I wonder how the deepfolk reacted to that sailor's tattoo.

And thanks to those of you that linked me to the 10-year-old injury that Zeetha took.
Here's where she's being healed: http://www.girlgeniusonline.com/comic.php?date=20110309
... So about a year from injury to healing.
... what happened to Sanaa (hit "previous")? Or is she just in the mechanisburg time-stop with everyone else? Not "fire at". I never used the word "at"

Re: Girl Genius XXVII: Hoy! Hennybody else not dead?
What's interesting (at least to me) is that Zeetha seems to have known her "wise old grandma". Given that she'd have no way of knowing Klaus's mother, that means that either Zantabraxus wasn't queen until a while after Klaus knew her or Skiffandrian succession happens before death.

I love how even for Martellus, who isn't a regular party member, the important part is that Gil owes him a drink.
I think if someone asked me what Sparks are like this is one of the pages I would show them."If it lives it can be killed.
If it is dead it can be eaten."

No, I think she's just tapping into the machines that make up most of Paris, the same ones the Master used to do his work. Otherwise, she'd be saying she could manipulate the fabric of the universe itself, not just Paris.

Re: Girl Genius XXVII: Hoy! Hennybody else not dead?
Midway through an archive crawl, saw Mama Gkika refer to to Higgs as 'dot boy' and realised why they all call him that.
As he was undercover, they've had to pretend he's not a Jager, for longer than pretty much anyone else has been alive. And if he wasn't a Jager, then he was obviously a young man, and all men of his age are kids compared to them, right? He just happened to be "that" kid. Force of habit, you call someone "the kid" for 100+ years and try changing ... And they still have to keep the pretence in front of everyone but Agatha and Zeetha, so why bother?I'm pretty much the opposite of concise. If I fail to get to the point, please ask me and I'm happy to (attempt to) clarify.

Re: Girl Genius XXVII: Hoy! Hennybody else not dead?
Who tricked the witch into disappearing the wolf and herself, according to Klaus.
But the parallels are definitely there.
Fought the Heterodyne, was manipulated by... what was her name?
Euphresyntia?
Ended up as a monster his successor had to slay.
While Klaus definitely was telling Gil about his own situation the tale fits the real Storm King's fate too, even if the actual "slaying" part hadn't happened yet."If it lives it can be killed.
If it is dead it can be eaten."

Re: Girl Genius XXVII: Hoy! Hennybody else not dead?
I guess it's possible in theory, but it would bring about a problem in that the Storm King married an Heterodyne and so did the wolf king. There's also the lightning surrounding the wolf's head.
Spoiler: the nurseIs the giant nurse Bohrlaikha? She could be the repository for something special. She's giant, Bang calls her a nanny, and she's not Gil's invention, so he doesn't know her ins and outs.Originally Posted by J.R.R. Tolkien, 1955

Re: Girl Genius XXVII: Hoy! Hennybody else not dead?
The Storm King got turned into the wolf (well, we know he was one already, amirite?). It was his son and heir that did the trick-the-witch thing.
Really, I wonder how many of the current noble houses are descended by the backstairs from Ol' Andy.

Re: Girl Genius XXVII: Hoy! Hennybody else not dead?
According to an exasperated comment from Gill to Tarvek in the novels, if the rumours are true over half of Europa is descended from the Storm King. A little exaggerated, perhaps, but according to a footnote the Storm King had heard about the idea of a King as a fertility symbol, and ran with it. (I think part of the exchange is on the comic, but the footnote isn't)
EDIT: I like the mug Seffieis drinking from. I haven't seen the design in ages, but it is supposed to be non-spill and stable in a ship-borne environment.Last edited by Manga Shoggoth; 2020-04-26 at 08:56 AM.

Thanks! Note to self, next time look up the reference.

Re: Girl Genius XXVII: Hoy! Hennybody else not dead?
So there's a roughly 50-50 chance Gil is descended from the Storm King by way of his father, since the Wulfenbachs are one of those old noble houses. Potential new twist in the whole Heterodyne Girl Marries the Storm King Heir plot.

Re: Girl Genius XXVII: Hoy! Hennybody else not dead?
Klaus did tell his people to call Gil "Your Highness". Of course that could be from his mother's side since he is technically a Prince.

Re: Girl Genius XXVII: Hoy! Hennybody else not dead?
Looking back, it would appear that the Mongfish had a hand in generating an heir to the Storm Crown. Which leads to two conclusions: one is that there cannot be too many suitable male heirs of the right age; and that it's possible that one or both of Tarvek and Martellus were the result of tampering
Spoilerand reserve some genetic oddity to be used to the advantage of the Other.Originally Posted by J.R.R. Tolkien, 1955

Speaking of Klaus' fairytale/hidden message, today's comic reminded me that Albia's a giantess.
