    As he shrouds Faldar in a protective illusion, Greven can see a look of confusion on the mul's face, hesitating in his attack. It's difficult to tell on his face's expression of confusion and rabid fury whether he felt the mental thrust at all. Sticky, bubbling black sludge begins to seep from the stonework beneath the feet of the giant marking his path, as Greven and the vicar move safely away from the melee.

    Then the tolling of the black bell can be heard, and the mul in front of Faldar suddenly freezes, clutching his chest and nearly keeling over as his heart skips a beat. The berserker pounds a fist into his chest and something kicks back into rhythm as he gasps in relief, sweat beading on his forehead.

    Sickly earth begins to form around the dwarf squaring off with the kreen, who are caught between a rock and a hard place. The dwarf doesn't seem to want to be in the rampaging giant's path any more than they do, and breaks off from the melee to fall back around the corner. The Hand is off after him like a bolt, leaping over the fallen ganger, and the dwarf's startled shout can be heard as the kreen swiftly catches up with him.

    The sand from the pillars has lost its power, but there is enough sand in the cell for him to Mold Earth a new piece of cover using the spell, and then manipulate that on the fly going forward.

    Lazaar casts Toll the Dead, dealing 12 damage to Mul Rabble, Blooding him. He Sickening Razes the dwarf next to Ptekme.

    Dwarf Rabble disengages and moves away.

    The Hand claws Dwarf Rabble for 10 and 1 damage, bloodying him.

    Zantos and Faldar's crews are up.

    The elves let the giant pass, instead focusing on the two Mul Rabble behind it, weaving their arrows behind the giant to reach their targets. They first try to drop the one by Faldar, then the one by Bontar. Then they get ready to follow the giant after they shoot.

    A drop of sweat slowly makes it down Faldars forehead as he intently stares at the giant. "It worked! We've got ourselves a guide to Korno! Do not harm him, for it will awaken him. Let's finish up here and follow! Ptekme, you look terrible and ....." While maintaining his focus on the giant, Faldar steps away from the mul near him and unleashes a mindblast in his direction. "BONTAR!!! LEAVE THE GIANT!! GET THE MUL!!!" Faldar desperatly tries to get through to the bloodhungry Bontar.

    The heavily wounded thri-kreen looks at the oncoming giant with a calculated, unemotional look. He takes out his potion and drink it, before darting past the giant to Faldars side.

    Bontar is about to hammer into the giant when a faint, but familiar sound penetrates his raging consciousness, which is filled with screams, and a buzzing like a nest of angry hornets. He only barely manages to redirect his attack to the mul next to the giant. Further intrigued by the voice he tries to calm himself down, so he can understand it better.

    Two arrows flick into the mul menacing Faldar through the bars, but the rabid slave gladiator's eyes are filled only by primal hate. As Faldar backs away, the mul stares in befuddlement at the strange crystalline cocoon, distracted long enough for the psion to get away.

    Downing a potion, Ptekme feels refreshed, and the strange tingling sensation of his shell regrowing rapidly causes him to shudder as he ducks past the giant, out of its way. With both thri-kreen vacated from his path, Grump lowers his weapon and marches forward with malicious intent. His pace picks up as he goes, like a runaway wagon sailing down a sloped trail, a bone-shaking roar accompanying his fading footfalls.

    Bontar slams his hammer against the bars, the sound rattling the mul on the other side and shaking him momentarily as the dwarf's senses exit the tunnel of violence that had overtaken him. The mul seems torn between braving the magical inferno that these spellcasters seem to have conjured and continuing to fight. Ultimately, he casts aside any thought beyond his opponent and jabs both clubs through the bars at Bontar.

    Faldar's provokes from Mul Rabble while moving away and his hit for 7 damage. However, he passes Concentration to maintain the Suggestion. The illusion prevented the AoO by breaking line of sight.
    Faldar Mindblasts Mul Rabble for 9 damage, for a KO.
    Ptekme drinks a potion, healing for 5, and is no longer Bloodied.
    Bontar damages Mul Rabble for 6 after resistance. Bontar then ends his rage.

    Mul damages Bontar for 4 with an offhand attack, but his mainhand attack misses.

    Greven focused his efforts on the raging killer. He hurled two spectral claws to throttle and tear the warrior apart while he advanced with his peer.

    Qoheleth advanced, bit at the downed mul at the bars to end his existence, and then retrograded. He gestured, swirling the Silt to life, and formed a pillar that moved to protect him from his enemy's blows.

    Lazaar advanced behind his screen of prophets. He chanted and another bell tolled around the remaining beserker, seeking to clear the way for the elves to follow after the tarry tread of the giant.

    Greven had an illusory cocoon around Faldar's old position via Minor Illusion last turn. It should still remain in that spot.
    Greven BA Chill Touch: (1d20+5)[15] to hit, (1d8)[8] necrotic (if crit: (1d8)[2]) and cannot regain HP over the next turn.
    Casts Chill Touch: (1d20+5)[24] to hit, for (1d8)[6] necrotic (if crit: (1d8)[8]) and cannot regain HP over the next turn.
    Greven moves forward to remain behind the line of archers.

    Qoh's Curse of Black Sands continues to mark Grump.
    He moves foward 25ft to BA bite the downed mul. (1d20+2)[6] or (1d20+2)[15] (advantage), for two death save fails due to insta crit. Should kill him on a hit (or restart his death saves if stable).
    Moves back 5ft and casts Mold Earth on the silt to create a pillar. Free moves it into the square in front of him at the bars.

    Lazaar moves forward, casts Toll the Dead on the beserk killer who remains conscious, distant/sicken razes the dwarven mul in the hall on the left to increase his exhaustion by two (I added the square of defilement to the map). Wis 13 or the beserker takes (1d12)[3] necrotic.

    A pair of skeletal hands flies out through the bars, wrapping around the mul's throat and beginning to throttle him. He levitates there in the air, grasping to them until his limbs go limp, grey discoloration spreading across his skin from the neck. When the brief spell fades, he flops to the ground, wheezing breath the only sound hinting that his motionless body is not dead. Lazaar ensures that does not remain the case, the tolling of the bell heralding the last death rattle.

    As the last of their enemies in the cell block expire, Hand steps around the corner ahead of them and motions with a claw for them to move up.

    Qoheleth executes Mul Rabble with a bite.

    Hand retaliates with a 5 damage hit, and then another hit while the Dwarf Rabble is down for 2 failed death saves.

    Mul Gladiator crit fails a death save and dies on its own.

    All visible enemies are down or dead, but we remain in Initiative, as Grump's ruckus is drawing more attention.

    Zantos drops the magical image of a fire. Seeing the surrounding enemy defeated, the elves bound out of their rooms and follow after the giant.

    Faldar quickly follows Zantos, while scanning the party. "Alright, seems we are all still here. Please distribute some of the healing potions, Bontar, Qoheleth and Ptekme need them most I think. Especially Bontar, I want him tanking Korno. Or at least fight Korno head on."

    Bontar nods with a smile. His eyes show eagerness as he looks forward to the fight. "It'll be like old times, some good old times."

    The warband begins to move forward, and their phantom flames dispel with a silent fwoosh. To their left as they walk down the worked stone passage, they see a well slotted into a nook in the wall. Inside is crystal clear water drawn from some underground spring or reservoir. Grump's trail leads straight ahead, the passage dimly lit by torchlight, their flames flickering and dancing in the air currents that rush in the giant's wake. Black footprints tread along behind him.

    To their right the hallway branches off in different directions, and the warriors at the fore can see more Killers emerging from adjacent tunnels to investigate. A mul in slave rags carrying a large two-handed bone club points at Faldar, "There! Looks like some noble!" A few scruffy looking humans emerge from nearby him, carrying rocks and slings. The one at the lead winds up and whips a rock down the hall towards Faldar. It loses most of its velocity, thumping into his chest with the force of a sucker punch instead of a deadly projectile. But his concentration on the suggestion spell nearly slips.

    The mul rushes down the hall past his ally, a second one following behind him with a pair of smaller clubs. They take defensive stances with their clubs.

    Zantos and Faldar's crews move up after Grump. During the movement, you can all rearrange some items. Each character can draw and pass one item or potion off as a use item action if you'd like.

    Human Rabble slings at Faldar for 2 damage. He just passes Concentration to maintain his spell against the plink damage.

    Qoheleth led the prophets forth in trace of the others. He called his Silt mound after him like a sluggish acolyte. He then channeled the power of the Grey to unleash on any fool enough to encroach upon the cohort.

    Greven followed the Vicar. He saw Faldar suck wind from the strike. Once more the emissary ensorcelled the wilder with an illusion. This time a burly crystalline golem filled a 5ft diameter around the noble, its many limbs covered in glittering shards positioned to take a charge from the killers. Meanwhile, the dray wilder portioned a section of his mind to slash at an enclosing foe with a spectral hand like the one with which he had throttled the mul's life.

    Lazaar trailed his team, coalescing necrotic energy around his fist to unleash upon the enemy once one came into view. He would hurl the defilement after the blow to further deter assaults.

    Lazaar moves forward 30ft, readies Chill Touch with trigger "when enemy comes into range/view": (1d20+5)[17] to hit, for (1d8)[5] necrotic (if crit: (1d8)[6]). Distance/Sicken raze (sicken if a foe is within 30ft when spell triggers). Distant raze to a square beyond the party (westward most likely).

    Gleaming, an image of a golem poised defensively slowly forms around Faldar, weaving itself into place as if by magic. The Killers are given pause by the sudden appearance. "****, what is that?" "I dunno. Shoot it and see if it moves?" They debate amongst themselves. As they hesitate, the Hand bolts past Faldar and rushes their frontline, slashing and swiping with his claws at the mul at the fore. He manages to avoid being hit, but dodging around seems to be tiring him.

    In no shape for another extended engagement, lest he lose control of his spell, Faldar moves away from the incoming rabble with his bodyguards. The elves remain nearer to the fighting, but take cover after loosing their arrows.

    However, not all is so simple. From one of the side rooms ahead, more Killers file out in the wake of Grump's advance. A cleric of flame wearing bone decorations and totems points, "The intruders are that way! Why are you running?" But the Giant does not answer. Growling, the cleric walks towards them and raises his symbol, conjuring a pit of flame to block their advance. Two humans with slings and rocks emerge alongside him. One of them whips a stone at Bontar, striking his foot painfully. The other whips the sling around his head, waiting for someone to approach.

    Beyond them, as Grump disappears around a corner, more clerics in hoods and armor bearing the marks of Magma emerge, holding their quarterstaves defensively.

    Greven followed the Vicar. He channeled his art to strike the knot of foes in front of them with a blast of soporific might.

    Lazaar continued to trail his team. He understood the need to cut through this blockade, but the wizard did not want to war on two fronts. He conjured another wave of sickly mists to blind and choke the knot of clerics.

    As the enemy approaches down the hall, the prophets are called to action. Having prepared in advance, they unleash a pair of ghastly hands that ink into the chests of the two foremost foes, gripping their hearts and causing them to gasp for air. Greven holds his spell in place and squeezes, the cleric's face going pale as he falls to the ground, the flames extinguished with his consciousness. Lazaar drops his own, instead conjuring a billowing fog in the hallway and enveloping the silhouettes of figures falling over.


    The group can hear the gangers to the north shouting. "They're trying to get to the arena!" "Crap. Cut them off before they get there!" "Hold on, we need help here, this thing is like a monster!" A gurgling follows, and a thump, as the Hand cuts down another of the mob gathered before him.

    Qoheleth uses Healing Word on Bontar for 3 bringing him back up to 5, and drinks a potion for 7, returning him to 12 if his token was correct.
    Greven casts Chill Touch, dealing 6 damage and KOing the Fire Cleric. Greven's Sleep spell puts the two Human Rabble and the Magma Cleric to sleep.
    Lazaar casts Fog Cloud, and Razes the group of unconscious folk.

    Dwarf Rabble bleeds out thanks to Exhaustion.

    The Hand claws Mul Rabble for 2 damage and 12 radiant damage for a KO, then finishes off the downed one with his bonus action.

    Not wanting to shoot blindly into the fog, the elves run back and try to help the Hand. Jiro and Qaba run down the hall first, shooting at the dwarf and then the human rabble closest to the Hand that they can get a good angle on.     A wall of fire erupts down the hallway, the man caught inside tumbling backwards to avoid being burned. The others cast looks of horror behind them, as they are trapped with the 'kreen rapidly tearing through their frontline. An arrow feathers itself into the fallen mul, and another impacts one of the humans in the chest, dropping him to the ground.

    Backs against the fire, the two trapped humans and their friend on the other side loose another volley of sling stones at the Hand, clanging against his armor. When he doesn't go down, the fortunate one on the other side of the flames runs away down the hall.

    Around the corner near the Hand, the elves can hear the grating sound of creaking metal as a cell door is opened, and then the slam of one being shut very quickly. The grunting and snorting of a beast, and the scraping of claw against stone, follow.


    Down the other hallway, Bontar and Ptekme take the reprieve granted by the Prophets to tend to their wounds. The potions restore energy to tired limbs, and Ptekme's cracked and wounded shell begins to mend itself. Reaching out, Faldar fires a blast blindly into the fog, hoping to hit something and hearing an impact of force against flesh. They can hear footsteps through the cloud, but then only silence as the forces remaining inside sleep peacefully - or bleed slowly, as is the case of the flamepriest.

    Two spectral, bony hands sail through the hall, grasping and clawing at the air. The man they grasp at swings his empty sling through them in a panic, dispelling them into mist - but the dark mist hangs around him, visibly chilling him to the bone. The man on the ground clutches his chest and then goes still, while a patch of cursed ground forms around the mul who stubbornly clings to the last shred of life.

    The Hand advances, dispatching one of the men with ease. The other ducks around Hand's second claw, struggling to keep up with the faster, stronger foe. But the warband is cut off from their ally by a large, bony creature that walks into the hall. It is covered in sharp bony crests, and snuffles at the corpses hungrily, but its eyes first turn to the gathering of creatures, hackles raised.

    Zantos quickly creates a new bonfire between himself and the Boneclaw, covering the middle of the hallway.

    "Hopefully that's enough to keep it from following us. We'll have to trust the Hand to find his way back to us."

    Jiro yells to everyone, "Save your arrows. It will take heavier weapons than that to get through its armor."

    Qaba hears his friend but shoots an arrow at the beast anyway, watching it bounce off of its armor, hoping that the shot distracts the monster and keeps it from going after the Hand.

    "Let's catch up with the Giant." The elves then run around the corner to catch up with Faldar's crew.

    The flames at the end of the hall go out, replaced as they spring to life between Zantos and the boneclaw. Qaba gets off a quick shot before ducking around the corner with the other elves to move after the trail of the giant. The arrow breaks against the boneclaw's armor, leaving a small scuff mark. With the wall of fire behind him gone, the young guy Hand is looming over panics and flees, scrambling around the corner.

    The Hand lets him go and turns to face the monster that's emerged behind him.

    Faldar and his retainers move up to the edge of the fog cloud. He tries taking aim at one of the silhouettes inside but can't see if he hit anything.

    Greven mentally assails the hard-hided beast, seeking to disorient the foe. He then follows the others back into the hallway Grump's tarry steps mark. He calls to the others, "Focus your blows on one sleeper at a time, lest they recover and trail us as we advance--probably best to let Bontar rouse them."

    The defiler dismissed the fog, revealing the slumbering forms. He hurled a fire bolt before weaving into the center of the cohort. He preferred not to be in the path of a rampaging beast.

    Qoheleth took his position at the rear once more. He hurled a vial of alchemical flame to further discourage the beast from following the group. He raised his shield for the likely chance it would persist.

    The mental assault slides off of the primitive mind of the creature, which shakes its head around in a brief display of unease before charging forward at the Hand. Lazaar's flame washes over its back, but Qoheleth's flask falls short as it moves away. Before it can get far however, the Hand meets it, leaping upon the creature. He digs his claws into the gaps in its armor around the neck, and sinks his venom-dripping mandibles into one of its eyes. The creature shudders and slumps, the substance quickly taking hold as its body stops responding.


    Ahead of them, the magical fog dissipates, revealing the cluster of enemies slumped against the floor and walls, breathing slowly and peacefully.

    The Hand slashes Boneclaw for 10 damage, and bites it for 2. The Boneclaw fails its save badly, and is Poisoned and Paralyzed by thri-kreen venom.

    Boneclaw fails to break free of the poison on its turn.

    Hearing the Hand engage the Boneclaw instead of chasing the fleeing human rabble, Zantos backs up and drops his concentration on the bonfire. When he does, he sees that the Hand dropped the Boneclaw by himself. He has seen that poison take out people he loved. It's nice to be on the same side as a Thri-Kreen attack this time.

    As the prophets appear from around the corner and seeing Zantos nearby as well, Faldar orders Bontar and Ptekme to start dealing with the sleepers. "Try and take them out in one go. I'll blast them if any of them rise."

    Both Bontar and Ptekme carefully move over to the sleeping enemies, and after a quick glance at eachother, they hit their opponent. Bontar swings his heavy maul at the head of the man in front of him, while Ptekme aims his Chatcka at the enemies throat.

    Bontar's hammer catches on the side of the fallen man's head, but doesn't score a straight on hit to crush his skull. Ptekme leans down and slashes his throat while he lays there, now unconscious beyond just magic, and he begins to bleed out rapidly onto the cursed, ashen stone. With both of them in the way and the enemies on the ground, Faldar isn't able to get off a clear shot, striking the ground instead. But both the man and the cleric next to him soon expire on their own.


    The Hand lets go of the Boneclaw and nods, beginning to move over the creature to follow the rest. Past the hulking monster, Zantos can see one of the fallen get up and try to crawl away, but puts him back on the floor with a casual shot of an arrow.

    Since most active threats are down at the moment, Zantos and Faldar's crews can post contingent actions as well, which I'll carry out unless something changes, like the Boneclaw shaking off the poison.

    The prophets continue to advance behind Faldar, while the elves tend to the armored beast. Greven refined his burgeoning well of psionic might into a focused reserve. Then the emissary, along with his master and the vicar, whispered incantations of pain and swift death, poising them for when reinforcements arrived or one of the gangers rose to flee.

    Greven BA transforms sorcery points into a first level spell slot. Readies Mind Sliver in case a ganger gets up or arrives. (1d6)[4] psychic and reduce (1d4)[2] from the target's next save if they fail DC 13 Int save.

    Lazaar readies Toll the Dead (same conditions). (1d12)[5] necrotic damage on a failed DC 13 Wis save.

    Qoh's Curse of Black Sands continues to mark Grump. Qoh readies Toll the Dead (Same conditions). (1d12)[7] necrotic damage on a failed DC 12 Wis save.
