Quest for Glory: How Big is Spielburg Valley?

So, my 7 year old wants to play an RPG, and I'm figuring Savage Worlds is a good place to start... fairly simple, works a lot like Amazing Tales, but with a bit more depth. And, since I'm heavily familiar with it from decades of play, and it's designed for a single player, I think I'll adapt Quest for Glory 1: So You Want to be a Hero for him.

But how big is Spielberg Valley?

In the game, you can cross it in a few hours, from north to south, even with the places you've got to walk around. But if I, say, have him try to get to Erana's Peace from the gates of town, how long should it take, in a table-top RPG?

It’s hard to tell what the actual scale is. Spielburg appears to only have a few dozen residents even accounting for video game condensation - but it’s also a walled town, which suggests a bigger population. On the other other side there’s only one farming plot.

A few hours to a day to cross through light forest is probably about right. That’s still big enough to hide the brigand encampment from the very limited military force the castle represents and it’s a pretty wide area to fit the locations of the original game into.
