Default In The Hands Of Asclepius [Stars Without Number]

    Spoiler: Original Post
    Show
I recently picked up the full version of Stars Without Number (but luckily, it has more than enough to play in the free version) and I've got a hankering to game with it.

    Who's with me?

System: Stars Without Number (See Spoiler for Links)
Player Count: No more than 4
Style of Play: Adventure! Danger! Action!
Allowed Content: The core rulebook only
Character Creation: Any easily readable sheet works fine with me

    • Backstory: Skirt length
    • Experience: 1st level
    • Wealth: As per normal
    • Ability Scores: As per normal
    • Hitpoints/Health: As per normal
    • Alignment: Lean towards good

Other Notes: Make sure your backstory ends with the crash.

You left for Deidame. A new sector, a new life. You hadn't heard much of it-and that's probably for the best. No news is good news, right? Whatever reason compelled you to come here, you'd at least find a new home.

And then the crash. The ship you came in on, going up in flames. People being sucked out into the vacuum of space, only to fall in a blazing meteor towards the planet below. You knew you were going to die. You're pretty sure you did.

    But then you woke up.

Never been able to get a good game of SWN going, I'd definitely be up for playing one.

I actually grabbed myself a pdf if this a while back and wanted to try it out! Expressing interest! Still thinking on the type of character I want to make, maybe an adventurer or psionic

Awesome. Currently leaning either Psychic or a Warrior/Psychic Adventurer, I'll have something more solid after I've slept.

Alright, let's get some stats rolling.

    Strength: (3d6)[3][2][4](9)
    Dexterity: (3d6)[3][5][3](11)
    Constitution: (3d6)[3][3][4](10)
    Intelligence: (3d6)[3][6][5](14)
    Wisdom: (3d6)[5][3][1](9)
    Charisma: (3d6)[5][5][5](15)

Edit: *Glances at rolls* Don't suppose the space magic rules are in?

Let's see if the rng is in a good mood today:

    Strength: (3d6)[10]
    Dexterity: (3d6)[14]
    Constitution: (3d6)[13]
    Intelligence: (3d6)[13]
    Wisdom: (3d6)[8]
    Charisma: (3d6)[4]

Well well, I wanted to make an Expert so this is good, but he's not going to be Mr. Smooth for sure. Or maybe he will!

You can still replace a single stat with a 14.

Okay. In order to counteract bad rolls, in addition to the usual "replace one stat with a 14" rule, I'll add the following rules:

-You have one switch, for any two attributes. So for instance, with Shadowflick's, they could switch their 12 in Strength to any other stat
-You may take anyone else's array, but you must lower their highest roll by 2 if you do so. This is before replacing with a 14.

Yobov star system, halfway between Yobov-III abd Yobov-IV, Arcadia Type-6 Space Colony. It was there that Maxwell had lived all his life, and it was there that he would have kept living...if not for a little, tiny mistake.

Let's start from the beginning: he was part of the maintenance crew, like many others - but, unlike he was one of those unlucky enough to be assigned a zone near the underdecks. Working in close proximity to a den of scum and lawlessness was, as one could imagine, not exactly the safe-feeling job; however, though carrying a gun (and optionally knowing how to use it) was encouraged to scare off lone thugs, even outlaws recognised the importance of keeping the station from falling apart, and thus the techs were mostly left undisturbed.
That is, of course, unless they did something stupid. Like happening upon a "malfunctioning" panel and deciding to fix it even if wasn't on the work orders, causing a pretty large smuggling operation to be busted by security a few days later. It wasn't...particularly appreciated.

Long story short, the future on Arcadia looked bleak for Maxwell; he gathered his things and embarked on the first long-range outbound ship - destination, Deidame. It would be years - at the very least - before he would be able to come back, but he had no particular attachment to Arcadia; with a whole new star system of possibilitites in front of him, it seemed a better life awaited him.

    Fire. Screams.

    He had to run.

    Reach an escape pod.

    He had to-

    The walkway under him collapsed.

The last thing Maxwell felt was a sharp pain to his head, then blackness.

    Spoiler: Backstory
    Show

The Planet of Iluria was one ruled by blood. Noble Blood. It had the luck of being an easy planet to settle, rich in resources and low on any natural dangers. A New Eden if you will. However, when life is easy and nature itself fails to provide danger, human greed can create a fitting substitute. Early on, the various colonist who made this place ther home formed tribes and began to fight amongst each other War was constant. After this bloody age, however, these tribes became noble houses, and competed with each other in economics and trade as opposed to blade and blaster. Do not think that this made the people of Iluria any less prone to violent methods. This just made them more sudtle about it. Assassinations, betrayals, and all manner of blackhearted deals were common among these noble families, who would use the peasentry as tools in there political games.

Elaria is a member of House Monizan, whose speciality was in minning. They held control over the largest Moonsilver mine in Iluria. Ilurian moonsilver was a valuable resource, a flexible metal that was naturally strong and could create an edge just as good as a monoblade. It was, however, quite rare and required a lengthy process in order to make it usable. Thus, Knights were a common sight within Iluria. Elaria, wanted to be one of these knights

Indeed,s he wanted to transform her house into one that would follow the classic virtues of Chivalry. honor, Integrity, and compassion for the commonfolk. Casting away the need of immense wealth and constant political maneuvering, she wanted to create a house that she could be proud of. Unfortunately, her parents and other family members did not agree with her virtous vision.

Thus, they sent her off to a New Planet to establish a foothold for House Monzian's interests. In truth though, this was just to put her in some unimportant place in the galaxy where her need for chivalry wouldn't affect their business at large. Dedimene was far away! And hardly explored, surely she would find something to occupy herself with?

Elaria would refuse the private transportation her family offered, instead preferring to travel amongst the common folk to better learn there ways. Little did she know, the freighter she decided to board was doomed to meet a fiery end.

The last things Elaria remembers before waking up was trying her best to keep people calm, trying to think of someway to keep them alive..if not the hope they they might survive.

Well, that's true for any first level SwN character.

    Also totally forgot HP: (1d6+1)[4].

Also also, I decided Tinker fit better if picked up after adventuring for a bit, so I replaced it with the second level of Specialist.

Not initially. But once you leave the planet, most likely.

Also, can I get a table of applicants?

Okay, I'd like everyone to be finished by tonight. Unavenger is the slowest one, currently, so there's a chance you might not get in.

I'm hoping to get the OOC up within 10 hours or so.

Okay, so all those who have interest so far, can go to the OOC.

The IC will be started, but it shouldn't be a super fast start.
