Is there not a thread for this? It's the (un)holy 4/13, after all.

More importantly, how did John not know Vriska was here? I thought he already knew of her presence in the Epilogues.

There was a thread but it died from lack of interest.

The MSPA fandom on this forum seems to have collapsed from lost momentum after the original comic ended.

    It's several things for me:

    1) Homestuck was such a long journey, it ended decently, why can't it just be done? Stop dragging things out. At least Hiveswap uses new characters.

    2) Andrew isn't even running this. He provided a rough outline as a guideline, but it's being done by a team of other writers. (This is straight out of the official FAQ.) This shouldn't bother me as much as it does, the original was always influenced by the fandom, and Andrew was always running by the seat of his pants anyways. But this feels like Andrew doesn't even really care, he's just officially endorsing some fanfiction to satisfy the masses & generate revenue.

This is a little cynical of me, I know, maybe Andrew just wants to be surprised to see where his characters get taken?

    3) Honestly, I didn't really like the epilogue stories. The melodrama & gravitas was just a bit too much for me. The bit with Dave & Obama-bot was the only shining, fun part I remember.

    4) Only updating once a month is a bit disappointing. Especially if it ends up being anywhere near the original's length.

Still, I may give it chance.

Pretty much my thoughts. Homestuck original was impressive in scale, if not exactly in the intrapersonal, and it's a rare media where I can say to someone

and whatnot. However, the new produce's attempts at being "meta" is starting to get to the point of ridiculousness.

I guess I'm just sticking around for the music and [S] scenes. HS 2 definitely has improved its graphics, at the very least, and the newly-released album sounds great so far.

This update really started off nicely, with Harry getting his strife specibus and the Omega kids (is that what they're called?) arguing. I'm surprised with how much I like them, and they're probably my favorite parts of the story -- not that it's an incredibly high bar to clear.

    And then, uh...

Can i ask what in the living world is going on Jade-Rose?

Is there a reason why Jade got the short end of the stick? Dirk, I can get behind. He's shown to be capable of underhanded manipulation and ruthlessness (which previously were not villainous traits). Jane, I don't even want to get into that, but maybe HS^2 will give the mercy of saying she was secretly Crockertier the whole time.

But Jade? Jesus. Why would you give one of the main, core kids a dog...d -- (oh god), and have her literally serve as either Dave and Karkat's relationship meddler (which is why I the ship, since it literally floats off of the ashes of Jade's characterization) or being a furry-obsessed putting-her-kid-in-isolation-for-a-seriously-long-time parent...and somehow what I just typed is actually a thing.

I'm just hyped for the [S], I guess.

Homestuck is good at making you feel really proud of yourself because you think you understand what's going on, and then taking you behind the shed and putting you down like Old Yeller.

Ok, I broke down & am now following the sequel.

So far, mixed feelings. At times, it feels like classic Homestuck. But I don't care too much for the whole rebellion setting. And way too much text.

Yeah, the problem started back in Homestuck. Act 5 had a large jump in text density, but that was partly due to suddenly introducing 8 new characters to fill out the Zodiac. But Act 6 onwards got too wordy. I really liked the adventure & exploration of the first half Homestuck the best, and the carapacians showed Hussie could tell a good story & show personality without drowning us in words.

Now, with everyone being able to freely talk, it takes way too long to get through a page. Hire an editor to trim it down, please! Or just have a sequence of silent panels. The characters are obviously able to talk without every word being narrated.

I probably wouldn't mind as much if they spread everything out. Why one or two updates a month, when you look at the log & see they could easily drip feed us a few each day?

Sorry, this post is more of a rambling steam of thought.

I don't mind text, but Homestuck did a really good job of using both text and visuals to explain what's going on, and while the visuals have been nice looking, they haven't given as much information as they did in Homestuck.

You can do that in both text and image based mediums, my point is that Homestuck advanced the story with both of those mediums, and ^2 has only really used text.

A less controversial update than the last one, I guess. Candy's narrative speed has slowed down considerably.

Yiffy's design looks pretty nice, although mentally I was begging that she could please get a rename like Tiffany or something.

Jane, as usual, digs herself deeper and deeper into the moral pit without any previous explanation. I'll probably dub her "Jane" until the comic gives several actual reasons on why she turned out this way.

    The kids texting were nice.

It great to finally see my patron troll in the sequel story. If I remember right, dead Jade is being possessed by an alternative Calliope who reached god tier and is the one that finish off Caliborn. And yes, there goal I believe is stopping Dirk in the Meat timeline from accomplishing his goal of creating a new universe from the start of another sburb session on a distant planet from Earth.
