Default Rage Mage (5e Barbarian Subclass)

    Path of the Rage Mage

Ordinarily, the discipline required of mages is anathema to the unbridled fury of the Barbarian. However, for a rare few, raw anger can unlock latent magical power.

    Rage Casting
When you choose this subclass at 3rd level, you gain the ability to cast spells and concentrate on them while raging. While raging, you may spend your action to cast any 1st or 2nd level spell of your choice from the Sorceror spell list. Once you have cast a spell this way, you cannot do so again until you have completed a short or long rest.

In addition, you learn one cantrip of your choice from the Sorceror, Bard, or Druid spell lists. You learn an additional cantrip when you reach level 6 and 10 in this class. You do not need to be raging to cast these cantrips.

You need not provide material components for spells or cantrips gained from this feature, unless they have a listed cost.

In keeping with the paradoxical nature of your magic, Constitution is your spellcasting ability.

    Ritual Casting
At 3rd level, you may cast any Sorceror spell as a ritual, if you are capable of casting it with your Rage Casting feature and it has the ritual tag. Constitution is your spellcasting ability.

    Improved Rage Casting
At 6th level, you may use your Rage Casting feature to cast a 3rd level spell from the Sorceror spell list, instead of a 2nd level spell.

    Weapons of Rage

At 10th level, while raging, any weapon in your possession is magical.

    Greater Rage Casting

At 10th level, you may use your Rage Casting feature to cast a 4th level spell from the Sorceror spell list, instead of a 3rd level spell.

    Superior Rage Casting
At 14th level, you may use your Rage Casting feature to cast a 5th level spell from the Sorceror spell list, instead of a 4th level spell.

Default Re: Rage Mage (5e Barbarian Subclass)

    Pros
    + Warlock Casting
+ Technically knows the entire Sorceror list
+ Can cherry pick cantrips from multiple lists (can access Guidance, Vicious Mockery, Minor Illusion, Booming Blade, etc)
    + Magic weapons
    + Ritual capability

    Cons
    - Must be raging to make use of Rage Casting
    - Effectively has 3 spell slots per day
    - Rituals are poor
