    While Ptekme and Bontar carry out their brutal tasks, Faldar's face hardens. "It must be done.. " he whispers to himself. He moves further forward, pushing Bontar and Ptekme on.

    Faldar tells Ptekme to scout ahead for a bit, while he takes over some of the killing. He moves up to the nearest rabble and blasts him at pointblank range. At the same time, Bontar prepares another mighty swing of his maul, this time hoping to take out the cleric.

    Bontar smashes the cleric, while Ptekme suddenly seems to slink into the shadows and moves up to the nearby door and peaks around the corner.

    Ptekme hides (bonus) and moves up to look around the corner. If the cleric gets up after Bontar's smash, he'll backstab him.

    With brutal efficiency, the warband strikes. The cleric survives Bontar's hammer, coughing and gripping his wounded chest for only a moment before Ptekme delivers a stab which causes the man to fade back into unconsciousness.

    While Faldar blasts the last of the sleepers in the face with psionic energy to keep him down, Ptekme peers inside the nearby room. It appears to be the room in which the gladiators were prepared for the fight, with buckets of water and flasks of oil for making favored combatants presentable to the crowd. It has since been converted into a shrine, lines of benches once used by gladiators awaiting their turn in the arena now lined up as pews before a rough-made bonfire. Two stone totems rest on either side of the bonfire, one carved with iconography of flame, the other of magma.

    The bonfire is not lit, but there is a soft warmth inside the room.


    Zantos ignites the earth beneath the behemoth baazrag, the smell of cooking flesh wafting after them as the elves advance.

    The going is tense as they move through the halls, now silent, all too aware that enemies still lurk somewhere within - or perhaps have fled to Korno, hoping to regroup around their great leader. With any luck the rampaging giant will dissuade that notion.

    Bontar smashes Magma Cleric for 10 damage, waking him. Ptekme sneak attacks for 13 damage as he starts to wake up, then moves ahead and stealthily peers around the corner into the room.
    Faldar blasts Human Rabble for 11 damage, an immediate KO that keeps him from getting up.
    Zantos casts Create Bonfire, the Boneclaw cannot evade due to being paralyzed and takes 2 damage.
    Jiro and Qaba ready attacks.

    Greven feels his mind ripple with a new level of power. He finds he can manipulate and divide his psionics like the many facets on a crystal. He smiles under his veil, eager to unleash this new might upon his foes. He settles with his recent art, spiking the dying with psionic blasts.

    The defiler assisted with the mercy kills to the dying foes, seeking to ensure none rose. Qoheleth guarded the rear faithfully, calling the slow move of the Silt to follow his wake.

    The two fallen gangers writhe on the ground, veins throbbing in their foreheads. The cleric pales as life begins to seep out of him. As they carefully eliminate anything that could attack them from behind, and check their doors, Hand swiftly weaves through the group to take the fore, only slowing as he nears the corner of the hallway.

There is another side hall just by the exit. The two kreen are able to signal that things seem clear ahead.

    Moving forward as a group, Faldar's squad takes point with Ptekme scouting the intersection ahead. Peering carefully around the corner, Ptekme quickly slips back out of view when he sees Killers inside of a small, open area outside of more cells. There are what look like barrels of water and boxes sitting around the room. Killers appear to be waiting beside each entry point, unsure of which way the warband will be coming from. They are almost certainly ready to leap at the first sign of a threat.

    Everyone forms up, bows drawn, frontliners low to give them a clear shot, and casters gathering power in anticipation. Slipping out around the corner, Ptekme looses a sudden throw of his chatchka, which buries it into the chest of a Killer in waiting. The attack is so sudden that those with readied weapons can't react in time before Ptekme vanishes.

    Soon after, however, they begin hurrying to strike back. "Smash that bug!" a gruff, deep dwarven voice commands. A green around the ears human rabble with a sling moves up just far enough to take a shot at Ptekme, the stone whizzing past his antenna and clipping it for a painful, but far from vital hit. A second man leans around the corner, taking a shot at the same time as Bontar's hammer swings around to clobber him. The man is just able to duck, throwing off his shot and merely startling Ptekme with a clack of stone against stone right next to his head.

    Just when it seems he's going to get off scott free, Lazaar's flame scorches the side of his head brutally, and the man, wounded and reeling, falls to the tolling of the black bell. A skeletal claw from Greven sails past a little too late, phasing into the wall and spooking the man behind him instead.

    A man in the garb of the Magma Lords steps into the hall over the body, greeted by a trio of arrows. One shot goes wide, another deflected by his quarterstaff in a swift motion, the third slashing past his arm and leaving a shallow cut. Wearing a satisfied grimace, he begins weaving a spell to pour flame and heat into the hall, but it dissipates as Faldar's mental blast clobbers him upside the head and sends him sprawling to the floor.

    Greven casts his spell of slumber into the side hall ahead, and he hears the satisfying sound of bodies slumping to the ground. A gruff voice barks, "Firebug's right! Regroup with the frontline!"

    A dwarf tries to run past, catching Lazaar's flame in the back and collapsing to the ground. Another rounds the corner, squaring off against Bontar with a determined expression. "Somebody! Warn Korno! I'll hold 'em off!" Pushing through Qoheleth spell with his willpower he takes a swing at Bontar, which the veteran gladiator blocks with the haft of his hammer, shoving the weaker dwarf's warpick aside.

    Two more gangers run into the hall, trying to make it to the tunnel out now that their ambush has gone tits up. But swerving between panicked swings, The Hand dances around them and slashes across one of the fleeing gangers with two claws, dropping the man to the floor.

    When the dwarf rounds the corner to attack Bontar, the elves release their held arrows.

    Seeing the Hand start to get surrounded, Zantos then moves up and attacks the Killers Ganger right in front of him. Jiro and Qaba launch arrows at the enemy, starting with the Ganger in front of Zantos, and moving on once he falls.

    Driving his scimitar into the back of the ganger as he falls away from Hand's claws, Zantos dumps him unceremoniously on the stone floor. An arrow whizzes by, and a second embeds itself into the dwarf next to the elven warchief. Bontar's hammer brings the dwarf down, and Ptekme begins ripping into him to finish the job.

    The hallway crowded with bodies, a dwarven psionicist gathers power in his crystal orb, and Zantos feels a distortion in the air around him. A psionic blast impacts him, shattering the remnants of his icy barrier.

    A bolt of fire, thin and powerful as a javelin, arcs through the crowd assembled in the hall. It spears through the ganger's chest, leaving a scorched hole that he looks down at in shock before collapsing. Greven's spectral hand floats over and grasps the man by his face, smothering him. At the tolling of the bell, his struggle ends.

    Standing between the fleeing gangers and the exit, the Hand peers down at the magma cleric that still seems to be wheezing out instructions. The kreen quickly uses a footclaw to crush the cleric's windpipe before he can cast more spells.

    Both Bontar and Ptekme, quickly move up as the dwarf and the cleric are taken care of. While dashing, Bontar heaves his maul high above his head and smashes it down on the rabble on the ground. Ptekme slashes one of the downed enemies across the throat.

    Faldar follows more cautiously behind. He moves up and blasts the psi warrior, hoping to finish what Zantos started.

    Leaping over the fallen, Zantos whirls around and slashes the dwarf across the back before he can react. He falls to the ground, psi-orb falling from his hands.

    With the last of their standing foes dead, the crew quickly dispatches the rest. Beyond the corner, the elves can see the exterior of the arena. Multiple tiers of jagged rock with handholds for combatants to climb, carved pits lined with spikes, and a set of walls full of seating built up around it. At the far side is a wall with watchtowers, where the exterior gate to the arena floor will be, as well as the stairs up to the stands.

    Throughout the rough area, the Killers have built ramshackle huts and tents. Several clerics are treating patients at a few triage sites up above, with nobody yet noticing the intrusion of the warband. But the trampling footsteps of Grump are visible, climbing up and over in a beeline for the gate, and beyond it the frontline, where the sounds of battle and shouting can be heard.

    The last enemy capable of fighting back is now down, so I think we can safely exit Initiative. Combat ends. Made some quick rolls for the Boneclaw as well, and it perishes to the flames, unable to break out of its poisoned paralysis due to Exhaustion 2.
