What happened is the Rucks delved too greedily and too deep. You know what they awoke in the darkness of War-and-XPs.

Elan swings down to heal Roy, on the first readings I didn't notice that he did so with a "high-three", since of course the OotS is drawn with only three fingers.

    Indeed.

Brown is just dark orange, and orange is just light brown, and of course given the dynamic range of human vision light and dark is relative and depends heavily on the surroundings.

It's not. Mimics have proper eyes. And Serini only uses them as furniture when she's short on actual furniture (which she wouldn't be in the case of pillows since no one else is using one at the moment).

It's just the print* left by the weight of her head.

In the 5th panel of 1020, you can see Bloodfeast fighting the rats as well.

Honestly, there's a good chance that Bloodfeast might have been able to kill all the rats on his own even without the scroll explosion, since he'd still have the BAB, feats, and hit dice of his original form. Mr. Scruffy and maybe even Little Whiskers probably would have died though. His wounds in the next strip don't even seem that severe.

Yup, he probably tanked that exploding scroll like a little red Chick Norris, not even bothering to dive for cover. Go Bloodfeast!

There's no burn marks on him, so maybe he just wasn't in range. Though he definitely would have survived it anyways.

The exploding scroll effect may have been houseruled so that Blackwing avoided it with either his improved evasion or spell resistance.

Well, I think even max damage wouldn't have killed Bloodfeast, so that part's probably irrelevant in the grand scheme of things.

After reading the following bit of commentary from War and XPs:

    Spoiler
    Show
This section also contains the first hint that O-Chul isn’t just another disposable paladin—that he has an important part to play in this story. There is a clue as to his role hidden in one of the strips during the war, but I leave it as an exercise for the reader to find.

I realized that paralyzed O-Chul was able to hear Soon talking about Xykon's phylactery in this strip, which is how he later knew about the phylactery during the Darth V sequence. In fact the first thing he tried to do after getting hold of it was to smash it.
I now await someone to tell me that I'm wrong and that's not at all the clue that Rich was referring to.

I find this very unlikely. Miko would hear the conversation too if that was the case.

Also, by the time Soon said that Miko was probably still closer to the entrance than to the throne. Maybe she was actually farther away than O-Chul.

I think much of the point of Miko's destruction of the Gate is that if she had been paying attention and listening to what the founder of her order was saying instead of thinking "now I know what the Twelve Gods want me to do!" she would have realized that actually destroying Xykon, doing what Roy Greenhilt had failed to do, establishing once and for all that she was the most effective living paladin of the Sapphire Guard whether she was technically a paladin at the time or not, and claiming the status of true heroine of the comic, were all within her grasp.

"You have fulfilled your oath to defend this one Gate...technically." (But someone with the exact same stats as you who was a better person could have done so much more.)

Yup, she was "the first human to enter the room". I never considered that. She believed the gods still had a role for her, that they had facilitated her escape from jail... and who knows, maybe it was delusion, maybe they gave her the chance to end Xykon, once and for all. Anyway, she did have that chance, and she blew it, together with the gate she was sworn to defend and much of the city she served, after killing her leader and liege. KO.
