College. A fresh start! A new life, a new day... But some problems always seem to follow you. Take, for instance, supervillains. They always seem to crop up around, and, well, you've got the powers and skills to deal with them. It'd hardly be right to let them run amok, now would it?

But that does mean your love life has been... Iffy, at best. Maybe you've never even dated, always worried for the safety of others. Maybe you've had a thousand and one relationships, but they just always end poorly. But regardless, it's college now! You can do something to change that!

Please repost all character details, and claim a color.

Xander will, of course, speak in fiery orange.

    Spoiler: Xander Vox
    Show
    Spoiler: Description
    Show
Xander looks pretty much like your stereotypical 'bad guy.' He's a couple of inches over six feet and pretty muscular, with shoulder-length dark hair. He'd probably be fairly good-looking if he took a little more care of his appearance - chiefly the fact that he mostly wears clothes bought from a charity shop, many of which don't quite fit him properly, though it certainly doesn't help that he pretty much permanently goes around with a dark scowl on his face scaring away anyone that tries to befriend him. His most noticeable feature, though, is his eyes - a vibrant ruby red that almost seems to shimmer gold and orange in the light.

His alter ego for when he goes out hero'ing is...not exactly very ornate. He has a frayed leather jacket he wears for the occasion, and uses a motorbike helmet to hide his face. (He does also have a very fancy costume emblazoned with the V logo his family use, which his parents pressed on him in case the urge took him to do something villainous while he was at college, but that's not really the sort of thing he can use to save the day.)

    Spoiler: Background
    Show
Lord Omnis and Sunrose are two of the best-known supervillains out there. Lord Omnis is a powerful technopath and supergenius with dozens of nefarious inventions to his name, while Sunrose is a light-manipulating former hero turned villain with one of the best success records of beating heroes in a fight (yes, there are records. Some people spend their lives tracking this stuff.) It was at least moderately well-known that Omnis and Sunrose had a fling when they were at the height of their villainous careers. It's...less well-known that that fling was a bit more than just a fling, though there were more than a few supervillains who made a covert visit to an unassuming church for the wedding of Damon Vox and Jennifer Maile.

Xander Vox grew up well. His father had made a fortune selling his works of maniacal genius to other villains who needed a doomsday device or five, so Xander, his parents and his older sister Crystal had more or less everything they ever wanted.

Including superpowers, as it turned out. Crystal developed a whole gamut of capabilities - superstrength, flight, etc - and eagerly threw herself into (and often through) the challenges her father set up to hone her potential as a villain.

Xander...well, he got powers too. Pyrokinesis, in his case. But his powers were...pretty obviously not quite to the same level as Crystal's, and as much as his parents tried to treat both children equally they doted on Crystal a bit more. They even took her out on a bank robbery for her sixteenth birthday.

They forgot to turn the television off.

Xander was thirteen, and just getting to that rebellious age of not assuming his parents were right in everything they said and did. So when he saw Crystal - his sister, the same sister who'd sung him to sleep when they'd been younger...when he saw her taking on the heroes that tried to stop her and leaving them with broken bones or worse, and laughing...something changed.

When Crystal and his parents returned that night, they were too jubilant in how successful Crystal's first act of villainy had been to notice Xander's downcast look. They didn't even think anything of it when he asked whether crippling one of the bank tellers had been a mistake. They just laughed it off.

Crystal (or rather, 'Titan,' as she became) kept going with her villainy. She was beaten a few times, of course, as all villains - even their parents - were, but she very quickly became renowned as a terrifying threat for her sheer strength and ruthlessness. And their parents were too busy cheering her on to notice their son growing more distant.

When Xander decided he wanted to go to college rather than join the 'family business'...they weren't that happy about it. They had, of course, noticed that he'd never so much as seemed interested in going out with them, but they'd just assumed it was a phase. They assumed the drive for education was a phase, too (and in fairness when Damon had about a dozen degrees it wasn't like they weren't a well-educated family). So they - albeit reluctantly - let him apply for a college about halfway across the States.

They never suspected he had more than just going to college in mind. He didn't care that much about his degree (he was majoring in politics, incidentally), but his true intent was to get away from his family.

Far enough away that he could start establishing himself without them looking over his shoulder - but not as a villain. As a hero.

    Show
    Archetypes: Sukeban/Tsundere
    Strong Roll: Conflict
    Weak Roll: Luck
    Advantages:
    - Less is More - Just like the guiding principle of zettai ryouiki, the rarity of your tenderness makes it just as valuable as that of characters who always have it on display. Once per episode, instead of applying any other modifiers to a roll, you may use the highest modifier being applied to the same roll by another characters.
    - Cold Shoulder - Acting hostile isnít a mistake for you, itís your strategy. Once per episode, you may treat a failed unopposed Allure roll as a success.
    - Bruiser - Youíre adept at physical fights, whether this is through strength, skill, mercilessness, or some combination thereof. +2 on Conflict rolls involving physical conflict.
    - Fearsome Reputation - Your violent past is the stuff of legends, and just the thought of drawing your ire is enough to make most people quake in their boots. +2 on Conflict rolls involving fear or intimidation.
    - Elemental Affinity - You're fundamentally disposed toward an element. Choose an element (Fire) and two of the four rolls (Allure & Conflict); you receive +2 on those two rolls in activities closely associated with your chosen element.
    - Personality Flip - Your usual standoffish attitude makes your tender moments all the more memorable. Twice per episode, by showing your extreme tsun side and voluntarily taking a -2 on your roll in one scene, you may show your extreme dere side and take a +2 on your roll in a later scene.
Quirk: Now It's On (from Bokukko) - Nothing gets you worked up like losing to some frilly, feminine girl (or charming, suave guy), and you can really kick some tail when you're in the mood. Whenever you lose an opposed Allure roll, you gain +2 on your next Conflict or Skill roll. This ability does not stack with itself to provide any bonuses larger than +2.

    Spoiler: M&M Power Descriptions
    Show
All powers have the [Metahuman] descriptor.

Body of Flame [Fire] - To some extent, Xander's body is naturally partially formed of fire. He has enough control that his fires don't burn his clothes or anything awkward (well, unless he gets really distracted), but it means that his body is far more resilient than makes sense for human flesh. His pyrokinesis also makes him totally impervious to the effects of heat and fire and pretty resistant to cold as well.

Heat Blast [Fire] [Heatstroke]- This is kinda Xander's go-to attack - it doesn't do any real damage (at least, not on the short timescale he uses it on) but suddenly feeling like you've been hiking through the Sahara desert in the heat of summer tends to kinda dissuade people from doing...whatever he was trying to dissuade them from doing.

Orange Flame Blast [Fire] / [Pain] - And when that fails, he turns up the heat (literally) and produces real flames, not just waves of heat. At this level the heat is less 'sunstroke exhaustion' and more 'painful widespread burns.' As far as he's concerned, if he's singed them with his Heat Blast and they're still fighting, they deserve it - and though painful, this burns aren't enough to do any lasting damage.

Blue Flame Blast [Fire] - This is generally the hottest level of fire Xander is willing to use against other people - it's hot enough to warp and melt armour and shields and leave nasty burns.

White Flame Blast [Fire] - After a certain point, only the most resilient materials can even hope to withstand Xander's flames - the kind of armour you find on a tank can usually withstand the heat, but your average car or brick wall simply gets vaporised.

Fusion Flare Blast [Plasma] / [Concussion] - Going beyond the laws of physics, at maximum power Xander can produces only very minute amount of flame - but that minute amount is enough to incinerate almost anything it touches, and the shockwave of superheated air is enough to knock most people for a loop.

Conjure Flame [Fire] - By focusing purely on control, rather than power, Xander can create intricate 'sculptures' of fire, with no more actual heat produced than a warm summer's day. It's pretty much entirely for showing off, though he has used it to fake a fire in a building to get people to evacuate before a villain's plan came to fruition.

Flame Absorption [Fire] - If he focuses on it, Xander can use his powers to 'catch' and absorb any fire that gets close to him, restoring his own semi-elemental body as a convenient side effect. If he stays close to someone to shield them, he can protect them in much the same manner.
Limited 2 (Absorption) is a shorthand for the following: Limited (only if he or someone benefiting from his bestowed Immunity is hit by a fire effect in the past round), Limited (max rank of Healing is the effective total rank of all fire effects to qualify for the prior limit in the past round, where adding two effects of Rank X produces an effective rank of X+1)

Heat Rises [Fire] - By wrapping his entire body in fire, Xander can lift himself up and fly at somewhere in the region of Mach 3. (Fortunately his control over fire lets him protect certain areas of his body from the flames, which a) means that he doesn't burn his own clothes of and b) means that he can carry things - or people - without burning them.)

Incarnate Flame [Fire] - By drawing more fully on his innate fiery nature, Xander can transform himself into a 15ft-tall pillar of fire. It's...not the most useful power in the world, since he doesn't have any physical form at that point, but it certainly looks impressive.

Passive Pyrokinesis [Fire] / [Light] - With more low-level applications of his Pyrokinesis, Xander can create a warm (or painfully hot, if he's feeling spiteful) atmosphere up to about quarter of a mile around him, create small fires to provide light, and generally perform other minor fire-related feats.

Project Flame - Xander somewhat prefers getting up close and personal with his fire blasts, but as one might expect for a pyrokinetic, if needed he can project his fire up to about 800ft (though it loses cohesion by about 200ft).

Surging Flames - It would probably safe to say that this is Xander's favourite power. Rather than a small bolt of flame or a wreath of fire around his hands, he unleashes a massive gout of flames around him. It's all very dramatic but he doesn't have...that much control over them.

    Spoiler: Complications
    Show
Motivation: Acceptance / Doing Good - Xander's seen how his family are treated by the world as a whole. They deal with it. He doesn't. Sure, he's cultivated a 'thick skin' as the saying goes, but fundamentally he wants to be a part of the world, not just a threat to it. Eventually he wants to be able to show people that, Vox or not, he can help, but he's alert (or cynical, depending on your point of view) enough to realise that if he just stood up and declared he was a hero now everyone would just think it was some cunning plot.

The Villainous Vox (Prejudice) - The Voxes have always been at least moderately careful about their identities, so Damon and Jennifer Vox aren't household names. But among the superheroic and supervillainous community? Yeah, pretty much everyone knows the Vox name. And more or less every single one of those people assumes that as a Vox, Xander is going to follow the rest of his family into the path of villainy.

Leading a Double Triple Life (Secret / Identity) - To the average college student, Xander is just a rough, intimidating young man. To the procession of supervillains who share a tenuous alliance/rivalry with his family, he's a willing assistant - and that's a reputation he's very carefully cultivated. If the truth were to get out that he's been helping foil plots there would probably be more than a few angry villains coming for him.

Hot-Tempered (Temper) - He's heard all the jokes about a 'fiery' temper and so on. Unfortunately it doesn't stop them being on the nose - Xander gets angry easy. When that anger is backed by pyrokinetic abilities, that can make things a bit...troubling. He tries to keep his temper under control as best he can, but he doesn't do very well at it.

Help! I Can't Swim! (Weakness / Phobia) - Xander's pyrokinesis doesn't do well when faced with large volumes of water. As a consequence, though he'd probably never admit it to anyone, he doesn't really like water. He can deal with the simple things of washing his face, having a shower, etc, but any still body of water - even if it's just a bathtub - unnerves him a little, and he's never even thought about learning to swim.

It Runs in the Family (Relationships) - The Voxes are proud villains, with a certain amount of status in the supervillainous world. Needless to say they...wouldn't be very pleased if they realised their son didn't share their enthusiasm for rampant destruction and robbery. For his part, they are still his family, and Xander doesn't want to lose them, no matter how diametrically opposed their ideals might be.

Like a Raging Wildfire (Accident) - Xander is, um...not great at control or precision. This can be a problem when you're flinging around the kind of fires you normally find in an industrial furnace.

Put It On the Tab? (Quirk) - Xander's parents are...relatively tolerant of his non-villainous ways. Education is important, after all! But while they're paying for his college education and halls, they're making their displeasure rather overt by not letting him have access to the vast reserves of wealth they themselves have built up. Xander has kinda got his own back at them by working a string of part-time jobs, but he still isn't exactly flush with cash, and depending on the whims of the job market he may find himself a little short on spare change.

Tall. Lanky, with lean muscle. Dark Skin with black dreadlocs dyed purple at the tips.

    Skirt length, eh?
    Tinsley is transgender
He's descended from Sirens, giving him various voice-based abilities.
He feels pretty bad about it a lot of the time, because the abilities should only manifest in daughters, and... welp.
His mom died a few years ago so now it's him and his dad raising a young teenager and two small children.
Mama Heatherlock was a real funny(wo)man and a bit of a prankster, and Tinsley often tagged along with her. When she died ended up picking up her end of the slack. His family is grateful that at least his mother' spirit id with them, but given how he loves to prod at people's buttons and make mischief, he isn't all that popular with certain crowds, supernatural attractiveness notwithstanding.

    Archetypes: Genki/Idol Singer
    Strong Roll: Allure
    Weak Roll: Conflict

    Advantages:
Idol Talent: Putting on a performance is your job, and you do it well. +2 to Skill rolls involving singing or dancing.
Stage Presence: You're a natural at getting all eyes on you. +1 on opposed Allure rolls.
Star Quality: Something about you makes you stand out easily in a crowd. +1 on rolls being attempted by all the girls simultaneously.
Hypercharged: Youíve got the energy of two people crammed into one body. Twice per episode, in a scene where there are multiple options to choose from, you can take two options at once. You take -2 on both rolls and get the results of both options. If both options lead to the same goal, you take the better of the two results.
Morning Person: You jump out of bed with boundless energy while others are still groggily waking up. +2 on Allure rolls before school or in the early morning on non-school days.
Overclock: You can summon up even more energy than normal at times, but you tend to burn out afterwards. Twice per episode, you can take +2 on any roll, but you take -2 on the next roll you make. You cannot use Overclock on the roll penalized by your first use of it. You may use Hypercharged and Overclock in the same scene; doing so allows you to make both rolls at no penalty, requires both uses of Overclock, and imposes -4 on your roll in the next scene. Whew!
Quirk: Sports Star: Do Your Best: You believe in inspiring yourself and others to pursue their individual talents, whatever they might be. Twice per episode, you may grant an additional +2 bonus to all girls using their strong roll (including yourself).

Replaceable Body - Immortality 5 - This body is a mere extension of "Misty"'s will, its destruction is a mere inconvenience, she just has to figure out where Earth actually was again...
Untouched by gravity - Flight 1: Limited, can only float in place - Such a minor thing as gravity hardly commands Misty's attentions.
Refocused attention - Teleportation 5, Accurate, Change Direction, Change Velocity, Turnabout - Movement is a mere matter of focusing elsewhere. Sure, walking is possible, but why bother?
Tentacle Monster from the Beyond See... - Variable, Limited: Skills, Limited: used by someone in the scene it changes. - Misty sometimes has a bit of trouble learning new things. Copying other people is much easier.
Brute Force of Gnashing Tentacle - Secondary Effect, Accurate 3, Strength Based Attack 10, Variable Descriptor 2 - Sometimes you've just gotta hit something really hard. Relatively speaking. This is for then.
Or to be more precise... - Increased Range, Accurate 5, Strength Based Attack 6, Variable Descriptor 2, Multiattack
    Advantages (7 points)
    Power Attack
    All Out Attack
    Fast Grab
    Improved Grab
    Improved Hold
    Takedown 2

    Skills (7 points)
    Perception 6
    Expertise: Physics 8

Motivation: Understanding - Ultimately, a lot of what Misty (and the others) want out of existence is to understand a bit more about the beings of this world. People make so little sense to them sometimes, so they're really quite keen on observing how they interact so that they can puzzle out how they work. Also these "laws of physics" people keep talking about her violating. Those seem wrong.
Destruction/Collateral - Even in this diminished form, her insane strength and durability sometimes make concepts such as "fragile" relative, and surely walls wouldn't be that fragile if they cared about you throwing people through them, right?

Kinda waiting for someone else to post so I don't end up monopolising everything, but in the meanwhile I guess I can see whether Xander actually remembers this Acid girl.

I made some slight alterations to his backstory. Hia "job" is a YouTube/YouTube equivalent star. Mostly does song covers but is branching out to streams since he might not have time to keep uploads constant.

Yes, Tinsley is streaming from his room. He's more or less just made his bed and unpacked his laptop.

So are Xander and Amelia still out and about for a coincidental meeting/introduction, or in Xander's room? (If the latter, I can always just "appear" in Xander's room by way of Shining Trapezohedron for the most awkward first encounter ever =P)

I think they'd be moving in and out of his room, getting his stuff in place.

So, um, @John Cribati, is Tinsley frustrated because he, among all the other people there (Amelia, Faye, Amelia's corrections officer, and all the people Modigar established were being held up behind Misty) who are presumably also reacting to Misty's faceplant, wasn't picked out of the crowd to be interacted with, or because you as a player are just putting OOC frustration at being 'ignored' into the game? It might be just me but it's...kinda hard to tell.

EDIT: Oh, right, you can't tag people here. Derp.

A little bit of both, except I'm not really "frustrated" at all.

So...does 'stuck my neck out' have another meaning I'm not aware of? Because I've only ever seen it used to mean putting oneself at risk, which...doesn't seem to make sense for Tinsley to say, and it's left me kinda confused.

He meant it literally. It was a pun. Because he literally just had his head and some shoulder showing.

Sadly, this wasn't out loud. I was originally planning to take it as literally as possible until I realised Xander didn't say it out loud.

So, how high up are we (and how high up is the glowy orb spider?) And also is this window something we could open and climb out of?

4th floor. And yes, you can-though it'd require picking a lock (since students aren't supposed to open hall windows) or breaking the mechanism.

Given Misty's strength, am I cool to accidentally break the mechanism trying to open it?
