I'm just gonna assume that the ride is with all of you. If there is a back and forth trip. That's gonna happen with no issue.

When everyone is seated on Coney she gallops forth, her wings pressed on her body and takes a jump over the pit.

Her wings flap uncontrolled and there seems no way to make them do everything correct… But then a part of her gryphon brain seemingly activates and she begins to glide. Then she pumps her wings which feels like a bucking horse for everyone who is on her. But you're all able to hold on to some part that seemingly isn't necesarry for flying. It's a bit of a harrowing ride but at last you're over the pit. You're estimate that it's longer than 300 feet (but not by much) and when you land it seems that the temple complex just continues. You see the familiar bricks on the ground and on the wall but they seem to have lost color. Larimar's warm silver light reveals a door that's unhinged (and open) it had a mural of sorts once but it seems to have been scratched out thoroughly.

    Spoiler: Coney
    Show
When Coney takes a look into the room, she sees a big Hydra Skeleton (9 heads) sitting before a grand altar. It even has some steps that lead to something… Black with yellow dots, it can't be Darkness because Naberus would let her see through that.

    Don't be shy! Come in!

Says a voice when everyone is before the door, coming out of that room.

When Larimar struts forth his light shines on a mass of heads and attached bones. It's almost seems like they are all somehow connected. The room has 6 fire bowls (3 on each side) who are unlit. There is a kind of shrine which stairs leading up to it and on the top there seems to be… A black congealing mass with yellow dots (eyes?) sprinkled all over it.

It's hard to pin down where the voice actually comes from. It could be from the black mass, or the bones. Or even from behind one of the bowls.

On the griffon they go and then go down at alarming speeds. Picking up speed, you see. Nothing to worry about. All as planned. Thaum certainly will not say anything to the contrary, regardless of his insight into temporarily griffony rabites' minds.

Getting off of Coney and stepping closer to the rest of the temple, Thaum looks... unwell. An after-effect of the ride, perhaps, but no, it seems more than that. Like he is uncomfortable in his skin, which looks paler than usual (the same going for the color of his hair, the light in his eyes having dimmed as well).

They are called inside so... in they go? Thaum looks to the mass, and the bones.

"Hello. We have heard of people outside having dreams of being chewed on in darkness. And there is a rather disconcerting pit on the way here. And for a temple of water, it feels like Undine's mana is being pushed away with all might. Would you happen to know about any of this?" He does his best to maintain proper form.

Larimar had thought he'd seen everything by now. Well he sure as hell was wrong as he was looking face to face to face to face etc with the writhing mass of seletons and bones and looking at a black blob with yellow eyes.

A part of him just wanted to say, 'who in the **** are you?' but he managed to refrain from that and let Thaum do the talking before they inevitably all died horribly. Larimar may not be the sharpest arrow in the quiver, but this really looked like Evil with a capital E.

Coney is elated that her first flight - with four passengers, no less - has gone remarkably well, and she looks forward to the next opportunity to do something like this again. She nods at Jahn's kind words. But for now, she regretfully changes back into her usual rabite form, and tucks the wand away for safekeeping, then gathers up the cords and returns them to Thaum.

Inside, she is deeply unsettled by the presence of such a large predator - even in skeleton form. Hundreds of generations of herbivore screamed at her to get away from anything with that many mouths. She steps through the doorway, but then quickly hops off to the left, hugging the back wall in order to keep a safe distance from those nine snapping heads.

"Indeed. It would be a great honour to meet anyone with the vision and power to work their will on such a scale. I mean, to create such an awe-inspiring space as your, well, your front porch, so to speak. And then the grandeur of this structure! The majesty of such a guardian! And the alluring mystery of a hidden speaker. It's very alluring. Bravo!"

Thaum's words seem to produce a heavy, almost graspable silence. Then the voice speaks again. When it does it seems that the sceletal heads seem to shift and weave a tiny bit. Some stonedust trickles down from the ceiling.

    Oh, you're here about that.

The mass at the top of the altar seems to shift and more yellow dots appear and disappear rapidly. The voice seems almost bubbly when it speaks again.

It seems in that case I have too...

But Coney's words seem to cool the entity of somewhat… But it seems it's now on edge, a strange strain on the voice that all of you can hear. The sceletons stopped moving but the black mass seems to be agitated.

It seems… You do know some manners. Thank you. Though it wasn't my power alone that shaped my front door and my guardians. Though it had been so long… So long. Shall I share my vision with you, as I did 30 days ago? He shared my plans, perhaps you do too?

Coney 'wanders' in, mostly trying to put some distance between herself and the others, in case the hydra activates. She tries to get a sense of how recent the erasure of the work on the walls is - whether the edges still look fresh, or if they too have faded.

The black mass bubbles again and it seems like one of the yellow-eye-like things swells and with a sickening "pop" it sprays more yellow dots on the whirling black mass. In that moment your minds are flooded with pictures and... Instructions?

You see a figure like Thaum. A fair blue-haired maiden praying at exactly this shrine, the bricks are in a vibrant but pleasant blue and the fire-cups are burning with a calming blue fire. She disappears and strange figures emerge, that you can't discern... But leave the seed of the Thing before you... But they got defeated. After that the shrine loses it's color and the black thing emerges from the shrine devouring all the energy's that can be found here. Growing in power and might. Retrieving the sceleton of a mighty beast that was once slayed here.

And after devouring the rests of power that was on this shrine, it wants to eat even more. You're suddenly flooded with the knowledge how to refine shadebloom. And giving it to the thing that it can get away from here and eat from even more shrines. Though you don't feel any pull to do that.

It's hard to sort through to the memories and discern which is yours and which belongs to the thing.

You... You too... Don't want to feed me! I just eat you!

The big sceletal hydra seems to collect it's heads and actually stand up! And one of it's heads snap at Ken!

You hear movement behind you, from the pit. The flickering of flames and the rushing of water. Though nothing seems to emerge from it right know.

Sadly Jahn is stunned for one round. Should the stun be removed somehow he can still act. And yes should you want to refine Shadebloom yourself you just need to get an alchemy set, 200 gold of miscallenous materials and can then press it into a shadowcoin that does 5d4 negative energy damage. You're pretty sure you could do even more with it but you would need to research further. The battle begins now and it's your turn.

The plan is revealed, this creature wanting to feed on mana and the man they were looking for presumably wanting to spread what is happening here. Why do ever more villains crop up at the same time? Is there a secret evil championship going on? Are they getting close to the deadline and they have been slacking for 20 years because "oh I have so much time left" while eating Shade-O's and drinking Thanabrews, and are now in dire need of some evil deeds to submit, and pronto, so they can enter the championship? And now the skeleton starts attacking as well!

Thaum more or less expected the latter, but starting to weave reinforcing spells tends to make future opponents aggressive sooner (as it is about as subtle as drawing swords during peace talks). Having to weigh Jahn looking like he can't move, Ken being attacked, Coney being far away from the group, movement from the pit behind them, and braziers now radiating foul draining cold, Thaum has a laundry list of things to get to. The braziers and the cold fire are perhaps the biggest ongoing issue for the entire group, and while he can't do much about the foul part of it, the cold can very much be dealt with. Spreading his arms, a brief mist sprinkles onto the party, imbuing them with comfortable warmth against the cold (with Coney sadly being too far away to benefit).

As the already disappearing mist infuses the party, Thaum quickly sends a weakly glowing droplet to Ken as a massive jaw snaps at him, immediately washing away all wounds and leaving him bolstered against further injury.

    Spoiler: Actions
    Show
I am not seeing what braziers are lit and where the wall is, so that makes taking Thaum's action very much guesswork. I also have no idea what "The wall brings his fire outside." is supposed to mean.

Assuming it is the two braziers closest to the entrance, because that would be the most effective thing to do.

Can't cure Jahn from the stun, too many buffs that need to be applied to the group. Watching Coney move away from the group before the start of the fight had me going "oh no".

Standard mass resist energy (cold) on everyone but Coney, because Coney is way too far away and no target must be further apart than 30ft. Everyone affected gets resist cold 20.

Ouch! Ken's pain is brief as Thaum's magic soon heals him. "Thanks Thaum!"

Assessing the situation as best he can, Ken can only guess what the hydra might be capable of, but it's certain to be very dangerous.

He steps back far enough that he should be able to safely cast a spell out of the monster's reach, and casts Rain of Spines. A hail of metallic-looking needles pierces the hydra and the air above it.

A DC 20 grapple check or Escape Artist check allows it to break free and end the secondary effect. It could probably break free easily but that should take an action.

    Coney

The rabite takes a quick step away from the swiftly forming icefire wall, and stares, mesmerized, at the great beast rising up before them. She watches first Ken and then Jahn act, Larimar scurry to a better position, and Thaum blanket his companions with protect. Somehow, through her predator-fear, she manages to call out to her companions.

"I'm going to try to drive it off. Uh. Wish me luck?"

She thinks of holding up her amulet forcefully against the skeleton, but thinks better of it - there were enough ancient horrors at this dance already. Insteady, she seeks to combine all of her devotion to Mana with her newfound friendship with Tanebrous into a burst of holy-ish energy that she directs at the hydra.

Larimar took a bite from the undead hydra and grimaced a bit, though he'd honestly been worse off than this.

Part of the reason he ran here was for a better shot, and he heard stuff coming behind them. Lucky for him, because his allies just got pummeled and affected by some spell. But overall, this wasn't good...

Looking down at his bow, which was now flaming, he almost raised it to start shooting at the hydra but.. no, that wasn't really a good idea, was it? The arrows probably weren't going to do much, except for maybe this flame stuff.. maybe.. but they needed to nip this thing in the bud. And.. the bud happened to be sitting atop that altar.

    Then, Larimar got an idea.

He dashed up to the blue flame wall and it seemed he was about to leap through it. Instead, he instantly appeared on the other side! Then kept going a bit and turned to start scaling the side of the rise leading up to the altar.

    Coney

The rabite is intrigued and troubled by the reaction of...something in there...to her use of Naberius' peculiar talent. But for now, she had to turn her attention to the matter at hand. Or rather, heads.

Since the battle in Rabiton, she has been learning how to marshal her fire more carefully, for a more intense explosion, and it seemed that this was an ideal opportunity to try that out. Aiming for a spot just on this side of the coldfire wall, where the bony hydra coiled, Coney let loose with her most powerful fireball to date.

Full round action: Coney is making use of her Easy Metamagic and Empower spell to cast an empowered Fireball, centred on K12 and 10' up, so that even if one of her colleagues steps up adjacent to the hydra, they'll be outside of the blast. Reflex DC 19 for half on (9d6)[31] x 1.5 or 46 fire damage.

Larimar's action is succesfull though he get's "burnt" when he comes especially close to the wall of cold fire. Though when he arrives by the other side he almost can't feel it anymore, because of it's strange magical properties.

When I understand the wall of Fire correctly you get damaged by it once per turn with her highest possible damage potential, because you get within 10 feet you do get (2d4)[3] half cold, half negative energy damage (so you can half this.)

Coney's mighty fireball explodes within the bone hydra and almost sweeps away the wall of cold fire, but both the wall and the hydra still remain, though the later looks heavily burned and almost seem like they will collapse at the next moment. The weird black gooey thing has no time to look after the small chobin and is more afraid of the fire that was way too close for him.

Any plans of trying to stop the elementals from entering the room go out of the proverbial window when the world around Thaum explodes in deafening noise and Ken is savaged by the skeleton. A quick estimation through bones and fellfire rules out reaching Larimar with his spells at this time. Thus, all Thaum can do at this point, judging by how bad a state Coney's fireball left the hydra in, is push further into the room and hope for the best. Navigating the treacherous floor, the healer ends up right next to the undead monstrosity. The lack of Undine's mana remains sickening, but he is hardly cut off from his source of power. Not with the massive reservoir inside of him. Raising his shield against the hydra, weak flickering blue light first is seen suffusing Thaum, straining against the ambient lack of mana, a weak and indistinct illusory shape above Thaum's shoulder.

There is more strain involved than he imagined. Deep breath, concentrating on collecting water mana in his hand from his own body. There is no time. With an additional push, Thaum practically rams more energy into the spell, creating shining blue orb of water, the indistinct shape for a little moment clearly taking the shape of Undine. Throwing his arm wide, a sudden flood of ephemeral water bursts forth, wiping away wounds, tearing at the undead essence of the skeleton, and splashing against the cold wall of fell fire.

OOC: This assumes the hydra has been taken down. If not, Ken will attack it.

Ken grins as impressive displays of magic by Coney and Thaum seems to turn the battle around, and the ogre-slayer adds dead-hydra-slaying to his list of accomplishments.

So much for trying to keep the elementals out, as the water elemental simply sweeps through the wall. A quick assessment of the situation reveals that there really is not a position he could move to without risk of being engaged by any of the elementals, with the water elemental moving through objects and now being in an ideal position to rush into the group's flank or even pincer it, the earth elemental most likely being able to burrow through walls and ground, and there being no telling whether the fire elemental might also have difficult to contain modes of movement. There is also a straight line over to Coney from the water elemental. To top things off, Thaum recognizes the dark fire elemental's flames with a certain degree of alarm. He can practically feel a vile quality to its heat, moreso than that of the wall's fell fire. It is better if none of them get hit by it at all.

From one moment to the next, Thaum disappears in a blink, reappearing further behind Jahn and Ken, to elude the danger of the fire elemental. This hardly puts him out of danger, even putting him right into the heat of the wall of fire. But it is not supposed to keep him safe. It is supposed to put him into range of all his allies. And into the water elemental's way.

Gathering energy, shielding himself from the fire elemental, Thaum disperses ephemeral droplets far and wide, even beyond the cold wall of fire. "Take heart!" The shower of droplets suffuses his allies, the distinct feeling of fortune being on their side, guiding their hands (or ears) and averting harm.

"Larimar! Shout when you need help!" Thaum calls out. The hydra may be gone, but there is still the 20ft high opague wall of cold, foul fire, preventing him from seeing what is happening on the other side. Needless to say, Thaum is ready to make his way through the wall, in whatever way necessary.

Coney wasn't sure how useful her blinding magics would be against creatures that don't seem to have obvious eyes, but she was sure that water creatures didn't like fire. Perhaps she could weaken this new opponent, and take another shot at bringing down the wall.

Fortunately, the weird fire elemental's attack is deflected by Ken's armor.
