    Partway down the shaft, Zantos tries to drop down, but one of his knees skids against the wall and throws off his balance. The elf lands flat on his back, knocking the wind out of him, in the dimly torch-lit tunnels below. He is lying on worked stone, as Jaba and Qaba emerge next to him.

    They find themselves in worked stone tunnels, inside of a cell. The cell door is unlocked, and they hear movement behind them at the back of the cell. A man in loose clothes and bone totems, who Jiro recognizes as a Cleric of Fire, stirs from a blanket where he'd been resting and quickly starts scampering to his feet. In the cell across from them they can see two more gladiators resting in their improvised sleeping quarters, but they've not yet awoken from the noise.

    Qaba and Jiro move carefully down the ventilation shaft. Zantos does at first but tries to move more quickly over the last 10 feet, losing his balance and landing on his face. He looks up and sees the cleric in front of him just as the other two make it down.

    A bull-like beast with sharp teeth appears next to the fire cleric. The Tembo, looks towards its prey and opens its mouth, revealing two rows of very sharp teeth.

    "Surrender and I won't let it hurt you."

    Faldar's group begins climbing down after the elves. Ptekme descends swiftly with his many limbs, arriving at the bottom, while Faldar and Bontar nearly arrive at the bottom. The cleric waking up turns and looks at the image of the tembo looming over him, teeth bared, performing a desperate roll away in his half-awake state and grabbing for his flame totem. "What is this?" he asks, hand clasped around the totem and glaring at the intruders in a mix of fear, confusion and anger. He's instinctively backed himself into the corner.

    As the group threatens the cleric, a human man in a hood hurries over to the cell from down the hall. He stares inside at the scene in shock, which only escalates with what happens next. Slick grease floods down into the vent from above and Faldar and Bontar come tumbling out on top of Zantos, sliding on along the slippery walls. Fortunately, that shock gives them a moment before he can gather himself enough to call out a warning.


    "They're trying to get below!" one of the gladiatrix outside shouts in command. "Element-speaker! Get over here and divide them!"

    Up above, the prophets remain at their held position as more of the camp closes in. The nearest magma cleric runs through the fog cloud, looking out carefully for any sign of the Braxat, but it has since disappeared. Holding aloft his totem, he commands, "Black blood of the ancient earth, bubble forth!"

    A slick, dark oil begins to coalesce around the pried open vent. It runs down the sides of the walls, dripping below and hampering any attempts to climb down. As he hunkers behind the cover of the silt pillars, Qoheleth feels an impact strike the top of his head at an angle, glancing off and doing little more than startle him - a blast from the first psion who'd noticed their appearance and attacked.


    Moving in behind the frontline defenders, occupied looking inwards, Greven arrives. The Hand is not far behind, moving swiftly despite his armor.

    Ptekme climbs all the way down.
    Faldar reaches 25 feet down, just above Zantos' head.
    Bontar reaches 20 feet down, above Faldar in the vent.

    Fire Cleric Disengages from the illusion, wasting his action.
    Magma Cleric casts Grease on the vent's area, spilling inside and making the walls slick. Faldar and Bontar slide down on top of Zantos. Zantos and Faldar suffer 3 damage each as Faldar falls on top of Zantos. Faldar suffers 5 damage, and Bontar 4, as Bontar falls on top of Faldar.
    (The walls are now too slippery to climb)
    Killers Psi Warrior uses Eldritch Blast on Qoheleth, hitting for 6 damage.

    It is Lazaar and co.'s turns. Greven has now arrived at the edge of the map, and may also act this turn.

    "Speech.".

    Lazaar hissed in their native tongue, "Vrikoh". A new cloud of ashen smoke swirled around the tunnel entrances, obscuring the area around the prophets.

    Qoheleth understood the command. He ushered the pillars down the hole, abrading a trail through the greased shaft. Lazaar followed carefully, seeking to use the gritted walls to slow his pursuit of the silt. Meanwhile, the vicar strode forward and called upon the Grey to consume their foes. "The Grey rot your sustenance and the Silt gnaw your bones!"

    He then retreated to prepare to cover Greven's arrival. The emissary darted forward behind the cover of the palisade, making directly for the entrance. He mentally contacted his master, "My mission concluded successfully. I shall enter the palisade swiftly."

    "Expect hostilities. The vicar prepares to seal the way."

    Lazaar casts fog cloud over their position, distance razing a section of soil along the route of the oncoming reinforcements.

    Qoheleth moves the pillars down the tunnel, seeking to silt the grease and enable transit down the vent. He then moves down-right ten feet to Channel Divinity Feast of Ashes: (1d10+2)[10] necrotic damage and a DC 12 Con save vs suffering two levels of exhaustion as they becoming famished. That should catch the four frontliners in a 30ft arc from this position. He then retreats 20ft to the token position on the map.

    Lazaar moves down the tunnels "carefully" (assuming the silt pillars abrade the grease).

    Greven dashes and minor illusions a crate over his position as he makes for the tunnel entrance. I'm assuming the palisade blocks sight.

    At Qoheleth's baleful prophesizing, his foes writhe in pain and grip their stomachs. The dwarf foolish enough to stand too near doubles over, vomiting up stomach acid and black ash into the sand. A new cloud of fog begins to coalesce around the vent, obscuring the prophets from view.

    There are two defiant yells as the gladiatrixes dash into the fog after them. The two move to flank Qoheleth's lone silhouette in the fog, but one of them fails to see the tunnel entrance and stumbles in, falling onto her side.


    A torrent of sand pours down the vent, spilling upon Zantos' head, though it inflicts no harm beyond annoyance. The sand coats the walls and the elf, sticking to the grease that covers them and lending grip back to the climb. Lazaar begins making his way down under cover.

    Outside of the cell, another voice shouts from down the hall. "What in the Grey is going on in there?" More footsteps announce Killers coming to investigate the noise.


    Meanwhile, Greven and the Hand slip alongside the palisade towards their tunnel. The kreen soon outpaces him, slipping into the cover of the underground and out of view while the guards are distracted by Qoheleth's hex.

    Qoheleth flows sand into the vent.
    Qoheleth uses Feast of Ashes, catching two Killers Gladiatrixes and a Psi Warrior (and the buried Gladiator), dealing 10 necrotic damage. The Psi Warrior fails his save and suffers 2 Exhaustion. All of them are Bloodied.
    Lazaar casts another Fog Cloud and begins descending the vent. The sand clears away the grease along the walls, allowing him to move 10 feet down safely. The shaft now functions as normal.
    Greven Metal Gear Solids underneath an illusory crate, just past the palisade. The palisade is not very well made, but still largely obscures sight.

    Killers Gladiatrix moves into the grease, passing her save vs slipping. She Dashes to Qoheleth and draws her dagger, but cannot attack.
    The other Killers Gladiatrix moves to flank Qoheleth, but does not see the tunnel hole and falls prone inside.

    The Hand dashes into the tunnel. This blocks Greven from moving past him, but means he will emerge first into the fight.

    It is now Zantos' and Faldar's crews' turns. Faldar and Bontar are prone from their fall.

    Map is now on the lower floor. Lazaar is in the tunnel 20 feet above Zantos. Zantos is covered in grease and sand and everyone is kind of in a heal, but he maintained spell concentration through it all.

    As he lands on four of his limbs, Ptekme quickly look around and rolls behind Qaba and moving out of sight from the ganger in the doorway. Quickly after, Faldar and Bontar make a less gracious entrance into the underground cell. They fall down, with Faldar landing on top of Bontar. After seeing the undignified face of Bonta, Faldar refrains from thanking him and just quickly gets up on his feet.

    As his eyes follow the sound of arrows finding targets, Faldar quickly unleashes his own ranged weapon and mindblasts the fire cleric.

    As Qaba moves across the room, Ptekme shadows him and leaps out the ganger in the doorway as they pass.

    Bontar just gets up and grabs his maul, while moving to support Ptekme at the door, while throwing a confused look at the Tembo in the room. "I'll get him alright. ... Is that thing yours?"

    Lazaar continued to slither down the shaft, careful to not descend into a crossfire. He waited for the team members to clear out of the exit.

    Greven hunkered into the hole's entrance and maneuvered to follow the kreen. He gestured toward the fog cloud and a panicked shrieks erupted, "Scorched bones! They have a--! Black gods! *Splinch* Frickin' 'pede! A primal howl pierces the mist like some great and terrible beast.

    Qoheleth heard the killer advance in the heavily obscuring mist, as well as the thud of a second falling into the hole. The sudden shrieks and primal howls cued him into Greven's arrival at the tunnels. The time grew short. He maneuvered around the killer, seeking to lure her away from the tunnel. He lashes with his teeth before slinking clockwise around the vent.

    "Expect hostilities. The vicar prepares to seal the way."

    A creature effectively suffers from the blinded condition when trying to see something in that area.
    Lazaar casts fog cloud over their position, distance razing a section of soil along the route of the oncoming reinforcements.

    A pair of arrows whip from their bows and stick into the cleric's torso, a third clattering against the stone beside his head. He slumps to the ground, delirious for the few moments before he passes out from shock. Spinning around and to his feet, Faldar fires a bolt of psionic energy that slams into the chest of the young man outside the door.

    Utilizing the chaos, and Bontar's intimidating charge, Ptekme slips up next to the door before the ganger can recover and reaches out, claws digging into his chest viciously. Not quite able to rip the beating heart from his chest, Ptekme still manages to sink his claws deep enough to pierce the organ, and the human slips off of his fingers to the floor, dead.

    In the cell across the hall, one of the sleeping gladiators starts awake from the noise and swiftly kicks his buddy in the shin, kipping up to his feet and grabbing his parma from nearby, the other doing likewise once he realizes what's going on.

    Up at the door, Bontar and Ptekme get a good view of the hall outside in both directions. Worked earth tunnels lead both ways, with a mul gladiator advancing from one direction and two poorly equipped street gangers from the other. One of the gangers comes up to the door, standing over his bleeding friend, and glares at Ptekme with hateful eyes as he aims to jab the kreen with his club. His clumsy attack is easily evaded, leaving him open.

    The mul proves more able, striding confidently to confront Bontar and drawing his scimitar in the same motion that leaves a shallow upwards cut up the dwarf's front. Twirling the weapon, the mul assumes a readied stance. "You're getting slow, old man," the mul taunts, clearly recognizing Bontar, though Bontar does not recognize his foe.


    Meanwhile, above, Qoheleth feels a flash of heat as the grease ignites, lit by another spell from the magma's devout. But the fog is preventing anyone outside from getting a good shot at him, and the hellish shrieks Greven conjures in the fog keeps them from getting too curious about following him inside. A snap of his teeth lands upon air, the humid taste of the fog cloud settling on his tongue as the vicar circles his opponent - only to stumble over the brigands' crude palisade and find himself falling over in one of the worse gaps in the wooden pikes. Hearing him climbing onto the wood, the gladiatrix whips her dagger around, the blade biting into the wood where Qoheleth's torso used to be before he fell. Her fallen companion climbs out of the hole, still dazed, her silhouette poised threateningly with her own dagger in the fog.

    The flames do not travel downwards very well, sparing Lazaar any burns as he continues his climb, before dropping neatly into the room below.


    The Hand moves swiftly through the tunnels ahead of Greven, in a hunched posture that comes naturally to his species.

    Jiro crits Fire Cleric for 5 damage.
    Qaba shoots Fire Cleric for 12 damage, and a KO.

    Faldar's target down, he fires his Mind Blast at the Human Rabble, who takes 9 damage, Bloodying him.
    Ptekme utilizes the chaos to hide, then Sneak Attacks the Human Rabble for 14 damage, enough to kill outright in his poor condition.
    Bontar moves to the door.

    Killers Gladiator wakes up, and nudges the other awake.
    The buried Killers Gladiator in the scene above finally expires.
    Magma Cleric casts Produce Flame, hurling it into the fog to ignite the grease.

    Greven casts Minor Illusion and enters the tunnel.
    Lazaar arrives at the bottom of the vent.
    Qoheleth bites at Killers Gladiatrix, and misses. (No Disadvantage, since both being blinded effectivelt cancels out the Disadvantage)
    As Qoheleth moves northwards onto the rough palisade, he enters difficult terrain. Also being blind, he makes Acrobatics to avoid stumbling over it, but fails and falls Prone just north of the Gladiatrix.

    Killers Gladiatrix attacks Qoheleth, but misses.
    Killers Ganger attacks Ptekme, but misses.

    The Hand Dash-moves down the tunnel, remaining hidden at the opening of the other end.

    Mul Gladiator slashes Bontar for 11 damage, Bloodying him.

    Faldar and Zantos' crews are up.

    As the mul slashes Bontar's chest, Bontar's blood begins to get heated. And when the mul taunts him afterwards, things get to much for him. He flies into a rage, shouting at the mul. "I may be getting older, but you've got a lot to learn!! Now let me split that skull of yours!" Rolling his shoulders, he wildly swings him heavy maul at the mul. Seeming, like he wants to smash it of his shoulders.

    Seeing Bontar get hit and then flying into a rage, worries Faldar. Well aware of the risks his friend is taking, he moves over and heals him.

    Ptekme doesn't really notice Bontar's emotional outburst and concentrates on the ganger in front of him. He draw his chatkcha and slashes at the man.

    A healing hand lays upon Bontar's back, and the old gladiator feels his strength returning as he surges forward, kicking the door open and driving his maul down at the younger gladiator stepping up to challenge him. The mul deftly backsteps his hammer swing, with a stylish twirl of his own scimitar. But the mul's face has grown more serious, seeing Bontar back at full strength.

    Ptekme lashes out around the edge of the door, slashing the ganger just outside. The shallow cut doesn't kill, but draws the ganger to step forward right into one of the three arrows raining past in an elven volley. It burrows into his chest and the man collapses onto his side. From across the hall, the two humans rush to join the battle. One of them hurls a dagger at Bontar, grazing along his beard. The other moves in next to the mul and takes a stab with a puchik that Bontar twists against to keep from leaving more than a nick.

    "You rotten bastards!" a pained, enraged voice calls out from behind, the cleric in the corner leaning against both walls for support as he pulls to his feet. Holding out his holy symbol, he points it at Qaba and the 'tembo'. "By fire be purged!" His zealous words invoke a torrent of fire that washes over them, leaving the illusion unharmed, but Qaba less so.

    Down the hall two poorly armed mul emerge with bone clubs from the same room as the mul gladiator. One of them rattles the bone against the bars of the cell across from theirs'. "Oi, Grump! Wake up!" A loud snort and cough can be heard from inside.


    Up above, the Killers hang around the edges of the fog cloud, hesitant to cluster inside, particularly with the glare of the fire still going. "They've breached the warrens! Someone go warn the arena!" one of them shouts, followed by footsteps moving away.

    Greven hissed to the kreen softly, relying on the image Lazaar pressed into his mind, "Quickly, the shaft is five paces left of the opening."

    The emissary allowed the Hand. He added to the cacophony with another bout of psionic misdirection. So many...effing arms!...immune to fire...ahhh!"

    Greven then waits for the Kreen to scurry its moving blockade into the vents.

    Qoheleth heard the shifting shrieks but awaited the key phrase the Grey and crawled toward the vent. He bit the gladiatrix, prodding her fallen form toward the ring of fire to cushion his advance toward the vent.

    Lazaar lowers on the ground to discover a massing of foes and a lurking cleric. He releases a barrage of black dragons, which coil and streak towards their targets unerringly. He then closes to lean over the cleric and rip his throat open. He turns and shouts, "Swiftly slay the rabble!"

    The stone beneath the Mul and his compatriots sickens and pales to an ashen hue.

    Greven casts Arms of Dregoth Hadar: DC13 Strength save for everyone within 10ft of Greven when he kips out of the hole to the southeast of the exit. (2d6)[6] necrotic damage and cannot take reactions on a fail; half damage on a save. Hides
    BA: minor illusions more shrieks of terror and the sounds of a megapede horror using his wild talent ease.
    He then moves into the vent to the tunnel exit.

    Qoheleth BA bites at the gladiatrix: (1d20+3)[14] for (1d4+1)[4] (if crit: (1d4)[2] ) piercing damage.
    He crawls (moving prone) near to the vent entrance.
    Casts Earth Tremor on the ground 10ft around his position (which is the top of the vent): Anyone in that area must make a DC 12 Dex save vs suffering (1d6)[6] bludgeoning damage and fall prone. The ground in that area becomes difficult terrain, and I suspect collapses a portion of sapper tunnel.

    Lazaar lowers and casts magic missile: (1d4+1)[3] force damage to the fire cleric; (1d4+1)[3] to the Mul facing Bontar; and (1d4+1)[2] force damage to the mul again or the next frontliner killer.
    Move toward (presumably downed) fire cleric.
    BA bite the cleric to ensure he stays down: (1d20+2)[22] (1d20+2)[6] (advantage), auto crits if he is unconscious for two death save fails on a hit.
    Distance razes and sicken razes the Mul with his closest friends.

    Edited in the actions for this round.

    Biting onto the heel of the gladiatrix standing over him, Qoheleth drags her to the ground and she hits her head, passing out. He crawls through the fire, his scales absorbing the worst of the sweltering heat as he crawls through the fog and into the hole.


    Below, Lazaar weaves his magic, sending out a trio of dark spectres. One blasts into the cleric, who slumps back against the wall and slides down it. Lazaar steps forward and bites into the man's throat, savagely dragging him closer to death to ensure he does not rise again. Two more spectres slam into the Mul, knocking him off balance, but the sturdy gladiator was born to take a beating and remains standing.

    Greven moves ahead with the Hand, but doesn't have enough movement to get out of the tunnel yet to do his Arms of Dregoth thing. I'll include an image of the map if you want to change his action.
    Qoheleth bites Killers Gladiatrix for 4 damage, enough to KO. He crawls through the fire (and the flames!) and 5 feet down into the vent, taking 2 damage from the fire after resistance. I'll wait to resolve Earth Tremor as well depending on your thoughts after seeing the map.
    Lazaar casts Magic Missile, dealing 3 damage to the Fire Cleric, 3 to the Mul Gladiator, and 2 more to the Mul Gladiator. Do you want to put the Defiling area anywhere on top of the enemy?
    Lazaar bites the Fire Cleric for two failed Death Saves.

    Qaba passes his save against the Burning Hands, and is only Bloodied instead of KO'd.

    I'll hold off on more until some contingencies with Theo resolve. Sorry for not posting a map for the top guys with the last post.

    More shrieks from within, and the smell of burning flesh as Qoheleth drags his assailant into the flames with him, gives the Killers outside greater pause. "Everyone except the messenger hold, wait until the smoke clears," someone can be heard commanding his comrades.

    Stumbling around in the cloud, the last Gladiatrix searches for Qoh, but instead finds her ally burning in the fire and drags her out. While her back is turned, the Hand climbs out of the tunnel and drags her to the ground, ripping into her with instinctive precision. Her cry of surprise is cut short, lending further credit to Greven's deceptions.


    Below, the threat from behind is swiftly dealt with and efforts turn once more to the bottleneck at the hall. The ground beneath them turns grey and ashen, and most of their foes now stand slackened and weak. The mul pushes through the struggle and takes a mocking stance, regaining his bravado as he slashes and dances, ever only a centimeter from cutting into Bontar. His mockery is cut short as in his focus on the duel he takes two arrows from the elves through the cell bars, staggering. "Bloody archers," he curses, as his death looms.

    Zantos advances to the fore, a frosty field of energy forming around him inches from his skin.

    As Ptekme's nearest opponent goes down, he moves out into the hallway, trying not to make any sudden moves and strikes out at the ganger. At the same time, Faldar looks worringly at the developing situation. There are a lot of enemies, and Bontar is ..... well, he is raging and likely to try and take them all on. Quickly, he mindblasts one of the gladiators near Bontar.

    Meanwhile, Bontar is frothing and violently hacking away, trying to cleave the annoying gladiator in two. "WRAAGHH!!"

    Sliding out of the cell around the bars, Ptekme lashes out and his weapon cuts into the ganger's arm, flicking blood across the floor. Faldar moves in where Ptekme once was, backing up his squad with his powers. The blast of psionic force from Faldar impacts the shield of the man squaring off against Bontar, deflecting off as he recoils back. The man lifts up his puchik and lunges for Zantos, shambling forward and weakly failing to make contact. "Black magic... defiler... scum..." the man mutters through chapped, dry lips.

    The second of the previously-napping gladiators backs off out of the patch of cursed earth, plucking up a second dagger to hurl at Zantos. It flies past and skitters along the stone floor.

    Bontar roars with might, his hammer slamming into the metal bars and leaving a deep, bent imprint as the weakened mul staggers weakly out of the way, somehow still managing the audacity to smirk at his fortune.

    The floor rumbles slightly and a powerful yawn draws attention down the hall, where a massive, burly giant ducks out of one of the cells. It shoves the mul who woke it up aside and stretches out as much as it can in the cramped space, rolling a kink out of its neck. "Who interrupt Grump nap?" Reaching a massive arm back into his 'room', Grump pulls out a solid bronze rod that seems to be one of the cell bars that has been ripped out of its place.

    "These ****s come out of the ceiling. They serve the old masters!" one of the two muls answers, which seems to rile Grump up, the giant baring his teeth, each easily the size of a fist.

    "Speech.".

    Greven waits for Hand to complete his journey before maneuvering into the fog. He unleashes tendrils of dark energy as the key phrase shrieks over the ruckus. He moves into the tunnel mouth, assisted by Qoh who crouches near the lip. He mentally messages Lazaar, "We have entered the vent."

    "The Grey! *bloody gasp* Save us!"

    Qoheleth heard the key phrase the Grey and traced the lip of the vent to act as a backstop for the others. The Hand's massive silhouette nearly startled him, but he whispered the challenge to determine friend from foe. Soon after, Greven's slender form manifested in the mist and plunged into the vent. The priest clambered after, calling on the Silt to thwart their foes. A shudder shook the ground around the shaft, radiating fractures and bulges that would be difficult to thread.

    Lazaar reinforces his handiwork on the flame priest as he hears the rumble of what could only be trouble in the hall. The defiler fires a smoky black flame toward the weakened Mul, while the ground under another killer sickens to ash.

    He replied to Greven, "Descend with haste. We face a giant!"

    Qoheleth moves 5ft to the right of the vent entrance to act as a "backstop" to guide teammates into the shaft. Once Hand and Greven pile in, he moves back onto vent entrance (even if that means straddling atm)
    Once everyone is in, he Casts Earth Tremor on the ground 10ft around his position (top of the vent): Anyone in that area must make a DC 12 Dex save vs suffering (1d6)[5] bludgeoning damage and fall prone (unconscious characters auto fail dex saves if that applies). The ground in that area becomes difficult terrain, and I suspect collapses a portion of sapper tunnel.

    Climbing out of the vent singes Qoheleths feet, like standing upon hot coals, as his silhouette motions the last of their warband towards the vent. Hand's chittering kreen answers his challenge, giving one of two possibilities for who it is - unless the Killers suddenly started recruiting kreen.

    Emerging from the other tunnel entrance, Greven draws slithering tendrils of grey energy that wreath around the two dying gladiatrixes, and around Hand's ankles - though the thri-kreen seems to barely notice. The two women gag and twitch on the ground, one of the expiring from the strain. The other follows close behind. Skirting around the fire, Hand skitters into the tunnel, and Qoheleth climbs out of the flames onto the kreen's shoulders. The earth around them rumbles and swells, creating a broken ring of stone and clay around the vent entrance. Their tunnel under the palisade collapses, taking a small section of the wooden stakes with it and burying the two dead gladiatrixes in the sinkhole.


    One final bite and Lazaar finishes off the cleric of flame, before dropping his veil back into place. Red blood stains the cloth from the inside, and drips down his chin, as he saps the earth and stone and turns it sickly and ashen. From his outstretched hand, a dark flame scorches the already worn and weakened mul gladiator. The gladiator heaves a breath inside of his battered body and desperately swings again and again at Bontar, each one more tired than the last, nothing seeming to connect with the veteran dwarf. Disheartened, the mul turns his back on his foe and attempts to flee into the cell across the hall before he's caught between a giant and a hard place.

    In the hall, Ptekme hears a clatter of stone on stone and a rock skitters past his feet. A dwarf has rounded the corner behind him, with a warpick over his shoulder and a sack of rocks on his belt. Ptekme's bleeding foe circles around off of the cursed earth, parrying his claw with a club and then lashing out with the bottom of the weapon, glancing off of Ptekme's chitinous face plates.

    Qoheleth moves out of the vent, suffering 2 fire damage as he waits for the others, Readying an action to follow them in and use Earth Tremor.
    Greven hops out 5 feet east of the tunnel and casts Arms of Dregoth, dealing 1 damage to Hand after he passes his save, and 1 failed death save to each of the Gladiatrixes. One of them perishes.
    Greven then enters the vent, making it 5 feet down.

    As the wounded gladiator runs off, Bontar shouts a victorious warcry. "WRAAAAGHH!! Run you insect! Mighty Bontar will crush you if you stay here." ... even though he didn't hit him himself. He spins his maul over his head, while his bloodshot eyes look around for his next victim. Quickly he spots one. It seems kinda small, but Bontar doesn't care. He runs at the gladiotors and brings his maul down with an overhead swing.

    With a quick jab and a strike with his claws, Ptekme tries to end the ganger in front of him. Realising he moved forward a bit to quickly, he would much rather return back into the shadows.

    While his two bodyguards remain unaware of the impending danger, Faldar quickly spots it. The rowdy giant is hard to miss, even in the chaos of battle. Nervously Faldar looks to his fellow casters. "We can't face this thing head on. Things go splat if it comes close!" He hides behind the wall and tries to take out the last of the standing gladiators and gangers.

    Leaning back as Zantos' scimitar whistles through the air in front of his face, the human standing in front of the cell door stabs at Bontar as he runs past. The puchik blade finds an opening and draws blood, but Bontar scarcely notices as he pushes out of the bottleneck. Then an arrow slices into him, from Jiro's bow, nearly causing him to fall to the ground. Just as the man turns around to face the crowded cell again, he comes face to face with Faldar's outstretched palm and a psionic blast point blank sends him sprawling out on the ground.

    Ptekme's foe is faring better, Qaba's arrow clattering against the stonework as he fends off the kreen's claws. But there are more limbs to defend against than he has to defend with - one slashing claw grazes his chest, pushing past and overpowering him as he struggles to reassert control of the melee.

    Plunging into the cell across the hall, Bontar catches the gladiator in the shoulder with a mighty blow, the pop of a dislocated limb and anguished cry telling him he hit his mark as the maul winds back up. The gladiator is no stranger to desperate struggles to survive, however. He shoulder checks Bontar, using the force to pop his shoulder back into place, and uses jabs and swipes of his dagger to try and wear the raging dwarf down in close quarters.

    Thunderous steps move into the ashen earth, and the giant takes his broken prison bar in both hands. With one end he jabs at Bontar, clanging against the bars of the cell and nearly impaling him on the twisted metal at the end, then swinging the weapon the other way like a pendulum, catching Faldar with a bent piece of bronze and shoving him back into the wall, hard. The impact knocks the wind out of him.

    Bontar charges past, provoking an attack from the gladiator in front of the door. He gets critically hit for 2 damage after resistance, Bloodying him, then hits the other Human Gladiator for 14, Bloodying him as well.
    Ptekme attacks Killers Ganger, hitting with a claw for 2 damage, but missing his main hand attack.
    Faldar casts Mind Blast on Human Gladiator, at Disadvantage from being adjacent. It hits regardless for 9 damage, taking him out.

    Killers Gladiator uses his Second Wind to heal for 8, bringing him back out of Bloody, and attacks Bontar for 2 damage after resistance.
    Grump attacks Bontar for 3 damage after resistance, and Faldar for 6 damage, Bloodying him.
    Mul Rabble are trapped behind Grump and cannot engage.

    Greven hurried down the grimy vent. He descended to witness the truth of the master's words: A massive brute wielded a prison bar as a weapon! The dray hisses, psionically stabbing the creature's weak mind. "Let's redirect this muscle toward more profitable efforts."

    Qoheleth waited to follow Hand down the vent, then hurried along to aid his master.

    Lazaar takes advantage of the creature's size, firing off an infernal bolt of fire and transforming the ground underneath the giant into ash. He then maneuvers to lurk within the Tembo.

    A flash of fire impacts the giant's side - dwarfed by his size, it amounts to little more than a spark from a campfire, and the creature twitches, brushing at the irritated patch of his thick skin in annoyance. Then he winces, as Greven's mental thrust prods at his simple mind, finding it malleable and underdeveloped. "Stupid mind shaman make Grump head hurt."

    Not far behind Greven, Hand flips out of the vent above, followed closely by the vicar dropping down with a thud.

    In the hall, Ptekme finds himself further embroiled in a melee as the dwarf runs forwards swinging his warpick. The kreen sidesteps, and the dwarf's weapon clangs against the stone floor, taking a chip out of it. Taking the opportunity, the ganger clutches his club with the cornered desperation of a dying animal in his eyes, slamming it into Ptekme's chest with a bludgeoning thrust. A crack forms in the chitin, fluids leaking out and running down the kreen's side. In that dire moment, Hand appears, moving to stand beside Ptekme. The armored kreen takes a defensive, human-like fighting stance.

    In the cell across the hall, the mul gladiator sidesteps to move beside his comrade, slashing with his scimitar to draw Bontar's attention and open him up for a flanking attack.

    Seeing Bontar and Ptekme in trouble, the elves move quickly to help. Unable to get a good angle on the dwarf rabble, Jiro and Qaba both shoot at the Ganger next to the Hand.

    Zantos looks to Faldar and says quietly, "Ignore the flames." and he runs across the hall. Once he is out of the hall, it erupts in a great bonfire, blocking both of the doorways. He then stands next to Bontar, waiting for the counterattack.

    Faldar nods at Greven's subtle hint. And the Giant's wince confirms his suspicion on the dray's actions. He composes himself and then speaks out. "Grunt, listen to me! We came to warn you. Korno has become afraid of your immense power en is planning to kill you. He thinks you're a threat! We'll take care of his guards. You must go to him and kill him! Smash him, until he moves no longer!" Faldar stares at him intently, watching for any sign of success.

    Both Bontar and Ptekme fight hard. Ptekme is hurt badly and now just focusses on avoiding attacks. Bontar doesn't have any quals like that and keep attacking ferosiously!

    Two arrows fly out. One impacts the ganger fighting Ptekme, and the man slumps down against the wall weakly. The other thuds into one of the gladiators across the hall.

    Running across the hall, Zantos feels a slight aching in his bones as he walks upon the cursed earth left behind by the Prophet's magic, but nothing he cannot work through. As he arrives in front of the man Qaba shot, behind him a blaze silently erupts, consuming the hallway. Bontar roars and finally piledrives the mul into the ground with his hammer, as the gladiator beside him looks on in terror.

    With nowhere to run to, the gladiator stabs at Zantos - which proves to be a fatal mistake. His blade sinks into the barrier of cold, not reaching Zantos' flesh, and frost creeps up the handle of the puchik and onto the man's arm. His skin begins to turn blue as he falls to the floor.

    "Who... Grunmtnt..." the giant mumbles trailing off with a blank stare into space as Faldar's words wriggle into his mind. Then his expression contorts into anger and he looks down the hallway past the 'kreen and the fire. "Korno. Korno betray. Smash Korno!" he howls, the two muls behind him exchanging worried looks as their trump card turns against them.

    Stomping through the illusory fire without a care, feet crunching the Killers fallen there, Grump raises his metal 'staff' into the air and threatens the two thri-kreen from behind. "Need smash Korno! Out of way or Grump smash you!"

    As the giant moves out of the way, one of the muls moves up to the bars of the cell, a club held in each hand. He shouts in defiance and tries to jab through the bars at Faldar, but his swings are too clumsy. The other tries to attack Bontar from behind, but finds himself unable to swing far enough past Grump's obstruction, howling in frustration.

    Faldar casts Suggestion on Grump, who actually rolls stupidly well - a 16 and a 19 at Disadvantage from his Defilement Exhaustion. But -1 from being dumb as bricks and -3 from Greven means a failure!
    Made a Lock icon on Faldar's token for the Concentration. Best be careful not to lose it

    Bontar strikes Mul Gladiator for 12 damage, and a KO.

    Killers Gladiator stabs Zantos for a 6 damage crit, then gets KO'd by the backlash from Armor of Agathys.
    Grump readies an action to smash either of Ptekme or Hand if they fail to get out of his way by his next turn.
    Mul Rabble rages and attacks Faldar twice, but misses both.

    Greven unleashes a mental blast into the raging mul while cloaking Faldar in an opaque crystalline dome. The emissary then bounded backward to remain out of reach from the beserkers.

    Qoheleth marks the giant, who spills tarry sludge from his soles. He then maneuvered to interpose his person in front of Lazaar. He readied his quarterstaff and raised his shield with the emblem of the Grey, preparing to deflect any blows against his master.

    Lazaar surged forward, tolled the imminent death of the beserker, then bounded back behind the protective line of his aides.

    Greven BA Mind Sliver on berserk killer directly in front of Faldar. Int 13 vs (1d6)[1] psychic damage and -(1d4)[4] on next save.
    Casts minor illusion of a crystal chrysalis around Faldar to screen him from view, so that he can move out of melee without triggering OAs.
    Greven moves back to defend Lazaar without piling on top of him.

    Qoh uses Curse of Black Sands to mark Grump. The ability does not say, but is this an action? Similarly, the sand from his pillars is down here. Would his wild talent maintain the ability to move the sand without re-casting Mold Earth?
    Qoh moves back to screen Lazaar.

    Lazaar moves 15ft forward, casts Toll the Dead on the beserk killer in front of Faldar, distant/sicken razes the dwarven mul left of ptemke. Wis 13 vs (1d12)[12] necrotic damage.
    Lazaar retraces to his original position.
