A random OotS inspiration anecdote.
So a while back in the discussion thread for Strip #888, I posted a speculation about the inspiration for the illusion trap that Girard had utilized. My speculation included the solipsism spell from the Spell Compendium, noting the vague similarities in function between that spell and the comic.
In the back of the Spell Compendium on page 285 is a list of articles and publications that were sourced for that book, and I was checking that list just now for another unrelated matter, when I happened to notice that one of the articles sourced for the Spell Compendium is an article from Dragon #324 titled "The Hidden Book" by Rich Burlew.
So I got really curious and dug out my copy of that issue. The article which starts on page 70 has some spells that were reprinted in the Spell Compendium, one of which is Solipsism.
