Was panel 326 a spoiler?

I really don't know if this ever came up, but in strip 326 there was a young goblin getting old and telling his story.

According to Races of Faerun, "Goblinoids are pressed into service as adults at just 10 years of age" and "they rarely live to be older than 40".
Even if that goblin were 15 when young and 30 when old, it would mean 15 years have passed.

Since 15 years are a lot more than what I would expect it needs for the current events to unfold, it might mean that the world will indeed be saved.

To be fair, we don't know that's its the same world. Perhaps the world is destroyed but a large portion of the population is evacuated to the planet in the rift, for example.

But I guess we do know that some goblins survive.

You speak as a wise man speaks, Master Baggins, but I'm not sure that line of work was quite as tough as that.

Rich explicitly notes in the WXP commentary that Elan's "happy ending" prophecy was specifically meant as a way to tell readers "don't worry, folks, it might get a little scary but it'll all be okay" in light of how several other prophecies were extremely ominous. It's not impossible that Goblin Dan may have been meant to serve a similar purpose.

Yeah, there is also Oracle prophecy that suppose go camu up few years later.

Well, it's a spoiler that the world doesn't explode, which... yeah? I mean, it's a story, I doubt very much if it's gonna end with the Snarl killing everyone.

But even if the story WERE to end that way, Goblin Dan is a one-off (two-off!) joke meant to make you laugh, not necessarily be taken seriously by the narrative.
