I frequently forget Sending has a relatively long casting time, so I was expecting for a sec that we'd get an answer immediately. I wonder if we will get an answer; I don't think those invisible voices were malevolent really, but I also sorta doubt the two Paladins are awake already.

I could get why Xykon lowered his defences: he assumes he has backup copy in the Astral plane. But why Redcloak is so reluctant to organize better defences?

Probably the best defense against unknown attacker is just to seize the gate ASAP?

Redclock feels the responsibility from the Dark One, "don't screw up" ;) and would be pretty, pretty hard to deal with Thor's offer.

Locate Object might locate Lien's spear or any other object seen by V?

Yeah, normally they just pretend. ten minutes pass between each panel.

You know, I hadn’t considered the possibility that the Order would try to rescue the paladins from Xykon. This could be bad.

What defense could Redcloak and Xykon set up that the bugbears wouldn’t already have though?

Roy's plan is unusually simple this time.

I suppose a good time would be when Xykon and team comes out from one of the doors, but I doubt it'll be that simple. And I don't see how that will advance the plot.

I hope there more info on the paladins next time, what a cliff hanger.

As to defenses, I’ve got to wonder if Redcloak is disinclined to try to recruit more bugbears for it due to the increased likelihood of Xykon offing minions that aren’t obedient enough or when he’s bored. Oona seems to be high enough level that killing her out of boredom isn’t worth the lols for Xykon.

Not freezing. Lien has her Ring of Water Breathing to keep her warm, and O'Chul has a Cloak of Warmth. You know, assuming the invisiguys didn't confiscate all their magic items...

The best reply to Blackwing would have been
'Enough already, yer a class feature'
but I guess Rich ran out of room in that panel.

Other than that, not much to enjoy besides Belkar's line about uptight bald dude and blue hair chick.

Oh, and you can count on feathers. Even the comic title is primate centric!
My personal folder is a graveyard of ideas, stuck in their dream phase.
The "DM won't kill us" attitude is a bubble that sometimes needs to be bursted.
There's an armor variant rule in UA that will drastically increase character survivability without completely bubble-wrapping them in plot invulnerability

Why not? It's been two days since they were captured. (see panel 1)

No, they were captured and taken away. They are presumably being held somewhere warm enough for immediate survival.

Blackwing's line is amusing, but not entirely unexpected. For him, it's kind of par for the course.

What's really funny is that Mr. Scruffy apparently understood what Roy said and is also angry (look at his expression in the last panel).

Also, I have a feeling that Bloodfeast is going to be turned back eventually - either in a fight in the open, or the cavern they fight in is large enough. The second possibility actually makes sense when you realize a lot of high-CR monsters are pretty damn big - Colossal or even Gargantuan monsters are still rather uncommon, but Huge monsters are reasonably common and Large monsters are very common!

Incidentally, how did the Scribblers hide that Gate? No matter where it actually is, I highly doubt it's at surface level now - perhaps copious amounts of Stone Shapes? I suppose they did have three epic-level spellcasters and the resources to hire many lesser ones, but multi-dimensional rock? I don't think I've ever heard of that, but I have seen one module where the bad guy fortress was made by constructing it normally on the Material, then placing rocks in the corresponding locations on the Ethereal. Or is there some other way?

Having to think in-the-box and caring about the lives of other people, see last page.

EDIT: Basically Elan is saying that the feeling of self-worth one gets from halping others is worth the trouble.

So place your bets: Will the Sending go through or not?

If it doesn't go through, will that be due to the Sending being blocked, or because they're on another plane?
It could also still go through but not get a response due to the Paladins being out cold, like what happened with Girard's Phantasm.

It's a followup from last episode:
Caring about the lives of other people really limits one's strategic options.
Yeah, sometimes you need to get extra creative to Think safely inside the box.
That's OK, doing the right thing balances out in the end.
    It does? How?
Well, you just have to take into account the long-term strategic value of a billion more squishy feel-goods in your happy hope-spot.
