Ptekme is send back a little, as a rear guard. He'll follow closely while trying to remain hidden, preferably sticking to rooftops.

Passing through the twisting streets of a wealthy district now wallowing in decay, the group can see many shops with rammed in doors, and old banners left in ragged tatters after being scavenged for cloth. In their path to the arena warrens, they come up to a small city park surrounded by a short stone wall. What was once lively, well-tended grass inside grew large and uninhibited - and then slowly withered to a floor of hay and stray that sits in long, crunchy strands.

Once, there was play equipment here for the use of the children of the wealthy merchants and business owners in this area, much like those at the orphanage. The wooden constructions have since been torn down, stripped for raw materials and leaving behind only this decayed patch of former verdance.

Not far past the park is a flower shop overlooking it, with a wooden fence surrounding some planters of the likewise withered brown remains of the shop's beautiful blooms.

Infesting the park and its surrounding buildings are familiar gangers, dressed in the drab scavenged clothing and armor of Korno's Killers. A trio of them are leaning on the stone fence of the park and chatting with one another. The elves creep up, hidden behind the opposite wall.

"Fancy-ass place them rich bastards had, huh?" one of them asks, looking out at the ruined park from beneath his hood. "Sitting right in clear view of where they'd make poor suckers kill each other fer sport." He turns and looks up at the edifice of the arena looming.

"Pfah, meanwhile my little sister was kicking stones around in streets where wild vangals'd come through sometimes," the ganger near him spits into the piles of dry grass. Between them, a half-giant gladiator in piecemeal armor is standing with a large wooden club on his back and scanning the horizon silently. But his eyes pass right over where the elves are without noticing.

At the back of the marching order, Ptekme creeps close to the ground, nearly invisible against the sand and stone. But the prophets are not so blessed. As they're nearing the cover of the building Faldar and Bontar are behind, a mul turns the corner while strolling casually and pauses, staring at Lazaar standing clear in the open. The half-dwarf pulls a club from his belt and points at the hooded prophet, "Who's there?"

Though his face contorts in confusion at Qoheleth's shout from behind the building, the Mul doesn't look fooled by the sudden appearance of the mound of dirt in front of Lazaar. He shouts to the other Killers, "Someone is here! On your guard!"

The other gangers drop into combat stances, using their wall for cover. "Who is it?!" one of them shouts.

"Some kind of psychic - trying to get in my head!" the Mul calls back, clutching his head in one and and snarling, shaking off the ache in the back of his head.

Bontar could still attempt his Deception if he wishes, but with the psychic attack it may not be enough to dissuade violence.

Qaba motions to Bontar to let him know that they saw the three killers along the north wall of the courtyard. He comes back to the main group, using the building as a shield as he rises to the top of it. Once at the top, assuming no one else is up there, he uses the edge of the building as cover from the 3 on the north wall, dropping prone if needed after he shoots.

As the mul shouts towards his friends, Bontar makes his appearance. Using his old glory aura, he radiates with power and gladiatorial prowess, just like he used to when he was young. He carries his heavy maul on his shoulder and looks around searching, seemingly ignoring the mul while he approaches. Looking angrily, he then turns to the mul. "You there! Have you seen my slave? I'm sure she ran this way, she was heading towards the market. She wears a long robe." After which Bontar descibes Lazaars clothes in more detail. "Watch out though, I think she can mess with our heads. You know, one of those psychic types. I'll give you ... my braxat knuckles if you help catch her. I bet she can't handle two of us." Bontar then turns slightly towards the market, waiting for the mul to respond.

Moving up to the side of the building, Faldar launches a cascading wave of energy out across the empty playground. One of the gangers pops his head up to look just in time to take the blast straight to the face, knocking off of his feet. Blood spirals out of his nose as he collapses to the ground out of view. The hulking goliath gladiator takes that moment to run past and take cover behind one of the tall stone pillars along the perimeter.

Ptekme does the same, moving past in a flash and finding safety in cover. Shapes can be seen through the windows of the flower shop further ahead, as more of the Killers rush outside to see what the source of the commotion is.

The last man from their group of three is left behind, and looks around in a panic. His hesitation is punished by a shot to the chest by Zantos' arrow, sending him to the ground with his chatty friend. Jiro sees no more targets, but looking into the building behind them can see a pair of dwarves have gotten up from where they'd been sitting and are headed for the door. He takes a shot, but the arrow clatters off of one of their suits of chitin armor.

Qaba's targets all down or in heavy cover, he takes a shot at the exposed ganger caught picking through the wilted flowers. The shot catches the man straight across the chest as he turns, leaving a long bloody cut. He staggers back and panics, fleeing inside. Qaba can see one of the humans leave the distant building and begin to run from the battle, towards their destination.

"Bootlicking traitor!" the emancipated slave screams at Bontar, charging forwards with clubs in both hands. He plows through waves of necrotic energy, flesh across his face and chest withering and turning grey as his eyes and ears bleed from Greven's mental assault. Bontar avoids the pair of wild swings, one breezing just past his head.

Faldar runs into the next spot of cover and, holding a charge of psionic force on his hand, spots a dwarf coming out of the nearby building. The force blast slams against the dwarf's bone carrikal, raised in response. The weapon holds and the dwarf steps up to the corner to jab at Jiro. The blade narrowly misses him, the wind slashing past his cheek.

Not far behind the first dwarf is a second, who saw the attack against his fellow and emerges in a defensive stance, ready for their next one. Zantos' words cause even their dwarven resolve to falter for a moment, and the two of them glance at one another. "... Fine. Let us leave and we'll strike no further," the one squaring off against Jiro offers.

From his spot behind the stone pillar, Ptekme can see the half-giant gladiator sprint out and into new cover behind the building just nearby.

Bontar steps forwards and clips the mul with his hammer. Even a glancing blow is enough to send the ganger spinning around and dropping into the dirt. From the corner behind the mul, a dwarf with a bone carrikal in hand steps out and grimaces, striking out against the old gladiator. The sudden appearance of a new opponent catches him off guard, and the blade leaves a bloody scratch across his front.

Qaba takes aim across the battlefield, his sharp elven eyes zeroing in on their target. The arrow sails through the air and drifting sand, thudding square into the man's back. He falls forward and lands facefirst on the ground in a billow of dust.

As they lower their weapons, the dwarves are hurled backwards by thunderous force, the furious boom audible to everyone on the battlefield. To the north, Faldar and the elves can see the ganger Qaba had shot near the flower garden, climbing out of a window and trying to hobble away from the scene.

From the flower shop, a cleric wearing bone armor and bearing the mark of the flame emerges. He weaves a protective spell around himself, appearing like a corona of flame and heat.

The prophets remain behind their makeshift barricades, launching spells out at the dwarf. One of the clawing spectral hands impacts Bontar in the back by mistake; its deathly touch does not do much, but is hard to shrug off as he feels the pull of the grave. The dwarf in front of him is having a worse time, his skin starting to lose color as the necrotic magic saps his life force.

The sound of the door to the building beside Bontar swinging open a second time announces someone else emerging.

Qaba looks down from the roof to Faldar, Ptekme and the other elves, "Bontar needs help. I'm going there. There's also another one trying to get away to the north, but I can't hit him from up here." Qaba then moves north shooting down upon the fire cleric form the edge of the building before backing up enough to use the roof as cover from any retaliation, crouching down if needed.

Knowing that Faldar is too slow to get to the corner to help Bontar, Jiro looks over to Faldar and Ptekme, "If you move over this way a little, you can get the one trying to flee. We'll go help Bontar."

Bontar grunts angrily when he get hit, his youthful appearance fades as his face grimaces. As he then gets hit in the back he steps to the side and shoot an angry look at the prophets. His attention immediatly shifts back to the dwarf that hurt him. Barely containing his rage he heaves his maul and tries to crush the dwarf beneath it.

Meanwhile Faldar and Ptekme are unaware of how Bontar is doing. As Ptekme spots the gladiatrix, he realises she has moved into striking range. As soon as she disappears around the corner, he runs over and throws his Chatkcha, hoping to strike in the back. Faldar follows quickly after, seeing no enemies nearby. When he approaches the corner of the building, he notices the Fire Cleric chanting and some bad memories come rising above. "We need to kill that one, the chanter. They are dangerous!" After which he shows the way by throwing an mindblast it's way.

Moving up, Faldar and Ptekme launch their projectiles at the Killers north of the small home. The psionic blast flies past the cleric of flame, but Ptekme's chatchka slices into the large gladiator's chitin armor and sticks him in the side. The half giant howls in defiance and charges at Ptekme, lifting up a warpick. The pick drives through Ptekme, and the kreen staggers and falls off of the blade.

Bontar steps out of cover and heaves his maul, slamming down on the other dwarf. The dwarf's body crumples like a bunched up spring beneath the maul, and a second dwarf behind tosses a pelota from a dejada gauntlet wrapped around one arm. The spiked ball slams into Bontar's chest and sticks there, spikes embedded in his flesh. His head spins and he falls forwards with a heavy thud.

Two gladiatrix emerge from inside the flower shop, javelins in hand. "Everyone, hold it together!" one of them shouts. One of them hurls a javelin at Faldar, but the weapon clatters against the park gate acting as cover for the nobleman. The other tries to arc a javelin up at Qaba, but it's too far and too hard a throw, and it strikes the edge of the roof, falling down.

Just as Jiro and Zantos prepare to hop the fence around the unkempt park, there is a shout from behind Jiro. One of the dwarves he'd hurled away comes charging at him with their weapon, slashing across his back.

No sooner has the dwarf returned to battle, than Zantos' arrow pins him in the chest. He stumbles back, giving Jiro the opening to grab his staff and jab it into the dwarf's eye. Left with a bruised black eye and a bleeding arrow sticking out of his fresh wound, the dwarven man falls backwards again into the dirt.

Qaba's shot lines up, and his arrow slashes across the cheek of the Fire Cleric chanting prayers in the middle of the street. The man spits out blood and grimaces, conjuring a plume of flame from beneath Qaba on the rooftop, but avoids anything more than a singed brow. Seeing the exposed position he's in, the cleric turns and seeks cover inside the flower shop. "Somebody get us some backup!" he shouts.

Move the sand pillars forward and to the side to allow the prophets to advance. Qoh will lead and establish a new pillar with his mold earth. Greven will advance and cast both spells as intended on the dwarven thug around the corner. Lazaar will ready his spell for if/when a ganger appears around the corner.

The Prophets advance behind their cover, molding a new mound out of the earth at the edge of the building. Greven's psionics seize a foothold in the dwarf's mind and he pushes - hard. Just in the right places. The dwarf gasps and doubles over as the hideous migraine wracks his body. In spite of the pain, he charges ahead and leaps on top of the mound of dirt, drawing a wickedly curved bone scimitar from his belt. The sharpened edge flashes in front of Qoheleth's eyes, mere inches from the end of the snout beneath his hood.

Qoheleth creates new cover with Mold Earth.
Greven uses Mind Sliver twice on Dwarven Thug, dealing 10 damage total, Bloodying him. Rolled for the second save deduction, he has -4 on his next save.
    Lazaar readies Toll the Dead.

Dwarven Thug moves in, triggering the readied spell. He manages to resist it despite the penalty. He swings at Qoheleth, dealing 5 damage.

It is Faldar and co's turn.

Bontar opens his eyes and struggles back on his feet. The disturbed dust from him falling down hadn't even settled yet. Instinctually rather then rationally he swings his maul in an attempt to hit the dwarf in front of him. Much unlike Bontars normal fighting style, he does this without shouting, as he is clearly shaking up by the whole experience of going down and getting back up.

At the same time, Ptekme undergoes a similar experience as Faldar uses some of his healing ability to restore some vitality in the critically downed thri-kreen. Unlike Bontar however, this is not the first time Ptekme has gone down and his body responds immediatly, without conscious effort. The wound heals shut as he gets up and starts tearing into the half-giant gladiator in front of him.

While Faldar holds out one his hands and get Ptekme back on his limbs, his mind focuses on the half-giant. He starts taunting the gladiator by insulting him, hoping to at least cause him a headache. "You know, you're pitiful. You're not half the man your mother is. The way I see it, putting teeth in your mouth ruined a perfectly good *******."

As soon as the light descends upon him, Ptekme is up like a flash, fully rejuvenated - nor nearly rejuvenated. The gladiator shakes off Faldar's words as the psionics lacing them try to worm into his mind, but he clearly wasn't expecting Ptekme to be back up so soon. The claws of the kreen slash apart his chest. Falling to one knee, the gladiator looks at the ground with a stunned face. But resolve hardens in his eyes, and he surges up with an uppercut from his pick. The swing is wild, though, and clumsy. It sweeps through thin air as Ptekme evades.

One of the gladiatrixes tosses a javelin at Ptekme, sailing between two of his arms and just barely not sticking into him. The other draws a dagger in her off hand and rushes towards Faldar, but her swing clatters against the stonework next to him and her bone weapon shatters. "Bastard!"
