Monster Boon Campaign death world(IC)
In mountain, untouched by the "righteous" races there lies a cave. The heavy foot traffic stamped into the ground belies its inhabitants. Following the path beaten into the cave floor leads to a subterranean fortress, its opening sized for giants. Just inside is a line of creatures, wild or evil all in a line behaving quite orderly for their lot. At the start of the line is a thrown, though the being sitting upon it is much smaller than the stone chair could lodge.
A spindly creature with no discernible face tries to make its case for a boon from the overlord of the throne. The overlord looks bored and raises an arm out towards the strange aberration growing many times its original size slamming down with a splat. The arm returns to its original size and and position.
Next in the line are a quadruplet of floating tentacle beaked creatures. They begin bragging about *gaining trade routes in a town named Cape Orbach." One of them carries a sack of what could be melons, with red fluid tripping out the bottom. The overlord seems bored, raises his arm towards the leviating green 3 eyed creatures and in a Booming voice, Your Human forms will mimic those that you eat. The Malaugryms looked at each other and then towards the bag, bowing to the overlord they take thier leave, snacking on the contents of the bag.

Re: Monster Boon Campaign death world(IC)
Stepping forwards next is Jezzail, dragging a crate. Clad from top to toe in a mishmash of wires, leather, iron, mithral and other assorted metals. A large gun mounted on a pavise slung across his back, his hands draped in gauntlets that spark with eerie green light he slowly walks forwards as electricity occasionally jump from his limbs and torso. Putting down the crate he carefully lifts off the lid revealing rows of glaives and short swords packed in hay.
"Glaives and swords, enough to arm fifty man. Made by me and my apprentice, we wish to make greater wonders, but iron is limiting. If you see fit to grant us a boon of where we can find more exotic metals we will endeavor to make for you a weapon you desire."

Re: Monster Boon Campaign death world(IC)
The overlord perks up at this. Excuse me one moment.
The procession of trophies will be Halted for a moment.
The overlord hops down from his over sized throne. Which causes that back to snap forward on to the seat. Walking up to you, You must be new here, its been awhile since i have had to explain this. So as the overlord I grant boons upon individuals that bring trophies or tributes worthy of recieving acknowledgment at my whim. I do not fight anymore unless someone challenges me for the seat of the overlord.
Their isn't much i can do to help you with your request, but i can give you a map to the territories of a metal master, rust monster, and lodestar marauder. You should try to bargain with them with your weapons for their services to fine veins they can not capitalize on themselves. draws up a map with an "M", "R", and "L". Handing this to you he proceeds back to the throne. Placing his hand on it causes the back to flip back up and he hops back into the seat.
You are next.

Re: Monster Boon Campaign death world(IC)
Shogg scowls at Jezzail, who had taken the credit for the glaives that they'd both worked on, but there would be time enough to address later with his teacher. 'Your eminence, I and my business partner' he directs a glare at Jezzail-'present the maps of 11 human villages with the graves of eachperson slain, totaling 251 adults and 287 children. They await reanimation at your leisure...and here are official-looking documents to make them...legal to use as you see fit.' He hands over the 11 maps, including 7 (forged) documents, content that his work should also be pleasing to the overlord.

Shogg does his best to think quickly. He squashes his mouth's expression and then says, 'Limited means, your eminince, but I do. If given a better means to, hm...summon monsters, I could raise an army of undead crushing more foes...but it would not be controlled for long. It would show chaos about the countryside.'

Re: Monster Boon Campaign death world(IC)
Shogg hurried past the press of others vying for their chance of boons and slows when he reaches his Ratling companion. He remains silent as they exit the cave, and only speaks when he has out more than ample distance from the strange ruler. 'Pitiful hamster, passing on a chance like that. I slaughter two handfulls of village-folk, prime them, and get less than the grym who present six heads. He will one day rue the mistake of this failure. If I had my way, he would festoon in a pit of filth for all eternity. That's twice we've been so slighted.'
He continues his rant until the anger subsides to a cold boil, the way it normally should be. ' I'll start my summons for when we . I know twelve Abishai that owe me favors and help start our undead army. We could set them towards Jaulam to the SouthWest. They have only a few inexperienced clerics, and we could amass a force of sixty undead walkers by tomorrow's end. That hamster will soil its throne by the week's end.
...how does that sound, Jezzail?Last edited by ~Corvus~; 2019-12-15 at 04:18 PM.

Re: Monster Boon Campaign death world(IC)
Calmly dragging the crate behind him, Jezzail, listens to his companion rage. As he winds down to the low simmer of restrained anger and hatred, the ratling looks at him, his confusion and intonation hidden by the heavy gasmask he insists on wearing everywhere 'for safety':
"Ah, but we have a job to do Shogg, the overlord entrusted us with the enslavement, eradication and replacement or vasalising of the metal master, rust monster and lodestar marauders located in these locations. He holds up the map for the demon to see before continuing: We need more metal for the undead legions too, if I remember correctly?"

Re: Monster Boon Campaign death world(IC)
It is a human who needs opals, not metal, to summon undead, as their hearts are too weak.
He looks over the map. 'The rust monsters are close to the ruins of Tryss. Their bodies are several weeks gone, the bodies not fresh, but we can take 30 walkers with us and let them into the caverns first. They can distract the rust monsters a bit, and the Abishai will lend their claws. Our metals will be no use here.'

"Not for making them, for arming them."
Apparently lost in thought for a second he continues:
"How do you control the walkers, I would prefer not to go anywhere near rust monsters, my equipment is mostly steel."

'The Abishai control them, for as long as they're there...maybe 5 minutes? It's long enough to lead them into the caves, where we bring them to the monsters. And then we shoot the monsters. It shouldn't be too hard.'

Nodding to the demon the engineer responds: 'The undead are hungry for our flesh, no? Seems troublesome or at least dangerous. So you want the rustmonsters dead first? Could we not employ one of the other groups to take over for us?"

Missing the irony of his statement, Shogg says, "We do it ourselves. Relying on others is to admit our weakness. He gave us a job, and we'll do it together. C'mon, let's walk to the village." With this, he travels SouthWest for Jaulam

The demon nods. "Certainly seems fine... There's a few towns up ahead, so you can go recruit some willing participants. Perhaps easier to control than undead. Well, fine. I'll wear my large coat, watch for wary townsfolk and await the conclusion of business. He waits for the inevitable rebuttal from Jezzail. Hey, it's your idea not mine.

"I feel like we should refrain, but I just can't quite put my finger on it. Ah, let's go say hi to the natives, some fresh-off-the-boat newbies to blood will do us good. Or at least be amusing when they inevitably do something dumb and get hurt." With the decision taken Jezzail laughs at the imagery of stumbling idiots with sword. Unfortunately the sound comes out garbled and horrible due to the mask he wears. On the way to the first town he tells the story of his first meeting with a group of heavily armored and untrained 'knights' falling over themselves due to a spilled barrel of grease, even showing a crude drawing he made of the event.

Re: Monster Boon Campaign death world(IC)
Shogg had nodded appreciatively, a grin playing about his green face as he sees the drawing of the chaotic street scene. "Incredible, the folly of men! Who were they trying to catch," he had asked. "A halfling, you don't say? Let's make sure not to recruit any of them! Don't want them getting away, right?"

"We are not trying to get them killed, no? Maybe employ for all three places, backstabbing seems not worth it in the long run."
Waiting for the response before walking into Ballas, Jezzail heads towards the first, the best, seedy tavern sure to be full of down-on-their-luck or new adventurers. Still dragging the crate with weapons he cuts a strange figure.

Re: Monster Boon Campaign death world(IC)
Just off the docks Jezzail finds what he is looking for, as in most port towns the best, seediest tavern is adjacent to to the docks. The weathered sign appears to name the establishment naaas pussvwiilov inr.
A large bearded man, sporting 1 tusk and many scars leaving the establishment or would if his peg leg didn't fall into a knot hole of the plank just as he was about to leave the length of swung door. He staggers from sudden halt to his momentum, his frustration is visible even from this distance. Has he struggles, it seems as if this a common occurrence for him. Other patrons come and go through this ensnared door stop, seemly paying him no heed.

Stepping up to the man, Jezzail offers him a hand and a few words:
"Your leg, inefficient, no? Can make new one if you help, going to recruit, follow if want."
With that said he steps into the tavern and looks around for a to find some helpers.

Re: Monster Boon Campaign death world(IC)
The man takes his offered hand, with a squeak freeing his peg. Thanks stranger, my name is Borg. Unfortunately this is my leg now, its made from the enemy axe handle that took my leg. For after I took my vengeance he won't need it anymore. Most of the people here wouldn't work with me so good luck. Borg heads to a boat at the far end of the docks.
Inside of the inn, a bar on the left likely with a kitchen behind the wall of bottles. The far wall by the bar has a little stage where a minstrels are playing a harp, flute, and a fractal metal shield like drum. Next to the stage along the far wall are quest requests posted. The rest of the room is scattered with round tables and chairs, a stair case by ghe door likely lead up to where the guests sleep.

Re: Monster Boon Campaign death world(IC)
Shogg has delayed his approach into town to continue the work with his duster, a charcoal-colored and full-body coat made of sailcloth. He's made certain that he can contain his "lower" arms within its main bulk, and had previously ripped the right-hand sleeve of the coat to accommodate his shorter, more-withered right-hand arm. He cuts off the loose threads, double-folds the sleeve (to hide the thread) and with needle and twine, he sews the sleeve curl to secure it, muttering as he does the work about the inconvenience of human-land travel.
Spoiler: Craft Check(1d20+2)[10] looking for a 5 or better.
Finally finished, he dons the duster and shoulders the water-resistant bag in which he holds his unstrung bows and wanders to the docks; he avoids the taverns for now, preferring a cool climate. A peg-legged loner lopes about his boat, dolefully doing the duties of preparing for his journey. Shogg looks about the docks for anyone that seem to be bored or unloading.

Shrugging and continuing towards the inn, the engineer walks into the inn and straight up to the bar, Jezzail looks around for a barkeep and waves the first one to appear down with his non-mechanical arm:
"I'm looking for some able bodied men to help safeguard a mining expedition, you know where I can find, yes-yes?"

Re: Monster Boon Campaign death world(IC)
As the peg legged man walks from the inn someone whistles and all the crew top side head below deck. The peg legged man gets abroad a shabby craft, a large man with a malletlike prosthetic hand waves at him. A half elf with an eye patch walks by on the deck.
The old bar keep comes back from the kitchen, Oh I thought it was a customer, you should talk to the mining guild. For 2 silver you can put up a request here on the board. If you excuse me i have remove the stool that filthy half breed used. He walks around the bar and grabs the stool by a bar between the legs and carries it to the back bring out another identical stool and placing it where the previous one was taken from. Returning behind the bar he grabs a rag and cleans the counter next to the "new" stool.Last edited by WarHunter; 2020-01-07 at 02:11 AM.

Re: Monster Boon Campaign death world(IC)
Shogg wanders from the docks, bemused at the lack of activity in the town. The salt of the sea was calming, an alien feeling to the demon's acceptance of the terrible life in the battlefields of the Abyss. Even beneath the warm cloth his tough skin prickled; this felt normal and so eased his mind. He payed little attention to the few cart-drivers still going about business in the dusk. Instead, he wandered about the streets, looking for an alleyway, the darker and more dangerous-looking the better.
His natural Darkvision made the murky depths of the city turn into a black-and-white scene that revealed many hidden secrets. Rats and critters hid around pallets and barrels behind shops, and he missed very little. But he was really looking for trouble of the humanoid variety. If possible, he will wait for someone to approach him.

Shogg continues towards the men unhurriedly, hoping their assault make his approach less noticeable.
Spoiler: Move Silently
(1d20+5)[22] Consider they'd have a penalty to their spot checks.
His approach is very silent, and his deft steps avoid a small puddle of water and a few rusty nails. He angles his body to reveal only his smaller and withered arm. He stops when he's roughly 35 feet away, leans against a wall, and begin to run the fingernails of his sorter arm's hand through his teeth in an imitation of a man with little to do.
He keeps his face passive and looks down, as if bored but not sad. When the beating has nearly finished--or if he's noticed--he speaks into the minds of each person using his Telepathy. Just the kind of folk I hoped to find. I'd like to hire your help for an unusual acquisition, and I promise any material loot we find is yours. If you'd like to learn more, meet me outside the northern gates, at dawn tomorrow. Wear leather, and take wooden spears or clubs and wooden shields; no metal weapons or armor.
Spoiler: ContingenciesIf they seem hostile or willing to attack him, he'll simply summon (1d3)[1] sea vipers to give himself distance and time to walk to ; he'll unsummon them if they don't give further chase.Last edited by ~Corvus~; 2020-01-07 at 11:26 PM. Reason: Added for such an excellent Hide
