In DMG 2, there are rules for hiring a specialist to make one skill check, with prices based on level. A level 5 specialist (+23 modifier, for a DC 33 to beat) is a mere 4 gp to hire, which is ridiculously cheap. What are ways to use this? So far I've come up with:

-Hire a forger to make you military awards, letters of marque, royal pardons, etc.

-Have a disguise specialist disguise backup weapons, contraband, and money to get them past security

-Get a shellcraft mannikin (250 gp, from ghostwalk), disguise it as a person, and use it as bait in traps a la Blue Spirit.

-Hire a crafter to make all your stuff at 1/3 price.

What other uses are there for this?
Clerics begin to question. Paladins fall. Wizards go mad from knowledge, warriors meet foes more skilled than they, and hunters become as monstrous as the horrors they swore to destroy. In the end, good intentions and grand plans get people killed. I'm not here to shape the world or punish the wicked. I just want to help people and get paid. That's why we rogues are the ones who survive.
