Scenario wise seems like the pole. Bugbear has similar equipment as Oona. It is possible that one of them hit Kraagor's rift without really knowing what it was.
Being a dead dwarf in Valhalla, it may be possible that there is some intel she can pass Durkon (long shot, but still)
The Bugbear may have strong issues with Oona helping RC and Xykon, especially considering how the Lych tends to send his underlings to a pointless, yet funny death, and decides to help the order.

Hell, he may even guide Durkon and Minrah to safety from Team Evil in the very next strip!

It can't be the dwarf, because she appears in 14 online strips under the name High Priestess Rubyrock according to the Wrecan thread. The other appearances are between 997 and 1179, and include sitting in a back row of the temple when Durkon graduated to a priest.

High Priestess Rubyrock is (surprise!) the priestess with red hair, not the dwarf killed by the bugbear.

At worst, it would prove Durkon isn't good at that, not dwarves in general. And it doesn't prove that any more than it proves that his mom is bad at listening to descriptions. More accurately, that strip shows that small glimpses of momentary behavior is not a good indicator at personality.

Yeah, there’s no hint that Durkon ever told his mother what Roy or Elan looked like. I mean, what would be the point?

Edit: To clarify, I’m agreeing with you. Durkon clearly described Elan’s (and presumably Roy’s) personality to his mom; there’s no reason to believe that he also told her what they looked like.

I’m not sure we even know that for sure, although it does seem likely that Sigdi mentioned their race. Race seems to be a major identifying characteristic in the OOTSverse.

I think their race is probably more like where someone grew up. I might mention to my mom over the phone that my friend's from Texas, but will almost certainly never have a reason to mention that he's got brown hair or blue eyes.
