    ... another dupe/11 :(

Edit: on the bright side, I loaded up my Wind magic team. The old one had a single AASB, Terra, off element even (using Meltdown), and a gen 2 CSB. Now have Barb and Ultimecia, and they both have a matching USB. So team magic Wind went from real janky to probably could beat a 6*.

Some other annoyances with a "check again in a week or so lol" popped up so I took my frustrations out on torment.

Tactics- ticket helped, and switching out Meliadoul for Delita also seemed to have helped. (her ability to use heavy + imperil helped me rush through the first two, but on the 3rd she seemed to lose too much ground. i still lack SSB and LMR for her but those might not help much anyway.)

V- doable, occasional timing issues but basically a matter of when I feel like it.

Dreambreakers not so much, but I still got the mithril, so the rest can wait.

Yeah... I'm not attempting Dreambreakers for a while.

Speaking of mythril, I forget if it's been said here, but soon (next fest???) they're going to introduce a mechanic where if you pull multiple times on the same banner (or maybe same event? I seem to recall for the fest itself it's *all* the fest banners) you get rewards, ending after 10 pulls in picking any one of the banner items.

Long story short, really really want that sync? Spend 500 mythril on the banner, select the sync.

This is... honestly also getting a "Nope" from me.

Look, I get it, it's a neat pity-pull reward. But like some of the people in that thread, the most I've ever pulled on a Fest banner is three times - 150 mythril. And that's pretty rare. So that would get me... ooh, a dress record for a character I never use and don't even know. Yeah, that's a pretty hard pass. This is, again, basically whale-bait. And while I don't begrudge the whales their prizes - the game needs whales to live, after all - I'm not one.

I could see splurging for the fest since it counts all 5. The others are on like 1~2 banners, and even with honing and such seem impractical.

These are my thoughts. 5 banners, average 2 pulls per banner, boom “free” sync.

Edit: but regular banner? Heck no, not dropping no 500 blues on no single banner.

    Torment:
XIII is annoying even on fast clears. But with the mission done I don't have to bother for a while.
VIII- down! A bit more for the supporting cast would help but it was mostly a matter of letting Squall do his thing
XIV is nearly down. I'm hoping throwing a few motes at Alph will do it.

Alright, so I've been lax in here. I apologize. If you need someone (or something) to blame, it's Romancing SaGa Re;UniverSe. (Yeah, it's written that way.) It's basically like FFRK in terms of gameplay except using SaGa characters, so it appeals to me.

Anyways, for the heads-up: FFRK will begin its collab event with FFBE (Final Fantasy Brave Exvius), and the retweet event is online. Both games will have rewards, though they're pretty minor. FFRK will have up to 3 Mythril, a [Beyond] 5* accessory (Lasswell's Insignia), and a ticket for a 40x Relic Draw, which is the one that has me excited the most. (If you're wondering: FFBE will have two 10+1 Ticket pulls and 400 Lapis, which translates roughly to two Bonus Draw tickets and 4 Mythril in FFRK parlance. "10+1" means you get an 11-pull worth of characters, with one of them being 4* or higher guaranteed.)

Not just that, there'll be a minigame commemorating the event, and you can expect the actual collab on Thursday. The event will have the three main characters of FFBE (Rain, Lassworm Lasswell and Fina), as well as relics for all three. There's also gonna be a Music Record with the lobby theme for FFBE, and most likely the fights will have the three main battle themes of the game (Duel, Onslaught and Celestial Battle).

Oh yeah, and...the first two pulls on the FFBE banner will be half-price. And the FFBE side of the collaboration won't happen until next week, maybe? (FYI: it's a free Tyro for everyone.)

The retweet event has already hit the 2k shares/retweets it needed between the 2 Facebook and Twitter posts just as a heads up, so might get stretch rewards. In addition, this is also a Portal App month for FFRK, so that's even more mithril if it gets completed. No idea how close that is though since I can never get the app to run.

As for the banner itself, not pulling. Unlike the Kingdom Hearts banners when Elemental was king of endgame and thus the characters were useful despite being a non existent realm, we now have Realm focused Dreambreakers as end game. Which drastically limit's their usefulness/longevity.

Radiant shield shenanigans got me mithril on XIII DB, I'm hoping I can do the same with III but it's a chore.

    On the other hand
Torment II went boom thanks to newly acquired Maria USB.
Motes for Alph did in fact work on XIV.

Unsure of that. Based off the FFRK Reddit, the reason why the retweet event was already achieved is because FFBE is actually more popular, and has a lot more traction, so the event succeeded based on the FFBE players. However, I'd be surprised if they actually do a stretch reward goal, maybe to complete the Mythril/Lapis count on either side. (2 or 7 more Mythril for 10 Mythril total; 600 or 1,400 Lapis for 2,000 Lapis total.)

Or - and this is a huge one - FFBE gets the stretch goal only, and it's a Global-exclusive release of Elarra. FFBE Global gets a lot of exclusives, after all.

As for the banner itself, not pulling. Unlike the Kingdom Hearts banners when Elemental was king of endgame and thus the characters were useful despite being a non existent realm, we now have Realm focused Dreambreakers as end game. Which drastically limit's their usefulness/longevity.
I'll pull, if only because I play both games, and it'd be fun to have a full set for at least one of the heroes. Lasswell is a Ice/Wind specialist, which makes him great for Syldra, and depending on how Fina goes, I might be finally able to beat Ark. So there's utility in those.

Lasswell definitely has a niche in that ice SAM is rare, and if your wind options are limited he might be able to help.

Rain and Fina are more common ground but still, awakening/sync can very quickly be "there's my healer, or there's my second/third DPS."

Like, on paper Minfilia is a lot worse than most of my knights, but with her fast cast and particular buffs I actually have been using her a lot for the missions.

Man I love Historia Crystals. I had several realms with like 0 elemental focus (like for my III I had Ingus Earth, Refia Fire, OK... whatever), now they all get their juicy bonuses/imperils.

What are good abilities to buy using the Rubies? I started doing both the Dream dungeons and the Torment Dungeons(I can master the 1st torments pretty easily it seems, but the 2nd level of them are giving me conniption fits). I got the passionate Salsa since it seems to be a stronger multi-break with the added benefit of a mild cure, and the Fire thief ability that heals you via a portion of the damage you do, but beyond that, I'm just not sure, and really don't want to waste my record rubies on junk.

It kinda seems that the Black Mage 5 hit chain spells, and the Spellblade 5 hit abilities are probably ones that I can skip, just feels like a minor improvement that would just waste a limited resource.

So, yeah, some advice would be much appreciated on this subject :).

The general first bit of advice is to score multi-element coverage. Those are abilities which will always help. And there are some utility abilities, like Healing Smite, which are generally good to have.

After that, it's simply a question of what need arises. Got Noctis' Sync? Better load up on Fire SAM abilities. Got Rydia's Awakening? Grab those SUMs. Need to beef up your FFX team? Grab a Water SHP. And so forth.

Aside from grabbing some multi-element abilities, it really boils down to spending on what you need, rather than buying in anticipation of a possible need.

My most used are probably Voltech and Healing Smite.

Running Start- sort of a super Powerchain.

Summons- For the most part these are a huge upgrade over their 5 and lower equivalents.

Offerings/Plasma Shock- these are similarly an upgrade over their counterparts, and you will absolutely want to spam Imperil whenever possible.

For X torment I really needed Sapphire Bullet.

My least used is Stormspell Strike. If I had more stuff for Bartz, maybe Queen or a couple others that could change but yeah.

Looks like we'll be getting 3 tickets for the x40 draw. One automatically, one from the retweet campaign, and one from the mini-game. Still no idea what the cut off date or rates will be though. Also some speculation that we'll get 2 tickets when the event drops, and one the next day based on a tweet.

EDIT: 500 million point milestone has been added to the mini-game. The reward? FIVE x11 Realm/Elemental draw tickets.

Edit 2: Reached. Enjoy your draws folks!

Tomorrow should certainly make inventory interesting.

III did not exactly help the cause by adding a dupe. It will look slightly better after the honing update, but still pretty much anything else would have been more useful.

Similarly the daily draw seems to think "by Laguna you meant Irvine!"

    So draw time!

    Spoiler: x40 Draws
    Show

    Draw 1: 10/40 - 6 Discos, 4 Rainbows
    Seifer LMR - Dupe
    Ovelia LMR
    Yuna summon DC LMR
    Sabin LMR
    Golbez USB
    Ramza CSB - Dupe
    Barbariccia Glint+
    Hope AOSB
    Lightning Sync - Dupe

    Draw 2: 5/40 - All Disco
    Ace Realm CSB
    Freya G+ - Dupe

    Cid (VII) AASB

    Draw 3: 3/40 1 Rainbow, 2 Disco

Little disappointing tbh. Definitely got the quantity but quality was a bit lacking. Not much that's really helpful.

Alright, folks, this is not a drill! The 40x collab draws are here, and I don't know about you, but I have three tickets I need to be rid of!

    Spoiler
    Show
First pull, two rainbow, two disco!
    • Glorious Armguard: Wakka's BSB. How cute. New, but mostly pointless.
    • Gravity Rod: FuSoYa's BSB. Hey, remember how he exists? New, but entirely pointless.
    • Durandal: o'Light's Awakening! Awesome! Also, a dupe.
    • Knight's Whipblade: Seven's AOSB! Hey, that's yet another character from Type-0 about whom I know nothing! At least it's new.

    Undeterred, second pull! Two disco!
    • Argentic Flute: Deuce's USB. Hey, another Type-0 character about whom I know nothing, and a dupe!
    • Minerva Bustier: Not the one you think! Quistis' Brave USB! Dual-element, which is actually decent. And it's new!

Come on, lucky number three! Wow, three rainbow, eight disco!
    • Gaia Hammer: Cid (IV)'s BSB. Like FuSoYa, a character that technically exists! New and pointless.
    • Lordly Robes: Arc's LMR. It's not bad, but it's not amazing either. At least it's new.
    • Save the Queen: Cloud's LMR. The En-Wind one. A dupe.
    • Warlord's Glove: Snow's USB. A nice party buff suite, but Snow is terrible. At least it's new.
    • Draconic Deck: Setzer's USB. Neat, but a dupe.
    • Mythril Deck: Ace's USB. Neat, but a dupe.
    • Iridal Staff: Shantotto's CSB. Pretty decent, but a dupe.
    • Glorious Shield: Tidus' Glint+! I mean, it's your typical En-Element and 0CT deal, but it's free to use, so calling that a solid win! And it's new!
    • Triton's Dagger: Vaan's AOSB. You know, for Vaan. At least it's new.
    • Blazing Garb: Rubicante's Awakening! I love Rubicante, but I have way too many MAG Fire Awakenings for this to make a difference. Still, it's new.
    • That's no disco! Oracle's Raiment: Lunafreya's Sync! A hybrid SUM/WHT that pairs solid MAG Water damage with a heal and self-ether button. Now I just need to figure out how she fits into my XV team.

Okay, I got a sync, so I'm calling this a win.

I'm thinking I'll pass on the FFBE banner. It has three Syncs, and the chance of getting one is the same as the chance of getting an Awakening, AOSB or USB, but if I don't get a Sync there is absolutely no point in these characters, and if I do... there's still no point because they get no synergy. Half price or no, I'm gonna save my mythril.

    Happy pulls, all.

The sad part is, she really doesn't fit into a XV team. She's the only mage character in the realm, the only water element of a (mostly) Lightning/Fire focused realm, and she's rather unreliable as a main healer. Pair with her AASB and she'll wreck on a mage water team though.

I'll do the opposite - wait for a while for the 40-Draws, and just pull on the FFBE banner. Mostly, because I also play FFBE (though mostly running the events and such), and the music is pretty awesome. (Also: really? Of all people, Sol is the Inferno MP boss? That's...like, end-of-season boss!) Before doing the pull, I checked my luck on the Daily Draw. DISCO!!

    • Gabranth's Death Sickle. That's the Dark Physical Chain 2.0, but it's a dupe, and the item isn't that great. So there's that.

With such auspicious luck, did the first half-price pull.

2/11, ONE DISCO, ONE SWIRLY DISCO!!

    • Fina's Reincarnation! This is her Sync Bow. It's Instant Cast, grants QC1 to all allies, but most importantly, it grants not one, but TWO Shields. That means you get protected from two attacks at once! Sync 1 is your big HP heal and triggers with WHM; Sync 2 is your mini-Medica, and triggers on WHM OR Support moves.
    • Fina's Clothes! This is her Awakening Light Armor, which is pretty bog-standard for a Healer Wake - WHM, grants a mini-Medica on cast, revive + Last Stand + Haste. However, it also works on Support, which is great because, as you may have noticed, Fina has SUP access, so Wrath and Entrust are in!

So, what about Fina? Well, she's built basically like Rosa in terms of skills, but has a Legend Materia and relic set-up much like Aerith (her LM2 is a mini-Medica on WHM chaser, and obviously she'll have some sort of W-Cast WHM as a LMR), so she's already a pretty solid healer. Not bad for try #1!

Sadly, I don't have her Awakening. Or, actually, anything else for her. What I do have are two things:
    • A main healer for XV. My Iris is solid. I have her USB and her BSB. I should probably get her W-Cast LMR at some point. But she's still an extremely capable healer.
    • A chain for XV. Yes, I have Ignis' Realm Chain. Which means that, in-realm, the PHY/MAG distinction is functionally moot, as I have a built-in Boost/Faith/Hastega ready to go.

So, I theoretically could bring her along. It might be overkill, since I have a Sync, Awakening, and AOSB for Noctis, an Awakening for Gladio, and a Glint+ and USB for Prompto. Although, frankly, Prompto is absurdly overspecialized, in that both his Glint+ and USB are Imperil Lightning, and nobody else is using Lightning abilities (except Noctis if I decide to completely ignore one of the best Syncs in the game). But I could technically slot her in for somebody and - as long as I keep Noctis for Sync, Ignis for Chain and Iris for heals - see no reduction in efficacy.

    Probably ditch Prompto. Stupid Prompto.

You're right, though, she might work well on a Water MAG team. Which reminds me, I really need to work the kinks out of that one. I think my current Water MAG setup includes Rydia (AOSB), Lulu (Water/Ice USB), Strago (Chain, USB, Awakening), Onion Knight (because I have no idea, shut up), and Lenna (because she's basically the best healer I have now). I could... probably replace Rydia, ironically enough. Replace my Earth Sync SUM with a Water Sync SUM. That's funny.

Grats on your FFBE pull, Oskar!

EDIT: In all the excitement, I forgot about all these Realm/Element pull tickets! Here we go!

First pull! Wind banner! Two discos!
    • Ultima Blade: Celes' AOSB! Sadly a dupe.
    • Ancient Blade: Terra's Wind Awakening! And it's new! Nice!

Feeling good. Wind again! Two discos again!
    • Onion Knight's Guise: OK's EX USB. A dupe.
    • Stardust Rod: OK's Awakening. Sadly a dupe.

Message received. New element - Ice! Three discos this time!
    • Killer Knuckles: Eight's USB. Not bad. Also, new. Also, what even is Type-0?
    • Frostflash Staff: Vivi's Ice/Lightning Awakening! Oh, Hells to the yes! And it's new!
    • Warrior's Emblem: Snow's Awakening! It's new! And Snow is still terrible!

Feeling really good. Ice again! One rainbow, one disco!
    • Minerva Bustier: Not the one you think! Fran's BSB. New, but mostly pointless.
    • Cloud Staff: Vivi's USB! Nice, but a dupe.

One more, because I have a problem! Ice again, one disco!
    • Gaia Gear: Matoya's USB! It's new, and honestly, I really need some decent FFI gear.

Free stuff is free stuff! Also, some Awakenings.

Wow, a lotta real nice pulls!

I got 0 new Syncs, 5 new AASBs (Kelger, Alma, Ward, Selphie, CoD), 1 new CSB (WoL realm).

These will improve several of my teams (mag Earth, v Diablos, V, T, VIII, III). Definite win.

Got a bunch of USBs, Sephiroths fire awakening, OK Realm chain and Steiner’s realm chain. So all in all decent. Not sure many of the USBs fit any of my current teams.

Also not sure how to fit Sephiroths AASB into my fire team. Right now I have Jecht AASB, Firion AASB and Edgar AASB as DPS on that team. I guess its stronger than Firions at first glance. And I can directly swap the abilities since I was using Frostfire Carnage on Firion.

Edit: also in debating the reduced cost pull I read Rain’s Sync and honestly have no idea what it does. There are like 3 different modes that get activated or increased in rank but it says nothing about what these do.

The thing about Rain is that, aside from the rare Beyond events, he won't have synergy, which limits his endgame usage. Additionally, if you don't get a lot of stuff for him on this banner, it is unlikely you'll ever see more. However, he may have some efficacy in elemental teams.

With regard to his Sync, here's what I could find.
    • The initial attack: Rain deals 15 PHY Fire/Earth/Non attacks and goes into Sync mode, that's simple enough. He also increases his damage cap level, also standard. He also goes into two additional modes - Twin Element Mode III, and Vagrant Knight Mode. Twin Element Mode appears to be your typical "pick one" En-Element, granting you either En-Fire or En-Earth level 2. Vagrant Knight Mode is a chaser - after you use two Sync abilities, chase with Crimson Alpha, Crimson Beta, or Crimson Gamma.
    • The commands: Both Sync commands deal Overflow damage. The first raises your Alpha level, the second raises your Beta level.
    • Alpha and Beta levels: At Alpha level 2, your Crimson Alpha ability deals Overflow damage and boosts your Fire/Earth damage. At Alpha 3, the boost is bigger. At Beta level 2, your Crimson Beta ability deals Overflow damage; at Beta 3, it also Imperils. Crimson Gamma's level, on the other hand, is based on Alpha and Beta levels together. When both are level 1, Crimson Gamma deals Overflow damage, but when both are level 2, it deals two Overflow hits, plus a minor Imperil, plus a minor Fire/Earth boost.

In other words, this is a Sync focused on dealing single powerful Overflow hits, that can play as either an element booster, an Imperiler, or both. If you alternate commands, you can trigger Crimson Gamma; if you focus, you can power up Crimson Alpha or Crimson Beta. You choose how it plays. It's reasonably effective in either a Fire or Earth PHY team; great for dealing Overflow damage, but not ideal for boosting Chain.

    Make sense?

10/40 5* or above on the first 40-draw ticket. This is probably my raw luckiest hit to date.. let's see if any of them are any good.

Edge water-based Burst. Eh. Provides an En-water effect, at least.
Lion support Burst, Atk/Def breaks. (..who? I don't even *have* this character and probably won't bother.)
Estinien en-Wind LMR. (They don't actually expect us to know who the MMO characters are, do they?)
Aria medica on WHM LMR. (Hey that's actually useful.)
Red XIII Earth Radiant Shield + 1 turn instantcast USB.
Sice USB, stacking buff from using Darkness and ends with an OSB attack.
Noctis USB, dupe. Not even of a useful weapon, crystal bait.
Trey Sharpshooter Awake. Dupe. +ice bow, might combine it although this is a pretty niche kind of weapon.
Kain Dragoon Awake. Neat. Extends his active DPS period if his Sync doesn't cut it, might be preferable to Sync in certain cases since it gives Cap Break 2 instead of 1.
Quina Support Awake. Hastega, party quickcast Physical, speeds up Quina's own Support casts, and has an entry buff with the rare combo of Attack/Mind, which should stack with basically everything. Verra nice.

    Edit: Second ticket highlights:
Hope Burst. +Holy Light Armor, +Mag buff on the user in addition to Burst status buff, has an oddity in that one of its commands does Black Magic-classed Holy damage, and gives Hope something reasonably useful to do after dropping Chain. Combine with some WHM awakenings I have and Holy Magic may be taking shape.
Rubicante LRM, chance to Imperil Fire on BLK. I have a weirdly large amount of stuff for Rubicante. (I don't actually *have* Rubicante. Will need to toss a Soul of Hero that way.)
Alphinaud USB - I have his Wind sync too. I should probably level him and see how it goes.
Tidus Water Chain (99 count + hits on entry edition.) Nice nice.
Fang En-Wind/attack Glint. Also have her EnWind Burst and OSB - solid potential DPS for PhysWind. Might look at lensing one of her USBs for additional support.. sadly/weirdly the Burst commands on that particular break are Combat, not Dragoon, and so don't work with her LMRs or most of her other soulbreaks.

Jeez that convoluted. And Im not blind right? This isnt explained in game anywhere?

Looking at the three syncs and the awakenings I cant seem to justify pulling on this banner even if it is half price. Fire, ice and wind physica I have all covered its only earth that could use some help and a healer, while nice is not critical for me with Rosa, Ovelia and Elara with deceny SBs.

The help section has entries, but a lot of those are "all right, now what does that mean?"

A couple good awakenings, some interesting 5* although Laguna's ice imperil is probably the one that will see the most use, a whole lot of dupes. I'm hoping to at least see how much of a difference these make tonight but today got busy this afternoon.
