Re: IC Lords of Ruin (Spheres PF1)
As the shaft of Salty's crossbow bolt pierces the large mushroom, the fungal woman screams in pain as a similar wound appears on her shoulder. Her voice hits an excruciating keening, exceedingly painful to hear, to the point of making one's ears bleed.
SpoilerKeening Scream effect vs Fortitude (1d20+10)[14]
If successful, it deals (5d6)[19] sonic damage and you are staggered for one round. If save is successful, you take half damage and are not staggered.

Re: IC Lords of Ruin (Spheres PF1)
Volistad slashed at the tentacles, but they grabbed his legs again the moment they regrew. He kept enough wits about him to notice that damaging the giant mushroom seemed to be having an effect on the fungal spellcaster, so he tried to pull himself free enough to cast a spell unhindered.
Spoiler
CMB to escape Grapple: (1d20+13)[21] (not including any potential bonus from Light)
If he does escape, he'll take a Move action to go to N18-O19.

Re: IC Lords of Ruin (Spheres PF1)
Screaming in pain from the fire, the fungal dryad's face twists into an expression of extreme, inhuman malice, with her features almost cartoonishly exaggerated. She holds up her hand, clenches her fist tight, spins her palm forward and points at Calben. For those who can see Salty, his form immediately straightens in posture and he turns towards Calben, Xerxes, and the Beast of Zagog. His crossbow somehow preloaded is aimed at Calben, but though it is obvious he is trying to fight against the control as he grits his teeth and his body is actually shaking from the strain. Sadly, it is not enough, as he lets loose an attack targeted at the precariously dangling gnome.

Re: IC Lords of Ruin (Spheres PF1)
"Let's get a good look at you, ****er." Volistad swore as he stumbled out of the tentacles and brandished his sword at the giant mushroom. As he spoke, his bright aura expanded to fill the room, illuminating their remaining enemies with harsh firelight.
Spoiler
Move Action: Moved as indicated. He did move on the previous turn as indicated in the post, but I didn't change him since I didn't know if the CMB check succeeded or not, and didn't go back to do it after it was confirmed.
Standard Action: Spend a spell point to make his glow shed bright light out to 45' (should catch FD and the front of the giant mushroom) without concentration.
In case an MSB check is needed vs a Dark effect: (1d20+7)[15]

Re: IC Lords of Ruin (Spheres PF1)
Volistad's glow brightens, extending its reach to the dryad, showing Salty's form covered in moss and small fungal blooms. You can see from his face that he is still conscious and fighting to resist, but it is obvious he needs help. Now all can see the towering mushroom, with Salty's bolt protruding and yellow sap(?) dripping from its point of contact.

Re: IC Lords of Ruin (Spheres PF1)
While his attacks fails to hit their mark, Xerxes beast more than makes up for the deficiency. The fungal dryad is torn to pieces, and as it falls the large mushroom as well as the fungus currently extending its tubes stops and begins to wither. Salty is still afflicted with the fungus in his body, but he is able to slowly start moving again.

Calben drinks in the information about Salty from his healing magic, takes a deep breath, and squares his shoulders. His flame blade flickers and dances in his hand. "Alright, Salty. That gross plant stuff will have to be burned off. You're going to live, but it won't be pleasant. Fellas, hold him down. Daelthyr, keep him alive and give me whatever advice you can."

Re: IC Lords of Ruin (Spheres PF1)
Volistad threw a bolt of fire at the withering mushroom, out of anger and disgust. He didn't have any abilities he knew of that could help out with Salty in any way, so he simply stood guard while the others tried to help him.

Re: IC Lords of Ruin (Spheres PF1)
Calben is able to verbally comfort Salty, but his attempt at healing falls a bit short, as Salty yells in pain from the burns, even as they start to heal. The attempt hit more of Salty's uninfected flesh than the parasitic fungus.

Re: IC Lords of Ruin (Spheres PF1)
Salty starts to violently convulse after a while, shocked unconscious from the pain, but eventually loses the sickly green, blue, and purple coloring of the fungus. He is out, completely unconscious from strain, but for who knows how long.

Re: IC Lords of Ruin (Spheres PF1)
Xerxes spends an hour in the morning meditating over his blade. The cold grey light that had made the giant-kin uneasy vanishes before the blade bursts into glowing red flame. How are the two of you at subterranean navigation? Outside my area of expertise, I'm afraid.

As Xerxes meditates on his blade, channeling the power of flame through it, the sparks seem to be noticeably bigger than normal, pulling towards a certain direction. Looking at the Canary reveals it is still alive, but it seems something flammable is leaking into their section of the cavern.

Xerxes points at his sword. That is... unusual and troubling. Perhaps some form of gas? Calben, you are a wise scholar. What do you make of this? For now, I shall sheathe it to avoid further complications. He puts the sword away, extinguishing it.

Re: IC Lords of Ruin (Spheres PF1)
Volistad's sudden rush of insight reveals to him that, yes, it is natural gas of some sort. It is highly flammable, and toxic in sufficient amounts, but Xerxes seems to have revealed a small leak, far enough away from the source that it prevented explosive ignition. It is odorless, but if you wish to trace it to its source, it would require using some form of flame and moving in the opposite direction of which it is blowing. Not recommended since, you know, explosions.
