Is "disingenuous" a personal attack?
Do the mods consider using the word "disingenuous" a personal attack? This came up in a thread the other day, that it's pretty much always a personal attack. But it gets used all the time, and it seems like some people think honestly think it isn't a personal attack, but rather a counter point against an argument.
Seems like it would fall under two rules against flaming, even if it was supposedly directed at the argument and not the person.
- Comments that, while directed at another's post content, are inherently insulting to the poster, such as, "Your comment is moronic/insane/nonsensical."
- Comments that accuse other posters of lying, being deliberately obtuse, being or acting ignorant, or similar inherently insulting attacks on others’ good faith.
(Also "not arguing in good faith" gets used a lot too.)

Re: Is "disingenuous" a personal attack?
Sheriff: Calling someone (or their argument) "disingenuous" or "not in good faith" seems to violate that last point in most circumstances. If someone's point is inapt, you can say so without visiting their intentions, which is both insulting and inflammatory.
