Also, Saha & O-Chul have perhaps the coolest dynamic in the OotS canon, with significant respect for each other despite very different beliefs and behaviors. Their conversation about the "right" thing to do about GDGU's central plot is a great example of this.

For sure Malack and Tarquin is cool and all but Haley and Elan is just way more meaningful to the overall story. Elan crashing through the window from the Mechane to rescue Haley and her subsequent overcoming of her anaphasia is one of my favorite moments in the story.

simply because of what it took to get them together (from a post further up) is a big reason why I can't vote for "Elan and Haley."

Tarquin & Malack, because that which is rare and positive (such as nuanced bad guys, or adults talking out their differences despite heated emotions) is also valuable even if it's part of a troublesome package. Straightforward sappy romance is good for warm fuzzies, but that's why it's about as common in fantasy as sand on a beach.

I feel like Roy & Celia is a little under-developed in the story. Her role as the Exposition Fairy and travelling companion to Haley is more meaningful than her romance with Roy.

Haley and Ian is more complex and meaningful, but in this tournament format, they got unlucky going against Durkon & Malack, which is even more complex and had huge plot implications.

Haley and Ian are good example of how even people from criminal environment can have deep and positive feeling for one another.

Roy and Celia have very stereotypical relationship, but Belkar and Miko is nothing but dumb hate on both sides.
