It is in SoD in the crayon drawings. The timing is in line with what Shojo told the Order, Shojo said that Soon's wife discovering the gate happened 66 years ago, and RC says that the event happened 35 years ago, 30 years prior to the start of DCF's.

RC also describes the period between TDO's death and a cleric discovering the gates in terms of centuries.

Edit: Also we are shown the cleric discovering a rift, not a gate.

A charismatic one: he raised and led armies among a previously disunited people. (That's a pro move, that is).

I doubt it. Like m ost leaders, he had a clearer vision than the vast majority of those whom he led, and he saw The Big Picture better than the others did.

I think that other than Aule the Smith, mostly Maia who are into techology, not the Vala.

The Noldor elves also have a strong affinity with Aule - with Feanor being the genius of the group. And two renegade Maia of note (Saruman and Sauron) both started out as "Maia of Aule".

As for goblinoids hating goblins, there's the prisoner, who professed to hate the "greenskins". He was imprisoned for beating up a goblin immigrant.
