Niobe
"If I understand that thing correctly, we use the green thing to wind or unwind, and the red thing works as a safety lock, so that you can either let the wind move freely, or pull up the load in steps. So, I guess, we can take turns on the green handle, whenever we hear the click of the safety locking in. Right?"

Re: A path to remember. (ICC)
"I think you are right. Let me take a look to be sure, though. I would hate to fail in our efforts to winch up the wagons." Rhuk inspects the assembly to be sure they have the right understanding of it.

Just tell me which one to turn. I’m not the best at figuring out how things work.

Playing with the crank and lock, Niobe finds their theory to be correct. You can now let the rope out and someone will have to carry it back down the slope to Dugal.

"Now, friends, we could bring the rope down, or..." she grins, "We could strap me to the hook and you let me down. To... you know... Make sure we know how it works."

Re: A path to remember. (ICC)
Alan strums his lute absently. This is hardly the kind of task for a bard. Let the warriors do the heavy pushing and pulling, he was content to sit here and work on his next ballad. "Very well. I shall do as you direct."

Re: A path to remember. (ICC)
The rest of the day is hard and slow going, but eventually all of the wagons make it up the hill. Dugal suggests staying for the evening as it is starting to get late. Everyone is tired.

Re: A path to remember. (ICC)
Once camp is set, Rhuk looks for a quiet place to study and reflect on the day. Eventually, he finds a spot under one of the wagons and leans back against the wheel to read.

Dagnar continues to keep watch around the camp as we bed down for the night.
Do we need a watch schedule for the night?

"Let's make one. After all, we are responsible for the caravan's safety."
She takes out a piece of parchment and starts to collect preferences and the ability who can see in the dark from the others, to create a sensible watch schedule.
Spoiler: oochope you're all ok with this.

"I shall take whichever watch you wish to give me," Alan says. "I feel the muse upon me tonight. Perhaps I might write a new song while I stay awake."

Rhuk grunts, "Unngh. Watch. Put me down for morning so I can rest enough to memorize my spells."

I can take a mid-watch as well for another caster to get an uninterrupted rest.

You all take your rest and the morning comes. Dagnar rouses the people at dawn, and after a short time of prepping, you head off into the day.

Niobe
"So, who of you lot have been in Fairhaven before?" She asks the other PCs.
Spoiler: OOCTBH, I don't really have too many ideas on what else to do than having small talk. I'd be good to "skip" to the next event.

Re: A path to remember. (ICC)
Two days pass without event. In the late afternoon on the third day, the caravan is slowed by an overly saturated part of the trail. Some nearby river or stream has overfilled an spread water all over. You all must slog through the muck to get down the road, it is difficult to navigate the caravan without error but it happens.
On the other side, there is an odd patch of trail, one might think it may have been caused by whatever made the stream overflow, but Niobe an tell, there is more to it than that. perhaps a trap.
