Default Mr. Black has been murdered! Clue

    A Semi-Competitive/Semi-Cooperative Forum-Based Logic Game!

It was a dark and stormy night, the entire atmosphere seemed to agree that tonight was a night best spent locked in the safety of your homes and even then, your safety wouldn't be guaranteed.

It certainly wasn't guaranteed for Mr. Black, murdered in his own home, surrounded by what should have been his close friends. As a detective you were called to the scene shortly after the police had arrived. Mrs. White, Mr. Black's cleaning maid, reported the case just 30 minutes ago, since then, the police have taped off the area and prevented anyone from entering the mansion or leaving the premise.

Only six suspects, but they all have potential motives, even more frustrating the cause of death is unclear, there are a variety of potential weapons and the body has clearly been moved, so it is not even clear where crime took place

Time for you and your crew to get cracking.

While the idea and theme are both taken from Clue, the rules here have a couple important differences so please read through them before posting.

    Spoiler: Rules
    Show

    Spoiler: Object of the Game
    Show

In order to win, you must determine who murdered Mr. Black, what weapon they used to murder him, and where they murdered him.

    The suspects are:

    Mrs. White
    Professor Plum
    Colonel Mustard
    Mrs. Peacock
    Rev. Green
    Ms. Scarlet

    The possible weapons are:

    Beaten with a Candlestick
    Beaten with a Wrench
    Beaten with a Lead Pipe
    Strangled with a Rope
    Stabbed with a Knife
    Shot with a Revolver

    The possible rooms are

    The Study
    The Kitchen
    The Ballroom
    The Conservatory
    The Billiard Room
    The Library
    The Hall
    The Lounge
    The Dining Room

    Spoiler: Theories and Accusations
    Show
The game progresses by people making theories, simply post your theory by naming one suspect, one room, and one weapon. I'll respond to replies (hopefully daily) and I'll debunk your theory.

Here is one place where we significantly deviate from ordinary clue rules, rather than being secretly shown a piece of information that another player has, I will give a clue that rules out the theory you made (Rev. Green couldn't have used the Candlestick, he had no access to gloves and his fingerprints are not on it. or, nobody could have used the revolver, as it still has all six bullets in it and their is no evidence of it being fired recently.)

If your theory is correct, you win! The game is over.

The nature of the hint (one item being ruled out, two items can't be combined, or one item could only be paired with one other item you didn't theorize) will be determined by RNG.

I'll make sure to clearly spell out the hint eg. Rev. Green did not use the candlestick. The revolver is not the weapon. etc.

    Spoiler: Miscellaneous
    Show

Firstly, one theory per person per day. You can post again immediately after I post the summary.

If I failed to update, first of all, I apologize. Second of all, you are free to submit a second theory after 24 hours.

I will post the answer to all of the theories along with a summary of all hints thus far in one post daily.

So just anyone can join in?

In that case, my theory is that Mrs White committed the murder in the study with the candlestick, because first in the list.

Yup, anyone is free to throw in a theory whenever they choose.

A brilliant theory Snowblaze! There is afterall, signs of a struggle in the study. You quickly begin investigating the candlestick. Alas, There is no way Professor Plum could have used the candlestick, as Professor Plum's fingerprints do not match any on the candlestick.

Mrs. White cannot have used the Candlestick.

A second great theory, Mr. Plum is acting rather suspiciously... It couldn't have been Professor Plum in the Hall, however, as several other suspects have testified that Professor Plum never had an opportunity to be alone with Mr. Black in the hall.

Professor Plum cannot have committed the crime in the Hall.

A tingling sensation tells you that this is a good theory, call it a hunch, or call it trying to read into the OPs examples.

Unfortunately, the OP thought of that and specifically wrote out all the rules before using RNG to determine the actual crime.

Besides, The Candlestick couldnít have been the weapon, it has a fine layer of dust on it, it canít have been moved in weeks, if not months.

The Candlestick is not the weapon.

    Summary of Hints Thus Far

    1. Mrs.White cannot have used the Candlestick.
    2. Professor Plum cannot have committed the crime in the Hall.
    3. The Candlestick is not the weapon.

    Accusations
Upon further thought, I realized there is no need to have a separation between accusations and theories, like you would have in an actual game of clue, therefore, I have decided to remove accusations. In order to win, you must simply present the correct theory, I will update the rules accordingly.

Well, we already determined that the revolver couldnít be the weapon, but letís look into the theory anyways, perhaps weíll find something useful.

Mrs. Scarlet never had an opportunity to pick up any weapons besides the knife on her plate.

A lot of suspicion towards the Colonel. That is to be expected though, he did bring the revolver to the party after all.

However, it appears the only chance the colonel had to be alone with Mr. Black was in the Dining Room.

Very true! You go and question Mrs. White: ďThatís not possible, I would never hurt Mr. BlackĒ she says, her face turning pale, ďbesides, Mr. Black never entered the kitchen!Ē
You question the other suspects. Sure, enough, they all vouch that Mr. Black never entered the Kitchen

Mrs. White says that any lead pipes must have come from the maintenance room. Rev. Green and Colonel Mustard together are able to vouch that Mrs. Peacock never entered the maintenance room.

(Mrs. White cannot have used the Candlestick.)
(Mrs. White cannot have committed the crime in the Study.)
The Rope must have been used by Mrs. White (if it was used at all).
The Rope cannot have been used in the Billiards Room.
Thus, if the place was the Billiards Room or the Study, Ms. White and the Rope are both excused.

(The Wrench cannot have been used in the Study.)
If the Study is the room then the weapon must be the Lead Pipe.
Mrs. Peacock cannot have used the Lead Pipe.
Thus, if the room is the Study, Mrs. Peacock and Ms. White is exempt.

Mrs. Scarlet must have used the Knife (if she used anything at all).

Colonel Mustard must have done it in the Dining Room (If he did it at all).

If the Library is the room, then the suspect must be Professor Plum.
If the Library is the room, then the weapon must be the Candlestick.
(Professor Plum cannot have committed the crime in the Hall.)
If any of Professor Plum in the Library with the Candlestick is correct, then it all is, and if any of it is incorrect, all of it is. Thus, we can rule out both Professor Plum and the Library.

    Our new definites:
The Candlestick is not the weapon.
The Revolver is not the weapon.
The Kitchen is not the room.
The Library is not the room.
Professor Plum is not the killer.

Let's see... I think that we can get the most info if we accuse Rev. Green in the Study with the Knife.
See that cool Teifling? Thanks, potatopeelerkin! If you want something like it, they have more avatars up for adoption in the thread with the same name...

Mrs White with the wrench in the ballroom. Because I can't be bothered to make a spreadsheet so I'm just working my way down the list instead.
Cleric of the Random Number God. All hail RNGesus!

Never played D&D and perpetually clueless in Werewolf/Mafia.

Werewolf games won: 5 (as town, wolf, evil mutant, town again and Russian spy. Don't ask.)

Werewolf games lost: 1 (as survivor)

Number of deaths: 2 ( horribly murdered by Valmark, Xihirli and Lord Athos for no particular reason night one; killed night two for being the Seer) and now I have to get rid of all my lovely white text. Damn you, wolves!

It would be nearly impossible to bring a weapon into the study. The only way to get one's hands on a weapon would be to grab a lead pipe from the maintenance room that is connected to the study.

If the room is the Study then the weapon must be the Lead Pipe
I believe I asked about the lounge, not the study... can that be fixed?

Also, my freshest theory is Mrs. White, with the rope, in the ballroom.

You question the suspects and you review the facts of the case. The knife was found in the Billiard Room and there's no way someone could have put the knife in the room after the deed without being noticed.

If the Knife is the weapon, the room must be the Billiard Room.

You begin investigating the rooms. The Lead Pipe is still where you found it, in the Dining Room, it's also ridiculously heavy and unwieldy, difficult to move around sneakily.

If the Lead Pipe is the weapon, the room must be the Dining Room

You pick your way through the Ballroom, there's no sign of violence, nor any indication that the room has been cleaned recently.

The Ballroom is not the room.

It doesn't add up, Mrs. Scarlet may have gotten her hands on a knife, but how would she have done it anywhere but the dining room?

If Mrs. Scarlet is the suspect, the room must be the Dining Room

    Summary of Hints Thus Far

    1. Mrs. White cannot have used the Candlestick.
    2. Professor Plum cannot have committed the crime in the Hall.
    3. The Candlestick is not the weapon.
    4. The Revolver is not the weapon.
    5. The Rope must have been used by Mrs. White (if it was used at all).
    6. Mrs. Scarlet must have used the Knife (if she used anything at all).
    7. Colonel Mustard must have done it in the Dining Room (If he did it at all).
    8. The Kitchen is not the room.
    9. Mrs. Peacock cannot have used the Lead Pipe.
    10. If the Library is the room, then the suspect must be Professor Plum.
    11. If the Library is the room, then the weapon must be the Candlestick.
    12. Mrs. White cannot have committed the crime in the Study.
    13. The Wrench cannot have been used in the Study.
    14. If the Study is the room then the weapon must be the Lead Pipe
    15. The Rope cannot have been used in the Billiard Room.
    16. If the Knife is the weapon, the room must be the Billiard Room.
    17. If the Lead Pipe is the weapon, the room must be the Dining Room
    18. The Ballroom is not the room.

I think you missed my last theory in the dayís summary...

Also, my new theory is that Mrs. Scarlet stabbed Mr. Black with the knife in the Billiards Room.
