Anyway, I used to have a friend on Facebook who thinks that Pandemic is a scam and he refused to wear a face mask. We argue and I block him permanently off of my friend because obviously he an idiot and I don't want to associate people like that.

Re: Anonymouswizard's Random Banter #227 and Free Cup of Tea
You've never met me in person I take it
I finished watching The Romans last night. It's the least engaging Doctor Who story I've ever seen, there's a good three episode serial in there but it needs to be played far more seriously (especially Nero). It took me over a month to watch the thing because the first two episodes just bored me
Guess I'm over hallway through the surviving Hartnell stories though, although apparently it's still a few serials until comedy Daleks (any many until baseball bats).

The Romans contains one of my favourite scenes in all of Dr Who. Who needs a sonic srewdriver or psychic paper when you have a lyre and a bedsheet?

Re: Anonymouswizard's Random Banter #227 and Free Cup of Tea
Remember when the sonic screwdriver just moved objects? (Mostly small ones as I remember, although Who has always been inconsistent.) You know, instead of being a 'do anything with technology' device, you didn't need a 'deadlock seal' as an ordinary maglock would have worked fine.
And yes, there are some very good scenes in it (I like the gladiator fight, it's one of the few times where not being able to hit your opponent with your series makes sense for the characters), but overall I just found it a bit bloated. Even compared to most of Who.

Has the sonic screwdriver ever been used as a screwdriver? I remember the Doctor completion that it doesn't work on wood, but if the wood has screws, then, ya know, it should.

Re: Anonymouswizard's Random Banter #227 and Free Cup of Tea
The question is not 'has it ever been as the screwdriver'. The question is 'are there any surviving insurances of it being used as a screwdriver?'
There are some later instances in the classic series where it might be being used for a similar role (in The Sontaran Experiment it's used to fix some rather small machines), but it did get empowered rather quickly. However it was not the solve anything tool of the modern series, and as I remember whole serials would go by without it being required. If the Doctor wanted to reverse the polarity of the neutron flow it wasn't the only tool for the job.
