Re: DDI to be shut off at the end of 2019
Of course I discover this after assuming that things are ongoing after getting a message that my subscription is ongoing during December 23, when the thing is going.
will send e-mail ASAP

Re: DDI to be shut off at the end of 2019
I've sent out more links in the past four days than I sent out in all of December.
Good to see 4E getting some love! :)Cheers

Re: DDI to be shut off at the end of 2019
I got an email today from Paypal notifying me that Digital River Ireland reimbursed me for some costs. I immediately knew what this meant and went straight to the forum to check.
It's weird to think that the 4e tools are now gone. I haven't really used them in years (apart from a few oneshots and a campaign that went nowhere), but I kept paying for the service because I liked the idea of having access whenever I needed it. I'm glad I still own most of the books and I'm sure I have the offline tools somewhere. Things won't be the same tho. I've spent countless hours on those tools and I've been praising them to my new players ever since D&D Beyond launched.
Was anyone here still playing 4e and now inconvenienced by the removal of these online tools? Are the offline tools a worthwile replacement for the online tools. I remember having them but I never used them because I had the online tools.

Re: DDI to be shut off at the end of 2019
As soon as Mike Mearls said that the 4E tools would be continued, I made arrangements to get the offline tools simply because I know MM is never right about anything.
Are they a worthwhile replacement? I've been using them for five years and they are more than worthwhile. I don't have to worry about reliable internet access. I can store more than 50 (or was it 100) custom monsters. There is a lot more customisation available for the character sheet.
And I don't have to worry about WotC turning them off.
So, yes, they are more than a worthwhile replacement. I send out links roughly 200 times a year. Of course, in the past week I have sent out links more than 30 times. Email me if you want them.Cheers

Re: DDI to be shut off at the end of 2019
Very sad news indeed.
It was bound to happen eventually, however. Had 4E come out more recently, I imagine the online tools would have been built in anything but Silverlight.

BTW, there is a pretty active 4e Discord server that includes links to a number of offline tools- Discord Link

You are not alone.
The 3E archives got taken down during the hiatus.

Re: DDI to be shut off at the end of 2019
Almost all of that is available in various troves that are available for browsing.
But, of course, the point of this thread is to remind people to PM or email me if they want links to the 4E tools. If the reply I send just happens to have links to other things, that's just a happy coincidence, right? ;)Cheers

Re: DDI to be shut off at the end of 2019
3e web articles (the item that got pulled) are distinct from the actual game books, that are still up for sale by the copyright owner in digital format. (Both 3e and 4e.)

Re: DDI to be shut off at the end of 2019
It seems that with the support for 4e dead on multiple fronts, those of us that still enjoy and want to play 4e will have to find other ways to keep it alive.
Anyone know of some sites that might support this idea?
