    Default Pathfinder Horsemen of the Apocalypse take 2

    This is a request for a DM and a couple players for a game based on the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse. The previous attempt suffered from holiday attrition.

    This game will come with 2 players, whom have already spoken for War and Pestilence. Thus we are looking for a DM and players for Death and Famine. We would prefer the system be 3.P and higher level (15+), single classes or stalt of some sort (I suspect they will be easier to build in stalt form). We are also more than happy to help with adventure ideas if the need arises.

    A couple of game ideas we had, and these are by no means exclusive, are as follows:

    1.) That there is a 5th horseman, one who was thrown out for some reason and has now gone rogue. We need to stop him.

    2.) Another idea was to roughly follow the darksiders game themes with the horsemen being betrayed by some higher power and having to fight against that.

    Re:1 Technically there is a 5th Horseman, Hell that follows them.

    Posting interest. Have you considered an option if gestalt where we all agree to pick something that gives us a mouth on one side (paladin/antipaladin, cavalier, summoner) and the other side is whatever we want?

    Also, how do you feel about using mythic rules?

    I always kind of considered the Hell that follows as more of a status rather than a specific horseman.

    The gestalt option and the mythic rules would be up to the prospective DM. I'm not familiar with the mythic stuff and would rather we not use it, but I also wouldn't consider that my call.

    Most any of the game parameters set out would be up for change, I'd prefer to keep it higher level but am adaptable to most anything else.

    I'd be interested as a player. I have an idea for Death as a Wizard, which will work just fine under core Pathfinder rules (at mid-high levels) with 3rd party and/or Gestalt being a bonus on top of it (i.e. letting him gish it up with a Scythe rather than being a pure caster).

    Would also like to contend for famine, and

    even though I have some cool Ideas im afraid that 15 lvl and possibly stalt is way more than I can handle...If someone would be willing to help me with mechanichal advice and that sort of stuff I MIGHT gm even though I still need to figure out a premise, but I am still tossing my hat in as a player though

    EDIT-
    If I do end up running this, expect something more similar tp the horseman from good omens than anything else...(perhas that might be the mission - delivering the world ender to the hellish temple from which the world ending buisness will start, but its butied somewhere under a city of goodie two shoes paladins and stuff

    It doesn't have to be stalt. All we would need is a single +2 CR template for a Herald of the Apocalypse. Beyond that, which is mostly for flavour anyway, anything in the higher vicinity would work for me. And I am willing to assist you with mechanical advice in the game if you need it. I am rapidly gaining experience at running higher level games, though I only started DMing about a year ago.

    Definitely willing to help with mechanics as well. Though at this high a level the games are likely going to be mostly role playing rather than raw mechanics.

    When you reference Good Omens are you thinking a modern-ish setting?

    Modern ish could be interesting but probbaly more of a magitech thing if anything


    I was referencing it regarding to the tone of the series/book.- grim and dry humor from time to time, some nonsense thrown in with horrifyingly serious and dark subjects (like the end of the word), with the war between good and evil in a bit more of a cynical view than usual


    Also, in general, the situation of powerful and possibly extraplanar entities interested in the fate of a 10 year old kid

    For me I'm more concerned with sticktoitivness than the actual game concept, lol. It does sound interesting. I think my idea of the 4 being either neutral or actually sort of good and betrayed is probably too far out there for most peoples visions of them.

    Ill post a build soon. Fair warning though - I allow lots of third party, but I might disallow for someone things I allowed for another. Because I know every source can be broken/not broken. Im looking for elegance (not nseecarily simplicity) and without ridiculously high numbers that make the battle into a math test. Studf that are fun and interesting.

    That sounds perfectly fine. I try to work to a similar idea. As for the sticktoitivness, I think that is meant to mean that Lio is most interested in you sticking with the game above other considerations. I could be wrong though. I haven't heard of that expression before either.

    Yep, you got it. I'm excited for the 16. We mentioned the CR+2 template of the horsemen, is that something you are okay with?

    Yeah you can chnage it to recruiting, Ill post a 16 in the next 48 hours.

    About the template...I'd actually prefer stalt, or just giving all of you the ability to summon a mount if you dont get it from a class (with a special boost for those who di invest in an in class/feat bought mount) because I dont want to start messing with possesion and things like that

    Iím certainly up for gestalt but donít forget you can just eliminate portions of the template youíd rather not use.

    A sort of cynical take on the classic "heaven-hell war" story, from the perspective of the four horseman who got an...unusual mission that needs to be done before the war can start. They must escort a 10 year old child to the temple of the unborn death, an ancient and vile place that was buried beneath the city of thousand suns, and now must be rebuilt in the darkness, so the armies of hell could step through the gate that it was built upon

    3. How many Players are you looking for? Will you be taking alternates, and if so, how many?
    4 for the four horseman, might take another 1 or 2 if they can give me a good enough reason for why they are with the horseman (like heralds of some sort, caretakers of the boy, I dont know)

    Don't go crazy with templates and stuff. You are pcs, not GM made enemies. Preferrably something that can ride a mount

    Roll 4d6be, PB 25, elite array, or whatever other legal method

    10. Does your game use alignment? What are your restrictions, if so?
    Officialy yes but I can wave aside restriction if you can convince me to let it go, but you are all probably some variation of evil

    Yes. the only limitation is that the MC should be meaningful. It should be reflected as a part of the character's backstory

    report them?
    Each one makes his own rolls. You can roll in the chat but I trust my players to not cheat, just post what you got after you roll so we would have a clean and easy place to look at everything

    Tell me how you were given the title of a horseman, what training did you go through and what you have already acomplished in the service of the lower planes. The title is passed to those who are worthy of it, with the standards vauge on purpose, to allow for the right horseman to be picked for the right time

    Hack and slash 25%, Intrigue/subterfuge 30%, RP 35%, 10% other stuff

    16. Are your Players restricted to particular rulebooks and supplements, or will you be allowing access to non-standard material? What sources can Players use for their characters?
    Standard pf and 3.5, spheres, PoW and DSP psionics, akashic, and legendary classes. I very rarely alow homebrew but Im pretty lax on homebrew. Might ban some thing if I see they are too broken. My parameter for a good character is someone who can take on challenges, but still have them challenging


    Regarding the mount thing

    you all get for free the ability to summon a mount from the horseman template sent here and all the abilities related to it. If you decide to invest in a mount of your own through spending of feats or class levels youll get some nice boost to it (Ill figure out what later, I am open to ideas)

    Let the questions commence:

    Heaven, do you have Discord? If so would you like me to start a server for this?

    Can we do the rolls then if those suck go with some other method like elite array or PB?

    Can we use the Herald templates with whatever modifications you would like to do? To give an example, scratch the possession stuff, herald's weapon can be called on or off the mount, and anything else you don't like?

    I'd like to try using a barbarian and monk combination but I think the alignment restriction would need to be waived?

    So far I think that is it, lol.

    As posted above, I have an idea for Death. One side of the gestalt will be a Wizard specializing in death spells like Phantasmal Killer. The other will be some kind of martially-oriented type that should hopefully make him pretty good in melee with a scythe.

    Edit: Thinking of Harbinger / Umbral Blade from Path of War for the martial side. Thankfully, the Unquiet Grave discipline has been added to d20pfsrd.
