Nymphaea Caerulea

The Dryad steps forward, placing her right on on her chest and bowing her slightly. "My apologies. We are adventurers, and we are not as accustomed to the dark as some. I am Nymphaea Caerulea, of No Forest" she concludes, with a curtsy. She eagerly awaits the response from the creature, breathlessly and without blinking.

Ruvora, having cooled off a bit (but still very much wanting that runback), readies hammer and shield at the shriek, but they are spoken at in Common. So, you know, make sure first you want to bonk something on the head before you start bonking something on the head.

"Hello there," Ruvora greets, though Nymphaea is already doing what turns out to be her thing.

They cover their brows with cupped hands, as if to shield from the light, and converse in a slurred cant that combines a few buzz words you might recognize.

They turn and squint at you. "Why have you come here?"

Ruvora only makes out a small portion of what is said, but she does understand one bit. "Pfft, jink," she answers, also blowing an errant red lock of hair out of her face. "Clobberin' gobbos' where it's at, what with them having raised hell in the burg nearby!"

[Dimers]

"What about yourselves? Why are you here?" Ahh, that's the trusting and open-hearted Dearie we know and love.

[Buufreak]

The one to the left snorts a gruff laugh. "Gobs. Can't decide between over or under. Club 'em all, but we here for the value."

[WaffleLord]

Aeren Tatallaner

Aeren steps into the circle of light. "We, too, are here to deal with the goblins. We know nothing of their value, only of their danger to our lands. Perhaps a sharing of knowledge could help us both, yes? You seem to be a knowing people. What have you found out about the goblins that live in this hole?"

[Ridai]

"Heck, if we find something while clobbering gobbos, sure, we'll take it, earned it, but it's not like we came here looking for jink. Also, what're you?"

[Buufreak]

They mumble again amongst themselves. "Gnomes, by the closest estimation of upworlders. And if you want to talk goblins, then find a way down deeper. The recesses of this place holds some strange things, and likely stranger loots. Now if you got much more to ask, you'll be cutting into our digging time."

[Ridai]

"A'right, leave you to it, bashers. I'm gonna follow the left-hand wall some more," Ruvora says, hammer shouldered and heading along her merry way to the next door.

[Rakaydos]

"Perhaps if we followed the outer wall, and see how much we can explore that way?" Zar murmured, as they moved back out.

[Snowbluff]

Nymphaea Caerulea

"Farewell," Nym says to the creatures with another curtsy.


She raises an eyebrow at Zar and Ruvora. "Is following the left hand not also following the outside wall in this case?" she asks. Either way, she follows Ruvora back to the split and into H18.

[Ridai]

The way Ruvora inclines her head towards Zar and motions with her craghammer gives the impression of pointing with her finger going "that's the spirit". And then she repeats the very same towards Nymphaea, before continuing on her merry way.

Dearie, silently wondering how Ruvora manages to stay so cheerful, follows along behind.

[Buufreak]

The route to the north continues for a short distance, followed by another corner to the east, and a stair case leading down. It is particularly better kept than the entrance stairs, leading into the deeper, darker stillness.

Nearing the bottom of the stairs is a barren room, with the right side (north) lined with iron bars.

[Ridai]

Ru heads downstairs, to see what the room looks like. If there are more doorways down there, though, she does mention: "Ah, better finish up there first!" and turns right back around.

As you journey deeper into the room, light begins to wrap around the iron bars on the north wall. A gruff voice in the dark: "Not like Gobs to be using magic lights. Who are ye'?"

[Ridai]

Ruvora cheerfully answers "We're here to clobber gobbers! Who're you?"

The eladrin follows along behind, grateful for companions who are not adverse to leading.

[Buufreak]

A tall, withered and balding man approached from the other side of the bars, they still casting shadows across his figure. "Definitely not Goblins, you. Don't suppose you are here to rescue us?"

[Ridai]

"Ah, you're from the burg they raided? Are you seeing a door somewhere in there?" Ruvora looks if there is any sort of entrance into the area behind the bars.

[Dimers]

"Or a lock to pop open? ..." Dearie asks from behind Ruvora.

[Buufreak]

"Burg? Ah, the city. Yes. I am Sertanian, castellan of the Great Hall. If the council has sent you, then I must insist that you see me out of this dark and damp hole at once! The latch and key to this gate must be around here somewhere... Oh, damn my faded eyes!"

[Rakaydos]

"Burg? Ah, the city. Yes. I am Sertanian, castellan of the Great Hall. If the council has sent you, then I must insist that you see me out of this dark and damp hole at once! The latch and key to this gate must be around here somewhere... Oh, damn my faded eyes!"

At this, the mage wordlessly cast the light around the room, shadows shifting as his cowl-concealed gaze swept the room.

"I'm thinking you're better off in there for now. Still plenty gobbos in here, we'll get you out once it's cleared. You got food in there? Something to drink?" Ruvora says, as she squints into the dark, trying to see any sort of door with the new light provided.

[Buufreak]

"Stay here? Heavens no! Do you know who I am? I served in the War! You can't just leave me in this cell." Sertanian seems adamant of not staying here any longer.

Nymphaea Caerulea

The dryad quietly plays with her daggers while she watches the mortals discuss the situation. She decides to intercede. She quietly, almost imperceptibly, before introducing herself. "Salutations, I am Nymphaea Caerulea, of no particular forest," she says with her customary curtsy. "If I may interject in this debate, I do believe we've the arms to spare for this man, and we've the ability to draw attacks away from him. If he wishes to combat his captors, I don't believe we've the cause to stop him."

[Ridai]

"Jus' don't come cryin' to me when a berk gets shanked," Ruvora says and starts hitting the cell door with her hammer.

[Dimers]

"Hey, whoa, save the hammer for the goblins, I can probably get that open." So saying, Dearie goes to work trying to pick the lock and let the old fellah out. (d20+11)[18]

"If this city buffoon manages to kill something, what a turn-around that will be. Everyone likes an underdog," the bard muses.

"Suit yourself and suit yourself. We've still little idea what we shall face or where they are." Looking around for further exits from what seems to be their prison, "We could certainly use direction towards our goal of goblin destroying. After dropping you off or feeding you, which way did they exit?"
