I mean... it is a "self-aware stick figure stick figure fantasy parody". Meta-gaming is part of Belkar's character, like why he took a level in Barbarian. Anyway, to each their own, and this is the fun of this thread for me: to see how different people enjoy different aspects of the comic.

I have to say, this match-up is oddly fitting, though I'd never have thought to compare the two.

Elan & Nale's relationship is a great one, both in it's in-universe development, as in the way it shows the gradual deepening of oots's story and world beyond just a tabletop fantasy parody, and Burlew's skill in slowly unweaving said story.

Meanwhile, Redcloak and SPOILER's relationship essentially define redcloak's philosophy and sunk cost fallacy, and is in my opinion one of the best dynamics in the entire extended story.

I'll have to give it to Elan & Nale though I certainly wouldn't mind if Redcloak &

I do like Elan & Nale for exactly the reason Taevyr says: it shows how Burlew was adept at forming a compelling story out of joke-a-week madness. However, the SoD story is more compelling then that of Elan & Nale, in my opinion.

Kazumi x Daigo is ... okay, I guess. Nice to see a quiet happy relationship from NPCs once in a while.

I feel a little bad for Kazumi & Daigo, who have played with the tropes (instead of just doing the expected) more than many couples. I wish I'd had been around to vote for them beforehand, because I imagine O-Chul and MITD will blow them out of the water (but I have to vote for them anyway on principle).
