This is a good point, and we can also add the liquid-hydrogen jets that the Lockheed Skunk Works tried to develop after WWII. The technology was feasible, but tricky to work with, and the lack of a pre-existing infrastructure for hydrogen fuel meant the technology was never widely adopted.

Interesting parallel, but I don't remember the Wakandans wearing armor per se, just Black Panther himself (and one flash-in-the-pan pretender). Even for Wakanda, it's probably beyond the resources of an ordinary citizen to have a personal panther suit, since it takes a genius princess with a government-subsidized lab to produce even two of them.

Also, I'm not sure if you can really describe Mandalorians as isolationist, since they're widely known and active throughout the galaxy--pretty much the opposite of how Wakanda traditionally rolls.
