Old abandoned Caves or under the roots of giant trees are popular adventuring resting spots after all. ^^

But seriously It's a given that you take a sensible resting spot, that doesn't mean that nothing may happen while taking watch.

I'm not 100% sure on resting rules but should you're rest be interrupted that doesn't stop your spell retrieving (you begin to rest, get interrupted in 4 hours, you don't have to rest for an additional 8 Hours to regain spells or hit points, 4 more hours are okay. Of course if you get attacked every minute you can't rest, but with one or even two interrupted rests it won't hurt you're regaining things.)

Oh and when you're gonna reach town eventually, do you want to do something to mask your appearance at all?

The thing is, Coney and Larimar (even if one doesn't seem like a cockatrice) are already monsters (kind of).

Jahn has some sort of dragon heritage if I'm not totally mistaken.

Ken's an elf and Thaum could also be a Water Genasi.

It's of course up to you but you don't seem exactly unfitting for the environment.

I'll just order Thaum around and make him carry my bags.

It'll be pretty clear who is holding the leash!

Disguising kind of requires knowing what you are doing, and I feel like we don't know how the forest and its food chain work. In Trials of Mana, it was just a dangerous forest and the beastmen had their kingdom there, but they also sent their babies into the forest to fend for themselves and thus grow strong.

Is the forest in this game less the beastmen's domain and more a monster nation?

The forest (and all towns inside of it) are the beastmans domain. Though in the games the beastman were all werewolves (at least I can't recall any other) though here we have different werebeasts and more beastlike humanoids are all considered to be beastmen. Though what exactly all of that may encompass none of your characters know.

Does that mean we can call all awakened monsters beastmen?

I guess you could but it would kinda be like in Vtm you call every ugly vampire a Nosferatu or call every subset of elfes just elves, without recognizing that they are wild elves, high elves and drow... Or someone is a biker and you assume that he must be one of these hells angels people.

I haven't thought about it from this angle, but I guess it could very well be a common misconception to call every awakened animal or every nonhumanoid a beastmen.

What I wanted to elude too is that your characters don't really know about clear lines, besides that chobins are they're own race but could very well be called beastmen and that rabites are on the rise to be accepted as a race of they're own.

It will definitely not break your neck on the "social banquet" I just wanted to drive home that they're is not that much known about the region you're in and that you're kinda like explorers on uncharted (or almost uncharted) lands.

It'll be interesting to see how Larimar and Coney are treated here - as lesser, because we're not part-humanoid, or perhaps somehow closer to an ideal. Should be fun!

I'd like to make checks on the people around here. Just like, maybe to identify them and get an idea of who they are and the culture?

    Raven-transforming people:
    knowledge nature: (1d20+5)[20]
    knowledge local (untrained): (1d20+1)[3]

    Mane-claw people:
    knowledge nature: (1d20+5)[12]
    knowledge local (untrained): (1d20+1)[18]

    The smith Calcifer?
    knowledge arcana: (1d20+2)[6]
    knowledge local (untrained): (1d20+1)[3]

Any other checks you think we should be making for information?

A sense Motive would be nice (I knew I forgot something in my listings at the beginning of this section.) I'll write you some information that Larimar get's when I have it ready.

A sense motive from everyone? Probably wouldn't hurt if everyone rolled that too.

As for me, no ranks in mine. (1d20+1)[18]

I rolled a Sense Motive for Jahn and Coney (Normally I would have waited to let you roll yourselves but I wanted to get a post up, before the Weekend swallows me again. Here's the link for your rolls)

Sorry again for absence. Just getting my butt kicked by work lately. Starting to have stomach pains from the stress which is definitely a good sign.

Jahn does have draconic heritage (though it's not obvious to an onlooker, because it was likely a distant ancestor).

I feel like I need to make a geography roll just so I might know the names of some towns in Ferolia and BS my way through more conversations.

    knowledge geography: (1d20+5)[7]

Welp. I'm just going to completely make up names if I have to.

So sorry to hear, Aegis! Work's also been more intense than usual, but I'll get caught up (both on the game and work) this weekend.

@Aegis: No worries the sense motive was a rather fast demand, because I was sure I had everything what I needed for interactions and didn't wanted to get sucked up by the weekend as usual... What definitely happened.

I try to get another IC post up, let's see if it works.

    Spoiler: Larimar
    Show
Well with that roll you definitely do know that there is Mintos and some sort of main capital. You're sure that they are other towns but the only towns you can name succesfully is sadly Mintos.
