Re: Anonymouswizard's Random Banter #227 and Free Cup of Tea
That...is an actual reason to drink sweet tea.
wonderful, I now have a way to insult my southern friends properly about their diabetes juice that they insist on calling tea.
I do seriously wonder about such thing...like how snapple became a thing which I presume is derived from an attempt to mass market such a beverage.

Imean, if you call "i am rubber you are glue" a "proper way to insult people", then sure.
Oh, also, if your only experience to sweet tea is Snapple, then I can kind of see where you're coming from. That's like eating McDonalds and saying "how can people claim steak tastes good, I've had beef before!"Last edited by Peelee; 2020-06-30 at 03:36 PM.

Re: Anonymouswizard's Random Banter #227 and Free Cup of Tea
Look, there's a reason that one of the most famous and popular examples of British cuisine is food from India. Y'all can't make edible concoctions good on your own. Don't make me come over there and open up a barbecue restaurant. Or a fried chicken restaurant. Or a cajun restaurant. Or a creole restaurant.

Re: Anonymouswizard's Random Banter #227 and Free Cup of Tea
British cuisine is amazing...well was...lots of herbs saffron, careful roasts, game, gravies, etc.
etc etc...
It also basically nuked itself in the industrial revolution when purchasing power fell through the floor, industrialized food was invented, and all the food and water was seasoned with human waste and needed to be boiled to prevent your GI track falling out, running away, and possibly attacking a Frenchman or saucy sheep.

Re: Anonymouswizard's Random Banter #227 and Free Cup of Tea
Imean, there's knowing about it, and then there's making it your own. British tea is definitely British. It's like if you fed a British person seafood, and they went home and said "that was great! We should have seafood. Clearly, the best thing to do is pair it with potatoes. Like, a lot of potatoes. More potatoes than seafood, that's what the people really want when they want seafood. They want potatoes."

Re: Anonymouswizard's Random Banter #227 and Free Cup of Tea
We're getting better, and some organisations have made massive efforts to rediscover and preserve those old recipes. I have a National Trust cookbook devoted to showing the variety of English food.
Plus, desserts. We have some amazing sweet dishes to the point that the Americans tried to claim one without altering it. Plus the only desert to sound like an STI that I know of. But we need like, thirty more years to get good savoury back.
Well what carbs would you pair with sea bass?

Re: Anonymouswizard's Random Banter #227 and Free Cup of Tea
All this talk about plant life that you may or may not be silly for eating got me peckish, so I went to go buy groceries. On the way I took... many pictures of flowers, cause my home is ridiculously cool about putting up flowers everywhere.
Here is a sampling: https://lazodiac.tumblr.com/post/622...%C2%BD-flowers
Those familiar with my book might recognize the general feel of "flowers just kinda everywhere", heheLast edited by LaZodiac; 2020-06-30 at 04:31 PM.

Re: Anonymouswizard's Random Banter #227 and Free Cup of Tea
We get near 24 hour sun in the summer, so it isn't hard to make flowers grow quite plentifully!
Yup! As a specific note, almost every lamp post has those big buckets on them, and almost every building has the big boxes in front of them. The commercial area of town is covered in flowers and it's kind of great!

Regarding tea – I tried iced tea without sugar and it wasn't great, though I never put sugar in hot tea. But it's too hot these days for hot tea.

Sounds like it would drag on
I'm off to bed, for some reason. Probably to set of I can get that sexy dream about [redacted] again.
Also, because it came up in conversation with my girlfriend(? I need a better term than 'woman in dating'( earlier, I should probably actually watch The Crying Game. Still longing for the days where we can meet up and do that thing people do on the First of May (although inside).

Re: Anonymouswizard's Random Banter #227 and Free Cup of Tea
Off the top of my head:
"lady love",
"paramour",
"my intended",
"my sweetheart",
"my honey"
"my sweetie"
"my lady"
(back in the '90's my use of this term had one of my riding buddies laugh and say "You sound like a '70's R&B singer!")
EDIT:
'tis a fair cop!
