was trying to leave.

Alistair readies to fire an arrow once the shot is clear: (1d20+13)[21] dealing (1d8+5)[6]

Solstafir and Orchid blast the rubble off of the foe. As it is prone and restricted by the rubble, it gets a -4 circumstance to Reflex:

Levi blasts the creature as soon as the rubble is blown away.

Liselle expands and the zombie readies itself to pounce on any sudden movement.

With the plague spewer immobile (and Solstafir and Zombie closing in on it), Liselle follows them into melee. By switching to her greatsword, jumping to the spot behind Solstafir, and bringing her sword down as hard as she can. A move she will probably regret if this thing turns out to be prone to splattering... Or she, somehow, still manages to miss a target that's prone and entangled...

Normally Abigale would rush in to use her healing magic to destroy an undead, however with this particular one that could be a death wish. Instead she holds her action, waiting for the others to finish acting as well as the plague spewer so that she may apply her skills where best they could be used.

The team unleashes attack after attack on undead which was caught unawares, making short work of it. As it groans its final unholy mock breath, rats scurry out from under the rotten flesh and flee in various directions. The Plague Spewer is destroyed.

    Each character gains 6,300 XP.

Searching the area reveals the tattered remains of a corpse amongst the rubble, though the head, protected by a magic helmet, is largely intact. The helmet is identified as a Helm of Comprehend Languages and Read Magic. The corpse also has a coin purse with 2,000gp worth of coins and gems.

With only one direction remaining, the group opens the large double doors, revealing the main hall, which has crumbling support beams lining both the left and right wall. It seems some of the ground in the middle of the chamber has collapsed leaving a bottomless pit. At the far end of the main chamber is an altar and at the right and left far end are doors. As the plague spewer is destroyed before it even had a chance to attack them, the priestess of Pelor was more than happy, had any of her allies been infected it could have been deadly. After all while she was able to cure one with easy, if more than one had been infected she would of had to choose, an idea she did not relish. As the group finds the helm upon the undead creatures head she looks at the others with confusion. "I don't understand why an unintelligent undead would be wearing such a thing." she points out to the others when the helm is identified. "It is not smart enough in theory to think about the benefit of armor meaning whatever created it choose to place it on the creatures head. But for what purpose?" she says looking puzzled.

Sadly it was not a mystery they could solve at this moment, if it even was a mystery. With only one room remaining Sister Abigale follows the others through the double door. "Possibly, it is still a bit far away though, my eyes are not as good as they once were when I was as young as the rest of you. I'll try though."

The altar has been thoroughly smashed by something. Its shards and remains are thoroughly festooned with toadstools. The wall behind the altar and ceiling above are largely intact.

Inspecting the altar, Abigail can make out a emblems revering Shekinester, the Naga Queen. Strange that there would be an altar to a Naga deity in a Dungeon that has only held undead.

As Abigail is inspecting, the wall behind the altar bursts inwards, broken open by a tall gaunt humanoid figure. Other than its glowing red eyes and partially rotted mouth with only a few largely black teeth contained within, its features are obfuscated by tightly wound bandages. Mummies! From the dust three more of these creatures rush into the room.

One Mummy used its surprise round opening the wall

Two make a partial charge against Abigail, attempting to bludgeon her with their tainted fists.
    1. (1d20+11)[12] to hit (before Luminous Armor)
    2. (1d20+11)[13] to hit
    If they hit they deal

    2. (1d6+10)[16] plus Mummy Rot Fort DC 16 (1d20+8)[22]

The zombies' rush is halted by the mere sight of Abigail, which seems to repel the vile undead.

The final Mummy activates Despair (Su) - Will Save DC 16 or be paralyzed for (1d4)[1] rounds. Immunity to Paralysis or Freedom of Movement make you immune. You can still take purely mental actions while Paralyzed.
    Abigail (1d20+12)[31]
    Alistair (1d20+12)[27]
Levi (1d20+13)[15] - paralyzed this round
    Liselle (1d20+10)[29]
Orchid (1d20+8)[11] - paralyzed this round
Solstafir (1d20+2)[14] - paralyzed this round
    Zombie (1d20+3)[20]

    Initiative:
    Mummies (1d20)[2]

    Abigail (1d20+2)[7]
    Alistair (1d20+6)[18]
    Levi (1d20+7)[9]
    Liselle (1d20+14)[32]
    Orchid (1d20+2)[15]
    Solstafir (1d20+9)[17]

The group has initiative. One Mummy has used Despair, making you immune to that particular Mummy's Despair, but the other three could still use it against you.

"Guess we really are the only thing alive here, huh," Solstafir said all to casually while scratching at his beard as the heavy weight of despair slid off him unnoticed and unheeded. A two-fingered flicking gesture directed his minion at one of the mummies harrying Abigail, and rather than striking it took a run-up and punted at the smaller creature with excessive strength to kick it at another of the wrapped undead. Thus lined up they were ready for Solstafir to release a stream of flame at them before joining the melee with ax in hand.

Solstafir and his zombie make short work of a Mummy, the zombie tossing into the flaming breath weapon, softening it up for Solstafir to bisect it with his Hizagkuur.

Alistair Turns the remaining Mummies, who in their desperation to flee from the Cleric, go single file into the bottomless hole in the middle of the room. They plummet until they're out sight.

With the Mummies destroyed, each character gains 4,200 XP.

Searching the hidden chamber behind the altar which hid the mummies reveals treasure, possibly buried with them - coins, gems, and art items altogether worth 12,000gp. There are no magic items among the Mummy's hoard.

There are two obvious directions you could go:

Orchid puts the scroll away a second before completing its activation.

"Well, that's efficient." the artificer comments after witnessing the remaining mummies jump to their death. Her head turns to look at the doors on both sides.

"Why don't we try the right?" she suggests.

As the group make their way across the room to the altar Sister Abigale inspects the shards that remain and notices the emblem of Shekinester among the pieces. "Well thats a bit odd, though it does begin to describe the helmet. This appears to have once been a temple of..." however before the priestess of Pelor can get the last word out a mummy breaks through a wall and she begins to be assaulted by the group. Thankfully her divine powers protect her long enough for her allies to come to her aid. And once more she watches as the group makes quick work of their enemies. "I must say Alistar that was a perfect channel if I may say so myself. You had them so scared they offed themselves." she notes, after all from what she knew mummies were intelligent undead and would have known such a fall would probably kill them.

"What I was going to say before the mummies appeared was this at least at one point was a temple of Shekinester, the Naga Queen. So the helm we found earlier makes a good amount of sense, as it would allow anyone wearing it to read magical scrolls and such, and from what I know of naga's is that they love magic. So an item that allows them to use some that they wouldn't normally be able to use would no doubt be a valuable tool." she explains to the others. "The mummies thus would be guardians, of something, though what I am not entirely sure, the fact they were humanoid is a little odd, but perhaps slaves like the other undead we have found. I suspect whatever is beyond one of these doors will be highly valuable to put four such defenders in one area, and it is no doubt trapped for anything that is not a naga to get at or avoid so best to be careful everyone." she explains as the group begins to decide which door to choose. To her it didn't matter to greatly as she knew they would explore the whole place reardless, she was more curious about the temple itself at this point and how it became like this. She understood most of the natural dungeons, they made sense, the ones that are ancient ruins though always seemed odd to her however.

"Solstafir I don't mean to pry, and you don't have to answer if you do not wish to but I am curious. In all my years of going into the Dungeon it has always been the ruins and such that have bothered me the most. Natural places, caves, frozen tundras, blistering deserts, murky swamps, all that make sense to an extent. After all there has to be something out there in the great unknown, its why we keep sending search parties out, even if none return. But here, in the Dungeon, walking among the relics of some forgotten empire, did you people ever come across other empires and such still alive, or were they all like this, dead, decayed, and the like? I mean I'm happy its not our home that looks like this, but it does make me wonder what happened to them to make them fall? Why are we still alive where they are not? Did they once have a portal like us to the Dungeon and not keep sending people in until they were at last overrun and destroyed?" she asks, not expecting him to be able to answer the last questions, but perhaps on if he or his people had encountered other, thriving, kingdoms in their time within the dungeon.

Orchid tilts her head. "I'm not him, but we did actually come across some that could speak back to us and we could hold a conversation. It was with a pyramid salamanders- which aren't too far off. They mentioned they were searching for a way to Solum and away from their own world. At the time though, none of us thought about asking if they had a portal too. I think I brought a corpse back- if so, I believe Thanquil has been keeping it fresh so at some point if you want you could try raising it or finding some way to commune with it."

"Bah, I guess I messed that one up a bit too much," Solstafir said as his attempt to pick up the lone remaining mummy resulted in its arm coming clean off the burnt remains that were nine parts blackened skin to one part white bandages. He turned to Abigail at her question and tossed the useless arm into the hole to join its brethren. "From what my folks told me the dwarves who became the firebloods didn't travel much or at all, they were locked in the same Dungeon with their escape stones shattered and no portal to escape while the big red lived. That's the two ways to get out as you know, clear the place or use one of those trinkets. Now whether the grand forge of the Anvil of Embers is something that preexisted or they built it from the ground up I can't say, even my granpa was generations removed from the original party going down there. Though if you ask me the claims to its grand scale don't mesh with the idea of a dozen people and their offspring building it all." He peered down into the bottomless pit, adding a glob of spit to the mummy offering for good measure. "So maybe it was the relic of some ancient empire, or that dragon used some magics to conjure it from thin air. I'd hardly know how feasible that would be. I only know that something grander than our Foundry would require thousands of people and a lifetime to build. Hells, we still are, the three Associations in the southeastern upper section just added another two floors I hear."

Abigale listens to Orchid and Solstafir's stories with great interest, and only starts to speak after they are done. "I may just try that Orchid. It may help us gain a better understanding of the Dungeon itself if we learn about the civilizations that we explore. After all I cannot see random monsters simply making stuff for others to plunder. This church for instance, so far those who should be found defending it have not been, why? It would be interesting to hear what this salamander would have to say, thank you."

"The anvil of Embers? I'm sorry I don't believe I have ever heard of that, is that how your people escaped, or how they defeated the red one?" Abigale asks, slightly confused, though the fact he admits the stories about it don't line up with what he himself knows to be true is worth noting. "As for the Foundry, I may have to commission something for my brother when we return, he sadly doesn't watch our sister for free, and nothing here so far will grab his interest to my knowledge." Abigale replies to Solstafir, asking a few more questions, while stating that she would no doubt be hiring his people for a job, hoping to further strengthen relations between the group.

"As for speaking with them, it all comes down to if they are willing and capable of speaking. In the end for us to go home we have to defeat them, however learning why they are where they are may help us. Even if it is only like the Salamander and simply speaking to the remains to get the questions answered so whoever we speak to cannot lie." she adds in reply to Alistair.

After some discussion, Liselle searches the door and finding it free from traps, pushes it open for Levi to initiate his scouting. As the door opens, the party hears a lone voice chanting from the chamber within. Behind the door is a towering (Large category) serpentine enemy with a humanoid upper body - the first non-undead; a Naga.

Those with spellcraft realize the enemy is casting Unholy Blight as a shadowy orb zips out from within the chamber, which exudes a wave of curse energy that washes over all of the party members.

To overcome SR if you have it: (1d20+8)[26]
Unholy Blight deals (4d8)[16] damage and causes the Sickened status for (1d4)[1] rounds.

The bolt zips through a shimmering field around around the Naga and slams into the creature, who exclaims in pain. Those with Spellcraft recognize that Puhrjan has cast at least two defensive spells before the battle started: Shield and Shield of Faith.

Puhrjan retrieves a scroll from a small pouch tied onto its body and casts Animate Legion and then retreats into the chamber, ducking behind a pile of rubble.

The chamber where the Naga stands appears to be split into sections with piles of rubble and debris scattered here and there, from among the debris, bones assemble into two Large skeletons which move forward to block the door. The foremost one swipes a claw at Liselle, the back one can't get into range with its counterpart blocking its path through the door.

"Well at least that proves my point that something at least remained. Now is it the last survivor of this place or simply one of many. Guess we will find out later." the priestess says as the unholy energy strikes her and her allies. "You all go on ahead, I will deal with these two and catch up." she states as she looks upon the two undead skeletons and begins channeling her magic, as she does so, the purple light from the suns seem to focus in on her as she begins weaving signs as she prays, a massive circle begins to surround her, and the two skeletons, as well as her allies healing them, or in the case of the enemy attempting to destroy them.

Allies also gain benefit of Imbued Healing which grants +10temp HP, +2more HP because of Ritual blessing (Anoint), And anything over MAX hp adds another 7hp total to each person from Initiate of ilmater.

And so long as said people have temp hp they also gain a +2 sacred bonus on Fortitude saves and a +2 sacred bonus on checks made to resist being bull rushed or tripped.

So we took 16 damage, healed 33+ 10 temp so we are at full with 17 temp hp now
